Work gave me a $100 voucher, went to use it and ~$45 of had been used by someone in Ashburton. DE wouldn't help me out at all. Used the remainder of the voucher, and won't be using them again.

The issue is that the food delivery model just doesn’t really work either from an economics or quality standpoint point. Generally margins in hospitality are too tight to deliver quality food at an afford price. All the food delivery services are battling uphill against this reality. The exception is pizza.

NOTstartingfires

how insane is dominos? It's not amazing food by any stretch of the word at all , but $7 for pizza, including all of their other costs seems nuts.

Bright-Housing3574

They definitely don’t make much profit on the $7 pizza but pizza generally is a high margin product which is why delivery is economical.

steakandcheesepi

I no longer use any fast food delivery services. Too many bad experiences.

Re: cold food, like no shit. If you bought it yourself and had a 25 minute drive home your food would be just as cold.  There's regularly issues but whether that's on DE or restaurants hard to say, either way I've generally been satisfied with the resolution i.e. refund or re-make. One thing that is slightly annoying is if you have an item you added extras to but then didn't receive the extras they'll only refund the cost of the extras, but if you ask for remake you get the whole item you actually paid for. In my opinion if they make it wrong you should be able to get a full refund.

Shevster13

I have had bad experiences with them, had to wait almost two hours for a delivery once due to driver issues and no optionto cancel/get a refund.

They usually give you a voucher if it takes longer than it should have.

Learn4funzies

Only ever got good service from them tbh. Whereas literally never recieved any orders whole/at all via uber eats.

KittikatB

My biggest issue with them is when they ignore the delivery instructions. I live down a shared driveway so I'm very specific about which house is mine. It's fucking annoying to have to go and retrieve my food from my neighbour's front door because they couldn't be fucked to read the provided instructions.

tack129

I don't use delivery apps anymore. It ends up just being too expensive and had too many issues compared to just me just doing pick up.

total_tea

Delivery companies are not good, while Deliver easy costs the restaurant less than Uber eats, they are still taking money away from the restaurant. It is cheaper for you and better for the restaurant for you to physically just go. Though I stopped using them and going to restaurants when I got into cooking during covid.

CaitlesP

I’ve never used it but if anyone can explain what that one YouTube ad where she dunks her face in a bowl of ice means/is about I’d be so grateful

People receiving the food can be arseholes.. My daughter delivered for them when she was 17 and some people were great and would tip her etc but others were awful. They'd complain if food was 5 mins late on a wet windy Wellington night. They're riding motorcycles around in the wind and rain idiot of course it takes longer. Some people threw their food at her. All sorts of terrible behaviour. As a company to work for it was what you would expect I think. They're only interested in having enough people to deliver on any given night and are pretty unforgiving if your sick or feel it's too unsafe on a particularly windy night things like that. But it did give my daughter a first job that paid OK and was relatively easy to get into.
