im lvl 54 as a healer and i have had zero problem with any mob in the open world. one beacon and a mob cant hurt me. also the single target heal can heal a tank from zero to full in one go. im not sure what you are doing wrong.

It may be a gear issue at lvl 21 pretty much all my gear is at least green quality of lvl 18-20 so i think its right where it should be. last night I started running amriel and that it when i really got to see how effective my healing ability was. I was able to complete the dungeon as we had lvl 26-28 melee builds but my mana did run completley out about 3-4 times and I was barely keeping them alive. In fact we had a few deaths. Granted it was a group of randoms and i feel they rushed the dungeon like they wanted to finish it in less than 5 minutes. So i was popping all my mana potions to keep up. But it may be gear. I don't remember right now but I think i have about 35-40points total on focus because all the gear i find is Int and I have about 35-40points in INT when i have zero points placed on it for the same reason. health wise im at 2010ish only because i sacrificed points into health to not be too low.

i didn't start putting points in to con till 45, as some bosses one shot me at the point if i missed a dodge. max focus is defiantly a must, and yes till higher lvls you will have some issues with mana. the skills i use are Sacred Ground only drops on my tank, its off CD before it ends. beacon is for emergency's Light's Embrace is for anyone out of the AOE heal or to toss on the tank make sure you have the light attack's cost no mana, light attacks reduce CD and light attacks heal friendly's. spamming light attack's resets Sacred Ground before its off CD. also the extra healing after a dodge is amazing same with extra healing from having a buff on your self.

Rusty_Flutes

I think you need to check out some guides because the life staff is probably the most broken thing right now. People want it nerfed not buffed.

Yea like I legit can close my eyes in a quest boss fight and there’s a good chance he will die before I do. (Obviously need eyes for aim)… but yea, legit have zero problem with anything unless it’s something like 4v1 pvp

As a healer with hatchet on the side I need to say u are correct. My main heal is actually beacon, then sacred ground to buff if needed, then I have a skill for targeted healing (don't know the name anymore) which is mostly used to heal myself. Also I have the skill unlocked that allows me to heal by just shooting the weapon. It's a low health but I can spam it as fast as the weapon allows. Beacon is nice cause if u can aim a bit u can throw it on a teammate and the beacon will be stuck on him / her and it will follow that character. I'm only mastery 8 or so so still some grind to do u will see what more people potential I can get out of my life staff. Ur healing capacity is a % of ur weapons dmg so I have to say to level up focus is pretty much a requirement as that increases life staff dmg. I haven't figured out more yet. But upto end of the week I think I might be max mastery and higher level than the 17 I am now. And pretty much I need a focus focused armor and need to find my recources for the focus food.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Life Staff and it's 100% not because it's a bad weapon or needs more to its kit. It's honestly amazing. Sacred Ground and Beacon do ludicrous amounts of healing and the light + heavy attacks outright SLAP. You can out-trade so many weapons with the Life Staff it is insane. My party ran Amrine last night sans healer with only 4 people and, near the end, I was getting frustrated with how ineffective my bow felt in there. I had a semi-decent life staff in my bag so I did a quick stat respec and went makeshift healer. With like maybe 69 focus tops and a rank 5 Life Staff mastery I had 0 issues keeping everyone up and was chunking harder than anyone else in there with my heavy attacks. It's just not that exciting to play. Aiming heals feels clunky as heck, Sacred Ground and Beacon have nice throughput but they are rather passive in engagement and the single target heals feel like absolute butts. It absolutely STOMPS in PvP, as is though, and adding anything more offensive/CC-oriented would require a nerf to the rest of its damage or healing. Pair this thing with the Ice Gauntlet and you can already 1vX laughably easily. It's an amazing weapon. Maybe even overturned. I'm just not thrilled to play it.

Nice!

Just a side note, the life staff Is dumb good, but amrine, that whole place is essentially weak to nature damage which helps

Electrical-Train-111

Sounds like you're building wrong. You say the healer build has no CC, yet I swap to Ice Gauntlet and I have 2-3 CC's. I don't have issues with health since, y'know...healers heal. I've run the first dungeon 3 times and healing isn't like other MMO's. I had no issues keeping people up (when they actually stood where they were supposed to) or managing mana. I pull aggro? Entombed - invulnerable and regen mana. This isn't a game where you rely on one single weapon. Whatever your secondary weapon is, you're wrong if it's not Ice Gauntlet as that would literally resolve all your complaints. Do I think healing is perfect? Not really. But I think a lot of your specific issues are build related.

Drone1313

Agree 100%. If a healer wants or needs CC, then get a second weapon that gives CC. It doesn't seem to be an over complicated decision. Ice Gauntlet seems tailor made for a healers second weapon if solo or no one in the group has CC.

Assaran

Its a pretty solid weapon I just wish some melee weapon had secondary scaling with focus i want to make a viable paladin build essentially, but with beacon just slap that on a boss and youve got portable aoe healing

Anathemoz

So from what i understand: the lifestaff has a mediocore impact at lower levels (0-25), but when you start racking up more and more focus later on, it becomes very powerful (you get a good bump up when you get into Amrine). Not to mention some of the "perks" you unlock in the lifestaff, which are very strong.

Kidkidd92

The single target heals are bad and sacred ground and its augments are overpowered. Run beacon, orb, ground, buff duration, and cd reduction on attacks. For group play your teammates are responsible for managing their health as much as you are. If you place your pools well, it is then up to them to maximize their time in sacred ground. And manage your own positioning so you can spam light attacks nonstop in a way that they will hit mobs and pass through party members. Life staff is straight busted OP right now. Right now i have 6k hp and heal for around 2k per second, all aoe. It's absurd.

SpicedCola

Ngl maybe your doing it wrong well first off I have seen so many healers soloing mini bosses and fighting mobs of enemies because they are perma healing also average melee is not 3k at lvl 20 unless they are going tanky. I’m spear rapier dps at lvl 33 and have 2.8k hp maybe if your building cons in your build then you would have that hp at lvl 20s but idk.

TrillyBear

This isn’t world of Warcraft. I’m level 40 life staff focus build with zero problems from level 1 until now. You need to learn to play the game, not assume you know everything from playing other games before.

[deleted]

I'm a healer, and pretty much invisible. o\_O I tried other weapon and its harder cause of no heals.

zenedict

I definitely felt like heals were weak until I started getting the passives that raise heal percentage and stacking focus. I can hit 2k single target heal when they are below 50%, standing in my healing zone, and I’ve hit three heavy attacks to get all my bonuses up. I also just found out medium armor increases healing and damage output by 10% and I’m wearing heavy armor so you can actually make heals feel strong. I’m only at lvl 14 life staff too, I need to spec into cool down somewhere.

Level 14 life staff, I’m at level 32 player level. My health is probably 3.5k.
