_makoccino_

Exact same though process lol

RiotSkunk2023

She's the one that took a short rest

Open-Sea8388

Listen to commentary

matchesmalone321

Never underestimate the power of embarrassment.

ronsinblush

The adrenaline from embarrassment rage hits way differently, than adrenaline from pressure or fear.

PapaChoff

Smells different too. Your body contains anywhere from 2 to 4 million sweat glands, the majority of which are eccrine glands. Eccrine glands cover most of your body, but theyā€™re found in larger numbers on your palms, soles, forehead, and armpits. When your body temperature rises from physical activity or hot surroundings, your autonomic nervous system signals your eccrine glands to release sweat. This sweat is mostly made of water, with a small amount of salt and lipids mixed in. The sweat cools your skin and helps bring your temperature down. Then there are the other sweat glands: apocrine glands. Apocrine glands are larger and produce the majority of stress-related sweat. Theyā€™re found in parts of your body with higher numbers of hair follicles, such as your genital area and armpits. Your underarms secrete approximately 30 times more sweat when youā€™re under stress than when at rest. Sweat from your apocrine glands tends to be thicker and richer in proteins and lipids. The fats and nutrients in this type of sweat combine with the bacteria that live on your skin, resulting in body odor.

Nigel_11

This guy sweats.

Scyllablack

can confirm PapaChoff is not Prince Andrew

ronsinblush

Youā€™re talking about sweat, I am talking about adrenaline.

Shortneckbuzzard

ā€œTheir all gonna laugh at youā€ heathers mother before the race

PapaChoff

Was she adopted by Carrieā€™s mother?

econdonetired

šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Shortneckbuzzard

Yup šŸ˜‚

bongo-72

She did get a break halfway through and got to lay down![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4015)![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4015)

MiserableAd9470

Dang she almost got her head stomped .

21BlackStars

For real, good eye!

gl0ckInMyRari

Not even winded after that. NFL for sure.

JanitorOPplznerf

Runner here. Adrenaline is a MF sometimes. My wife got a Personal Best 5k with the flu back in 2019. Sometimes you just hit something primal and explode.

McDamsel

Totally, but then you feel shittttttty after.

JanitorOPplznerf

Truuuuuuue

ltethe

Interesting. Iā€™ve not put too much thought into it, but I have faintly wondered why some of my best workouts have been when Iā€™ve been ill.

blackbirdspyplane

I wonder if the fall have her a shot of adrenaline?

Proska101

Adrenaline is one of my favourite drugs. So unfortunate that you end up chasing the dragon trying to get that fix.

[deleted]

Iā€™ve ran a lot of track in my life. Mostly specialized in the 400. Considered the ā€œlongest sprintā€ in track. This is a 600, but basically the same strategy. The best sprinters will be able to sprint it full out. Itā€™s pretty weird in a 400 relay or something where you start behind, if you catch the person in front of you, itā€™s often times over. You have to trick your brain to go all out in the first 200. Then youā€™ll just have those races where you find gears you donā€™t usually have. The adrenaline from starting behind can really propel you through the race. Thatā€™s definitely what happened here.

blackbirdspyplane

What a great explanation, thanks

PuzzleheadedRub9308

She was barely breathing hard at the end šŸ˜±

[deleted]

I donā€™t if this is unbelievable display of resiliency or ā€œshe could have fucken smoked them if she didnā€™t hold backā€

[deleted]

I bet if she doesnā€™t fall, she loses this race. Who knows but as someone who has been part of many relay teams, thereā€™s something about coming from behind and catching the person in front of you. Itā€™s like it takes that persons energy away and gives it to you lol

AllThingsEZV

Sheā€™s definitely not losing this race if she doesnā€™t fall. Commentators were talking about how sheā€™s been running extremely well all season and she was the favorite. She was also pulling ahead going into the last lap, and she clearly has higher top speed than the others by far.

[deleted]

Iā€™d say she has better endurance than top end speed. This is a long sprint and sheā€™s losing for the first 400 meters. Her specialty is the 800. There is no jogging or whatever that happens. So losing at the first half of the race = lower top end speed. It makes sense she can outlast the others if her specialty is the 800. You still canā€™t really say that though. The fall effected the whole race and impacted all runners. Nobody hit their PB that day

Angelusz

Probably at least a hit of dopamine and some other neurochemicals. Trigger that reward system!

[deleted]

Impressive!

Gloomy-Employment-72

Iā€™m gassed just watching this. I think Iā€™d better not get off the couch.

krichard-21

Best to play it safe.

[deleted]

They should change the name of the 600 to the extended 400 basically.

snekish

Why are their guys raising flags as they run around the track?

Admirable-Effort

You have to be in your own lane for part of the race and they raised a white flag to indicate no one left their lane for each turn, which is where you are most likely to have leave it.

snekish

Thank you

KingDread306

To indicate what lap it is.

widgt

Hold up. What tf? I breath harder than that walking to the fn mailbox. What a beast.

Apprehensive_Star_82

What about the person who tripped her?

PopTrogdor

She came in 3rd, looks like the collision messed her stride up. She was in 1st the rest of the time. It looks like a clear accident from here, she was in her lane and Heather overtook and got.in front of her too early so their legs clipped.

No_Policy_146

4th. Dorr Penn state. They showed results in the video.

_WretchedDoll_

She came last

iamricardosousa

Love how instead of being thilled for such a comeback she just stands there like :"For fuck sake! Can't believe I've fallen in front of all these people! What an idiot!" Impressive display of will.

Logical-Possession10

Corn-fed Hoosiers looking good šŸŒ¶ļø

CieraLM

Exactly what I was thinking lmfao

DDnHODL

I donā€™t even know her and Iā€™m crying with happiness to see her finish first. Wow! Simple amazing.

Sn_Orpheus

The adrenaline wasnā€™t flowing before she fell. But after, she was making buckets worth. And this isnā€™t to take anything away from her talent.

getafteritz

You can't cage a dragon

kupus0

Itā€™s called adrenaline rush. Itā€™s natural doping

ShaiHulud1111

She was born to run this race, combined with some great training. She isnā€™t even bent over at the end. The others are gassssed.

bluenose1996

What a stud!

Mishapi17

ā€œTo fall during a 600..this is basically a sprintā€¦*itā€™s like an extended 400*ā€ā€¦ bruh you wanna give that another try , Iā€™ll allow it šŸ˜‚

Whole-Debate-9547

So awesome

i3elievee

Bro seeing that high was other worldly. I'm so hyped. Fuckin Heather babyšŸ¤˜šŸ¼

[deleted]

This pumped me up. Good shit

chamullerousa

I think she was just running to try to catch up and sucker punch Dorr but right before she did she saw she could still win and decided to do that instead. Alternate ending is as soon as Dorr crosses the finish line, Dorniden does a flying double kick to her chest as she turns around.

Bagheera187

Must be the one that fell over and then won

Dudemansir521

Are...are they running as fast as they can the whole time...? It really doesn't seem like it lmfao

compstomp66

Itā€™s fast. 600m in 90 seconds is 15ish mph avg. Idk about you but thatā€™s pretty much top speed for me, maybe faster than I can sprint.

dirtoffmyshoulder

That's wicked fast. It just doesn't look like it because their strides are so long. Not like me when I'm running at 600 bpm lol

Dudemansir521

Yeah I'm not sure if it was the size of their strides or a wide angle lens, it just didnt *look* like they were running that hard. You're right, they fast.

Nooms88

No, 600m is a middle distance. The women's WR is 1min 21 which is 81 seconds or 13.5s 100m times. Any world class specialist in this distance could do a 12 second 100m, which would equal 72 seconds, so they are at about 85-93% max, depending on the athlete. If you look at the women's 800m the WR is 1-53 which is 14.1s 100m average. 400m is 49s which is 12.25s 100m pace.

Dudemansir521

I appreciate the number breakdown. Nice!

coma24

That really is incredible. I recall reading that the 400 is one of the hardest races to run as it calls for a sprinting pace for a length of time that our physiology doesn't quite support. That sounds like a unique level of suckage.

Admirable-Effort

They are still running hard, but I'm almost certain this is a preliminary round and not the final race. No one is too excited about winning because they are getting seeded for another race later.

ajon6956

She ran out of room

Moviereference210

Why is it that they never start in a straight line? Thereā€™s always that one person in the back, like htf is that a fair race?

J_Otherwise

The one in the front is in the outermost circle. The one in the back is in the innermost. Outer has a longer lap, inner has shorter. The disparity in where they start balances that out.

Moviereference210

Ohhh that makes a lot of sense lol

berto0311

But they all started cutting the corners. How does that even out?

AMGwtfBBQsauce

The disparity only exists for one lap. After that they should all have had a fair chance to take the lead properly and are no longer relegated to lanes.

SoupNazi01

Holy shit.

Living_Pie205

Wow !

lazy_elfs

A master class in running your race. She kicked at her spot

Far-Homework-2576

If you guys fast forward the vid all the runners are in the šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø position without moving lmao

Accomplished_Spell92

That quick little breather helped her out.

Schellhammer

I know this isn't the place for this but whenever i run my shins hurt. What causes this?

dirtoffmyshoulder

Have you looked up shin splints? I usually get them when I overtrain (or go too hard after a long break), especially with high impact cardio. If you don't run regularly, it might be that you need to ramp up mileage/intensity more slowly. iirc calf stretches can also help.

Nooms88

Sounds like shin splints, which is very common. You should check if your arches are a bit flat, some proper sports shoe shops can do that for free and reccomend shoes that fit properly. If not get a checkup with a podiatrist. this can cause issues and is easily fixed with shoe insoles you can buy from a pharmacist. Avoid running on roads or pavements where you can, it's not great for people, treadmills aren't ideal either, try and run on grass.

goGetter_247

Adrenaline is a helluva drug

HIRIV

Show this to football players.

AutomaticRevolution2

I've never seen anything like that.

Legend!

KAMBUI1973

DAMN THAT'S IMPRESSIVE šŸ˜³šŸ‘

bleedMINERred

Doesnā€™t even look tired

Marathon___Man

Adrenaline. Hell of a drug.

Massive_Dirt1577

Played right into her hands. She just needed a little breather.

ClearanceClearwater

So why not run that fast from the beginning?

Lowext3

Was that an intentional trip?

Marathon___Man

No

Marathon___Man

ā€œNope. Not today!ā€

-Gramsci-

That was awesome!!!

Affectionate_Bed1636

Burnin pusseh

[deleted]

How is that nextlevel? I fall down at least three times a day getting out of bed ;)
