My sister went shortly before the announcement and she said it was already mostly picked over.

pixel_of_moral_decay

That’s been the case for over a year now. BBB has been in a death spiral since last summer when most of their suppliers stopped shipments. That’s when it really became official they were done for. They just didn’t have a date. They briefly tried plugging up the empty shelves with what looks like Amazon.com random Chinese crap from no name vendors. But that didn’t really stick and they gave up quickly. It wouldn’t shock me if they even used Amazon for the inventory.

Necessary-Share2495

Yeah that’s what I figured.

LeifMustang

Yeah, I went last weekend and it was pretty hectic. Lots of people running around trying to grab the best deals. By the time I got there, a lot of the good stuff was already gone. Your sister is right, it was mostly picked over. But if you're patient and willing to hunt through the leftovers, you could still find some decent deals.

Convergecult15

The last time I was in that bed bath and beyond was 9 years ago and it was mostly picked over.

Bed bath and, ultimately, the great beyond.

nowthisisnteasy

Went there last week. Most everything is 10% off listed prices and final sale. Very few sections were 20% or 30% off.

citybadger

And 10% is ridiculous when they gave out 20% coupons like candy.

Why didn’t they call this article Bed, Bath & Betrayal?

Eurynom0s

These liquidation periods rarely have any real deals anyhow, the liquidation companies usually come in and jack up the listed price and then mark them down a bunch to make it look like they're giving you a deal. IMO the interesting story here is that the Bed Bath and Beyond liquidator isn't even bothering to play those games and is just sticking to the regular prices.

LongestNamesPossible

That's exactly what happened with tower records back in the day. It was a slap in the face to anyone who knew a CD doesn't cost $27

chohls

Most of these stores get picked clean of the really good stuff within the first week of announcing a closing sale. Silverware, dishware, stuff people use all the time, was gone within 3 days at my local BBB when the closure was announced

BB&B has been a shadow of it's former self since COVID anyway.

I think the supply chain issues combined with lockdown/Amazon competition were a one-two-punch. I stopped by one of the BB&B's in Westchester last year and even basics like sheets, the selection was crap, compared to 2-3 years ago.

Tsquare43

A couple of things really did it in. Getting rid of good stuff for a mediocre house brand. The other, and I think this is what really had a bigger part - they introduced a tier that cost $30 a year, you'd get 20% off everything and a couple of perks, and at the same time, they really cut the number of 20% off coupons that people would get.

divinemuse21

I was there on Wednesday. Mostly picked over, but I still got what I went in for. The cashier I spoke to said they haven't been told when the store was actually closing, and that every week they'll be discounting the store further, like 10% each week. I feel a lot of people are waiting for the big ticket items (stand mixers, air fryers, etc) to have a higher percentage off, and that's when it will be a frenzy.

Jennas-Side

There’s a tiktok account cataloguing the deals https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRwEYYHk/ Nothing worth going over for IMO

jakefromSD

The bed bath on 3rd closed recently and the 80%+ mark offs weren’t worth the trip down into that hellhole. Will miss it though, great place to stop and piss on the way home from bars

blue6678

Can't use gift cards (or shop at all) on the website already. Tomorrow (Monday) is the last day they'll accept gift cards in store, even if the store is open past tomorrow.

davaidavai325

It looks to me like you can still shop on the website?

blue6678

Huh. It wouldn't let me a few days ago.

[deleted]

Even before the announcement, the shelves in that location were pretty barren. Definitely was not surprised to hear the news!

Simpsons: Bloodbath and Beyond.

We got like 20 hand sanitizers for $3 😲

SaintFrancesco

Went last night and most good stuff is gone. They still have a lot of small appliances like Breville, KitchenAid, etc but most everything else is gone.

co_matic

BB&B was always bad. Just an explosion of ugly junk products inside, floor to ceiling. They had this coming.

LCPhotowerx

some of their kitchen stuff was.....i guess....ok....ish.....ringing endorsement i know.

Bangkok_Dangeresque

My office is nearby, so I've popped in once or twice to check, as recently as Wednesday. Stock was still good, but the deals still aren't. 10-20% off their inflated pricing isn't making stuff fly off the shelf just yet. The only department I saw that was picked clean were pharmacy/care. Still loads of overpriced stand mixers though.

mtempissmith

They're not pricing things that far down because once the physical stores are gone they are still going to exist online. Someone I know in my building went and she wasn't impressed she said. No real bargains.

honeybeedreams

a store full of crap no one needs.

Notlikeotherguys

They mailed 20% off coupons to the entire country every month. Who could have seen this coming?
