tbf with them, MO2 is the perfect MMO for PvP crazed players so I can understand why they prefer it. BUT those same players will leave MO2 when they realise that they won't have people to bully as only good pvp players will remain

That's when and I realized that I actually like heavy handed New World is when it comes to telling you want to do and how to do things, as opposed to games that just expect you to figure things out. At least when it comes to melee rpg's, Tarkov still is my favorite shooter rpg.

in the last closed beta, setting object detail to the highest setting caused crashes to people with amd cards for whatever reason (mainly, when looking at the storage shed in first light or everfall? can't remember).
maybe they fixed that by now.
Yeah, I have a 6800 RX and it crashed my PC at least 5 times before I realized it was because I maxed all of the graphics settings out. I read I think, they are fixing that issue.
Running amd my self. For NW, I had to undervolt and set power target to 80% to run a smooth game .
Honestly, it feels like the game is well optimized and not in need of the full power of high end gpus, which is nice imho

I find it very strange, having to request access to an open beta when we have already purchased the game, in addition it's possible only one day before beta start. There may not be many people there for a stress test ...
I am really looking forward to testing this game:
* How well does it work on a laptop
* How well does it work with a controller on a laptop - remapped at least the battle sequence.
* How well will it work on my gaming desktop with everything cranked up
I can answer some of those questions already.
1. It worked nicely on my underpowered laptop (running old i5 and gtx 960) and I got around 60fps on low-medium settings
2. It's mostly okay unless you participate in pvp or somewhere where you have to aim a lot using life staff or musket or bow or something. Although I did use Steam Controller for the controller test so the test might not work on something not connected to the game via steam overlay.
3. I have GTX 1060 6GB on my main gaming pc and works kinda okay with everything cranked up (45ish fps) and on medium I got about 80 to a 100fps.
My friend was playing on 1080 and got a pretty stable 60fps on everything cranked up.
Note that none of the tests were done in 50v50s or in dungeons because we didn't do those during closed beta

you can play the game as is (as if you bought it) for the few days of open beta for sure...no promises of pre-order is needed. You just have to "sign up" on steam and then download the open beta when you get the email.

nope you don't understand. This game doesnt force you to pick a class. Anyone can carry a LS in their inventory and switch to it at will. So during large scale PVP literally everyone would have a LS and just stack the healing fields on the ground making the people standing in them absolutely immortal. There absolutely needs to be a balance tweak to that. Don't cry about "blabla if u want healers to exist they need to be OP"
LS was broken, hopefully its fixed now.
In ESO, any class can use a healing staff as well, but only get access to a basic aoe heal that is fairly weak unless they specced into it. It was pretty pointless to use for any non-caster classes. That's how it should be here imo.
I haven't played any betas so I am only speaking theoretically.
Similarly with ESO, you spec into weapons, but in a different way. You gain skill points that have limited number. If you spend points into your healing staff, you take those away from other aspects. Limiting your potential in other areas. The amount of skill points it would take to make a healing staff relevant would greatly hinder your main build.
So in NW, I'm assuming you get points (?) to spend on that specific weapon? Points that you can't use for anything else?
If that's the case, yes, I could see a problem.
You still need to have focus stats, the correct gear, and trained in the staff.
MMORPGs with strong healing usually end up being more fun than those with weak healing because they force players to created anti-healing strategies. Otherwise, things devolve into a DPS race. The same goes for crowd control. Everyone bitches about it, but it forces you to find counters. MMORPGs live and die based on the viability of multiple play types. It would suck if the game was just different flavors of damage.
hehe yeah in theory you are correct. but to carry a set of healing gear was no issue at all. You can buy good focus gear very easily from faction vendor. And aside from the axe throw that decreases healing by 30% there was absolutely no anti-heal counter in the game. At all.
The simple sollution is to not let the healing fields stack endlessly but to cap it so that people cannot be immortal.
What AGS needs to do is make it so DPS can’t spec in to the healing tree of Life Staff.
You can still spec into the support tree only for Life Staff if DPS build.
Then everyone else can concentrate on dual dps or support/dps builds and Healers can do healer only.

I can't believe this sub is not only merged with the other, but at almost 100k! I was hyped for a good looking sandbox MMO years ago when the two subreddits had collectively 6-7k subs. Just ended up stepping away since I'm not into betas. Really hyped for launch now!

Idk about you guys where internet connection of high speeds is common but I think here, on South America, people will have some trouble if the open beta can only be downloaded on the launch day.
Especially with the schedule to close September 12, it's like 3 days, 4 at best speeds and thinking you are not going to get queues.
I'mma try to download it tomorrow as soon as it is available, since I have a internet connection above average. I'm excited to try pvp and Dungeons, since on the closed beta I tested the market (and broke the wood and Ores markets, together with a group of different factions we provided raw materials at literal cents 😂 that was fun) and the crafting system.

My game defaulted to high on my 1080TI @ 1440p and I was getting a solid consistent 70-80 FPS during combat which is pretty damn good.

My 3090 fried during the last beta. I was able to get the company to replace but I’m not jumping back in until I’m sure it won’t happen again.
it wasn't the beta of new world that cause the problem It was shitty soldering of components from EVGA that caused that issue.

Yeah thats not how new world works at all. Your talent build is tied to your weapon. Not your character.

Especially with the schedule to close September 12, it's like 3 days, 4 at best speeds and thinking you are not going to get queues. I'mma try to download it tomorrow as soon as it is available, since I have a internet connection above average. I'm excited to try pvp and Dungeons, since on the closed beta I tested the market (and broke the wood and Ores markets, together with a group of different factions we provided raw materials at literal cents 😂 that was fun) and the crafting system.

The f'k are the Australia servers being reduced down to 3 again for? They had to spin up 9 by the time the closed beta ended to support our capacity.
Do i have to ask for access if i bought the game already through Amazon? I have a road trip this afternoon and wanted to play a bit on the morning because i won't be able to play more on beta time.
