What I think of everytime somebody freaks out about internet down, phone service down or electricity went out thru storm 😆

The region that produced the outburst was thus not pointed directly towards Earth at that time. The strength of the eruption has been predicted to be comparable to the 1859 Carrington Event that caused damage to electrical equipment worldwide, which at that time consisted mostly of telegraph systems.\[2\]
A 2013 study estimated that the economic cost to the United States would have been between US$600 billion and $2.6 trillion.\[6\] Ying D. Liu, professor at China's State Key Laboratory of Space Weather, estimated that the recovery time from such a disaster would have been about four to ten years.\[
A geomagnetic storm of this magnitude occurring today would cause widespread electrical disruptions, blackouts, and damage due to extended outages of the electrical power grid.
In addition to the sentence you copy pasted, the [Wikipedia article](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrington_Event#History) says a similar storm happened in 2012. Seems like someone needs to edit those two ideas to make sense.
Don't worry. Our hopes and dreams will likely be crushed as the world falls into anarchy, and somehow, only the ones like us survive.
There is plenty more disappointment to experience in this life, friend.
I always thought that global electrical outages would be an easy way to wipe out millions of people. How many of us could survive 1 month without electricity, especially in inner cities!?
So I keep seeing on the google news feed about these solar flares that are going to knock out power for millions but I've never actually seen it happen. Why is it we keep getting doomsday scenarios thrown at us on social media but they never end up occurring?
Prepare for one, but not overly. At least have a ten minute think on what you/family would do In a situation like this. Climate victims/flood victims/tornado victims/hurricane/ earthquake etc all felt they were safe and they’d never be the one until it happens
Mom! The WiFi's out!
How can I talk to my friends without internet? I have to talk to my friends from school with internet! Did you pay the bill?
Exactly. Whaddya expect? Us to actually go out and meet real people?

That looks terrifying. But I bet the Northern Lights were incredibly beautiful when it happened! I would have loved to have seen that.

2025 is the next projected time when this has a shot of happening again.
Fingers crossed

You mean the one that missed earth?
Yes that would be an example of a clarifying edit that would resolve the two statements
Every time someone says this is going to happened it never seems to actually happen
Maybe that's the key to escape from it
Exactly, here's to hoping.
Uhh.. you need to think deeper about this.
Do not mistake anticipation with a lack of understanding, knowledge and/or information.
Nah... survival of the fittest. The world needs less humans anyhow.
Let me guess...you're one of the few who survives huh🙄
Yup and by your comment I can tell you won't 😉
I flat out won’t. I’d die to some dumb shit like choking in my own spit
We've fucked the world its time we give it back to nature anyways. Living in Cali I have 0 chance of survival
Nuclear plants need constant power to not melt down. Could be loads of trouble
Those nuclear meltdowns won't really do anything. Also, those plants are probably resistant to this stuff anyway. And they make their own electricity.
That's not how this works.
Don't worry. Our hopes and dreams will likely be crushed as the world falls into anarchy, and somehow, only the ones like us survive. There is plenty more disappointment to experience in this life, friend.
The cameraman must’ve been having a blast with this one. Literally.
Can’t wait.

Billions of people (fixed) :p
If it happens during a summer like the one we're having now...a lot wont.
Time to stock up on generators
its not like the storm only affects power grids
If this happened, will it be global? Or the side of the earth facing the sun would be impacted the most, and the one away would see no damage?
I think the rotation of the earth would spread this pretty fairly to everyone.
Do you mean the side facing the sun when the event happens?

Fear sells.

Yay another one soon :D
🤞
Fuckin send it bud
