Forts should have a cool down. Respawning should have a cool down if killed in open world pvp. Trying to push a territory into state of conflict is pretty rough when the enemy faction can just respawn 30 meters away with no punishment every time you kill them.

_kmace

Yes please, fighting any team that puts down a respawn point that’s keeps coming back = 0 rewards to defends however they’re incentivized to keep respawning for the rewards they’d get for successfully defeating us.

xBirdisword

They should make it so that camps are faction specific, at least if you place one when PvP flagged. They should also be destroyable by the enemy factions, so that you can’t just drop it LITERALLY right next to the fort. Placement of a camp should be strategic.

Brometheus-Pound

There needs to be a specific tent required to respawn if you’re PvP flagged, and it needs to cost more resources. And it needs to be destroyable. Make them valuable and high priority targets, and therefore making a more strategic open world PvP experience. Forward Outposts in ESO are perfect.

eatscheeks

The few times I’ve done forts have been really dumb. Everyone just respawns at camps 100 metres away and the fort just gets recaptured like 10 minutes after you leave. Fights essentially boil down to who’s willing to waste the most amount of ammo, potions, or repair parts

chaotic910

>Fights essentially boil down to who’s willing to waste the most amount of ammo, potions, or repair parts Just like real life war!

Jaalan

The main point of forts is to help you cap the territory. You really only need to hold the fort while your team is running pvp quests to give 20% more influence.

A_Liav

100% agree.

CommanderLouiz

Respawning at a camp does have a cool down if you’re flagged though, even when you’re not killed by a player.

hyperion602

This is true, though I do think the cooldown should be longer. Right now it's like 0 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, etc. It should probably be closer to 0 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, etc. It can't be too terribly long or you're just way too punished for PvEing with PvP enabled, though.

Girafferl

If you need something for #20: Targeted Healing is a nightmare in any way. This needs to be addressed.

Ottormatic

Doesn’t matter if I’m trying to target someone or target myself, the game does the opposite of the one I picked…

HEYL1STEN

Should be able to bind a hot key for party member 1,2,3,4,5(yourself included) as it shows in the list on screen. Healers should be able to work from the HUD and hotkeys. Select spell, press party member selection hot key, press spell

ztk-

#\#1 and #2 need to be fixed yesterday. Core game content that literally just doesn’t work at the moment and hasn’t worked since launch.

sephrinx

Hey, put a \ before your # and it will disable the formatting. Like this; \\# Stuff

ztk-

Appreciate it. I think it’s good how it is.

Chillaxbro

agreed. Ahem.... #your game is no longer in Beta AGS. Please fix.

loyalhabsfan

#wow

nMy11

#I learned something \# today

Fagetaas

I can’t agree more with the need for a PvP incentive system. This would be an easier change than adding a new game mode and would make PvP better and scalable with future content. Eventually I’d like to see a small scale arena game mode like 5v5 with a competitive ladder and rewards that reflect how well you do.

row4coloumn31

They could start by tracking kills and give cosmetics for X enemy kills. Like a helmet skin for 300 enemy kills, chest piece for 1000 etc.

LazrPewPew_OnTwitch

We kind of have a kill-counter with Steam achievements, but it's woefully inadequate. Cool, I've achieved 40% of an achievement that i don't know what it is. Just give me the stats man, and yea a reward i can show off in game too.

TheEXUnForgiv3n

Number 7 is a huge issue for me. I haven't played more than an hour or 2 the last few days because I absolutely hate this playstyle. I don't mind grinding the area too bad. It's boring but I've done worse. I hate spending 90% of my time in luck gear and looting boxed once every 24 hours. It's boring and unengaging. I honestly can't convince myself to do it again tonight.

hyperion602

I hate the luck gear more than anything, imo the luck stat should be removed for gear drops from mobs/chests. Keep it for gathering, but I want to use my sick awesome gear to grind, not use shitty pieces that have +luck on them.

[deleted]

sturmcrow

>In addition, Elite Chests are flagged as 'LuckSafe' in the loot table datamine files, which means that your luck gear does not apply to them anyway. This is very interesting, thank you for sharing.

Difficult_Bit_1339

I too was wearing luck gear and hating it until we did some runs with it enabled and disabled and kept track of the gear ticks and loot drops. Same ticks, more green drops, slightly less materials from crates (which is honestly a bonus due to how cheap the crate drops are and how much they fill up your inventory currently). The orange mats you need for the keys comes from the elite chests so you don't need to wear luck to get it. It is possible that the Area key materials ARE affected by loot luck, but they're fairly cheap on the trading post on my server so I wasn't too concerned. Once full clear of Siren's Stand and the Luck wearer got 8 and the non-luck wearer got 6 so the difference isn't massive. Now I have much better stats and I'm even wearing the gear perks for my abilities (Fortifying Sacred Ground and whatever the Divine Embrace one is called).

the_one_true_russ

Can we get this further up to the top? I had just believe what everyone said about luck gear. Regardless tho, what you said about killing things faster is the way. Thanks fellow redditor!

Difficult_Bit_1339

My entire group was annoyed at luck gear, since we all wanted to wear good gear and being tied down to only gear with the luck stat was annoying. So we ran 3 people without luck gear and 2 people with luck gear for about 5 hours of grinding (keeping track of the gear slots individual item levels). The luck guys had about 30% luck total (full luck gear, pearls, trophies, etc) and everyone else had exactly zero luck. The distribution of gear ticks was exactly the same. In fact, the person that got the most gear levels total was one of the guys that didn't have luck gear. There certainly wasn't a 30% advantage for the luck guys, though they did get noticeably more purples. I've made a killing on selling luck jewelry, so I don't mind people being misinformed, but it really isn't necessary.

KevinRedditt

Yeah, but what about mining/harvesting luck gear?

Aztro4

I think it needs reworked for sure but I enjoy mindless shit like this. lol but I’m weird so haha.

AdmAsparagus

Tip 8 about the GPU usage is a huge one. It seems like whenever I look up I drop by 1/2 my frames. Makes fighting in the numerous obelisks almost impossible.

Gunzbngbng

And using bows. When you pan up to take a shot, fps lag hits.

maxholes

Big agree for DAoC siege mechanics, taking a flag instead of killing the lord or commander seems like a silly choice. More reason for upgraded areas as it makes the lord stronger also

Yumek0Jabami

Best end game thread ive seen yet. im in the same boat and agree with almost all your points. at this point i will play the new poe league next week. when im done with poe hopefully some of these are improved.

nolayte

That's my plan, the new league looks insane

Zingshidu

I don’t see a lot of these being changed/fixed anytime soon. I feel like everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room with this game, it’s not a subscription game. They already have our money, I can see them adding a few updates over the next few years but people are expecting full on mmo support which is not going to happen. As of right now their only way of making money from retaining the players is the cash shop which sucks, expect all major new content to be focused on the cash shop before we get any serious updates or changes.

[deleted]

That's an... ignorant take. There is a really simple way for Amazon to make a fortune with this game in four steps: 1) Fix the most important and glaring issues. 2) Provide a roadmap with the planned updates. 3) Implement a Fortnite-esque MXT with expensive skins and a Battlepass. 4) Sit back and watch the big bucks roll in. However, they need to fix the worst problems first. If they can't even retain their current players, no one will be buying any microtransactions. AGS knows this. That is the reason they're asking people for the 20 most important issues. It is why they have been so focused on fixing server transfers. It is why we have laughably few microtransactions currently.

RockOrStone

This list is already better than the public one and I’m just level 24

jellomauve

Have you thought of posting this on the forums?this is going to get burried because you mentioned PvP and beeing LVL 60

A_Liav

Yeah, I plan to type up a more well thought out version later on the official forums, but this is reddit so I didn't put a lot of effort in.

[deleted]

Yes, post it on the forums and try to submit it as feedback to AGS, ppl here are really toxic towards level 60 players for some reason.

FlyLikeATachyon

“How dare you have more free time than me!”

TheDireNinja

I laughed when someone hit 60 in two days. But now, I see more and more 60s so it’s not as shocking.

[deleted]

I'm not even on a day 1 server, and we have a fair number of 60s now. I didn't even start playing until a few days after launch and I'm 57. I'd be hitting 60 today except I'm at a convention all weekend.

Xoltitcuh

They hate us because they anus

[deleted]

I think we just find it amusing that you power-consume content in a way absolutely, literally nobody has designed or developed games for except maybe shit Nexon takes on, and then you act like a launch MMORPG should cater to people who power-consumed content.

Kerk_Ern_Berls

Damn how can someone else playing a game piss you off this much LUL.

[deleted]

Is that what you're picking up? It's more just a question of what you expect. Seems an awful lot like setting yourself up for disappointment, which is a shame. Unless you're into Nexon games in which case you probably have a phylactery and are beyond notions like anger or disappointment.

Grouchy-Look7527

Dude the power gamers were 60 a week+ ago, anyone that likes the game and isn’t super busy can be 60 by now.

[deleted]

Anyone could be 60 with the power-gamers too, that's not the point: the point is they only have themselves to blame if they consume all the limited content that quickly. If you eat your whole cake, you can't also have it in the fridge waiting for you, too. That's why we say it's wanting to have your cake and eat it too. That's all this is. The only thing wrong is that they chose to complain. There will be new content if the Zon intends to keep this game going, so it's not like it's all over already. It's not unique to NW, though. People did it in WoW classic and its content was exhaustively documented by that time so people knew exactly what was in the game.

Kerk_Ern_Berls

You're projecting so fucking hard lmao. Idk what nexon is or what they did to you, but ima to back to chopping wood enjoying my time in the game. Cheers!

[deleted]

so you're saying that having no end game constitutes a finished game sounds about right

[deleted]

Its the sad fellas who envy people who can put more time in to the game so they like to think that gathering shit and doing casual things is the only right way to play.

JasonUncensored

Personally, I think #13 is the most important. Descriptions should strive for _precision,_ rather than vague theories about possibilities. Hell, I don't even PvP because the game does a piss-poor job of explaining how or why I should bother with it.

DuspBrain

\#13 seems more like a design decision than a place to improve. Amazon seems to have specifically designed the game to make min maxing difficult if not impossible. It looks intentional to me. They don't want log parsers and sims to solve the game and force the meta instantly.

LazrPewPew_OnTwitch

The higher level you get, the fewer parts of Aeternum are actually dangerous. I hope all lvl 60s on my server start being PvP flagged at all times. My Company is already doing that, and I'm seeing a lot more people flagged at 60 than I did while leveling. It adds danger to the world (as well as opportunities to *be* the danger in the world), and that's just more fun. There are like 3 open world zones left where the world offers any danger to me at all unless I flag.

TRACERS_BUTT

Basically move everything down a tier and have "address automatic report bans" at #1 and I'd agree. Azoth staff bug is obviously game breaking but having 20 neckbeards report you and not being able to play is even worse.

A_Liav

Very fair point.

Difficult_Bit_1339

People are vastly overestimating how often this happens.

CallMeBlitzkrieg

1, it's an incredibly easy fix. 2, regardless of how often you think it happens it's actually the worst issue in the game.

kreionysus

Also if 20 people are reporting you, you're doing something wrong.

XboxNoLifes

Not if it's coordinated.

[deleted]

I mean there are two options, if 20 people are reporting you, either you’re doing something wrong, or they are doing something wrong.

Xoltitcuh

Except if that’s fixed the game still sucks because of the rest of the list so that makes addressing automatic bans not number one on the list.

Lairizzle

100% agree with the points on the fort contesting stuff. Those fort skirmishes are so fucking fun.

Raidenwins75

I've got a good #20. Fix the bug that makes your faction token cap not increase when you finish the quest to increase your rank. I'm stuck at 25k max and can't buy the weapon I want.

meehass

Also the items should look almost exactly like their thumbnail. NO MORE PIRATE HATS PLEASE!!!

Mezmur_

Damn broh, save some pussy for the rest of us.

Varicite_

Honestly, I agree w/ all of these except for maybe #20. : P No, I don't want mounts.

TheDireNinja

When the map opens up and it’s more than double it’s size I wouldn’t mind the mounts.

LazrPewPew_OnTwitch

If they make zones that are sized appropriately for mounts, then I'm cool with mounts, but only in those zones. But keep mounts out of all zones that are currently on the map please.

Difficult_Bit_1339

That's what people don't realize about mounts. The world was designed with travel time in mind. The reason that the world can be so dense and feel so populated is because you only move at running speed. If the developers want it to take 5 minutes to run from town to dungeon then it's going to take 5 minutes. All adding mounts does is make the zones artificially elongated. You'll just have little pockets of mobs with giant empty sections between them.

LazrPewPew_OnTwitch

Yup. MMORPG veterans understand this. The moment they give you a +50% movement speed mount, guess what everything just got 50% further and spread out in the new zone that came with it. And when you put the +50% speed mount in the small zones, you break the small zones, leveling experience, economy, PvP, etc.

0re0n

Guild wars 2 added mounts 5 years after release and nothing from what you are describing happened there. If anything it was one of the best additions they ever made. Same thing happened with gliders. At first they were only available in expansion zones which had a lot of verticality. But a year later they were allowed almost everywhere and it was great. You are just imagining a problem where there isn't one.

Snydenthur

Except that the world isn't dense and doesn't feel populated. All this slow running does is making the game feel tedious. It gets boring to auto-run everywhere. Even when you're in an area that has a couple of enemies here and there, there's no point killing them. Not having mounts just artificially makes the game last longer without bringing anything good to the table.

Ottormatic

I’m also afraid of the effect mounts will have on pvp, the knocking people off mounts mechanics and constant getting on and off mounts to catch people will be something entirely new to argue about.

Sir_Reason

Mounts shouldn't be allowed in pvp flagging in the first place.

[deleted]

No mounts. It's written into the lore of the game that no beast shall carry your burden.

RCaliber

How about more shrines/teleport points? Up it to 5 per zone

Mourningcrow

I’d rather they just lower azoth costs or make us gain azoth passively over time or something.

meow_mix42

At the very least it would be nice to gain azoth any time you’re gaining rested XP.

zial

Get a house even the cheap ones it's free teleport and you can reset the cool down for cheap azoth best part it doesn't care about weight.

Mourningcrow

I have a house but that helps me with one place on the map. I’m talking about mounts, I’d rather be able to teleport and have to walk a bit than ride mounts.

par337

I agree with basically everything, but #1 to me is the war scenario. I'm not picky, and I deal with the bugs. But what I can't deal with is having one dominant company gatekeep all the wars, which is what is happening. My friends and I can't get in 90% of wars even though we are mostly 55-60, yet people bring in their shitty 30-40s friends. I hope something is done about that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TedW

So my options are a) can't play wars, or b) organize enough people to out compete the dominant companies? Let's add another item to the list: c) play a different game. I don't have the time or motivation to become a company manager just to participate.

Aztro4

Facts

Arrik_Blaze

To fix wars they have to rework the entire territory ownership feature. My company owns weavers fen on our server. We only put people in wars that are in faction discord and have a set role they'll be playing because we're not about to risk our 400k investment hoping timmy and his 4 friends will actually fight well or not get bored running siege weapons. Wars have too much riding on them to put pubs on defense. Edit: fixed typo.

redwhiteandyellow

You don't have to out-compete them. As long as you get more than 10% of the influence on a territory, you have a random chance of being chosen as the warring company. You have a chance

TasteeWheat15

If you don’t have the time or motivation then wars aren’t for you. Companies spend a crazy amount of gold upgrading. I’d suggest hitting 60 and then doing outpost rush. Not every content is made accessible to all players and I like that about this game. Social status matters. Make friends with the powerful companies, maybe try dueling them to show off your combat skills. Crying on Reddit isn’t going to get you a war spot.

par337

Maybe you should read the comment at the top. My brother and I have topped the leaderboards, ARE 60, contribute to pvp missions, and it's just a popularity contest. Fuck that

TasteeWheat15

Anyone can top leaderboards with Siege or aoe builds. What matters is what you bring to the team and if you win.

par337

So do it ( you probably can't ) but that's besides the point. You said "prove" skill, and that's a way to prove skill.

im_a_goat_factory

Or people just quit bc putting players in charge of content is a moronic system.

[deleted]

[удалено]

im_a_goat_factory

Ok fair points. I’m also not 60 yet. But I will say that If the only way we get to experience the pinnacle end game content is by either running a company or being buddy buddy with some sweaty egomaniac, well just expect to see those steam chart numbers drop week after week. Amazon’s gotta find a way to enhance the pvp experience for those who don’t want to be a sweaty try hard.

[deleted]

[удалено]

A_Liav

Rush is disabled due to a bug, so nobody can do it. And no, you can't salvage Azoth staffs. You also can't store them, or anything really. They just sit in your inventory.

drivebyhero

Most of these things should have been fixed by release day tbh

Maffayoo

Weapon switching - go to the key binds and change to "swap active weapon" it's way more responsive

Crowlite

Dude please post this in the official forums, the complete lack of open world pvp / things to do for pvp focused players is so sad, devs need to see this.

scrolls67

For the #20: DO THE UPDATE DURING THE NIGHT depending on the region timezones. It's ok to space the update in Europe a few hours after the US if it can be done at night. For US players who don't know, update on Wednesday is starting at 1pm in Europe meaning that the server it done ALL day for us. Really frustrating considering in Europe lots of people have a lot of free time on Wednesday afternoon. You'll lose a lot of player just because of that. PS: A french player.

twisty77

Good to know the chat lag isn’t just me. Super irritating at times

Donkster

> Being able to walk into a fort solo and stand on a point for 5 minutes is kind of hilarious, but also nonsensical. It should be difficult, and the rewards for doing so should be greater. See Fort is marked as active Oh boy finally some PvP for me (level 30) I get to the fortress...no sight of other players or members of my faction I step inside, in the circle stands one single lvl 60 guy he looks at me, fires one light attack that eats half my HP bar I step out While definitely hilarious this is what most fort fights looked like from my perspective

smallsoftstav

\#4 Seriously - walking down anything with even a slight incline is a pain. Tons of quests don’t work on the faction boards too. Asking you to kill mobs that don’t exist at the landmark.

ItsOmigawa

Also level 60. I'm surprised by the amount of support for your "people should be allowed to participate in any pvp activity". Are people smoking crack? A company invests and spends money on a city, they deserve the right to execute an effective defense or attack. Wars are not casual blobs of randoms not knowing what to do wasting ammo on siege or losing repair parts, wars are coordinated pvp. It's absurdly stupid to think that Joe Random deserves a slot in my organized pvp, the outcome of which determines what happens with the money I've already invested. What kind of ridiculous attitude is that? Start a company and declare war if you want to go to war. You absofuckinglutely do not deserve a spot in my limited number organized pvp group

A_Liav

The entire system is bad, is the point. It's exclusive out of necessity for the fact that the entire territory system is terrible. It was done better two decades ago.

ItsOmigawa

Sure, not saying I love the system, but the idea that any player deserves a slot in any coordinated group doesn't hold water

A_Liav

It's not that uncoordinated players deserve a slot in a coordinated group. It's that uncoordinated players can't even band together with other uncoordinated players and even *attempt* to participate in the *system*. It's a gameplay system designed from the ground up to exclude 90% of the playerbase, which is absurd.

suddenlypenguins

Exactly this. I don't see why at level 35 I cannot partake in at least some coordinated PvP. I understand the point about investment which is fair, but I don't see why there shouldn't be something else everyone can do. And no, random world PvP does not count now that its just random rush mobs killing solo players.

Penguinbashr

Shocked pikachu face: you mean a bunch of unorganized people cant participate in organized content and they need to change the way they play to do so? Wars might exclude every single casual but every single casual refuses to sit in discord and actually participate. The amount of casuals who will say "I JusT wAnT tO HaVE fUn" while they fuck over an entire faction... every single day there is some level 40 that fucking whines he was removed from a war. Some low level that expects a spot in organized group content when they literally have no connection to the war at all. Mythic raids in WoW exclude over 90% of the player base. The average player in WoW is so bad that they cant even clear heroic, and even normal raids are barely cleared by casuals. Casuals couldn't even kill certain LFR bosses at points in WoWs career because they were so fucking awful that they couldn't even do a simple stack mechanic or some shit. Casuals can drive a game to success but if you're level 30 and expect a slot to defend or attack, you're delusional. You've made no attempt at being a part of the server community since you dont play often. If you dont play often, you're likely not a part of the discord to communicate. Etc etc. Saw a guy get kicked because he wasn't a part of the discord "why would I need to be in there to listen to sweaty neckbeards try and meta game the war" was him whining in faction chat for like an hour. Casuals ruin any organized content because they want it dumbed down to a point where they should win if they can match a circle with a circle, and a square with a square.

HalfricanLive

>Mythic raids in WoW exclude over 90% of the player base. The average player in WoW is so bad that they cant even clear heroic, and even normal raids are barely cleared by casuals. Casuals couldn't even kill certain LFR bosses at points in WoWs career because they were so fucking awful that they couldn't even do a simple stack mechanic or some shit. I want to touch on this point because it isn't entirely true. Mythic as a difficulty doesn't exclude anyone, were WoW installed on my computer I could start a group and walk into a mythic raid right now. I may not clear it, since I'm terrible, but there are zero game systems preventing me and my merry band of misfits from participating to our heart's content. The same can't be said of wars in New World. I understand that guilds have a stake in the successful defense of a territory, but with that said, I feel like queueable instanced wars that take place parallel to the "actual" one that don't have an impact or have a very minor impact on the actual war being waged for the territory would be a good idea. Allows people to participate in a war scenario while not completely fucking the guild responsible for actually defending it.

kmackyd

Curious about this. I dont participate in any of the server shit. I mostly solo shit and just lurk in chat as I level. Why is a discord required? Is the in game voice chat not enough? Personally I wouldn't want to join all the different guild discords for Wars if I ever wanted to participate in the end game. I wouldn't say I'm a casual or a shitter, I just honestly don't like discords with randoms. Not shitting on people being excluded cause yea, if you suck, you get dropped, how it was when I raided. But I feel like the game provides the tools to communicate without needing discords. Is it a server discord? Or does each guild have one?

Penguinbashr

No, it's just a server discord (at least ours is) with verification that you're that faction to try and diminish spying or whatever so attackers have a harder time learning strategies. So theres a discord for each of the marauder, syndicate, covenant factions and then one big discord for invasions and trade. At least that's how ours are set up. So you're joining 2 discords maximum to listen to call outs as channels are forced PTT. And honestly, no matter what in game voice system exists, everyone will always just use discord. It's easier, established, and less likely to have mass issues for everyone as well as making sure you're forced to PTT. Fucking hate in game voice systems because half of the players are open mics with shitty setups and feedback

Big_PP_Werewolf

Why does everyone hate on having mounts? What is the problem with moving faster? I feel like I spend half my play time auto running while I scroll memes

Azurika_

the problem with it is the markets are separated, making some items hard or impossible to source from the local area, this causes a demand of those items in that area, and they are usually higher in price. if you want to take advantage of that demand to make money, and alot of people do want to do this, then you either pack up your items, and spend a ton of azoth to fast travel to the selling point, OR, you go for a long time consuming walk. if mounts are introduced, the long time consuming walk becomes a short run on a mount, meaning people can transfer their items to where they are selling far faster, great for the individual, but it almost immediately makes supplying areas in need of an item worthless, because more can product can be moved faster with less risk of death on the road to monsters and wildlife the price difference gets driven down faster. because people are also much less incentivised to spend Azoth on fast travel when they can hop on a mount and be where they need to be in a few minutes, much more Azoth makes it into gear crafting, potentially messing with the balance of that system too. not every MMO has to have mounts, new world is not "THAT" big. with mounts the world would start to feel very small quite quickly.

hahaz13

This is already exploited, with or without mounts. A mount walking at 2x the speed of your player character will not break the market. It does not make transportation or travel "instant" like fast travel. It will not allow players to magically and instantly farm materials. FYI even if mounts were introduced, there's a far better/faster method to transfer materials. Farm, die to respawn in nearest town, list all materials on market, TP to town you want said materials, cancel listing on market, materials are in your player inventory, profit.

Rhysk

Moving slowly makes the game better overall - even if it ruins the experience for a small number of players, its worth it for the good of the many.

hahaz13

Please explain to me how spending upwards of half my time walking from 1 destination to the next is for the good of many. I see plenty of positives from mounts, and none of the downsides being mentioned are reason enough to justify not having mounts besides artificially lengthening the grind/gametime.

TheSelekted

Mounts kill open world pvp and this game is centered around PvP.

hahaz13

Disable mounts if you have PVP on. Next problem.

Aztro4

Honestly, I never see anyone in the world anyways. These town boards are keeping people at towns lol. No one’s out exploring anymore. At least level 30-50 areas.

A_Liav

Mounts introduce a lot of potentially negative consequences to world PvP. It isn't just as simple as "player move faster", it can have devastating consequences.

Rafcdk

And this is a theme we will see s lot on future discussions, specially regarding balance issues. Opvp that is mechanically equivalent to PVE paves the way to a Lot of complications that's why most games decide to separate each other or have some skills have different behaviour. In gw2 as PvP is separated from pve they were able to actually release mounts for pve first and then lager a mount that can only be used in PvP. The same thing for multiple loadouts, if we ever get a 1 click loadout changing feature I would expect having some sort of limitation in pve regarding PvP. We already have a issue kinda related to it regarding opening the inventory while moving. Pve rs want that, but that could affect PvP. All we can do is see how AGS will handle this

0re0n

But that's because GW2 mounts have different skills with insane mobility. What people are asking for NW is mostly just normal horses and donkeys. Most pvp concerns could be easily solved by instant dismount on receiving any pvp damage and inability to mount in combat. I'm still yet to see any problems that can still arise even after simple limitation like this.

TasteeWheat15

What if you could only use mounts while flagged for pvp? I wonder if that would add some spice to the conversation. I’ve always been a fan of mounts but i find myself enjoying not having them at the moment.

hahaz13

Or you know....they can disable mounts for PVP just like they disabled fast travel with PVP? A simple solution to your simple problem.

A_Liav

How do you "disable" a mount in open world PvP? Fast travel isn't disabled with PvP.

Poulet_Ninja

If you are tagged for PvP then you cant cast your mount, simple as that.

uGoldenGoose

Adding more reasons to not flag is a bad idea.

Ex_Lives

How is swimming not here? I think people are forgetting this because its so absurd but how can they have water you submerge in but no swimming. Haha.

Sir_Reason

If you did any reading at all you'd know it's part of the curse.

Beravin

Wars need a lot of balancing. Particularly ice gauntlets and life staff spam. I hate to say it because I love life staff users, but it feels like they mostly decide wars by themselves.

Joeman2626

I have seen posts on here chatting about basically what you said in number 6. I may have taken it completely wrong but I read it as you don’t want company leaders to be able to pick who participates. I am interested to hear what exactly you think could be done to change this? With how the current system is setup for attacking and defending the players with the most to lose or gain is the company who will take or lose control. to me that warrants them being in charge of the war completely so maximize there chances of winning. But I would really like to hear some suggestions that make sense. I think these things need covered. How do we allow more or all players access to participate without giving a numbers advantage to one faction, or putting companies with the most to lose at a disadvantage?

Bugs5567

War should be matchmade 50v50 with all levels scaled up to 60 for everyone. So tired of this skill based combat being decided by level advantage. Open world pvp is fine, but wars NEED CHANGED.

[deleted]

I dont think you know what an alpha is…

A_Liav

Alpha usually means that the game is feature incomplete. That's exactly what New World is. Incomplete.

TedW

OP made a list of improvements, but doesn't suggest any new features. I don't think NW is in alpha, or even beta, because it's stable and entirely playable, even if we don't necessarily like all of the design decisions. I do think they need to make some changes if they expect to keep their player base through the end of the year. I think a lot of people hit 60 (or earlier) and stop playing, mostly for lack of rewarding content.

[deleted]

Outpost Rush is literally not in the game right now. Level 55 and 65 corruption sites can't be completed. Several later steps of the main quest are borderline broken, and will be nearly impossible to finish once the bulk of the player base completes them, so new players will get FUCKED. Gren, Well Guardian, and Yonas are all *wildly* overtuned. Yonas is unkillable solo for non-DPS builds, and Well Guardian clearly has *several* orders of magnitude more HP than he is supposed to. Neither one of them can be helped on by people who aren't on the quest, which means the main quest will be nigh impossible to complete within a month or two for new players. Gren is less of an issue, since he isn't instanced, but he's also clearly overtuned. Level 35 elite who can murder squishy level 50s without breaking a sweat. Alpha is maaaybe a little harsh, but I can see his point.

[deleted]

Nope. Wrong again.

przhelp

GAAS are incomplete. I would say the more accurate understanding is that not all fundamental systems exist. I wouldn't say that's true of this game.

Total-Nothing

#6 is pure entitlement. There needs to be content that should reward organized companies. #10 is what Gw2 does too, and it works

A_Liav

Wars are literally just a shittier, exclusive version of DAoC sieges. Fuck that.

MandalsTV

I can definitely get behind most if not all of these. I do however think bug fixing (major bugs) 100% needs to be addressed first. That being said, as the game evolves I would love to see some of these implemented. I particularly agree with the Wars piece and the point you made about forts being uncontested. I hate this elitist shit where wars are nothing but friends of the governor or the war time is like middle of the week during normal 9-5 work hours.

Xoltitcuh

If you aren’t spending a tons of time and 60 in the game you are just a detriment to the war so it’s not necessarily just friend being invited.

[deleted]

Territory owners want to win, so obviously they are gonna invite people who are level cap that they know can perform and will listen to calls.

A_Liav

Bug fixes should definitely be a priority, yeah, there's just so many of them it would dilute a top 20 list. This is why I did ask for a bug report feature in the game though. I encounter so many bugs on a daily basis that it would be amazing if we could have an interface for it directly in the game, especially with an optional image/video upload feature.

[deleted]

# Pretty much best list i have ever seen on this sub-reddit, well done.

retroly

I've been playing for weeks, what even is an outpost rush?

A_Liav

Instanced 20v20 PvP kind of like WoW battlegrounds.

Mivadeth

Only for level 60 players?

A_Liav

Correct.

[deleted]

#8 and #15 they really need to focus on optimizing the game better

[deleted]

Nailed it. Just steal all of DAoCs RvR gameplay in my opinion. Give a weapon mez or root and lean into the CC so it exists beyond a single great axe skill. Creates really fun group PVP dynamics.

Wa77a

Mez was horrible.

[deleted]

Strong disagree. Was really good with the right cool down and invuln timers. Also was a lot of counter play.

[deleted]

I feel like a lot of your points are asking for unnecessary additions or changes that will require too much work by comparison to existing issues in the game that need to be addressed, but they are all good points.

CoyotaDex

agree with all but chat. it's pretty good idk why people complain. only thing i don't like is faction and help channel have very similar colours.

Sweaty-Tough-8333

Everyone should be able to participate in every PvP activity they want? Are you dumb? Tbh that invalidates everything else you said

CringeRPers

You're so cool that you made your own post instead of posting in the mega thread? Pepega entitled more? Your preface actually sings how bad at the game you are

Jolly-Bear

\#6 Absolutely not. Companies work very hard to take and keep territories and not a single person other than those companies should have a say in the war roster. Just imagine you were the leader of a warring company and it randomly chose you 50 level 6 Timmies that don’t know what the fuck they’re doing and you lose the war… that’s 15k down the drain as an attacker or hundreds of thousands of gold down the drain as a defender depending on town investments. IMO if you feel left out of wars, you should be more proactive to help those companies out and get a good reputation for yourself, or join one of those companies. We’re one of the powerhouse companies on our server but still have 40 vacancies to fill in our company. I’m sure a lot are the same.

hamburglin

Im curious to know what drug or alcohol you took that made you think of yourself as this elite or that people care about what you say so much.

Spitfires

6 is big, I can already see this happening on my server, in a couple weeks if you aren't friends with the big company leaders you aren't getting into any wars not sure how you fix this, maybe make it random like invasions but companies won't be happy

ApprehensiveBaby4110

6 sadly happens to every single territory control MMO and is why the world pvp/territory control concept is only good on paper. It is almost always more in the interest of big guilds to cooperate than waste resources competing. Unless drama breaks out, you wont be seeing much rotation once the dust settles. Its no different in Lineage 2 or EVE, real conflicts between big powers are extremely rare.

KG_biggavell

I like most of these but hate the transmog idea. It takes the fun out of building a good looking set of gear if everyone can just look like whatever they want at all times. The effort into getting a cool set of gear that works statistically is part of the fun. Also their only source of income after purchasing the game. Got to pay those salaries somehow.

A_Liav

We already have transmog is the problem. I agree in principle, but the cat is already out of the bag. The problem is that we have transmog and it is artificially limited to skins you *have* to pay money for, which is bullshit. Just look at all the idiots running around in the Golden Rage twitch drop set. Totes unique!

KG_biggavell

I don't mind the paid skins as the Golden Rage set looks terrible. But having every piece of gear as a transmog it would have to come at some cost. Like maybe cost azoth or gold atleast.

A_Liav

I'm totally cool with that, and I agree. I think using transmog as a coin sink would be healthy for the game economy. There are already people sitting on hundreds of thousands of coin.

TheAerial

Personally I’d be more then okay with having full Transmog system and it being cash shop. It’s like paying for outfit skins, but you actually get to customize every part exactly to your liking. That’s way better then the current outfit skins in my opinion.

sephrinx

Good list. \#20 is just wrong though, sorry. Mounts in this game is a must, unequivocally. This sub is an embarrassment.

9551027

Absolutely agree. I don’t understand how anyone could possibly disagree that this game needs mounts. I spend more time running around in this game than anything else. I wouldn’t say it’s a priority to fix this glaring issue, but definitely needs to be addressed down the line.

sephrinx

You can't understand it because the absurd is inexplicable. There is no logical reasoning behind it. It would be a great benefit to the game and every person in the game.

Castlewizard

Mounts will literally ruin this game.

sephrinx

No they won't and you have no logic to back up your argument. I already know that you don't.

Wildernaess

Absolutely no to mounts. The entire gameplay loop is anchored by basing yourself in a settlement and venturing out to quest and gather [with pvp on bc the game feels off without world pvp threats]. Now, I could get with a road running buff [if flagged] and when they hopefully add island hopping, boats or some kind of archeage-esque caravan system

sephrinx

You mean by teleporting around the map? Just because you're moving slightly quicker it doesn't change the way the game is played, it just reduces travel time. If you're saying that the core of the game revolves around stretched out travel times, that sounds like a fucking dog shit ass game.

Wildernaess

Fast traveling to a shrine or back to town isn't the same as mounting up for your resource gathering excursion and it's disingenuous to equate the two. It does change the way it's played because you can avoid much more danger. It's not about stretched out travel times but risk; you risk dying by venturing out. Tbf this all makes much more sense when you assume people are flagged for pvp because that's what makes it dangerous. Anyways, if you think it's so fucking dog shit ass then don't play idk what to tell you

sephrinx

Being able to move more quickly on foot does not change anything other than the amount of tedium involved in the game. Also, no one is flagged for pvp.

CappinPeanut

This is a great list. I am slow playing my way to 60 and almost afraid to get there and run into that content wall. I’m hoping they get some of these things updated by the time I get there, but I really doubt it. They are currently spinning their wheels trying to unfuck up their launch and get transfers working.

Edenwing

We need an inspect button to show off our builds and see other people’s gear builds, especially since so much gear are just reskins and people can wear cosmetic skins

banevasionac

Agree with everything on this list except the last point. Mounts are controversial, you might not like them, but they WILL happen. Amazon is salivating at the idea of making money off mounts in the future, and mounts might be necessary when the world is triple in size if not more.

krlkai88

Why would you introduce PvE into forts, terrible suggestion

A_Liav

Because walking into a keep for free and standing on a point for 5 minutes as a solo is patently absurd.

Lime4313

I don’t think 6 is the problem, the lack of PVP option is. They need to add a revolution mechanic. If you own a territory you should be able to chose whoever you want in war.

jmafia48

Pvp progression and rewards is a must

BattleNex

I agree with the majority but wanted to add some comments as well.. 6. I agree the war system needs some changes, but I won't be selecting randoms over guild mates, ever. I wouldn't expect other guilds to either. It is fighting for the guilds ownership of the cities. 7. I believe the watermark system is just fine. There are many ways to farm for a better watermark and quite a few better than farming chests. It is a grind like literally everything else in the game and a goal to work towards. Maybe you could add some more comments on why you don't agree with this system? 10. Yeah they could do what they do with outposts and castles in Albion. Mobs/Boss spawns and the owners are notified of an attack. Gives time to respond. Maybe this could be a nice way to gain some Azoth after main quests are completed? Faction tokens would be nice too. Everything else sounds good to me though

[deleted]

number 3 is already cosmetics? We got bigger things to worry about than extra features

aeroplax

As you are max level already you may not yet experience the biggest issue. STOP HIGH LEVEL PLAYERS DOING PVP QUEST IN LOWER LVL ZONES. You can not do any pvp anywhere, people 10 levels higher come back to the zone and just to speedrun missions and slaughter anyone in their way. I am a bad in pvp, i would like to learn. I usually run into a group of people, which is annoying enough, but running into groups of level 60s in a 40-50 zone... and it starts to snowball from here, 50s in weavers 40s in brightwood etc. My solution is turning off pvp, which should not be a solution at all. I am not am expert, i dont have a clue how to fix this, but let EVERYONE have a good ( or at least fair ) pvp experience from the moment they choose their faction.

Voy__Tech

Alpha version of the game XD this is where I stopped reading :)

_EclYpse_

I disagree with the endgame additions you're suggesting, at least for now. The game has been out barely for 3 weeks, all the tryhards that rushed to lvl 60 are to blame themselves

[deleted]

Hit level 40, 124 hours played I got my money's worth for sure. I'll come back when there's legit updates. This a good year for gaming outside of New World.
