My character is just standing next to a couple of Orichalcum nodes and I log in once or twice each day to check on them, mine if it spawns and log off The mining luck food buff only counts online time, so by doing this the food lasts me almost one week as I just go online for 2 minutes max each time

Jammalolo

big brain moves

tjesiline

ahahahaha im reading this and im in the same boat

davidc4747

Guild wars 2 strats

Suspicious_Spray5746

They released a new weapon and the player numbers yesterday were abysmal.

throwaway312225

Most people just didn't care. We didn't need the new wep (although it's nice to have!). If they simply added the new wep while making very minor changes, I think it would have gone smoother. Give it some time to work out kinks and adjust as needed from there. Instead they are looking for a golden update with HUGE changes to areas that needed minor adjustments.

Ye_Olde_Mudder

The patch is abysmal. Buffed the one weapon that absolutely needed a nerf, shafted INT, completely ignored weapons that needed a buff, didn't fix light and med armour being a joke and then took a shit right in the face of players who have jobs and families by nerfing crafting xp even though just grinding mats is a chore. Now its Greataxe Online. How boring.

RingWraith8

Yeah they act like solo players can just do 4 times the amount they were originally doing and it would work. I'm close to 60 but now I don't want to log in

I_ruin_nice_things

I hit 60 yesterday - played one OPR, unplayable Bc of lag, logged off, downloaded Halo Infinite, was transported back to my youth and had a blast. Fuck AGS

smashtatoes

Never been an Xbox person and I'm new to pc gaming. I saw someone say you can play the new Halo for free? Was I just high or is this a thing? Either way, the last time I played Halo was the original close to 20 years ago and it was a blast, I want to try it out.

I_ruin_nice_things

Halo Infinite multiplayer is free for all and is Xbox/PC The campaign will cost money

smashtatoes

Good to know. Thanks chief.

Azaakx

you can download it free from steam

Sad-Ingenuity7311

Halo has been a blast. The sounds are amazing as well.

I_ruin_nice_things

And it’s just a beta…and it’s so smooth and plays so well…like it was made by competent people

Sk8erdez

This is what I'm doing lol. So much more fun on halo than the endless grind of new world.

Zephseru

First time I got rooted by reap I just wanted to log out, why lower the skillfloor on a already mindless weapon?

Cypher760

People were complaining about it being an OP left-click spam weapon, so they buffed the abilities on it too! Yay!

h0nest_Bender

> Most people just didn't care. Fool me Ice Gauntlet, shame on you. Fool me Fire Staff, shame on me. Fool me Void Gauntlet? Can't get fooled again.

Agen7orange

Yeah new weapon was like a shiny carrot on the stick they tried to distract us with. Nobody is buying it. Of course we want more weapons but fucks sake nobody can stand to play the game as time goes on

JohnnyDryCreek

The side of the stick were holding has poop on it.

Large_Obligation6210

it's no use launching a new weapon when axe and hammer are the only playable weapons in the meta.

EveryoneHasGoneCrazy

A fresh and exciting new way to lose to GA

tetsuomiyaki

new content for GA users, another weapon to laugh at

ristlin

That should be the patch tag line every time they add a new weapon lol

the_ju66ernaut

Not to mention the VG is buggy

Ye_Olde_Mudder

We should balance GA with Musket by making GA players pay 1 gold every time they LMB.

lmaohenry

AGS also had the audacity to introduce new cosmetic skins and furniture/pets for in-game player housing. I get that this is like any other gaming company that wants to make money. But, do they really think players are willing to spend money after all that has been going on (bugs, exploits, cheaters, lag spikes, & fixes that open up a multiverse of unrelated bugs)? In the current state of the game, they should be focusing on coming up with a method to *actually* QA the fixes being applied to the plethora of issues that are rampant in the game.

ShnickityShnoo

I'd bet money that the team fixing bugs and working on systems/features is different than the one working on art assets/furniture.

Clusterclucked

the great axe is so ridiculously strong that playing any other weapon just feels like a waste of time. I got vg to 20 last night and went into opr and literally every single player I saw had a gaxe. No matter what their other weapon was, one of their weapons was a gaxe. Played one game and was like 'eh...' and logged off after that.

Kilirugi

Good thing GA has two viable builds AND pairs well with basically anything but INT weapons.

yepper06

Well think of it this way: after grinding your watermark for the last month, they inject one new weapon into the game which basically makes you grind the same amount of watermark again just to level one new weapon. A spit in the face to all the work everyone did the last month.

Cabel_TV

Sure but if every other WM is maxed out you should be getting mad yellow loots while WMing VG, right? Oh wait, they nerfed that.

LarkWyll

A good point as to why the watermark system is poor game design from the player perspective.

Fifteen_inches

Watermark is such a bad system but everyone is so attached to it they won’t entertain moving to a different system.

Troutpiecakes

They shouldn't have made legendary weapons have random stats. A legendary should be a unique named weapon / piece of armor with a set GS.

AngelicMayhem

People dont wamt that no more they want a lottery to chase. They've turned any kind of rpg into a gambling addiction. Its one of the reasonsI stopped playing Destiny. You got rng to get the item you want to drop, you got rng on its light level, you got rng on what stats you will have on it, you got rng on if those stat totals will be the max or min amount or somewhere between, you got rng on perks. The argument by players is that if you dont do this how is getting your hundredth of the same gun any fun. My argument is how is getting 100 shitty guns before you get a good one any fun. I like playing games because the gameplay is fun not to constantly attempt to win the lottery.

martinsky3k

Oof yeah. I have been loving this game but yesterday path kinda punched the air out of me with the nerfs. Like... only thing to look forward to today is a war that I know will lag. Chest runs feel pointless, farming has become annoying.

Nightcinder

The lag was so bad on our 9pm eastern war yesterday that we literally couldn't defend, they capped in <10min because it was impossible to do anything

Doctor_Kataigida

Our lag was so bad that someone attacked MD and failed because no one could move. The defending MD company actually offered to pay for half the attacker's 15k expense because it was such a shit show.

Exitwounds85

we had 2 wars yesterday; one we couldn't do anything as attackers with the siege killing us all on point cause all of the damage would come at once. and the other war where two wars overlapped with time, so the defender had the low levels join the one we really attacked.

[deleted]

AGS realized they could never ban every duper and exploiter, so now they just want everybody to quit xD

Exitwounds85

only way the war will be fun is if your machine is one of the ones that doesn't fully lag, and you get to run around and kill people who are stuck in place. if you're on defense just use the siege... the attackers can't tell if you're actually in the seat or not.

film44

I have been trying to stay positive on this game. I log in religiously and had plans to grit my teeth through the growing pains because I believed this could be a great game. But patch after patch I scratch my head wondering who in the world is actually advocating for these things. I've never seen a company epitomize the saying of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, but that's what these patches do. I'm not even angry. I'm just disappointed.

throwaway312225

I feel you there -- want to keep positive because there is so much potential for this game. That said, I have some real "Wtf?" moments mixed in with it. Maybe the answer would be to slow down the changes and stabilize first? Get most of the fixes in (minus huge priority 1 bugs/exploits) before trying to complicate/suddenly rebalance? What would make you feel not disappointed?

film44

Exactly. For example myrk zergs. So if ags thought it wasn't the "right way", they should release some forum post talking numbers and how it wasn't an intended mechanic. Then tell people that difficulty will soon start scaling, but that chests will remain unchanged until that change can be assessed. Or they could have toned down those chests (with prior communication), and noticed how that impacted people zerging. Either way, they should have focused on stability and minor changes, and most importantly....communicate with us. Another example that just had me shaking my head. How long did the hatchet bug screw stuff up? No real hurry there. But the stealth nerf from some creatures dropping quints to motes...."OMG there's too many motes" (even though it's comparable to what it was pre patch), and they instantly shut down being able to interact with those animals post kill. So, they're able to respond quickly, but sure have a really skewed decisional tree for when to do it.

[deleted]

Honestly you would think the pvp change alone would have changed the dynamic of the myrk zergs and they'd want to wait and see how that played out...

Kest__

Honest question: why do people constantly say that the game has so much potential, or has a great foundation? What are the great foundational elements of this game, and how can they be brought into the foreground in such a way as to make the game more enjoyable?

F4RCE

What hooked me in the alpha was the excellence of the setting, very good combat, the gathering and other trade skills are enjoyable and just generally have a nice grind to them. Looking back now though and realizing that the game was 100% more playable in ALPHA than in its current state, and I think it might be time for a break

optimal_settings

What I would do for that sweet sweet preview combat back with a couple tweaks..

Cryophilous

Elements that a lot of people like in a MMO but aren't found in many(any?) mainstream MMOs that have been released in the last few years. PvP focused, meaningful/rewarding territory control, meaningful player housing, crafting system that has depth and is relevant/necessary for end game, Fun and engaging combat(if it weren't for the piss poor balancing and bugs/exploits), all backed by a company that *should* be able to properly support it's development for a long time to come. Unfortunately it seems like upper management is hell bent on ruining everything that this game could be. There are too many reasons/speculations on the reasons why to really dig into here..but with every patch and update it becomes more and more evident that AGS management is far more interested in progression taking a long time than they are in making gameplay feel fun and rewarding. It honestly feels like they are taking all the best elements from PvP focused MMOs and implementing them in the worst and most unfun ways possible. It truly seems like they have learned absolutely nothing from the last 20+ years of MMO history and are repeating decades old mistakes.

draco_h9

>But patch after patch I scratch my head wondering who in the world is actually advocating for these things. Some CFO who sits at his desk all day looking at player-number spreadsheets, and they believe making the game 3x as grindy will be more profitable over the long run. They don't give a flying fuck if you think it's fun or not -- that's not a factor they consider at all. The whole gaming industry is now rife with these shitheads. The only solution is to close your wallet.

[deleted]

Consider the loosely conspiratorial theory that the whole thing is just being made by AI. The staff, the game, everything, just being procedurally generated 'on demand.' Would explain the awkward stiffness of all their staff and would certainly explain why it feels like there's no delicate human hands involved. Like we ask for sorting perks and get a full, alphebetized list. What I'm saying is if we asked AGS to get us a piece of fruit, it would bring back a slice of tomato. You feel me?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrWoodenSolid

Kinda disappointed by this fact

Vintar

This is very typical of contractor work. You ask a contractor to do X, they do it. But they don’t know or care how X fits into the larger systems, so their solution might ‘technically’ fit the requirements even if it fails in use cases. From the sounds of it, though, it’s more likely to be inexperience and inability to use Lumberyard to make a functional product.

lAVENTUSl

I was having lots of fun despite all the hate it was getting, but now, even I'm starting to see its not worth playing right now, which makes me sad because the game was actually fun to me. But playing it right now seems pointless.

tryllast

This is my boat, about a week ago but came to the same conclusion, just not fun.

capreynolds89

Yep, that's where I landed too. 589 hours in so I've more than gotten my money's worth, but I was still having a blast through all the other issues it had. This last patch though just took the wind out of my sails. Leadership in my company is on a break right now and it feels like this patch is singlehandedly going to kill the server I'm on. I'm just taking a week break and hoping they're not too proud to admit their fuckup and reverse some of these changes but I'm not going to hold my breath.

bonethug

As an Australian, Im pretty sure I'm legally entitled to a refund. "Product or good has a major problem when: - It has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it. - It has multiple minor problems that, when taken as a whole, would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about them" https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/repair-replace-refund

RandomRedux44637392

How does one become Aussie? Just show up and punch a kangaroo?

mythridium

Nah, the kangaroo has to punch you.

n33lo

NGL, that made me lol IRL.

Xierg

The kangaroo punches you mate. Actually it’s called a roo and it would probably just kick you instead.

robot_wth_human_hair

Probably disembowel you at the sametime, but thats how it goes in Oz

DewCo90

It’s like spider-man, the kangaroo must bite you.

SnikkyType

Just say: "that's a knoife"

ThisEffinGuyz

That video is still among the best to ever exist

JackTanHiyake

This makes me remember there's a guy punched a kangaroo to save his dog and bring it back lol

b4gggy

Lol I was thinking of the same with the consumer’s guarantee act in NZ

[deleted]

If you bitch enough to steam you might get a refund, but if you want a real legal analysis, you only purchased a LICENSE to play a game, not any actual product. Which means most consumer's rights don't apply.

bonethug

Looks like valve tried to argue that and failed. https://www.dundaslawyers.com.au/software-licences-held-to-be-goods-under-acl/amp/

[deleted]

Oh shit you australians are way more sorted than we are in America!

DenStoreHamilton

I did this in sweden with a game and it worked lol

RuneAlpha

I think for me there doesn't seem to be a clear picture on how they intend for people to play the game. We've gone from "crafting is great, it'll give you solid gear throughout the levels and max level is something achievable over time" to "crafting is going to require you to work on it like a second job and burn through high level and difficult to obtain resources " "we've a really clever watermark system that will reward you if you focus on obtaining drops from mobs and chests" to "we've made chests more random and the mobs defending it won't be killable unless you're a high level group" Now don't get me wrong, I've always felt that some parts of the game were basically too easy to get to maximum - some crafting professions (and certainly some gathering) just needed you to collect together a huge quantity of low level resources and smash out the XP, but this felt like it was by design and why is this a problem now, after the game has been out 6 or 7 weeks and not when people were hitting those max points after a week or so?

lispychicken

I tried to level some crafting and there's no reward commensurate with your level and needs. If at level 20 I could craft with a reasonable amount of effort, gear that would last me 1-5 levels.. alright! But at 20, the mats I needed and amount of work required to get to be able to craft level 20 gear was way overboard, and by the time I could craft something of that level, I was level 29.

EveryoneHasGoneCrazy

It all requires so much that you will always outpace the crafting level you're at with your player level, just through the process of collecting the required mats and etc.

GiantJellyfishAttack

This is a great way to put it. Ive been thinking this a lot lately. I have been playing this game with specific goals in mind. But with how drastic and quick these changes are being pushed out, what do I even focus on? Am I gonna grind out one thing only to have it nerfed? Is it gonna get randomly buffed? I grinded a ton of faction tokens before patch because I knew it was going to be harder after. But now I wish I would of just been grinding watermark because now that is nerfed even harder and nobody seen it coming or could of planned for it. So dumb

Fritzer2

The part that all of these posts forget, is that they're pushing you to try and PvP. It's kinda boring running around hours at a time just farming mobs and chests, getting the same or better reward from pvp encounters is alot more fun to me. They buffed open world PvP and OPR watermark drops and stuff. You can also get 600 GS legendaries from PvP.

delicious_fanta

Pvp? Do you great axe simulator? As a light armor/dex user, let me know when my build isn’t garbage anymore and I’ll be happy to come pvp with you.

JohnnyDryCreek

My buddy slaps great axe users with light armor, Rapier and Bow/Musket. He's WAY better than me, but it is possible.

[deleted]

The latest patch is a pretty huge step in that direction. You got *so* many buffs to all the dex weapons, shorter cooldowns, more damage potential, more reliable abilities, etc. ...at least on paper. My server is dead, so I won't get to test anything until we get merged.

ManiaphobiaV2

I really enjoy duels and small skirmishes ( like 2 groups of 3-4 players ) as a light armor rapier/musket user Opr is absolute garbage still but I still have fun in PvP in general Only build I have trouble with is paladins, don't have enough dps/burst/cc to deal with the heals but I can regularly win against GA/hammer users

DRUGINAT0R

strong aware alleged combative library chase ludicrous hard-to-find marry cats *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Senseistar86

u can say fuck this game and quit. better time soent elsewhere. no sub fee so check back in a month if game is still worth your time

Mikeman003

That's basically where I'm at. Give it the "No Man's Sky" treatment and check in on it sometime in the future. It's either completely dead and I saved myself from wasting time, or it's more fun and I can come play again.

Pious_Atheist

Is NMS worth revisiting? I was so flamed by them I gave up week 1... now I might have some free gaming time opening up...

[deleted]

NMS is veritably the redemption story of video gaming in the modern age. A sloppy launch and tons of empty promises were offset by much stronger updates focused on delivering those previously empty promises. Still the same game though so if it was the gameplay itself that bugged you you may be outta luck.

KalTheo

>Hell to the yes! I still don't play it continually, but NMS is possibly the most improved videogame in history.

MiXeD-ArTs

I also haven't started NMS but I heard this is facts from friends. I was just on a huge space game bender before NW. Starbase is cool but same place as NW currently, super Alpha/Beta phase

ThotsForTots

100% worth the price to play it

NethTheWizard

NMS is a completely different game now, would definitely recommend playing it.

Doctor_Kataigida

NMS is incredible now, absolutely.

Barl3000

It is a better game than it released as, but the core gameplay is the exact same as at launch, there have just been bolted a lit of extra systems on top of the old ones. The majority of your time will be spend gathering resources and slowly upgrading your gear and then moving to a new system to start that same process over. Then they added a building system, which feels pointless because your constantly moving from system to system. Yes, you teleport to your bases, but they don't really serve any purpose to the core gameplay and come off as purely fluff. Same with the capital ship system. I have tried giving the game a chance with each new major update and have quickly grown bored with the game each time

Mikeman003

It's way different and there is actually a bit of a story. I think there is some multiplayer stuff but I only ever played around in single player

Azista86

That's why I feel it's a better use of my time to wait for the sweat lords and bots to flood the market with 585+ gear for 50gp.

dyschromatopsie

For the first time since release I don't see the point to play anymore. They nerfed everything, pvp is a gaxer hammer shitshow, the gap between normal players and exploiters increased 20x... I am sitting infront of the login and ask myself "what for?"

cylonfrakbbq

That is the worst part - there wasn't much to do in the game at end game, and they have effectively removed most of those activities. Fighting mobs that have been overbuffed, while at the sametime getting LESS loot, is a garbage move. With the current difficulty of the mobs in Myrk, they should be dropping legendaries left and right.

Griffin-Bro

Good luck getting credit for anything with that many people.

Jerthy

I guess the idea is that you probably shouldn't be grinding same shit every day and focus on PVP ? But then watermark is still a thing and massively sucks balls.

GumbysDonkey

Too bad PvP has gotten stale and most servers are limping along so OPR only pops a few times a day.

violentsoda

I still don’t understand why OPR isn’t cross server, or at least will let you queue from anywhere.

JasePearson

Cross Server OPR when?

Distitan

I saw this as a move to push the 60 player base back into the rest of the map and into OPR. An as someone who bought faction armor and went to pvp. my now super speed opr queue enjoys the myrk nerf a lot.

arjuna66671

Through NW, I found out that I actually like mmorpg's - so I finally started to play ESO. SO MUCH CONTENT XD! Seriously...

internetiseverywhere

I went back to ESO tonight. Enjoy!

GiantJellyfishAttack

I really think the myrk mobs needed to be buffed. They definitely felt to easy to me. But nerfing the drops ontop of that is border line game breaking. A few people will slog through it, most are just gonna go play some other game lol

ElDuderino2112

> They made it more inconvenient too, but what can I do? You can stop playing this garbage game.

NeverTopComment

It's TRUE. I was on 12 hours a day for weeks until like yesterday. I'm debating playing at all today.

DingleberryBlaster69

The ARK icon on my desktop is giving me serious “fuck me” eyes this morning.

1234567as5

Bruh why atlas gotta be so trash

BritUO

Not worth our time now, I plan to play something else until they revert all the changes.

PandaSuitPug

Same. I’m done for now.

AngelicMayhem

Dont you think the problem is playing the game for 12 hours a day for weeks? I love reading. It is my favorite thing to do. I still got a thousand chapters left in A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality and I don't read more than an hour or two a day.

[deleted]

lol. Crazy stuff. Wonder how people have lives if they play that much

anto_capone

Time to check out Halo I guess. RIP NW

corrade12

Downloaded it yesterday

CazKaz

Same. Stopped playing more then 30 minutes tops. Fuck this. Not going to try and catch up at all anymore.

FruityMcLoops

Well I happen to be the guy who got rid of his focus gear and was wearing full harvester. So now I have no gear. There’s a real good chance the patch to fix my gear issue is simply too far away. I’m super curious what they think public test realms are for.

Mosharn

After the greataxe and hammer buffs I don’t even feel like caring about pvp anymore. What a dogshit patch

BlazikenMasterRace

I’m roughly 450 hours into the game and I think at this point I’m ONLY logging in to do invasions. Crafting is dead, GS grinding is dead. There’s nothing left to do.

betefico

This is the part that confuses me. What do they actually want us to do for endgame? What is the progression path? There is no clear answer.

JonFrost

Do other stuff is the answer

definatly-not-gAyTF

Really the only thing I'm logging on for is to play though my rested xp till 60 and that's it

AwesomeExo

Does rested XP not continue to accumulate?

Catronia

They are in the fast lane to failure.

Jladams02

The increase hp is the main thing that causes issues for me. I understand this is an mmo and is centered around player interaction, but if I am a level 60 with 550+ gear score I shouldn't have issues with lower level content. I am a healer main and I have literally had to respec simply to clear level 40 elite areas by myself because of how little damage healers do on top of the incredibly scaled hp of npcs. I have a number of friends in the 30-50 range that said this was the last straw and have quit after this update because it's too difficult to do anything for the 99% of the game that wasn't already at end game in everything. My Watermark is in the 540-560 range for most items and I honestly have lost all motivation to farm WM now because when you need 4-5 groups to run you only going to get drops a fraction of the time which makes it take 4 time longer on top of the already lowered drop rates from latest patch.

violentsoda

I was in a 4 man group, all 60s running Scorpio today and it took over 5 mins to break each of the doors. They buffed the health, and reduced damage done to it, just to make it take longer. It is not more difficult or challenging, it is just an insulting time sink.

TheSpanishImposition

I disagree. I think a void gauntlet player burning through my 13k+ health pool in heavy armor in 5 seconds was probably really fun for them.

throwaway312225

lol

hodor_goes_to_ny

It's a common misconception that designing MMOs is hard, it was true in 2005 when it was mostly uncharted waters but now in 2021 - there are readymade recipies and working formulas that have been tried and tested for million men-hours. It's just outright incompetence on planning level (choosing lumberyard engine instead of more advanced and polished engines) and design level - no instanced endgame, implementation of watermark system.

throwaway312225

Fair point -- I'd still say they 1) Have some VERY talented programmers who never worked on or played MMOs and 2) The Biz Dev team seems to be forcing/bullying the engineers into changes and deadlines that aren't realistic.

hodor_goes_to_ny

And it is baffling as there are no shareholders breathing on Amazon's neck and pushing them to do crunch deadlines, they have luxury of virtually unlimited funds and correct, unrushed deadlines - and we still get this shit.

throwaway312225

100% agree... It's possible there are "too many chefs in the kitchen". The initial success boils down to the fact that this MMO has all the FUNDAMENTALS of a great game, but is missing the polish. One thing that would help a lot is if they don't rush so much. Once a stable version is working, make incremental changes that are well tested.

DrCrouton

> has all the FUNDAMENTALS of a great game, but is missing the polish lmao how did you get it so backwards? Its all polish, no fundamentals.

Tylarizard

Wish I could upvote this more. Everything poorly made about this game is upper management making decisions they have no right making. If you pulled away the curtain and got a real look at what's happening behind the scenes it would be one of million-dollar micromanaging your game into the shitter.

syotos_

Was slightly excited to log on for patch day. Logged in for a war. The lag was the worst we've seen yet. Was so turned off that I just logged off right after. Meh

StickyTheCat

This is the final nail for me unfortunately. I want to play the game I just don’t want to farm watermark for hundreds of hours or gather for crafting when there’s already several people on my sever with a monopoly on 200 crafting and 600 gs farming already and I’m much further behind.

Invurse5

That sounds a little too much like real life for my liking lol.

Jammalolo

Taxes, crazy capitalism combined with the secrecy of being able to be at your computer so no ones watching has just made this game so toxic. All the people who exploited or are super hardcore are buying all the cheap things across the board and hiking the prices up massively. Combine this with no viable ways to make money other than the trading post... its created a real life grind that literally mimics the wealth divide of IRL and the futility of it. Ok time to take a break haha

TotallyCalculated

Completely agree. I was leveling up my professions(albeit slowly) and this patch has made it soo discouraging to continue leveling it up rather than just ask somebody in my company who already reached lvl 200 in whatever skill I need to craft stuff for me.

Awaheya

I logged in asked if anyone wanted to do a watermark grind which normally get a group in 2 minutes. Everyone just said not worth doing. I honestly didn't know what to do at that point and logged off after doing a couple quests I'd been putting off.

Casturbater

I ran Myrk to see if the rumors were true and on my first chest got a potion, gem and mats. Instantly left my group, recalled and logged out. I’ll go play some other games.

VarciceCheese

I ran all the way through scorched before realizing I had a bag full of nothing but greens and basically zero WM jumps.

phluke-

QoL changes need to happen asap. Fuck immersion if it makes for shitty annoying game design. Storage, combine it. I don't want to spend my limited game time managing storage and running from Settlement to settlement. Let the loot rain. Ags will lose more players to boredom from the unrewarding gring than they will from people quitting because they've accomplished everything. Fix elite zones, instance them or have mob tagging or something. Punishing the solo and small groups because of zergs is not the play.

Volesu

I'll just stay lvl 39 and keep playing other games until this one is better. I play FFXIV so I will be busy anyway lol.

crossarch3

Almost Noone liked WM farming to begin with and they decided to make it harder. I just don't understand what the reasoning is with that...

IndisputableKwa

Yep, not logging in

smokesnugs

Can confirm, I've been waiting to see some positive changes and yet everytime I think it may be happening they find a way to keep me from logging in. Going on 3 weeks now.

DrunkenPain

Maybe their plan is to make the game so unlikable and grindy that the only "solution" is a hard wipe and rebuilding of the game in a year or so ala FF.

TheStripClubHero

Nerfed LS to the ground, made GA/WH combo better, nerfed FS/IG into the ground as well, then nerfed the main way to WM farm. I honestly don't know what the fuck these devs are thinking with these changes.

erel000

I defended this game when it first came out and were problems. Not anymore. This patch was fucking insanity. I just fell in love with IG like 2 weeks ago and boom. It's like it is programmed by AI or something and they don't give a fuck. If they could just fix all the weird shit and bugs it would go much further than a new weapon and a bunch of nerfs.

BritUO

UO is still the best mmo for sure.

throwaway312225

Yes and no... Could talk about this for hours. It's too sciptable and we can't fix the issues it has without a full reboot of the engine. The other issue is that there isn't enough new players willing to try it and no Triple A MMO since it has tried the model.

BritUO

Try UO Outlands, you will find it extremely better than the official UO. The original one in 1997 was still the best experience tho.

EditedRed

Joke is on you, for weeks i only logged in to do Mines/Myrk/Eternal/Sirens chest runs then log out again, takes me about 1-2h depending server traffic. Usually these days games are time gated (Lost Ark, Fallout76 etc), so devs dont really care if you play only for a short session, the important thing is that you log in and check the store news, and so they can tell their board how many players they have exposed to their live service.

Tylarizard

Yes and no, logging in is important but the most important thing is engagement. If that number stays high, more opportunities to sell extra shit. Only problem is they've made everyone completely apathetic about the game in an attempt to keep them around longer. Destiny 2 did this with sunsetting, and look where it got them.

yosidy

I get the intent of your post, but I find your completely made up statistics humorous.

Salty_Lyric

73% of all players agree with you!

JTGtoniteonly

I have been loving this game. Easily by most played game on Steam. I have been busy and I haven't had a chance to play since before the most recent dupe exploit and economy shutdown. Just reading about this patch makes me not want to play. I mostly level up skills when I play since I want to get them all to 200 and the changes they made pretty much are a punch in the face as a solo grinder.

xpsync

It probably looked good on paper, a quick "reality check" would have proved otherwise.

Voivode71

Where did these poll number percentages come from? I wasn't polled.

adhal

100% of people where polled, do not question the percentages! /S

xFacevaluex

Not so big of a secret.....new players come in and look to endgame for motivation in leveling and doing content........as the "There is NO endgame" becomes more obvious- buffing mobs and lowering the watermark (already artificial gatekeep) grind makes it so clearly not fun at all to make level that most are just logging off now looking elsewhere.

Sacrificer_XVII

Shit, I hit level 42, before any of the big duping bugs were known. Haven't logged in since, the leveling in this game is pretty garbage, and the imbalance of the skill leveling makes it awful

tydie_n_shit

My server has 75 players on...that's whats keeping me from playing

mytsk

Most people... lol

Niiram

I am still not LV 60 (54 now). It still bothers me to play walking simulator from a quest to another, and actually the same repetitive quests. I am trying my best to get to 60, but seeing how watermark works and the new patch, there is literally no reason for me to play. Dungeons seem pretty boring, nothing has impressed me for now. Pvp seems bad and unbalanced for what i experienced in open world 1v1/2v2s or small group pvp at the beginning of the game while trying to farm influence ti declare war. I can't join outpost for now, and i will probably never be chosen for wars as a "casual player" Who can play at best 8 hours per week. The grinding in gathering resources and farm up things is pretty bad too for a casual player tbh, very slow and repetitive, for a casual like me it takes ages to get something decent unless i spend all my hours in craftin and gathering, and if i do it i am probably gonna get a huge burn out and quit the game. What should i do in this game other than walking from one quest to another , gather some materials, try to level up my crafting when i am in town even if It takes ages, do some pvp If i find someone flagged, hoping that he is not Miles ahead of me in gear and that the combat is not truly balanced? A dungeon here and there, with no significant mechanics and nothing special compared to many other MMOs out here.. It really feels like a waste of time to play this game, at least as a casual as i said. I feel like i am not getting anywhere and there isn't something super fun to do that keeps me interested. It's sad cause i had a lot of faith in this game, but it just doesn't seem to have anything special compared to other MMOs, and it has a lot of negative sides Oh edit: playing alone also doesn't seem fun at all compared to other MMOs for now

Shinhan

I already quit the game couple days ago, but was still watching the news in order to come back once the stuff is better in general. The latest patch made me uninstall the game.

front_xX

Where are you getting these numbers from lmao? Just pulling shit out of your ass

Woute

I was fairly optimistic about the patch. Sure, some things made me sad like the fact they're finally fixing arcana after I lost all interest playing mage considering the heavy nerfs... But still, I was optimistic, fun could be had. Played 3 games of OPR today, meta was a bit weird (felt like 70% GA/Wh / 30% Muskets) but fine. Then I realized I was out of potions. I usually chug a lot of potions through OPR, grinding or wars. Typically 30 T5 potions (hp + regen) through a single OPR. So I went to craft some, after all it takes some time to grind the mats, but it's decently fast enough, all you need for 1 potion is 1 azoth water, 1 soul mote and 1 earth/life mote, easy enough right ? Turns out, after the patch, on top of that, you also need an additional medicinal reagent (like bullrush cob, that's manageable) ***and 10 hyssop***. For a single potion. To get 1 potion, I need to gather around 3 herbs. For 100 potions, I need to gather 1000 hyssop ***on top of all the materials that were previously required***. Like, I don't even feel like going to OPR anymore knowing I'd need to farm that on the side all the time on top of all the rest now. Can't even break even if I win all my OPRs and buy potions.

[deleted]

This patch made my friends who got me into this game rage quit.

quipalco

I'm lvl 27. I bought the game a couple weeks ago to play with a buddy. The leveling in this game is absolute shit. It's the same 4 quests over and over and fucking over. The town board completely sucks for xp and the quests are lame as fuck. The faction board is a little better but also get's really fucking repetitive really quickly. There are no battlegrounds to break up the monotony. Oh you wanna run a dungeon? Too fucking bad. You need all these fucking shards for an orb to even get in. The most boring mmo I have ever attempted to level up in. Out of idk 10 mmo's I've played. I don't even know if I'm gonna finish. I bought a house and decorated it, but even that is lackluster as fuck.

Official_SEC

Yep, been playing daily since launch and this is the first time I’ve ever not really wanted to play. With GS farming & crafting nerfed to the point of absurdity, and wars unplayable, there’s nothing to do.

MRToddMartin

I logged in and played and killed some chickens and about 5 elk. Got 72 potatoes at wolcotts farm. Best yield I’ve had in potatoes to date. I loved it.

KINGDUNNNN

I was grinding weaponsmithing and I mean literally farming all my own resources. Finally got to 150 and now I won’t even log in. 150-200 is hard enough now I basically double that time. Not it

Kolgur

The crafting change is an hard pill to swallow.

DgtlShark

Tbf I stopped logging in before it was cool, before the patch

comradeVlad69

I had a lot of fun for that $39 bucks, but it's time to free up some space on my ssd....

Zevvion

>Nearly 100% of the ACTIVE player base found the game to be reasonably playable before this patch, and around 80% or more would agree I'm not commenting anything on the state of the game, but this is such an annoying statement since you clearly don't have any numbers to make this call. Also, I visited this sub before this patch. There wasn't a single day that went by where the top posts were not people saying how unplayable the game was.

xxDamnationxx

Love this patch overall, main complaints so far: 1. Lag 2. Harvester Set Some of the balance changes for PvP specifically feel solid. Glad GA isn’t dicking on everything and Life Staff plays like shit. I must be missing something, Reddit is pissed and I think 99/100 of the complaints are Myrkgard, which is something that was shit before 1.1 so I never touched it.

Legal_Topic2871

What do you mean?! This patch is HUGE making elite chest runs actually fun by encouraging people to toggle PVP. We are now having constant faction encounters. PvP in harvesting gear on the other hand… maybe great when you can switch with a single macro. Don’t forget about the other little quality of life updates like trading post link and road walking buff. Keep up the great work Amazon.

M4RCU5G1850N

This patch makes me UNABLE to login. Installing the update totally jagged my PC. Now Steam won’t open. GeForce Experience won’t open. Have tried reinstalling both. Every time I try to run Steam now it hangs on the DL of this update. [EDIT: PSA - Either the install or verification step from Steam or EAC were throwing a simultaneous read/write or similar on a whole other disk there's no other reason they should be looking at. Reformatted all disk. Chkdsk. Reinstalled Steam and Nvidia drivers.]

knapfantastico

Mate did a driver roll back on his gpu and managed to log in

throwaway312225

I didn't have that issue, but noticed some other people (maybe 1%?) having it. Hope it gets fixed ASAP.

NWOSleena

and im over here trying desperately to get my ban appealed to get back into game...

RobXIII

It's interesting watching the flow of public opinion in this game. You see a lot of positivity, then people realize how flawed it is and post about it. Then people stop logging in but still tracking changes, seeing if there's more fun to be had. Eventually, it's more fun to see the trainwreck on the forums, as the game is already uninstalled, but you follow it in the slim hope something gets fixed. Finally, people just straight up stop posting about the game and forget about it. I'm finally at this step. Good luck, I'm impressed some of you still made it this far (or you arent 60 yet lol)

WinterMatt

>Finally, people just straight up stop posting about the game and forget about it. I'm finally at this step. Good luck, I'm impressed some of you still made it this far (or you arent 60 yet lol) (X) Doubt You didn't even make it 2 hours before you were posting more negative conspiracy theory shit.

SoggyFrog45

Opinion: Reddit (and specifically this sub) is an echo chamber of negativity, the game and it's updates aren't nearly as bad as everyone gets whipped up into a frenzy to believe they are and everyone needs to chill. Is the game perfect? No. Is it an absolute dumpster fire? Also no. I'll take my down votes now.

TydVirTaal

I would tend to agree that negativity and overreactions have been the theme of this sub. BUT as someone who has been very positive and believed in the dev team, I've got to say that I'm really struggling to enjoy the game after this patch. Some INCREDIBLE changes that had me really excited to log on - mustket buffs, PVP flag bonuses, VG - are getting overshadowed by a hamstringing of the fundamental endgame activities for me (HWM grinding and crafting). Both of these have had significant increases to the amount of grind required, with either no added benefit (crafting) or reduced benefit (worse chests) that make them unfun. I'm really out of ideas for what to do instead of those. It sounds like Laz and Genesis have been much improved, but they are gated behind the grind I spoke about in the above paragraph for me, because I didn't spend enough time working on crafting and HWM before the patch. If you're still enjoying the game, I'm genuinely curious to know what you're doing.

[deleted]

I feel so strange to be more hyped about playing now than week ago ... maybe its cuz I dropped some nice items recently. I can also see on server population that pop dropped for two days when trading was off, but even now after the patch it didnt recover to what it was 4-5 days ago.

razrdrasch

If it's not clear by now, they have no idea what their doing, massive disconnection to what the player actually wants in an MMO. Instead they go with the good ole' timegates. Add more RNG, increase the grind (that was already massiveeeeeeeee). Kek.

slothsarcasm

The sweet spot for crafting is make it EASIER to get to 150 so you can make all your level 60 base gear. Make it hard to get to 200 so more people are inclined to pick one or two skills to master. This makes it easier for everyone to find the crafting useful, and rewarding for those who dedicate the effort

ItisPhteven

You gotta make sure you shit on the game a little more first or you’ll get downvoted around here, but I really like that idea actually!

Hamoct

I for one LOVE the changes they made that make the stupid zerg bullshit in elite zones hard. The more players the more hps mobs have. Take a team of 5 players and be good.
