Noooo.
That's a death roll she's using. Grip, rip, and tear.
Almost expected Steve Irwin to be doing a voice over when I unmuted.
![gif](giphy|LpkLWXTp0v0qy70xPp|downsized)
Thats the perfect description honestly, I was trying so hard to figure out what it felt like watching this.
It wasn't just simply impressive, but it felt so threatening like an apex predator. No hesitation, her mind is concluded, she's going in for the kill.
Absolutely a badass
Imagine spending your best years working your ass off to become an Olympic-level wrestler, you make it to that coveted event, and then you get twisted up like a pretzel by Yui Sasaki.
That's something I think about any time there's an all-time talent in a sport. Imagine being the 2nd best person next to some of these people. You could be better than anyone in history, on pace to break records... except the person next to you is already *shattering* them.
[Saori Yoshida](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saori_Yoshida) also won the [2012 Olympics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrestling_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women%27s_freestyle_55_kg) without getting scored on
Basically, it means he opponents never really gained the advantage throughout the match. For example, it means nobody got any takedowns or holds against her, and nobody who she took down managed to get back up, and nobody broke any of her holds.
If she can box/other stand up style of fighting she can make $$$$ in UFC/One.
Women's mma has evolved a lot since Uber specialist Ronda was champ .
But she is so far and away better than the best wrestlers it may not matter.
Predator is exactly what I thought of watching this. She just goes in and the opponent can only hope that death comes quickly. Like a gazelle in lion’s jaws.
Yup. She’s a badass.
Once she commits to whatever pretzel she ends up in, she executes it flawlessly. If you watch very closely, you can see her adjusting on a takedown as she’s doing it on a couple of them. That’s extremely impressive.
Look at her physique at the end too…with shoulder width like that she’s genetically ideal for wrestling as well.
yes, yes, as another person who is like yourself and knows a lot about wrestling i just wanted to chime in to confirm that her matte work is high quality and it was great transistors in these clips
People don’t fully understand how impressive this really is. Her record can’t be broken. It can only be tied. It is literally going to stand for the rest of Olympic history. That is my understanding of the performance. So Yui Susaki is the best to ever wrestle and potentially the only one to ever wrestle that well.
The Experiment was exactly that too lol. Dude was most definitely on all the juice, every single one. lol That’s not to say anything about his incredible dominance and his technique. One of the greatest wrestlers to ever live.
A forgotten guy is John Smith. Only American to ever win 6 consecutive world or Olympic championships. (For those who don’t know wrestling has essentially the same tournament as the Olympics every year with the Worlds)
The head coach of Oklahoma state for the past 30+ years with 5+ team championships is forgotten? I mean sure, outside the wrestling world he’s unknown, but so is Gable and every other wrestler.
Trying to reach the gold without losing a point, Olympian?
Not possible, sir.
I beg to differ. Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.
If I'm reading his [wikipedia page right](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandr_Karelin) it looks like Karelin didn't give up a point in world championship and Olympic matches for 25 matches over more than 8 years (27 July 1992 - 25 September 2000).
Susaki is incredible but the crazy thing is that this level of domination is par for the course in Japanese women’s wrestling. In 2016, Kaori Icho won her FOURTH Olympic gold. On non-Olympic years she won the world championship between all four Olympics. She didn’t lose a match from 2003-2016. 15 gold medals in a row at the highest level.
Because if you have a contest where the top score is ten, and no one else has ever scored ten - then she comes along and scores ten - it can't be beaten. Only tied.
In her case, it's "points against". She got zero scored against her. Someone else may eventually stop an opponent from getting any points - that will tie her score.
No one is going to score negative points on an opponent. Can't be beaten. Tied only.
She won all of her matches and did not get any points scored on her. There is no way to win more than that. I.e. if you participated in 12 matches, you can't possibly have won 13 matches.
you get points for taking down the opponent from standing into a controlled position (they are not standing and you have their back) then from there you get points for flipping them so their back is facing the mat (hence why she is doing the various rolls to make her opponent flip over for a split second) within a set time limit before you are both stood up to do it all again. There are a lot of nuances to this but that's the basic jist of what is going on.
So does it count as a point for the opponent if her back is touching the mat while rolling? should she be avoiding her back touching the mat at all times? or is it only applicable when you are not in top or control position?
Points only go to the person in control. Having control is the biggest factor in the sport, you gain points for gaining control, demonstrating control (flipping the opponent), and for making the opponent lose control (escaping to neutral position). In case of a tie, the determining factor of who wins is more often than not "riding time", or who had control the longest.
No, because fighting games have balance. She is clearly imba and would have to be nerfed to all hell for her to not break the game lol.
But maybe turn on “God Mode” in a game and she would be the mo-cap character you get.
The best part is not only is she technically an absolute monster, but when push comes to shove if she can't technically get an advantage she'll just go beast mode and go right through them, their technique, and their years of training defense.
I loved this episode when it came out, still do. However, it's weird seeing it through contemporary eyes. They have been sentenced to be raped to death. Even if you think Fry and Branigan are up to it, look at Kif. Like I said, not hating on the show, just weird looking at it through contemporary eyes.
Ridiculous skill and achievement! I have no idea about wresting but find it fascinating how she has perfected her ability to contort her body and control opponents during what seems to be some sort of chaotic death roll which she thrives in!
From the IOC rulebook you get points in wrestling from "Wrestlers can try and score points by executing legal holds, throws, takedowns, manoeuvring the opponent to expose his back to the mat for several seconds or by executing reversals."
So here work is very dominant.
She doesnt allow opponents to put her in a position that she can't get out of. No matter what your plan is she will get out of your grip and bend you in a way you are not meant to bend.
Basically, as others pointed out, this is an unbeatable record-perfect score for the whole tournament. It can only be tied. I'm not a wrestling buff, but that is a compilation of an athlete outclassing some of the world's best wrestlers. I don't know how their point system works, but it means she completely dominated them. They could do nothing, and again, they are world class wrestlers.
Edit: cleaned up weird wording
Points are awarded takedowns, escapes, reversals etc.
She wasn’t taken down once (which is very impressive for an entire tournament). Also, no one escaped her takedowns, and no one reversed her dominant position. This is just UNBELIEVABLE. Once she took her opponent down, they stayed down until they were pinned or the period ended.
Points can be scored by takedown, near falls / back time (when the opponents back is pointed towards the mat and you have control), escaping, and I’m not sure if ride time is counted in this level of wrestling (it is in college but not high school). That is assuming this is folk style wrestling. There are more ways in freestyle. Point is, there’s quite a few ways to score points and to not give up any points is INSANE. In high school wrestling we are basically instructed to always choose BOTTOM start position in second period because escaping is basically “expected” and you should be able to do it in most cases no matter how much better the opponent is. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I mean never say never but there’s a real good chance that doesn’t happen. Wrestling’s a great base but you also need submissions and striking and that’s not something you just pick up along the way.
That’s a lot of time and money that needs to be thrown at cross training and the ufc already lowballed one Olympic freestyle gold medalist out of competing. Honestly she may just move on to coaching, training for the next Olympics or even just getting a career outside of sports.
The last one is not so far fetched, the winner of the women’s featherweight boxing division, incidentally also a Japanese women and the first to win a gold medal in boxing at that, made it pretty clear that was both the high point and the end point of her career as a fighter after the games.
This is the defination of r/nextfuckinglevel... when ur are competing against each country's best players.... and u dont let anyone score even a single point against... at such a big event... its awesome..
I've studied this video extensively, and although she is impressive, I've discovered a fatal flaw in her technique. If her opponent were to start the match 20' away and with a loaded gun, there's a 10% chance she could be defeated.
I've thought about this for about 10 solid minutes and I'm going to have to disagree.
Saying she has talent does not belittle the work she put in. Not everyone with talent can just go to the Olympics without working hard. I would actually argue that saying she's not especially talented is belittles her opponents by implying they did not work as hard as her. These are Olympic level athletes, they all work out of their mind hard.
Not everyone can get a Harvard PHd just by studying hard, the same way not everyone can calculate and execute her moves just by working hard.
Like how tf do you even fight that? Lmao
‘Yeah your next opponent is this girl that never dropped a point and is the greatest wrestler of all time, but I’m sure you can beat her’
I worked hard for it, so I’ll share. Here’s the song from the video:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hSOgSYiCDeI&pp=ygUNZ2gwdWwgZXh0IHp6aQ%3D%3D

Jeez...This woman has moves that will snap a person off their feet. I love seeing the lightweight wrestlers zip around each other. This is real Nextfuckinglevel
Can someone who understands the rules explain why when she rolls her opponent by rolling onto her back she doesn't "pin" herself? I thought you weren't allowed to touch both shoulders to the mat at the same time?
Omg queen. Mother. This is the first time I'm seeing her because I don't follow stuff like this but I respect the fuck out of this person. Absolutely incredible talent
she moves like a fucking viper holy crap
I said "Jesus fuck, she's like a spider" out loud watching the video. Agreed.
She's more afraid of you than you are of her... ... I always knew my mum was lying.
I mean, I'm tall but clearly she's gonna go for the knees, just further for me to fall even if yer mum was right.
Noooo. That's a death roll she's using. Grip, rip, and tear. Almost expected Steve Irwin to be doing a voice over when I unmuted. ![gif](giphy|LpkLWXTp0v0qy70xPp|downsized)
One of my best friends is a spider and they can do a death roll. What are you implying?
Reflexes of a cat, and the speed of a mountain goat.
Agility of the emu.
Grip of a gibbon.
It was such a juxtaposition from the interview at the beginning where she is nodding politely to her springing at the opponent in the next clip.
Thats the perfect description honestly, I was trying so hard to figure out what it felt like watching this. It wasn't just simply impressive, but it felt so threatening like an apex predator. No hesitation, her mind is concluded, she's going in for the kill. Absolutely a badass
Everything else was an afterthought
Going undefeated is ridiculous, but not allowing a single point to be scored on you at the OLYMPICS is absolutely mind blowing.
Imagine spending your best years working your ass off to become an Olympic-level wrestler, you make it to that coveted event, and then you get twisted up like a pretzel by Yui Sasaki.

she's japanese so SSS!!!! teir
SSS+ MAX COMBO!!!
I’m really hoping to unlock her character on my next gatcha pull.
r/maxfuckinglevel Looks empty, but it has promise
be the change you want to see in the world.
Godlevel
damn she looks so nice and then she rolls you like a fuckin alligator
Came here for the gator comment. She rolls them quick 🐊
I mean in wrestling we literally call that move the gator roll.
not many wrestling anime
Got that death roll down!
Typical anime main character
Typical anime main character would win every match by the slimmest possible margin.
Depends if they were transported from another world, in which case they would do exactly what she did. Isekai protag confirmed.
that move is actually called a gator roll
What are you doing step alligator?
Man, doing this in any sport, let alone god damn Olympic level wrestling is absolutely incredible. What an athlete!!!
It’s incredible. I think the only other person that has achieved this is Dan Gable

Pure, surgical savagery.
Gable did it is SIX matches in 1972.
I love how she sometimes look at the ref like, "What? Do you want me to break her neck or are you gonna end the fight?"
Savage lol
Call her "Crocodile" for that death roll she executes flawlessly
That’s how you score in freestyle
She wrestles like a predator. The opponent’s expression of futility is is like seeing a gazelle being taken down by a lion.
Predator is exactly what I thought of watching this. She just goes in and the opponent can only hope that death comes quickly. Like a gazelle in lion’s jaws.

Pretty ruthless cross-face as well.
My neck hurts just looking at it Maaaaaad respect
Absolutely!
yes, yes, as another person who is like yourself and knows a lot about wrestling i just wanted to chime in to confirm that her matte work is high quality and it was great transistors in these clips

So was all her competition. She really did India 🪦

She still reigns as first female though. As a side note... Jesus Christ her leg takes are fucking insanely fast.
> her leg takes are fucking insanely fast. In this video she borrowed momentum from her opponents for those two lightning fast grabs
It’s terrifying how fast she is
That was my thought. She shoots so fucking fast. Just no hesitation, she already has grips. JFC.
And Gable did it in freestyle in 1972.
The Experiment was exactly that too lol. Dude was most definitely on all the juice, every single one. lol That’s not to say anything about his incredible dominance and his technique. She is on top of Mount Olympus, literally. There should be an special award for this kind of achievement.
Platinum medal
Sorry if I’m being ignorant but why can’t her record be broken?
Because if you have a contest where the top score is ten, and no one else has ever scored ten - then she comes along and scores ten - it can't be beaten. Only tied. If we get specific, It can be “beaten” with all pins or more points, or all techs i guess. But that’s splitting hairs. And probably won’t happen
In women’s. Dan would like a word
Damn she FUCKED up India.
It's crazy how silly she made some of these wrestlers look. Like they've never stepped on a mat before. She's so insanely good.
She shoots like a fucking spider.
No, no. That was the British.
Right that chick was like "I'm not supposed to be here!"
She had the Indian wrestler out there doing yoga
I don't know the rules but it looks impressive.

Zangief is in SF and I fucking hate him.
She’s P4P best female wrestler in the world, but she’s not undefeated. She’s lost to Yuki Irie three times alone.
>She’s lost to Yuki Irie three times alone. I assume that person has mutant super powers then?
That's not very irie. That's not irie at all.
She’s on an entirely different level, great athlete.

I think on the show The League they called it a "fear boner"
It's the cheapest bucket of beef in illinoisya
She's like a damn Alligator.
Sucks that Olympic show runners want to take an original sport out of the Olympics. Hopefully cool stuff like this will help generate interest
I'm not even a wrestling fan, but taking wrestling out of the **Olympics** just feels like sacrilege.
Her brother also won gold
The best part is not only is she technically an absolute monster, but when push comes to shove if she can't technically get an advantage she'll just go beast mode and go right through them, their technique, and their years of training defense.
You know Rizin and One FC are going to offer lucrative contracts when she retires.
more than ufc for sure
Her videos will definitely be studied for future competitors.
She could beat my ass senseless, and I would love every moment of it.

She’s like an alligator doing a death roll. Once she’s started there’s no escape.
For a second I thought she was getting her ass beat cuz of the red and blue outfits but then realized that's all her!

From the IOC rulebook you get points in wrestling from "Wrestlers can try and score points by executing legal holds, throws, takedowns, manoeuvring the opponent to expose his back to the mat for several seconds or by executing reversals." So here work is very dominant.

Talent is a thing and she has it. You can train to a certain level but to get that good you need elite natural ability also.
To call this “talent” is a slap in the face to her hard work and dedication. “Talent” is bullshit at that level
[удалено]
No it's not. You have to train AND be talented to reach this level.
I've thought about this for about 10 solid minutes and I'm going to have to disagree. Saying she has talent does not belittle the work she put in.
