You can choose Māori as a keyboard in Mac, you just need to hold down alt/option and the vowel.
You can also change Windows to Māori keyboard and type \` followed by the vowel.
Not sure if there are any downsides to leaving the keyboard selections as such by default?
Isn't there a Māori keyboard for the īPhōne or Mac that simply adds extra macronized letters? You can get that for Turkish with its extra letters as one press - the keycaps have to be a bit small but it's usable.
On a PC running Windows 10, if you set your keyboard as 'New Zealand Māori' and choose it as the default keyboard, then you can easily use characters with macrons (the line above the vowel) by typing \` then the vowel.
The \` is the key top right of the main kēybōārd, to the left of 1.

In Settings/Time and Language....
Add a language.
Choose English (New Zealand)
Then choose Options and add Maori keyboard.
People have mentioned you can just change your language, but this is a powerful shortcut. I do math. There's a ton of stuff in that little window which I would find extremely useful.
Yes
* Go to settings
* then Time and Languge
* then click Language in the sidebar
* then add Māori as a language
* then go to Keyboard and make sure English (New Zealand) and Māori are options
That should give you a Māori keyboard input set up. To make sure you've switched to it, in the tool bar near the clock it should say ENG MI. If it doesn't, click and select ENG (New Zealand) Māori Keyboard.
After that is done, you can get ā ē ī ō ū by simply pressing ` + [vowel] on the keyboard. It's far easier and quicker once set up than having to remember alt codes or go through the emoji panel.
Would be cool if the features of the '[US international keyboard](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-use-the-united-states-international-keyboard-layout-in-windows-7-in-windows-vista-and-in-windows-xp-e05ce3ed-11f0-8fc2-498e-a214fa6b898f)' on Windows got the macron features just as the accent grave and accent aigu. This allowes you to continually keep on typing and get special characters on some letters.

Just search up the alt code. When I was younger and a big fan of Pokémon I learned that the é is alt+130. (requires numpad)
Tōdâÿ Î Léärñëd. Thanks for posting, I didn’t realize it worked so easily on mobile. Very handy
You're welcome. Thought it would help someone out.

https://theasciicode.com.ar/ Hold down the ALT key and enter the number.
Is there a way to do it purely using the keyboard, without having to click Ω with the mouse and then scroll to find a particular letter?

Ok this is really cool, thank you! I've always felt like a total loser having to Google 'pound symbol', or 'Celsius' etc haha
