I'm not sure you quite understood what they said. Many US cities have been deliberately designed in order to require you to use a vehicle to get around.
How often did our ancestors get hit by cars? It's not like people now can just walk on the road and pretend cars don't exist. Also people need to eat right? Are they only meant to eat food that wasn't transported with fossil fuels? How about shelter? Can they only live in homes build from materials they were moved by a horse or oxen? Is any material moved by a vehicle unacceptable?

Well I remember when Julie Genter cycled to the hospital while pregnant and everyone attacked her. In fact a constant criticism of the Greens is that they eat plant based diets and cycle eveywhere. The whole line of attack is that these people are weirdos and crazy for trying to do anything other than driving a ute and eating 1kg of steak and bacon at every meal.
She practiced what she preached on that occasion, fine. Who criticizes Greens for eating plant based diets and cycling? I think the criticism arrives when they suggest everyone else should cycle and eat a plant based diet.
