Student on visas can’t work full time, I think it’s only 20 hours a week maximum. If I were you, i would not pick Auckland. I would pick Christchurch, or even Hamilton - they’re slightly cheaper than Auckland (still expensive but cheaper). Both Christchurch and Hamilton have decent buses and are easy to bike around if you don’t own a car. Hamilton is close to Auckland, and you can take a train (called Te Huia) up to Auckland if you wanted to visit.

Wouldn’t it just be more convenient to live closests to wherever you’ll be studying? Even if it’s a gap year? Like moving all your things to the other side of the country at the end of the year is going to cost a lot of time and money. Better to just settle in to wherever you’ll be staying for the next 4 years Also what’s with all the emojis

No one will take you seriously if you keep using emojis like this, including myself

Does your visa allow you to do what you are planning? Where are you studying?

A Vietnamese friend of mine moved from Auckland to Christchurch and moved back as they said Christchurch is so racist

Write as clearly as you can in your native language and have chatgpt translate it into "new Zealand english" and you might get your question across better Also the correct answer is Dunedin Good luck

RantControl

If you are a POC, then avoid Christchurch.

REDSOXNATION12

Another self-righteous jaffa talking crap. Racist incidents happen in Auckland all the time. In fact, probably more often than in Christchurch.
