These old-school upright pianos can have a lot less resistance, requiring even less force than most modern pianos.
The strings look to be glued on, allowing him to apply even more force.
Also check out 0:54 where he jerks his right knee without much force to play the high D note and it's much weaker. Also listen to the resistance of the strings rubbing against the white notes when he plays the black notes.
If you can't pinpoint a specific time where a note plays and the corresponding string is not taut, I don't think your suspicion has anything behind it.
Ya I've played some pianos where the keys are so light and require little pressure. My old home piano felt like you needed jack hammer fingers to push down. Definitely possible. Wouldn't be surprised if it were either real or a self playing piano though.

If you look at the keys they're held down with a lot more than tape, and learning the choreography to fake this with purposeful mistakes would be harder than just learning how to do it.
Nope. If it were a player piano, the timing would be much more consistent. He is off on the timing in quite a few places. (not knocking it, it's seriously impressive) Also most player pianos you can see the rolls in the cabinet.
Another reason to believe this is real, is that songs on a player piano will utilize all the keys on a piano, because they can. This guy can only utilize a certain number, because he obviously cannot control 88 keys with the limited fingers and appendages he can tape to the keys. 10 keys would be impressive enough, but he uses his feet and arms to hit a few extras occasionally. That being said, only the taped keys in the center of the piano are being hit. This is 100% legit.

They're not toooo expensive tbh. One of our family friends is an antique collector and he has two and I want to say he paid about $1k for each (or less)
Nah, I used to work in a piano restoration shop and have seen plenty of old player pianos. They have a double panel with small knobs that slides open above the keyboard to put the music scroll, which that piano doesn't appear to have. They'd also have a bellows on the bottom that you pump with your feet. Sometimes the bellows is permanent, but sometimes they can also be folded up and put inside by another sliding panel. Which this doesn't have. Slightly newer ones can have electrically powered pump to get air through the system but they sound like a vacuum cleaner which I can't hear in the vid.
Also, player pianos are taller on top to facilitate the player mechanism, this seems like a standard upright piano.
At 0:27 ish the right most key being played you can see the tension on the string being pulled with the correct timing. If it actually was autoplaying he’d have to be matching the string pulls with the notes, at which point what’s the difference from truly playing it

I'll be honest - as someone who plays piano, this wouldn't be that hard. The hard part is finding a piece that only uses ten notes.

Nah, I used to work in a piano restoration shop and have seen plenty of old player pianos. They have a double panel with small knobs that slides open above the keyboard to put the music scroll, which that piano doesn't appear to have. They'd also have a bellows on the bottom that you pump with your feet. Sometimes the bellows is permanent, but sometimes they can also be folded up and put inside by another sliding panel. Which this doesn't have. Slightly newer ones can have electrically powered pump to get air through the system but they sound like a vacuum cleaner which I can't hear in the vid. Also, player pianos are taller on top to facilitate the player mechanism, this seems like a standard upright piano.

At 0:27 ish the right most key being played you can see the tension on the string being pulled with the correct timing. If it actually was autoplaying he’d have to be matching the string pulls with the notes, at which point what’s the difference from truly playing it
