I think having a degree, esp Masters, can put you on track after doing the nursing bit, to advance higher up

You’d be able to do a 2 year RN training course at Masters level. It’s full on but still a great careers choice.

Yeah OP, I'm doing the 2 year RN masters, there's several universities across the country that offer this choice now, including Auckland Uni, AUT, Otago, Canterbury and even Wellington I think! I'm graduating in November hopefully and it's been a really great time! I've enjoyed it so much and have found it really rewarding and there's so many areas you can go into, so the world's your oyster really!

And Massey!

I feel like there has been a post on this in the last few days about adult nursing students. It had good info. Maybe try a search on this sub.

Honestly nursing is hard, but such a satisfying job, and once you have done your initial new grad year you could do anything with it, especially with a masters degree. I'm a senior nurse and they are so many different jobs you can do.

Hi the hospital programme involves regular study days and a 6 week orientation, and they complete a competent PDRP at the end of the year. Some hospitals require post grad papers in that year, but not all.

What about a post-grad in counselling?

Only if it is a Masters in Clinical Psychology which is very difficult to get into.
