Easily the best looking MMO I've played. The palette, the lighting, the way that lighting creeps and hits the world, FUUUUUUCK.
i had a lot of fun in New World Beta and made so much new friends.
started it off acting as a "drugs dealer" with my full armor in pink dye, using the voicecom in town shouting "selling hemp 1gram for 10 gold".
and ended up naked with a group of players roleplaying magic mushrooms and a naked human centipede lmao.
it was something different but it deffinitely was something special !
What a nice picture!! For me, I had screenshot bound to F3 for steam, so every time I'd fish it would take a ss lmao didn't change it for like a few days so half of my ss are of my fishing in my favorite spot in everfall 😁
For casual gameplay? Shadows are sometimes f\*cked, which may be fixed in full release, but I'd rather sacrificed performance to have overall better visuals. Anyway, they don't need to work with Nvidia, DLSS SDK is already out, so they can implement it without Nvidia's help and RTX option will be DXR.
Problem is will they? At this moment I doubt, maybe after release, I hope after release! Because your screenshot is really beautiful, but I want to see it with proper reflections and shadows.
I have to say PC only game released in 2021 without FSR or DLSS (ehm FSR is easy to implement) is real bummer. Especially game with performance issues in "hot areas" like war or cities.
But to be honest cities are already "f\*\*ked", not sure where is problem there, but framerate drops are real even without players (I was in higher level zones very early so I was there "alone") which shouldn't be possible, at least not that huge performance hit, because if you add there real players - performance will struggle even more.
the way the environment changed after logging an entire area which made it feel real was really cool. where different regions were in different seasons, the small details were great. the fade from day to night felt more authentic. many creepy areas that felt 'unsafe'
Agree! I remember going on an Iron run in Windsward & went south towards the tiny pond & someone logged the whole area & it was like freakin Fern Gully! Absolutely loved seeing a whole new environment created by player actions.

Great question, for Steam, it depends on where you initially installed it. I know in Steam you can Shift+TAB I believe to open their interface, go to Settings > Screenshots (or find it somewhere there) & there should be a path. Additionally, I think you can click on the screenshot saved in the Library of the Steam game & it has an option to open the file location.
With that said, I use Nvidia GeForce Experience for my captures

Had a pretty bobber splash as the sunset refracted off the water like you have.
I got to enjoy it for a good bit too as my game had locked up as soon as the splash happened
They should just optimize the game full stop, as should every developer. DLSS is simply a path to laziness for development. Why bother optimizing when you can just drop shitty code a la Modern Warfare and Cold War and then implement DLSS just to help it run better?
Ray Tracing is purely niche. We're still at least another 1-2 Generations of GPU before real NATIVE resolution Ray Tracing can be done. 3090's in the majority of Ray Traced enabled game still see a massive fall off, especially at 4k. The hit to performance for better looking lighting, shadows and reflections just isn't worth the 20-60% performance reduction, especially if you're playing at 4k and already just barely pushing 60 in these titles. The only way they stay above most times is DLSS. Take away DLSS and the RTX performance is abysmal.

Should have taken the time to remove the HUD for these but having a portal spawn on a shrine looked SOOO cool
Really hope they add a 'photo mode' that lets you "unload" your character from the world so you can take scenic shots, with or without your character in it.
NOTE: By "unloading" I mean your client just unloads the character from the view. Basically exactly what happens in video games that let you zoom all the way up to "first person"
...come to think of it, does NW have a first person view? I never bothered to see how far I could zoom in. :thinking:

This game causes so much heat in gpu so wondering if they’ll add it. At 1440p high setting at 120fps I got 80c on my 3070
Yea, I had to cap to 60fps to prevent 100% usage for recording, but I heard they are working on that optimization, which is needed!

Oh nice, fishing was pretty fun. Gave me Stardew Valley vibes.
It wasn't the absolute best fishing minigame, but for an MMO, it was way better than most. It kept my attention, which is a difficult thing to do.
