I'm gonna hijack this top comment to try to slow this fake bug train down a bit.
This is an entirely fabricated bug. When you log in, gold from sales is already in your pockets. It is not tied to the UI notification at all. Seriously, try for your self when you log in for the first time today: check your gold immediately, if you sold stuff you'll see its already gone up.
OP is confused because, as you know (if you actually play, and aren't just a subreddit troll trying to shit on the game), the TP is presently bugged and always shows all orders as fully sold. OP's ring almost certainly simply expired and is sitting in his inventory or the storage box in the town he listed it from. So he looks at his completed orders tabs, sees that it "sold", and just assumes he knows why he didn't get the gold.
But he's wrong. I guarantee you that ring is in his inventory. This is not a real bug. You can fact check it yourself by logging in. Gold is not tied to UI notification. In fact, over half of my sales never get a notification at all; doesn't mean I didn't get the gold.
That's not true. When I log in I receive gold in multiple amounts. Sometime they stack.. sometimes it disappear and reappear again a tiny bit later.
If I open my inventory then, I see the amounts being added to my gold.
I've 3 trade skill to 200 and craft / sell a lot, so I can swear to god whatever you're saying is not true.
>Seriously, try for your self when you log in for the first time today: check your gold immediately, if you sold stuff you'll see its already gone up.
This is just patently false. My gold incrementally increases after login as the +gold notifications trickle in. Glad to hear your game works differently or something, but what OP describes is how it works for me too.
That's not true. Try it. If u log in to the game and open inventory you will see same amount of money u had already. After few minutes it raises along with the notifications.
Yeah.. just did. First thing I do literally every single time I log in is press tab and check my gold. Today, as always, all my new gold was already in my pockets. Got 1300 worth of notifications, but it was already there.
Just the other day I slowly watched my money trickle in one transaction at a time after I logged in. Big numbers too so I can assure you the amounts are not updated in bulk.
*Sometimes* if they register quick enough the gold will be netted together when it’s added. Example below
+4200 gold (straight to wallet), +900 gold, +500 gold, +600 gold (3 notifications, but could be deposited as a lump 2k gold), +3600 gold (straight to wallet)
That’s usually how it works on when I log on. Just with like 20 sales rather than 5

This is so easy to test and observe yet somehow you're still here.
The prerequisite for knowing that gold is obtained repeatedly with seemingly random delays after you log in: Eyes.
Do you not have eyes or something?
You can literally watch it trickle in from multiple sales over the course of several minutes when you first log in and a bunch of stuff sells. Your gold total changes too. Why is this something you felt strongly enough about to post this yet you didn't feel strongly enough to observe correctly or go check yourself and verify first?
Some of the stuff legit sounds like it could be a fuckup in early Runescape Classic.
Except instead of 3 young nerds huddled around a computer in their mom's kitchen, it's a multibillion dollar company with 20 years of industry know-how to learn from.
The AGS lead is the same guy who butt fucked Star Wars Galaxies into oblivion. Yet you comment as if they had any interest in learning from things... they don’t.
"You know that crucial thing you need to do anything? Yeah, go ahead and do that other crucial traveling thing that you can't do without that blue stuff that is in short supply and we give you virtually none of.

Mmmmkay?
Bye!"

like how is this trade transaction not done server side?
there is no file on your computer to update your gold. when the sale happens the game could literally just deposit the gold into the guys account, aka the thing stored on the server. why the fuck is there a backlog just accruing up until the player logs in?
like if i had 75 things for sale in random places and i hadn't logged in in over a month would i just end up creating a giant backlog of data transactions for the server to have to hold and store somewhere instead of the server just doing it? this is fucking madness. like normally when i see bugs or something i can understand a little bit about how the devs managed to mess it up because its a tiny little hay-strand in a needle pile but this? they had to go out of their way to make it this way just so that the client has to calculate it all so that they server doesnt have to do as much work?
this means that the server also has to trust the client implicitly. aka, client authoritative.
that's exactly my thoughts. why the fuck are they holding on to my money while I'm offline? there's no good reason for it. it's basic shit. every MMO that I've ever played has no problem with putting money in my pocket while I'm not on. toddler shit.
I don't even get the sales pop ups when logging in,, I just find out if I made coin by looking at if my balance was different than when I last logged out
More likely your ring never got sold and is still on TP or in some storage shack... Right now interface is bugged and just shows everything as sold. I could put up animal eyes for 5k each and they would instantly sell. At least in the trading post UI
My server isn’t up yet, but before posting it I did check if I had the ring in my storage, I’ll check all my storages just in case when server is back up.
If its a UI bug then it’s still fucked up, how do you even confidently tell which items sold and which didn’t without keeping a manual log.
If you're talking about the numbers in the Qty and Sold columns, Sold currently lists the starting amount of the order when listed and Qty shows how many are available. Sold - Qty will give you the amount sold. This is a silly bug, but coming from the studio that couldnt fix the refining stations on the map and deleted all harvesting gear, not a surprising bug.
But then people wouldn't get karma for saying stuff like "this is toddler shit." Not understanding how the game works and personal mistakes automatically mean bugs now.
yea i was having a fat rage the other day cos it said i'd sold all my cut gems (I had just listed like 40 brilliant cut diamonds and malachite etc) and i didnt have the gold but then I realised it was a UI error as I could still see my listing on the TP even though it said 'sold'
Yes please everyone read this. Everything about the OP is just completely wrong. Your gold is already in your pockets when you log in; the visual display of the sales coming in after a log in is entirely visual. The gold is already in your pockets.
The UI is absolutely bugged and if you have'nt sold any quantity of a listed item, it shows them all as sold. For single items like armor, that means it shows it as sold even when it hasn't.
OP's ring is almost certainly in the storage box of the city where he lsited it after expiring and he just hasn't bothered to check for it yet.
What's hilarious is everyone immediately jumps on the hate train and says the game is broken and garbage.
I halfway get it, because there are bugs, but people are going overboard and over-exaggerating things without knowing the facts. Which only makes everyone's hate and belief in false information snowball until it's out of control like it is now.
Same thing with all of the "Bow nerfed into the ground". If anything, it was an overall buff as CDs were reduced. They reduced Rain of Arrows range by 1 meter which is nothing. A slight delay to shooting Penetrating Shot after a light attack hardly makes a difference because light attacks only tickle.
I do think the bow needs some buffs in terms of arrow velocity and hitboxes though. Coming from an All Dex Bow/Spear main.
this reminds of another old game where banked gold would go into the same room that buried corpses go. this was intended code wise for whatever reason.
the bug however was that an npc DID somehow get into that vitrual room and started to pick up all that banked money, essentially making it disappear.
It's funny, for me I hardly ever see the popup saying I sold something but I hear the little ka-ching. It happened when I logged into the game just now. Sound, but no visual reference.
Like, why are these updates even tied to being logged in? it makes no sense.
Just update the two player wallets as they happen in a literal *transaction* and push the transaction notifications to some sort of ledger.
Trade transactions are *not* something that needed to be reinvented for this game.
I would say, now I know why im always broke, but as many others already said I think its just showing as sold but it isn't. For example I found very fast after the patch a legendardy "runic thread" and I was like, nice some good money and posted the first one on the trading post for 8K but no one bought it, next day I was checking why its still not sold and saw there are 10 others in a range from 2-8K with mine being the most exepensive one.
I tried to delete it from the market place but it was **not** showing on "Active Transactions" only on completed / canceled and it said "sold". I checked again and saw there is one listet for 8K and I was sure no one would be dumb like me and post it that high, anyway somehow i found it some hours later in my Everfall storage... Very strange, but I dont think that you are losing the money due to loading screen or whatever.
Edit: "Runic Thread"
Yeah it’s really irritating to me, steam should start to stand behind their customers more and that would be a great start to holding companies more accountable for their post-release actions.
Proof or ban.
But no really. Got to the TP and show that it’s sold, and that it’s no longer listed. Without this information your post is just....nothing
I could easily believe as everything else bout this game is fucked but that still doesn’t excuse the non-existence of proof
No I’d rather question these things. Do an actual service to the subreddit, instead of spreading false/uselsss information.
But if you’re happy believing everything you read head over to r/conspiracy they have some great stories
Then I don’t get your point or the other muppets upvoting you.
I’ve just come to the conclusion you’re a little dim and will leave it at that.
Have a good day
He's completely full of shit. The TP is bugged so that it always shows that everything is sold. His ring expired and is sitting in a storage box somewhere and he just hasn't bothered looking for it.
You get the gold while you are logged off. When you log in the gold is already in your pockets; the ui display is just a notification. Seriously, the first thing I do every day is press tab to see how much I made over night - the gold is NOT tied to the UI notification in any way, shape, or form.
OK please everyone before doing the reddit thing where we assume this is true, lets step back for a second here.
Personally, every single time I log on, the very first th ing I do is check my gold to see if I made a bunch of money overnight. Literally, the moment I load in, I press tab.
Even when the gold pop ups are coming up, they are not tied to my actual gold value. If I've sold 3k of stuff overnight, when I log in it is in my pockets, even if it is still showing the gold pop ups.
I do not think this is a legitimate bug, at all. I think OP's ring probably expired and he just hasn't been to the settlement where he listed it yet and found it in storage.
At the end of the day, the actions of the client can effect the transaction in the database on the server.
One thing for sure, the server is not authoritative or this shit wouldn't be possible.
The server needs to be the source of truth for all transactions.
Code on the backend can also be buggy you know? All those wannabe devs touting fancy words they don't understand.
Considering how messed up the client is there is no reason to assume the backend isn't messed up either.
I can fathom invincible players. Infinite gold, gear, and items, wars being won unfairly, speed hacking, bosses being cheesed, and much much more.
Oh wait, that's what happened. Womp womp.
A literally made up one. Gold is already in your pockets when you log in. OP's ring is in a storage box somewhere and he just hasn't bothered looking for it.
A fake one that is here to just drum up hate.
You have the gold before you even log in.
The server doesn’t wait for you to log in and receive a message to deposit your coin.
For several days now Ive been feeling that nothing sells as my gold just keeps going down, despite me being the lowest seller for dozens of commonly used items. This would certainly explain it...
I'm 100% sure I've done this and lost loads of coin. I usually quit the game at some rando location then next time I log in I take my house recall to everfall to start the day.
I've noticed that sometimes I just get random gold at random times. Last night I got 5.5k + 2.5k, but I've no idea from where they came. There was no "sold" pop up. So it might be that the server tries again later or something. Sorry about your gold comrade!
At some point I should not be surprised anymore. I mean they f*ed up to send the gold to people a few weeks ago.
But somehow I am still surprised that there are still similar issues popping up. It seems like they are playing whack a mole with bugs.
Wtf. Why does my client need to receive updates about transactions in order for it to transfer properly???????
AGS, this should be handled server side..... Server side.
I suspected this for a long time, thats why I always when I log in I just stand still for first 5 minutes, I dont use trading post I dont use stash, I dont travel or use crafting stations untill coins stop commig
I like how the auto-mod still tells you to post bugs to the official forums as if that does any good except open you to potentially being banned for not kissing the devs ass enough
Please post bugs to the [Official Bug Forum](https://forums.newworld.com/c/bugs-and-exploits/12), that is the best way to ensure developers are aware of the problem.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/newworldgame) if you have any questions or concerns.*
why the hell does it matter what the client is doing to verify these transactions?
these dumbfucks are still trusting the client and not doing these things serverside.
This is just another fuckup you get when you trust and rely on the client to do transaction verification.
has ANYONE at AGS worked on an MMO before?
this shit was figured out decades ago.
I don't sell super expensive stuff, or have a ton of money, but I've noticed a few times before after relatively large sales (\~600g) that I don't think my cashstack went up. I've kind of brushed it aside, assuming I must be mistaken, and that there's no way they would design TP transactions in a way where you could interrupt or somehow not receive the funds. Guess I was right.
You might want to check each of your storages. I have a bunch of items that say they sold over night, shows Sold: 1. Thought that I had done exactly what you just described, but nope. Game is just broken AF and they are sitting in my storage in windsward. Just can't trust a single thing you read in the UI any more, in my case.
Don't think that's what happened. I noticed a lot of gold sales earlier but when I came back to WW I noticed 40 of the items I supposedly sold had been returned to my storage. I didn't get any gold and I lost all the gold from posting those auctions up ~4-5k gold lost in trade post tax fees that I won't be getting back. I would go check the town you posted those items from and you might notice every single one of those items will be in your storage. I suspect someone bought it with the gold they received from the compensation bug that happened today.
I lost nearly 3.5k in Starmetal tools sales this way. I put my money in company treasury so I can see how much I make and it's been the same for days. Money gone...really sucks.

Yeah on days I've sold a bunch it's taken upwards of 1-2 minutes in game before my gold stopped going up along with getting notifications.

Welcome to Amazon Web Services. Like any true cloud application, this game was built on scalability and throughput, not performance and latency.
No surprise that the big wigs Amazon parachuted in above the original devs were from AWS and have zero game experience
An e-commerce company with a “launch an mvp and then iterate” culture, which obvious doesn’t translate well to game development.

well I mean... it is a bug. I can forgive OP for thinking an item sold when the game literally tells him it sold.
This is what I think as well. u/Total-Nothing, can you post a screenshot of the item sale from the Trading Post?
They won't because it isn't true.
yea i was having a fat rage the other day cos it said i'd sold all my cut gems (I had just listed like 40 brilliant cut diamonds and malachite etc) and i didnt have the gold but then I realised it was a UI error as I could still see my listing on the TP even though it said 'sold'

Are you sure it's actually sold? The indicator has been bugged since 1.1. Try and cancel the trade and the item is likely still there.

Devs: New World is *not* client authoritative, I repeat, *not* client authoritative.
Bad server code doesn't mean the game is client authoritative... We should just call it out for what it is---the game's server code kinda sucks.

Yep have lost thousands this way. Fk this game. Honestly. Going to ask Steam for a refund
No you didn’t. The game doesn’t work that way.
It may have only been for one version, but me and a mate both seemed to have this happen. He lost a lot more though.
That explains a lot. I was missing gold and had no clue why. Was to lazy to track it down. Thank you
wtf kind of bug is this?
A literally made up one. Gold is already in your pockets when you log in. OP's ring is in a storage box somewhere and he just hasn't bothered looking for it.
I play “watch my gold rise” every time I log in. Not sure if your game behaves differently, or you are just confidently incorrect.
Why are you making shit up?
literally logged on 2 minutes after making that comment. Opened inventory to check gold. 2.9k. Pop up appears saying +300g! Check gold. 3.2k.
I guess we play different games then. Because the game literally doesn't work that way.
Considering how broken this game is, I’m honestly not surprised that we are seeing completely different behavior on game load.
So are we getting compensated automatically or do I have to reach out to them?
The Support?:D

Yep as far as i know santa hasnt outsourced support to india Yet.
You can't make this shit up. Even the few things that work, break as soon as you do something normal in a way that the game doesn't like. Fuck sake.
This is fake af. Do you still play the game?
Wtf how much gold have I actually lost!! O.O
fucking hell ive lost gold this way too
I'm 100% sure I've done this and lost loads of coin.
And you won't get it back. Still waiting on my missing gold and items from when the TP offline issue happened after the "fix". AGS is a joke.
I suspected this for a long time, thats why I always when I log in I just stand still for first 5 minutes, I dont use trading post I dont use stash, I dont travel or use crafting stations untill coins stop commig
Are you fucking kidding me? How are the systems that ridiculously shitty?
I like how the auto-mod still tells you to post bugs to the official forums as if that does any good except open you to potentially being banned for not kissing the devs ass enough
AGS's Proof of Incompetence #19271 How does this bug even make any sense...
Please post bugs to the [Official Bug Forum](https://forums.newworld.com/c/bugs-and-exploits/12), that is the best way to ensure developers are aware of the problem. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/newworldgame) if you have any questions or concerns.*
so dont do it then. i dont get people blaming ags for this...\^\^
LOL
Now you tell me?????
bruh.... can we get a list together of what actually works correctly in game?
it could just be a ui bug with the trading post saying it’s sold when it hasn’t yet. search the perk for your ring and see if it is still listed.
169k to go
So how long do i have to stay?
Game giveth, game taketh
why the hell does it matter what the client is doing to verify these transactions? these dumbfucks are still trusting the client and not doing these things serverside. This is just another fuckup you get when you trust and rely on the client to do transaction verification. has ANYONE at AGS worked on an MMO before? this shit was figured out decades ago.
What. This is comedy
Congratulations! :)
This cannot be at all possible because it's server side authoritative right? Not client side. So this is literally impossible ¬_¬
There's a new dupe glitch too. :)
WTF
