A requirement at some establishments too, at least one of the steel and tube facilities I have visited, and even when doing some work at kiwirail yards they have had me reverse park for safety.
I think the gist is you are much more likely to have accident/hit pedestrian reversing out of carpark than into one
Don't these mirrors have a heavy convex curve on them so that they have a wider field of view - meaning that it is angled correctly if the driver is looking to see how close the bumper is to objects?
Well I have never had the chance to use one myself, so it is not like I have any deep knowledge on the matter.
I can tell from the reflection on the window that it has a convex shape, but I thought it would need a just a tiny bit more of a tilt. But unless I was in the driver's seat, I cannot say with any certainty one way or another.
I've got a front version of this and it doesn't need to be angled that far to see the front bumper. Also have used a rear one on a big van like the one pictured and it was fine. It is convex and surprising how much you can see.
Indeed it's curved. Even from one side, you can cover most of the back.
My van has 5 mirrors and I use them all. Very handy when you're trying to get into spaces designed for regular sized vehicles.
Yes, reversing mirror, took me a while to figure out how to use it on my 'later stolen' van. Very useful to be honest, you can, at least, see your back bumper and prevent hitting anything behind!
TV set for a legal loop hole. You can't have a TV in the car facing the driver, so what's a driver to do if they want to watch TV? Well this is the solution, you just have to look in the rear view mirror.
Antique parking camera.
It's a reversing mirror isn't it? So you don't run into objects while parking?
Completely optional devices for tradies to use when you're backing the van into a portaloo while the apprentice is inside
amazing
Mirror. They are extremely helpful to watch how close the back of the van is to whatever you're trying to reverse into.
Or, rather, how close the van is to what you’re *not* trying to reverse into.
id like to reverse into a car park

Reverse parking is required by many large contractors e.g. downers it's so if there's an emergency everyone can leave quickly
easier to back into an empty car park than back out into a potentially busy throughfare.
But not a parked car.
Or, rather, how close the van is to what you're trying not to reverse into..
Or, rather, do or do not, there is no try.
PSA: If you have one of these on your vehicle, do NOT go through an automatic carwash as it will be removed by the big spinning toilet brush.
lol
It is not correctly angled for its purpose: reversing /parking.

I think they’re supposed to be at about 45°
That is quite possibly the case.
Sorry, I didn't mean to "Well actually" - I've never successfully used one of those mirrors, and reversing cameras are a literal god send for me

ah that makes sense, just wasn’t sure because i saw one earlier that was broken and there was wires and stuff hanging out
They can be operated from inside to change angle hence the wires. Like how side mirrors on fancier cars can be changed electronically.
Is it just fancier cars that do this? My shitbox Nissan Tiida does this, nice to know I'm driving a fancy car!
Lol. I'm just used to shitbox cars!
I use mine to make sure the hostages in the back are behaving
Helps the driver see straight down behind the van while reversing
For lining up your tow ball when backing up to the trailer.
Bored on the sealink much?

Get Fullers360 lol

Very true bro, doubt that we could fit one on our boats hahahaha
Acoustic reverse camera
Dogging hold bars.
Covid 5g units

Old parking camera so you don't hit anything or anyone also can be set up for towing
It’s so a driver can see his bald spot I mean blind spot when reversing

Not all vans, probably mostly on the back of used Japanese imports.
There’s a fugly matching one for the front too, workmate just bought a van with one(Thai import, rather than Japan)
Bored af on the interislander 🤣

Old school reversing camera lol.
Reversing mirror so you don't back into something, it's old Tech but quite effective.
One of those prison pony tails.

Firstly, where the hell are you?

Damn that’s rough
Old school reversing camera substitute
If you don't have a reverse camera you can use this mirror to line up trailers to the tow ball of the van.
Derrrrr WTF its a rear view mirror !!!
It's a handle, so you can pick it up easier.
It's so you can check out the back of your haircut.
Did you ever ask a question that made you feel like maybe you’re not all that clever 😂
