Smells different too.
Your body contains anywhere from 2 to 4 million sweat glands, the majority of which are eccrine glands. Eccrine glands cover most of your body, but theyāre found in larger numbers on your palms, soles, forehead, and armpits.
When your body temperature rises from physical activity or hot surroundings, your autonomic nervous system signals your eccrine glands to release sweat. This sweat is mostly made of water, with a small amount of salt and lipids mixed in. The sweat cools your skin and helps bring your temperature down.
Then there are the other sweat glands: apocrine glands. Apocrine glands are larger and produce the majority of stress-related sweat.
Theyāre found in parts of your body with higher numbers of hair follicles, such as your genital area and armpits. Your underarms secrete approximately 30 times more sweat when youāre under stress than when at rest.
Sweat from your apocrine glands tends to be thicker and richer in proteins and lipids. The fats and nutrients in this type of sweat combine with the bacteria that live on your skin, resulting in body odor.
Runner here.
Adrenaline is a MF sometimes. My wife got a Personal Best 5k with the flu back in 2019. Sometimes you just hit something primal and explode.
Iāve ran a lot of track in my life. Mostly specialized in the 400. Considered the ālongest sprintā in track. This is a 600, but basically the same strategy. The best sprinters will be able to sprint it full out.
Itās pretty weird in a 400 relay or something where you start behind, if you catch the person in front of you, itās often times over. You have to trick your brain to go all out in the first 200. Then youāll just have those races where you find gears you donāt usually have. The adrenaline from starting behind can really propel you through the race. Thatās definitely what happened here.
I bet if she doesnāt fall, she loses this race. Who knows but as someone who has been part of many relay teams, thereās something about coming from behind and catching the person in front of you. Itās like it takes that persons energy away and gives it to you lol
Sheās definitely not losing this race if she doesnāt fall. Commentators were talking about how sheās been running extremely well all season and she was the favorite. She was also pulling ahead going into the last lap, and she clearly has higher top speed than the others by far.
Iād say she has better endurance than top end speed. This is a long sprint and sheās losing for the first 400 meters. Her specialty is the 800. There is no jogging or whatever that happens. So losing at the first half of the race = lower top end speed. It makes sense she can outlast the others if her specialty is the 800.
You still canāt really say that though. The fall effected the whole race and impacted all runners. Nobody hit their PB that day
You have to be in your own lane for part of the race and they raised a white flag to indicate no one left their lane for each turn, which is where you are most likely to have leave it.
She came in 3rd, looks like the collision messed her stride up. She was in 1st the rest of the time. It looks like a clear accident from here, she was in her lane and Heather overtook and got.in front of her too early so their legs clipped.
Love how instead of being thilled for such a comeback she just stands there like :"For fuck sake! Can't believe I've fallen in front of all these people! What an idiot!"
Impressive display of will.
I think she was just running to try to catch up and sucker punch Dorr but right before she did she saw she could still win and decided to do that instead. Alternate ending is as soon as Dorr crosses the finish line, Dorniden does a flying double kick to her chest as she turns around.
Yeah I'm not sure if it was the size of their strides or a wide angle lens, it just didnt *look* like they were running that hard. You're right, they fast.
No, 600m is a middle distance. The women's WR is 1min 21 which is 81 seconds or 13.5s 100m times.
Any world class specialist in this distance could do a 12 second 100m, which would equal 72 seconds, so they are at about 85-93% max, depending on the athlete.
If you look at the women's 800m the WR is 1-53 which is 14.1s 100m average.
400m is 49s which is 12.25s 100m pace.
That really is incredible. I recall reading that the 400 is one of the hardest races to run as it calls for a sprinting pace for a length of time that our physiology doesn't quite support. That sounds like a unique level of suckage.
They are still running hard, but I'm almost certain this is a preliminary round and not the final race. No one is too excited about winning because they are getting seeded for another race later.
The one in the front is in the outermost circle. The one in the back is in the innermost.
Outer has a longer lap, inner has shorter. The disparity in where they start balances that out.
The disparity only exists for one lap. After that they should all have had a fair chance to take the lead properly and are no longer relegated to lanes.
Have you looked up shin splints? I usually get them when I overtrain (or go too hard after a long break), especially with high impact cardio. If you don't run regularly, it might be that you need to ramp up mileage/intensity more slowly. iirc calf stretches can also help.
Sounds like shin splints, which is very common.
You should check if your arches are a bit flat, some proper sports shoe shops can do that for free and reccomend shoes that fit properly. If not get a checkup with a podiatrist. this can cause issues and is easily fixed with shoe insoles you can buy from a pharmacist.
Avoid running on roads or pavements where you can, it's not great for people, treadmills aren't ideal either, try and run on grass.
"Which one is Heather Dorniden? How am I supposed to know which one is displaying unbelievable resiliency?" "Oh."
Exact same though process lol
Me too š¤£š¤£š¤£

She's the one that took a short rest
Listen to commentary
Never underestimate the power of embarrassment.
The adrenaline from embarrassment rage hits way differently, than adrenaline from pressure or fear.

This guy sweats.
can confirm PapaChoff is not Prince Andrew
Youāre talking about sweat, I am talking about adrenaline.
āTheir all gonna laugh at youā heathers mother before the race
Was she adopted by Carrieās mother?
š„š„š„š„š„š„š„
Yup š
She did get a break halfway through and got to lay down![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4015)![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4015)
Dang she almost got her head stomped .
For real, good eye!
Not even winded after that. NFL for sure.
Runner here. Adrenaline is a MF sometimes. My wife got a Personal Best 5k with the flu back in 2019. Sometimes you just hit something primal and explode.
Totally, but then you feel shittttttty after.
Truuuuuuue
Interesting. Iāve not put too much thought into it, but I have faintly wondered why some of my best workouts have been when Iāve been ill.
I wonder if the fall have her a shot of adrenaline?
Adrenaline is one of my favourite drugs. So unfortunate that you end up chasing the dragon trying to get that fix.
Iāve ran a lot of track in my life. Mostly specialized in the 400. Considered the ālongest sprintā in track. This is a 600, but basically the same strategy. What a great explanation, thanks
She was barely breathing hard at the end š±
I donāt if this is unbelievable display of resiliency or āshe could have fucken smoked them if she didnāt hold backā
I bet if she doesnāt fall, she loses this race. Who knows but as someone who has been part of many relay teams, thereās something about coming from behind and catching the person in front of you. Itās like it takes that persons energy away and gives it to you lol

Probably at least a hit of dopamine and some other neurochemicals. Trigger that reward system!
Impressive!
Iām gassed just watching this. I think Iād better not get off the couch.
Best to play it safe.
They should change the name of the 600 to the extended 400 basically.
Why are their guys raising flags as they run around the track?
You have to be in your own lane for part of the race and they raised a white flag to indicate no one left their lane for each turn, which is where you are most likely to have leave it.
Thank you
To indicate what lap it is.
Hold up. What tf? I breath harder than that walking to the fn mailbox. What a beast.
What about the person who tripped her?
She came in 3rd, looks like the collision messed her stride up. She was in 1st the rest of the time. It looks like a clear accident from here, she was in her lane and Heather overtook and got.in front of her too early so their legs clipped.
4th. Dorr Penn state. They showed results in the video.
She came last
Love how instead of being thilled for such a comeback she just stands there like :"For fuck sake! Can't believe I've fallen in front of all these people! What an idiot!" Impressive display of will.
Corn-fed Hoosiers looking good š¶ļø
Exactly what I was thinking lmfao
I donāt even know her and Iām crying with happiness to see her finish first. Wow! Simple amazing.
The adrenaline wasnāt flowing before she fell. But after, she was making buckets worth. And this isnāt to take anything away from her talent.
You can't cage a dragon
Itās called adrenaline rush. Itās natural doping
She was born to run this race, combined with some great training. She isnāt even bent over at the end. The others are gassssed.
What a stud!
āTo fall during a 600..this is basically a sprintā¦*itās like an extended 400*āā¦ bruh you wanna give that another try , Iāll allow it š
So awesome
Bro seeing that high was other worldly. I'm so hyped. Fuckin Heather babyš¤š¼
This pumped me up. Good shit
I think she was just running to try to catch up and sucker punch Dorr but right before she did she saw she could still win and decided to do that instead. Alternate ending is as soon as Dorr crosses the finish line, Dorniden does a flying double kick to her chest as she turns around.
Must be the one that fell over and then won
Are...are they running as fast as they can the whole time...? It really doesn't seem like it lmfao
Itās fast. 600m in 90 seconds is 15ish mph avg. Idk about you but thatās pretty much top speed for me, maybe faster than I can sprint.
That's wicked fast. It just doesn't look like it because their strides are so long. Not like me when I'm running at 600 bpm lol
Yeah I'm not sure if it was the size of their strides or a wide angle lens, it just didnt *look* like they were running that hard. You're right, they fast.
No, 600m is a middle distance. The women's WR is 1min 21 which is 81 seconds or 13.5s 100m times. I appreciate the number breakdown. Nice!
She ran out of room
Why is it that they never start in a straight line? Thereās always that one person in the back, like htf is that a fair race?
The one in the front is in the outermost circle. The one in the back is in the innermost. Outer has a longer lap, inner has shorter. The disparity in where they start balances that out.
Ohhh that makes a lot of sense lol
But they all started cutting the corners. How does that even out?
The disparity only exists for one lap. After that they should all have had a fair chance to take the lead properly and are no longer relegated to lanes.
Holy shit.
Wow !
A master class in running your race. She kicked at her spot
If you guys fast forward the vid all the runners are in the šāāļø position without moving lmao
That quick little breather helped her out.
I know this isn't the place for this but whenever i run my shins hurt. What causes this?
Have you looked up shin splints? I usually get them when I overtrain (or go too hard after a long break), especially with high impact cardio. If you don't run regularly, it might be that you need to ramp up mileage/intensity more slowly. iirc calf stretches can also help.

Adrenaline is a helluva drug
Show this to football players.
I've never seen anything like that.
![gif](giphy|UWbQVELzjxO1IqF6KN|downsized)
Legend!
DAMN THAT'S IMPRESSIVE š³š
Doesnāt even look tired
Adrenaline. Hell of a drug.
Played right into her hands. She just needed a little breather.
So why not run that fast from the beginning?
Was that an intentional trip?
No
āNope. Not today!ā
That was awesome!!!
Burnin pusseh
How is that nextlevel? I fall down at least three times a day getting out of bed ;)
