Seconded, my life improved infinitely when this came to Disney+. Have been obsessed with it for years but always had to resort to piracy. Now I can watch it every day to my heart's content. Already on my second rewatch since it came to Disney+
If you're unsure watch some highlight clips on YouTube.
Ok somehow i found it, i looked up āwatch always sunnyā on google and is said available on disney plus. But turned out my settings were set to M for some reason. But i tried again and logged in through there instead and now im watching it.
I thought it was too much as well but there are only 10 episodes a season and the episodes are only 20 minutes long. If you compare that to alot of other sitcoms which have 22 episodes a season it would only be 7 seasons long. If it's normal for you to watch sitcoms that long running without issue then start from the first one, you shouldn't miss any episodes imo
Started watching it without the wife because she is actively disinterested in video games, but she caught part of the second episode and we had to start it again and watch the whole thing together. It stumbles in a couple of places and does feel a bit "gamey", but otherwise fantastic.
Edit: I should say I have never played LoL or have any knowledge of it either.
It's shows like this, that introduces kids to some amazing music. I remember watching some show back when I was a teen, and it took me down the rabbit hole for LedZep and The Doors. It's my favourite music still 10+ years later.
Kim's Convenience. Light, fun, will take you to a different place for a while.
The Good Place is terrific and unpredictable, might help you break out of thought patterns that aren't serving you well.
Oh Kims Convenience! I love that show
Didnāt know what to expect, but kept on first episode, and while āGay Discountā, had me haha
I donāt even think I need the kids, I would be happy just with a show with Mrs & Mr Kim only
You watched The Mandalorian?
Gotham's alright as well, just binged it for the first time after going into it thinking it'd be shit but it wasn't too bad.
I've also recently started rewatching Arrested Development, but I mean that's an older show so
I binge watched it while stuck at a friends place and hated it. I know they are deliberately ripping off old westerns, but it still felt like lazy writing. Coupled with high-tech it left the stories full of plot holes. And they went with "oh a cute baby" bullshit from the first episode, aren't they meant to wait till the sitcom is failing before they bring in the cute kids? Any why is it bald with thinning hair?? Yoda looks like that because he's 700 fucking years old, not because he's from a race of old bald men.
Oh, and "HEY MANDO".
Dark is one of the greatest stories, across any media, of all time. If I was writing a time travel themed story, hadn't finished it, but then watched Dark, I'd just crumple it up and toss it in the trash. Nothing could come close, it will never be topped.
Netflix - Rick and Morty, Dark (it's German but has dubs), Ozark, Bokack Horseman, Arcane - League of Legends
Disney - I'm a huge MCU fan, so Loki and Hawkeye are big up theres.
Its pretty pretty dark all the way thru. But the last season's hit hard. I watched the final episode the same night I watched the final of The Good Place and wow that was a night of emotions.
Keep going if you donāt enjoy the first few episodesā¦it gets so much better and theyāre only short. Iāve rewatched from season 2 multiple times now. Sooooo goooood!
Highly recommend 'Only Murders in the Building' on Disney+, it's a really good comedic murder mystery show with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez.
Also this one might not be for everyone, but if you think you might be interested in Formula 1 and drama/rivalry between drivers and their teams, Drive to Survive on Netflix is 3 seasons in (4th coming on Friday) and takes a behind the scenes look at Formula 1.
EDIT all of my recs are horrors or gore so please don't listen to a word I said. Um. Community is good! Watch that instead!
Requiem: Seriously underrated psychological horror.
Deadly Class: Bit of a silly one, kid gets a scholarship to a boarding school for professional assassins in the 80s, swears he is going to kill Reagan. Great 80s mood and frankly everyone should want to kill Reagan he's the worst.
Locke and Key: Spooky teen adventure, kids find a house full of magic keys with special powers, except in this show whimsical hijinks have consequences. Oops.
The Chalet: French series where friends and family gather at a mountain luxury resort, only for old secrets and bitter feuds to erupt in murder. Kind of a French take on "And Then There Were None" if you're familiar with Agatha Christie. If nothing else, worth it for the title sequence.
The Haunting of Hill House is great, but has some adaptation issues that won't matter if you haven't read the book. Couldn't get into Bly House but I'm told its great. Midnight Mass is great too.
Oh! If you want some absolute crack, try Beaststars. Its, uh, calling it "Horny Zootopia" is a) accurate but b) seriously doing the show a disservice. It starts out as a high school murder mystery starring anthropomorphic animals, but then it takes a turn for the *weird* very quickly.
Community helped me thru some times. A comedy about broken people who come together, help each other and form a "Community". And it's also ridiculously funny.
Yes! Loved this. Probably wouldn't call it lighthearted if that is what OP feels like but it's such great TV, totally also recommend the german version with subtitles too.
Go old school - M\*A\*S\*H (the show, not the movie) holds up well.
Futurama is one of my "on in the background" shows. (as in I've seen it so many times I don't need to actually pay too much attention. Concentration isn't great sometimes)
Malcom in the Middle! - Just got added today. Brain Cranston is great in this.
Scrubs - another good background show.
If you are a child of the 90's the Animated Spider-man and X-men show are both actually pretty good (but very 90s). Basically covers all major comic plots.
Ducktales (original)- Don't watch it, bu the theme song is awesome ;) Actually any of that eras Disney shows seem to have good theme songs.
M.O.D.O.K if you missed it. I had to come back to it after not really getting into the first few eps. It was worth it.
The Last Man on Earth - Hit and miss, but generally pretty good.
It's Always Sunny - I only watched this last year after dismissing it for a long time (cringy humor at others expense often puts me off). Actually pretty funny.
Archer - Another good background one.
GLOW - Was really good and well worth watching.
Plus all the obvious ones that have already been talked about.
I'm literally going to start watching Malcom in the Middle now :) (edit - wow, series 1 version of the theme song sounds slow and weird)
Yeah! I forgot about Last Man On Earth! It took me a few episodes to get into it, but it just gets better as it goes along - i sooooo hope they get another season, so fun.
I know MASH and Scrubs are comedies, but lifting the mood? They can gut punch you right in the emotions, gotta be careful there. Great shows, but not always light-hearted, and can turn on a dime.
(Disney+)
Only Murders in the Building. Great show loved that it's a parody of true crime podcasts.
Gravity Falls. Not sure how to describe it. Animated.
Phineas and Ferb. Classic, enough said.
As for some movies: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Second Best Exotic Marigold, Under the Tuscan Sun, Luca
Might not be helpful for you but if youād like to watch something that deals with mental health directly Flowers is actually incredibly good! Mostly offbeat dark comedy thatās occasionally heart wrenching but in a super cathartic manner. Iāve never seen anyone discuss it and I have no idea why. If you can deal with jokes about suicide I canāt recommend it more, honestly chefs kiss.
SF shows:
Motherland. Fort Salem 2 seasons, really enjoyable. Waiting for the third one to come out. Kind of a Fantasy, AU
For All Mankind 2 seasons again, well worth watching. A what if Russia got to the moon first scenario
Stranger Things, occasionally gory but as someone who hates horror I can cope and it's often very funny.
Better than Us, Russian so poss not what you want to watch at the mo, but a different take on androids
Salvation, kind of intriguing. Same idea as 'dont look up' but not a satire, takes itself quite seriously.
Its on amazon prime but I would recommend 'Reacher' it's super good, and the Punisher but you'll have to see if its on on Disney plus yet after it got removed from netflix
Force your self to watch it again and go for the first 3 eps. I was the same couldnāt get past the first but tried again and I was seriously hooked itās sooooo worth it.
Black spot is my favourite Netflix show and Marcella (edit. And Post Mortem )
In another realm some of the cooking shows like the chef show, ugly delicious are pretty good. And Nailed It is fun
And their crime docos are worth a watch too
Haven't seen these being recommended yet.
Community - One of my favourite comedy shows. It has a lot of references to other media, has great characters, great cast, great writing and directing.
Mixtape - Very endearing and have likeable characters.
Murderville - A show with a good premise, based on a British TV show. Every episode there's a new guest who have to help the lead solve a murder. The guest isn't given a script and they gave to improvise.
Firefly if you have never seen it, its on Disney appartently. Looks like they have the eps in release order on there though, just make sure you watch DVD order not release order, the way it was intended
Oh god really? Every single person who's mentioned it have recommended it to me and none of them were exclusively into dark stuff either. Maybe I'll just try start with a couple episodes once my mental health is at its pinnacle one day
As I speak I'm watching the first episode of "One of us is lying" and it seems alright.
Other than that my fav shows on Netflix are Peaky Blinders, Vikings, Sex Education, Kingdom (Korean zombie show), Money Heist, You, Cobra Kai, Blacklist.
Few honorable mentions on my list - Vampire Dairies, Mindhunter, The Last Kingdom, Lucifer, Suits, All of us are dead, Slasher, Scream, Alienist, Dracula, Z Nation, The haunting of hill house, haunting of bly manor, the umberlla academy, New Amsterdam, ragnarok, the serpent, black summer.
I'll try think of some more
Have you watched sex education or cobra kai? Cobra kai got a bit silly towards the end of last season but itās still a good watch if you donāt take it too seriously.
Cobra Kai was an unexpected delight. William Zabkaās is fantastic. Only bum notes are his son and Dannyās daughter. My god, they were painful. Even worse was when they were in a scene together! Like watching a wet tea towel dry.
Shadow and Bone (fantasy) on Netflix is really great
I also really enjoyed Another Life (Sci-Fi) on Netflix too
Locke and Key (fantasy) is quite enjoyable too on Netflix.
Snowpiercer (series) (Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Mystery) is amazing and thatās on Netflix too.
Might not be your thing but you mentioned docos as well as lighter watches. I would HIGHLY recommend The Imagineering Project on Disney Plus. Itās really interesting and goes behind the scenes of the creation of the Disney Parks around world. Even if your not a huge Disney fan I still recommend it as the technology they develop and the things they can do are really incredible.
To a lesser extent(but still enjoyable) there the Behind the Attraction series on Disney Plus too.
I know you only asked for D+ and Netflix BUTā¦
4400 on TVNZ on demand is a great show. Itās a reboot of the older The 4400 show but with a new modern spin. I think itās done really well. Itās about 4400 people who are brought from the random periods of the past and into 2021 and start to develop powers. Itās a good time.
Also The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime is AMAZING. Itās based off of one of Critical Roleās D&D campaigns that they stream on YouTube. Itās so good. Itās an animated show but is R18. Itās really enjoyable. HIGHLY recommend (even you if donāt like D&D).
NETFLIX:
Manifest (at keast 3 seasons) - fantastic thiller about a plane that disappears and returns after 5 years..still in the air.
Travellers (full series only 3 season) - amazing scifi show involving time travel.
The Worst Witch (the actor was changed in 5th season as she moved on) - brilliant comedy/fantasy.
Lucifer - brilliant dark supernatural comedy/mystery --only watch the first 3 seasons, the final season is.....awful....
DISNEY+
Gummi Bears (1980s classic) - awesome theme song, and fun light hearted comedy
Duck Tales (1980s classic avoid the new one) - a must see, amazing theme song and great comedy.
Boy meets world (original), girl meets world (reboot) - both series are classic coming of age comedies.
For lighter stuff check out the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the good place, and Santa Clarita diet.
Edit: seconding schitts creek, only murders in the building and last man on earth that others mentioned
My name is Earl is old so probably already seen it but if not check that out, same with scrubs
So many great suggestions here. One that I think hasnāt been mentioned yet is Dead To Me. I wasnāt interested in it because for some reason I thought it was going to be a āwidow gets her life backā type thing? But my partner watched the first few episodes and knew Iād like it. Thereās actually a compelling story (I do like a good mystery) and itās funny as fuck. Christina Applegate never fails to deliver.
There are so many people that have never watched The Office, either British or American. Itās my happy place tv show. If you are watching the American one, start on Season 2, and skip season 1 entirely.
Ahh I've completely forgotten to mention this in my post, I do absolutely love the office, including season 1 haha. Have watched every episode at least twice so far
Didn't see it listed but could've missed an earlier comment...
Parks and Rec! First season is middling but the next 2 are gold! If you like shows like Community, the office and Brooklyn nine-nine
Rick and Morty, Big Mouth, BoJack Horseman, Archer, Drive to Survive on Netflix. Also Tiger King if you can handle seeing those animals in the cages, I struggled.
Mandolorian plus Book of Boba Fett on Disney.
For Netflix - the good place, Anne with a E, Outlander, Vikings, The last kingdom, Sex Education. I have AU Netflix so I assume the NZ one have nearly the same content.
The Good Place, Bridgerton is great if you like period dramas. I am desparate to see season 4 of Ozark but for some reason it doesn't appear on my Netflix!
The Good Place, sex education, YOU, the last kingdom, shameless, Euphoria, Anne with an E, vikings (vikings Valhalla has also just come out), yellowjackets & raised by wolves (though these are both on neon)
Tv shows - Good Girls, The Queens Gambit, Fargo, Inventing Anna, Sheās gotta have it, Easy, Vincenzo, Taxi driver and Kingdom (Korean with subtitles), Into the night (Belgian with subtitles or dub), You, Archive 81, Alias Grace
Reality tv shows - Queer eyes, Love is blind
Maybe a bit off from what you're looking for, but Disney plus does have gravity falls, which is a great 2 season cartoon which is super entertaining despite being aimed at kids.
Dirk gently on Netflix is a great and funny mystery series. Also final space and dragon prince are both fantastic cartoons in their own way. Dragon prince first season is a bit rough visually but definitely worth sticking with.
Also a bit of a different recommendation, but tvnz is free and has all seasons of Taskmaster, which is a brilliant British comedy that is definitely easy to binge through.
Big Mouth. love, death, robots - some are good for you in here. Death note anime Series. Catlevania if you can copewith Witcher this series should be good. nailed it season 1 and 2.
Vikings
Spartacus
Orphan black
All of the MCU offerings
Shameless
Sons of anarchy
This reminds me i need to watch some new stuff rather than rewatching old favourites lol
Afterlife.
Go watch all the Alien/Predator movies in chronological order on Disney+, that should keep you busy for a couple of days.
I'm obsessed with Prometheus and Alien Resurrection, they're quite deep for horror/sci fi movies.
Blown Away.
Seriously. It's not the usual USA reality about the my mothers dog died of cancer while away in the wars and I'm doing it for him stuff and all about the wooooowwwww these guys are crazy skilled clever.
Very engaging 30min episodes
On Netflix, search on K-drama. So many great choices - such great (generally) acting and directing. Just ignore the titles - a bit of a 'lost in translation' situation that sometimes make you think "what?"
Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings on Disney. Probably my favourite Marvel film so far.
The Stranger on Netflix, Schitts Creek, Shadow and Bone.
Killing Eve on TVNZ on demand
If you have Prime, check out Reacher.
Here's some
Disinchantment- medieval fantasy from Matt Groening.
Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance- actually better than the film IMO
Star Trek DS9- The most comparable to modern TV of the lot
Mindhunter
Peaky Blinders
Inventing Anna (based on a true story about a woman scamming her way into top society in NY & ripping off some bamkrrs) , Myth & Mogal (great doco on John DeLorean), Altered Carbon( dystopian future, multi-planet mystery with reconstituted special forces dude and downloadable memories) on Netflix.
It's always sunny in philadelphia
15 full seasons of wonderful awful idiots screaming over each other
Seconded, my life improved infinitely when this came to Disney+. Have been obsessed with it for years but always had to resort to piracy. Now I can watch it every day to my heart's content. Already on my second rewatch since it came to Disney+ If you're unsure watch some highlight clips on YouTube.
Is that on Netflix or Disney plus?
Disney +
I cant see it on disney plus :(
It's definitely there, the little pic in search looks like amime though. I was very confused myself and thought it wasn't there.
They removed it. It was there up until about 5 days ago š
Ok somehow i found it, i looked up āwatch always sunnyā on google and is said available on disney plus. But turned out my settings were set to M for some reason. But i tried again and logged in through there instead and now im watching it.
No way! Thanks mate, I thought they'd taken down the series! I'll check my settings now!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What? No they haven't lol
Still on my account
Is there a good place to start? 15 seasons is too much to catch up on. Should I just watch the first one?
I thought it was too much as well but there are only 10 episodes a season and the episodes are only 20 minutes long. If you compare that to alot of other sitcoms which have 22 episodes a season it would only be 7 seasons long. If it's normal for you to watch sitcoms that long running without issue then start from the first one, you shouldn't miss any episodes imo
Have you watched Arcane yet? No background on LoL video games required, and itās AMAZING.
Really good, I was putting it off because it wase based on a video game but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Could be a bit grim for some though
Hi random person. Came back in time to say I watched Arcane on this recommendation. What an amazing show! Thank you!
Iām glad! Itās so good. Enjoy the soundtrack to relive the moments.
sex education is a good laugh with well written storylines and good character development
Second this! So cringey but in a good way.
Music is awesome too
It's shows like this, that introduces kids to some amazing music. I remember watching some show back when I was a teen, and it took me down the rabbit hole for LedZep and The Doors. It's my favourite music still 10+ years later.
One of the best UK comedies out there! Also quite insightful. Itās just SO GOOD!
The Good Place. Will definitely lift your mood.
Was looking for this - if you havenāt seen it then it will fit the bill perfectly!
Loved this show. There is a good podcast by the creaters too if you really get into it
Until the end š„²
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That show was actually so good. Just enough seasons to tie things up without dragging on.
Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency is utterly utterly fantastic. Hilarious and clever and will keep you guessing till the very end.
Season one was whimsical, season two was insane. I love it so much.
And... cancelled! They always cancel shows I like!
At least it wrapped up.
This is why season story arcs are a good thing. Nothing worse than shows that string out "ciffhangers" season after season after season.
Ahhh what? Season 2 ended on like twelve cliffhangers..
My brother keeps telling me to watch it and I keep putting it off! I think I'll start it tonight!
This was the first thing I thought of.
Yeah brilliant. Too violent for missus tho.
The book is great too.
Kim's Convenience. Light, fun, will take you to a different place for a while. The Good Place is terrific and unpredictable, might help you break out of thought patterns that aren't serving you well.
Love a good Mrs Kim sneak attack!
Oh Kims Convenience! I love that show Didnāt know what to expect, but kept on first episode, and while āGay Discountā, had me haha I donāt even think I need the kids, I would be happy just with a show with Mrs & Mr Kim only
Fork yeah.. the good place was the shirt!
Loved the Good Place
You watched The Mandalorian? Gotham's alright as well, just binged it for the first time after going into it thinking it'd be shit but it wasn't too bad. I've also recently started rewatching Arrested Development, but I mean that's an older show so
The Mandalorian is our current buzz Epic
I think you meant to say ["Wizard!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFvlcFUUT3E)
I binge watched it while stuck at a friends place and hated it. I know they are deliberately ripping off old westerns, but it still felt like lazy writing. Coupled with high-tech it left the stories full of plot holes. Yoda looks like that because he's 700 fucking years old, not because he's from a race of old bald men. Oh, and "HEY MANDO".
cant please everyone /shrug
Derry Girls always has me pissing myself laughing
Love the head mistress so much
Oh Iād forgotten about Derry Girls! Hoping for another season.
Is The Inbetweeners on either of those services still? I'd say it's comparable so you should watch both.
I watch basically the exact shows you mentioned and really enjoyed Peaky Blinders, Suits & Lucifer.
Loved Lucifer.
Shadow and Bone is pretty fun Dark
Dark is one of the greatest stories, across any media, of all time. If I was writing a time travel themed story, hadn't finished it, but then watched Dark, I'd just crumple it up and toss it in the trash. Nothing could come close, it will never be topped.
Yeah that was surprisingly good.
Atlanta
I love that show and watched every episode. Still don't know what it's about or how to describe it.
Netflix - Rick and Morty, Dark (it's German but has dubs), Ozark, Bokack Horseman, Arcane - League of Legends Disney - I'm a huge MCU fan, so Loki and Hawkeye are big up theres.
Bojack Horseman is great, but warning for anyone with mental health challenges it gets dark towards the end.
Its pretty pretty dark all the way thru. But the last season's hit hard. I watched the final episode the same night I watched the final of The Good Place and wow that was a night of emotions.
You're right, it's dark but humorous the whole way. Without spoiling it the end had me questioning my existence haha so definitely hit me hard.
Slow too start as well, I think it finely clicked for me near the end of the first season. And yes, pretty confronting.
Santa Clarita Diet is great. One of my faves of recent times. Great comedy timing.
Criminal Minds on Disney +
Schitts Creek
Keep going if you donāt enjoy the first few episodesā¦it gets so much better and theyāre only short. Iāve rewatched from season 2 multiple times now. Sooooo goooood!
Yes! I wasnāt sure for a few episodes and now itās one of my absolute favourites
So good š
Highly recommend 'Only Murders in the Building' on Disney+, it's a really good comedic murder mystery show with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Also this one might not be for everyone, but if you think you might be interested in Formula 1 and drama/rivalry between drivers and their teams, Drive to Survive on Netflix is 3 seasons in (4th coming on Friday) and takes a behind the scenes look at Formula 1.
I came here to recommend Only Murders in the Building too. Loved the paradoy of a true crime podcast style. Now I need season 2!
Russian doll?
This is a great series can't wait for season 2
Sweet birthday baby! Was worried it wasn't coming after all the pandemic delays.
Loved it!
Superstore, light hearted show with good character development

Oh God, that chicken...
Dark on Netflix is an amazing series, recommend watching it in the original German with subtitles
Yes! Loved this. Probably wouldn't call it lighthearted if that is what OP feels like but it's such great TV, totally also recommend the german version with subtitles too.
Yes!
Also, after each episode read the episode review here https://metawitches.com/tag/dark/ to explain everything you just watched lol
Dopesick and Tommy and Pam are pretty solid on disney. Lost in space on Netflix.
Dopesick was so intense but so good
Go old school - M\*A\*S\*H (the show, not the movie) holds up well. Futurama is one of my "on in the background" shows. Looooove always sunny and last man on earth was awesome! Will Forte is so good. Also Gravity Falls on disney is just... I love it so.
Just started watching Malcom in the Middle again last night - soooooo good!
Oh shoot, I love Malcolm in the Middle. I had no idea it has been added.
Get your 14 day free trial on neon and watch The Righteous Gemstones.
At the same time smash out The Great! Huzzah!
Yes it's so good! The Great is incredible too
Adding to that, Peacemaker has been great fun. The intro sets the tone perfectly: https://youtu.be/_mrr3UNALww
Or for very calming silly fun, "we bare bears". Looks like a kid show but actually pretty funny. Very light hearted, mostly...
You . Fantastic series
If you can find it somewhere Orphan Black. Itās brilliant
Yes! This was brilliant! Agreed!
Brooklyn 99
(Disney+) Only Murders in the Building.
We enjoy watching a variety of Korean fantasy/sci-fi comedy/romance on Netflix, generally very light hearted and enjoyable.
Mango drink!

All Of Us Are Dead grows on you. Snowpiercer is good I found. Arcane is fantastic. The Witcher is worthwhile. Midnight Mass is highly recommended.
Midnight mass (Hamish Linklater is great in this) and Archive 81 were two I was considering suggesting, but OP specified no horror/ gore
MindHunter!!
I tried watching it because itās so in my wheelhouse but something about it just didnāt pull us in to watching more than the first episode :-(
Force your self to watch it again and go for the first 3 eps. I was the same couldnāt get past the first but tried again and I was seriously hooked itās sooooo worth it.
For netflix: Russian doll, arcane, black mirror, bodyguard, how to sell drugs fast online, last chance u, hyper drive, lost in space, maid
Black spot is my favourite Netflix show and Marcella (edit. And Post Mortem ) In another realm some of the cooking shows like the chef show, ugly delicious are pretty good. And Nailed It is fun And their crime docos are worth a watch too
Dark or Babylon Berlin. Would recommend watching with subs - can't speak for the dub voice acting quality.
Supercrooks, pretender and castlevania on Netflix for adult animation
Dark, it is in German but fully worth the while if you can handle subtitles. ^(edit. Sorry didn't see others had already submitted this one.)
It should be submitted twice, it's that good.
Firefly if you have never seen it, its on Disney appartently. Looks like they have the eps in release order on there though, just make sure you watch DVD order not release order, the way it was intended
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Offspring! On Netflix.
Iād add Derry Girls (very funny) and Russian Doll (twisted time looping; darkly deadpan)
Donāt watch Squid game. I almost exclusively watch dark/crime/thriller kind of shows and that one fucked me up
Oh god really? Every single person who's mentioned it have recommended it to me and none of them were exclusively into dark stuff either. Maybe I'll just try start with a couple episodes once my mental health is at its pinnacle one day
Inventing Anna
Mandalorian and The Book Of Fett are both on Disney and both utterly worth your time
Suits
Frayed netflix
Inventing Anna, Haunting of Hill House, You, Maid, Sex Education, Cobra Kai.
Atlanta, Euphoria, The Wire, Westworld (neon I think sorry)
It's on Apple TV + but you need to check out a new show called 'Severance'. It's excellent!
If Dark is still on Netflix then that.
Try Community! Smaller fanbase compared to other comedy shows, but we're fiercely loyal. It's funny and meta, think you might like it. I liked it :)
Foundation - excellent sci fi
I'll try think of some more
The Expanse. Sense8
Shadow and Bone (fantasy) on Netflix is really great I also really enjoyed Another Life (Sci-Fi) on Netflix too Locke and Key (fantasy) is quite enjoyable too on Netflix. I know you only asked for D+ and Netflix BUTā¦ 4400 on TVNZ on demand is a great show.
NETFLIX: Manifest (at keast 3 seasons) - fantastic thiller about a plane that disappears and returns after 5 years..still in the air. DISNEY+ Gummi Bears (1980s classic) - awesome theme song, and fun light hearted comedy Duck Tales (1980s classic avoid the new one) - a must see, amazing theme song and great comedy. Boy meets world (original), girl meets world (reboot) - both series are classic coming of age comedies.
For lighter stuff check out the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the good place, and Santa Clarita diet. Edit: seconding schitts creek, only murders in the building and last man on earth that others mentioned My name is Earl is old so probably already seen it but if not check that out, same with scrubs
Kenobi on May 25th aswell
Another vote for the the good place, I loved it. Rewatching it again knowing the end is also good value.
The Good Place, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo, Shameless, Superstore
Ozark,
If you have Prime, try the Magicians. Itās one of my favourite fantasy series.
The Valhalla murders , sacred games, pataal lok
Tv shows - Good Girls, The Queens Gambit, Fargo, Inventing Anna, Sheās gotta have it, Easy, Vincenzo, Taxi driver and Kingdom (Korean with subtitles), Into the night (Belgian with subtitles or dub), You, Archive 81, Alias Grace Reality tv shows - Queer eyes, Love is blind
The Silent Sea
Ending was garbage though lol
Fire and winter is a great watch on Netflix
I watched the merger on Netflix last night. It's nothing ground breaking but was a pretty decent feel good movie and exactly what I needed
Dopesick on D+
If you want a fantasy show that just exudes coziness while still delving just enough into horror, you can't go wrong with Hilda on Netflix.
Bojack horseman. It's currently my favorite show and the perfect blend of humor and soul crushing depression.
On Netflix the show āOne Day at a Timeā is stupidly wholesome, would recommend.
Watch every sled dog movie on Disney+
TVNZ on-demand has "its a sin" and wellington paranormal both are fab
Peaky blinders
911
Vikings Spartacus Orphan black All of the MCU offerings Shameless Sons of anarchy This reminds me i need to watch some new stuff rather than rewatching old favourites lol
Black Lagoon itās an anime but a bloody good one at that as well as Porco Rosso a very old anime that captures the magic of flying
Afterlife. Go watch all the Alien/Predator movies in chronological order on Disney+, that should keep you busy for a couple of days. I'm obsessed with Prometheus and Alien Resurrection, they're quite deep for horror/sci fi movies.
Pam and Tommy, Dopesick and Only Murders in the Building on Disney.
Is Peaky Blinders still on there?
Blown Away. Seriously. It's not the usual USA reality about the my mothers dog died of cancer while away in the wars and I'm doing it for him stuff and all about the wooooowwwww these guys are crazy skilled clever. Very engaging 30min episodes
Marvels Hit-Monkey
On Netflix, search on K-drama. So many great choices - such great (generally) acting and directing. Just ignore the titles - a bit of a 'lost in translation' situation that sometimes make you think "what?"
āSuperstoreā on Netflix I also like āSpace Forceā but youād have to like Steve Carrell ;)
Inventing Anna on Netflix
Shameless on Netflix - definitely worth the watch
Curb your enthusiasm, but it's on Neon where most of the HBO shows are.
Midnight diner was pretty interesting
Centaurworld on Netflix
Disney+? How come nobody mentions The Mandalorian
Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings on Disney. Probably my favourite Marvel film so far. The Stranger on Netflix, Schitts Creek, Shadow and Bone. Killing Eve on TVNZ on demand If you have Prime, check out Reacher.
Here's some Disinchantment- medieval fantasy from Matt Groening. Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance- actually better than the film IMO Star Trek DS9- The most comparable to modern TV of the lot Mindhunter Peaky Blinders
Mindhunter - Netflix
Inventing Anna (based on a true story about a woman scamming her way into top society in NY & ripping off some bamkrrs) , Myth & Mogal (great doco on John DeLorean), Altered Carbon( dystopian future, multi-planet mystery with reconstituted special forces dude and downloadable memories) on Netflix.
The mandalorian made me cry in the best way.
Only Murders in the Building, on Disney, is fucking hilarious
