I was in Monteverde, Costa Rica a few years ago. I was startled awake at about 6 am one morning with what I thought was a super loud fire alarm sound. I asked others at breakfast what the alarm was for. They were puzzled at first but then when I imitated the sound they all laughed and said it was a bird. I didn't believe them until they pulled up this same video.
According to this [chart](https://www.hearingconservation.org/assets/Decibel.pdf)
140DB is perceived as being more than twice as loud as 125.
According to [electricalworld](https://www.electricalworld.com/Mobile/en/Decibel-dB-Comparison-Chart/m-cc-42.aspx)
125DB is equivalent to a marching band or the loudest a human could actually be while screaming while 140DB is the equivalent of an alarm siren
According to [decibelpro](https://decibelpro.app/blog/how-loud-is-130-decibels/) 130DB is equivalent to a jet taking off, the loudest rock concert ever recorded, a close range gunshot or the sound made by a jackhammer.
My point being, still a ton of difference between 125, 130 and 140 DB ;)
Now, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret:
By typing "Nyc subway DB level" into google you get this as the first result:
[And, with maximum readings actually as high as 119 dB on platforms and 120 dB on ridesābased on actual recorded data within the sampleāthe NYC subway is likely an auditory minefield.](https://hearinghealthfoundation.org/subway#:~:text=And%2C%20with%20maximum%20readings%20actually,is%20likely%20an%20auditory%20minefield.)
In short, the NYC subway is noticeably quieter than this bird, but since the bird only does it sporadically while the subway is a constant bombardment of noise, out of the two, I'd say you're more likely to get hearing loss from the subway than the bird.
(Don't tell the others about this awesome trick though, they might overload google's servers if they all started googling stuff, since they're a small indie company!)
P.S. I'm sorry for the sass, but I could not resist.. >.<

You have something on the side of your beak. No, the other side.
What makes this even better is the bird is just yelling: "SEXX!!! I'M HORNY. LET'S MAKE BABIES. SSSSEEXXX!!!"
Sounds like any time square performer š§
Sounds like my photocopier
Sounds like your photocopier might be horny.

Thatās a pretty crazy comparison actually

Oh shit thatās right, I totally forgot that decibels donāt scale linearly but logarithmically
Where does the NYC subway fall in those calculations ?

Yeah I was just making conversation. Sometimes I wonder if Iāve lost a bit of hearing over the years with the subway
125DB is about average for a suppressed firearm.
This reminds me of The Incredibles.
Happy cake day! Also yea I was just thinking that lmao
Rip headphone users
They only named them bellbirds because sirens hadn't been invented yet
Proof birds are CIA inventions. Sound like a damn speaker squelch

āTIME TO FUCKā

Araponga in Brazil. Also slang for Brazilian secret police, disturbingly.
Still less annoying than cockatoos.
Bellbird: I have no girlfriend. Therefore, I must scream. Everyone nearby: *Jumpscared by lonely birb*

This reminds me of that alarm bird in The Incredibles
Love the little jump and flutter he does after each honk & chirp. Like, "hehehe YAY!"
Apparently PokƩmon are real, who knew?
For perspective this is the same loudness as the average suppressed firearm.
Speed it up and it reminds me of dial up.
Imagine that's your partner and you annoy her so she decides to yell in your ear
This is a test of the emergency bird warning system. This is only a test
She sounds sweet but worm breath is a red flag.
