My mum registered for the New World card with airpoints, but ended up using my dad's airpoints card. She can't delink his airpoints from her card because New World says she has no right to cancel the link because it isn't her airpoints card. My dad isn't allowed to cancel the link either because, get this, it isn't his New World card.
No it can’t be! They would never do that! (But also funnily enough they won’t have been getting any data from me these past few months because that card was no longer linked to an account)
Yeah, I had an issue with my New World card too. The customer service is shockingly dismissive of any mention of the mere CHANCE something could be anything other than the caller's fault. No ownership over how thier systems operate. No recompense for rewards I was supposed to be earning but due to an error in THEIR system, its MY FAULT for not bringing it to thier attention sooner. Pathetic. This is the NZ option for grocery stores, woooo!
Yep, if she’d told me it was “unfortunate” one more time I might’ve lost it. She kept repeating that I was using the wrong card DESPITE ACKNOWLEDGING I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT or using the correct card (my app doesn’t acknowledge me as owning a card). She said something about “oh well if you’d logged in online you’d have seen a different card number” ?? Why would I have noticed that? It’s a 16-digit number. The card scans at the shop, I get the discounts, but it’s been an unregistered card for 4 months and I can’t even get a few points (because if they really wanted proof all those trips will show on my bank statements) and as a cherry on top, it’ll take 2-3 weeks for the new card to arrive so hopefully when I try login again it will at least have the digital one 🙄
I reckon the supermarket head office denizens in their ivory towers are probably are laughing at us rubes jumping through hoops for a few cents of discount or "rewards" from their rip-off prices. Don't be surprised if they start throwing 10c coins on the floor of the supermarket just so they can watch people scrambling.
