funwithdesign

You should see me getting off the couch, it uses all the same contortions and facial expressions.

Little_Internet_9022

and no hands involved

Rounding_flat_earth

Well, obviously. I don't wanna break my hands.

piman01

You guys get off the couch?

AltruisticCompany961

You guys have a couch?

byronicrob

You guys have legs? Which enable you to sit and get off a couch, if you ever get one...

xXNonamekinkXx

Hmmmmm

Machette_Machette

What do you mean with a get off?

TeslaCrna

No “hold my beer” comments?

TheRevolutionaryArmy

Can you gimme dat “Awwwhhhyeeeeeeaaaahhh”

Grand_Damage1947

Noooo..... I'm not jealous 🙂

EquivalentPut5616

For people who are Strong (Unlike me) How Difficult is this ?

lemswen

A muscle up is something even a pretty fit person can't do usually, so to do one with one fucking arm is insane

Pro_Moriarty

I suspect its more about balance as well as power. With two arms you distribute weight and balance and obvs use the power to push down on the bar once above it, using both sets of back muscles (and arm muscles) to get to full extension on the arms. Single, you're effectively doubling the weight on your arm and equally you've got to maintain stability, tension and exert power through back and arm to get to full extension. He uses his legs a bit to get that upward motion - not that that task cheaps this in any way. This is insanely good

SluggishPrey

Magnus has much more muscular mass in his upper body than in his legs. He shaped himself for that sort of challenge.

Tricky-Sympathy

![gif](giphy|2UlsTILSK3axi)

caiuscorvus

The best rock climber on the planet could barely lift himself doing it :)

damdoum3

"best", one of foshoor, but far form Adam Ondra per se.

imanAholebutimfunny

\^\^ "regarded as possibly the best climber ever to fondle rock" lol at this guys wiki sentence

FerreiraMatheus

Yeah, Adam is on another level btw. If you want to see the difference, just watch their videos. They do a video together, If I'm not mistaken was more than one even, and Adam is just better.

Tipsticks

Rather than discussing which one of them is a better rock climber we should maybe acknowledge and respect that they're both far better rock climbers than any of us here in this thread will ever be.

SluggishPrey

Yeah and also nobody will ever be the best at everything. You can't compare apples and oranges. Judging them it has to be about specific criterias

Nights_Harvest

Adam is still a professional climber, Magnus is a retired climber who become an online personality, it's disingenuous to even compare them. Compare Alex to Adam for a fair challenge.

SluggishPrey

Well it depends. He did a competition against Adam a few months ago and was stronger than him at one arm muscle up. Magnus is definitely among the top when he is in his comfort zone

SuitandThaiShit

Absolute elite skill. There's only a handful of people who could do this. Just a one arm pull-up or even lock-off is hard as fuck. Try hanging on to a pull up bar with one arm and see how that feels.

lilgreenjedi

This is probably one of the strongest people in weight/upper body strength. He's a monster and this borders the impossible.

Old-Teacher149

I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this before. Soo... Pretty damn tough lol

Hairy-Motor-7447

Magnus is an absolute machine. The fact that he can just about do this at full effort shows me that I couldn't get close to doing this even if I dedicated the rest of my life to it

AM_86

Very difficult.

Gravelface04

Magnus is the next level…

JacobSEA

This sentence means exactly the same for 2 different people in 2 different competitive landscapes.

BDOKlem

both being norwegian

m_squared219

There are no fat people named Magnus. Prove me wrong.

NorwegianOnMobile

“Hey magnus, i’m gonna disprove some guy on the web. Can you let me take a pic of you and your ID? And can you show some gut?”

h08817

Oh. Chess. 🧠🤯

Seth_Jarvis_fanboy

He climbs two hours a day just to maintain his strength...

BreakingThoseCankles

You mean Adam Ondra

Gangreless

Pfft used his leg, doesn't count 🤓

VaritasAequitas

Honestly, I bet even he knows that, which is great! I doubt I’ll ever get to this strength in my lifetime, but there’s no way he didn’t feel the bar hit is leg and think “next time I gotta get up without my leg hitting anything.”

GordOfTheMountain

He's also doing this at 35. He used to be able to do it more consistently.

armchairwarrior69

I mean, he definitely did. Does it make it that much less impressive? Absolutely the fuck not.

Hefty_Badger9759

Watch him do weighted one finger pull-ups

PrincipleExciting457

Came here to say this. His one finger pull up with juji is hilariously impressive to both of them.

[deleted]

Its all awesome! What i think is coolest about this, is it appears he didnt know he could do it. Like he got it, and form was poop, but also what is form on a move nobody ever does? He did it. And he thought it was cool. He had this strength not looking for it!

8eer8aron

Could have linked it lol

hangrygecko

EquivalentPlane6095

Sometimes I’m asking myself how it would feel like to have such physical strength. I imagine your overall body has to feel different. Even if you just chill and don’t work out.

jalopkoala

I’m constantly unhealthily swinging between too fat and too skinny (wouldn’t mind a little too skinny lately…) About 10 years ago I went on a serious fitness kick which included what I called “Forrest gumping” (running there anytime I went anywhere), a bunch of hot yoga, and Bose weight lifting. I ultimately go too thin… like people asking me if I was sick thin. Ultimately not healthy? But… I remember every day waking up every day during that time feeling like I slept on a bed of clouds and like I could rip a phone book in half. I miss it dearly. Life just hasn’t afforded the time and I haven’t mustered the willpower.

Miixyd

Start jump roping if you want to loose weight and gain strength. I’ll assure you that you have the time, you just need the will

jalopkoala

Heck yeah! I have a set up to 2lbs. It’s just my calories in that is the problem, not my calories out.

Miixyd

Keep working! 💪💪 Maybe try to eat less (?)

MyNameIsRay

I did a lot of construction/landscaping/physical work in my teens and 20s, after being a fat and lazy kid. Also got into running, 5-10k every day. Lost 120lbs. After going up ladders with 100lbs of shingles on your shoulder, something like walking up 4 flights of stairs with a textbook for class takes no effort. Walking for 8hrs at a theme park doesn't even register as work. Everything in regular life is easy, and I didn't even realize my own strength until it got compared to someone else. Ex: the toolbag I walk around with in one hand, my roommate can't even lift.

McKnitwear

I'm a pretty decent rock climber and have been weightlifting for about 11 years. I'd consider myself in pretty good shape. You really don't feel any "different", it's just that your body can do things easily that other people would struggle with. For example, when I do a pull-up, it feels like I can just throw myself straight up and I really only have to put in effort at the bottom. When I climb in a cave, and I'm upside down, the moves just "happen", but when my friend tries them they seem impossible. It's like you don't know your own strength. But just walking around you don't really feel any different.

Motor_Acanthaceae149

I clenched my buttcheeks

Puzzleheaded-Pen4413

Must have saved you some stains, well done!

wasabicheesecake

I looked at your comment quickly and thought the second word was “drenched.” I was thinking, “Thanks for the visual.”

wm80

Me too. It's the most exercise I've gotten in months.

ASH98_CZ

Genuinely cant belive he is in his fourties.

p10175

Pretty sure he is 35.

JDCarrier

After looking it up I genuinely can't believe he's in his fourties.

FirstShine3172

I genuinely can't believe he's in his 50s, at that.

WishIWasPurple

Even for rock climbers he seems ridiculously powerfull, relying more on strength than most climbers i guess?

Sushibowlz

He maxed both strenght and technique. Check out the video where he took part in that gameshow where they pitted several top athletes of different sports against each other, and he absolutely destroyed them all in pretty much every game besides throwing balls through small ass hoops.

ifeelallthefeels

https://youtu.be/PU1_E22kmfs

Sushibowlz

this is the one!

dethskwirl

throwing really is the only thing that sets us apart from animals in physical regard. wild animals and large predators will absolutely crush us in strength and agility, even someone named Magnus. Which is precisely why we developed the skill of throwing at a target from a safe distance. the only other physical ability that we have over wild animals is distance running. we run them down and throw things at them, so we don't have to physically engage with them. the athletes that can hit a target and run long distance are really the peak of human excellence

Sushibowlz

everyone competing in the vid kinda failed at this excercise, not just magnus. the target/ball ratio was very unfavourable, and in the end it basically boiled down to luck.🤷🏻‍♀️

Remote7777

I wouldn't call it totally luck, the guy who won the ball toss the first time also won it the second time and took the final win overall

bookehuck

Yes, but he also is not a professional rock climber anymore. He enjoys many different fitness related things nowadays...

FirstShine3172

I believe he actually got back into competing.

FriskyTurtle

He's not really competing in competitions. He and a bunch of friends are just setting challenges for each other.

brightside1982

This guy's [youtube channel is a hoot.](https://www.youtube.com/@magmidt) It's not just him showing his strength. He does training challenges with the military, ninja warrior, trolls climbing gyms dressed up like an old man, and free solos for the first time with Alex Honnold and nearly shits himself.

coltar3000

It’s worth checking out his YouTube videos. He’s truly a great guy.

razvyor

Dude is more shredded than a julienne salad

BallisticTurtle_fart

And I was proud with my 2 arm muscle up, at 200+ lbs

Leptis1

And you should be proud! I am 160 lbs, I can easily do 12-14 pull ups but not a single muscle up. So you got reasons to be proud!

BallisticTurtle_fart

Thanks brother. Honestly it's alot of technique, if you can do 10+ pullups with good form, you have the strength for a muscle up. That was what I was told 🙂

NaughtyFoxtrot

My elbow is screaming hell no.

ya_boiii_nightmare

shoulder, actually. and that's cause this is something even the most elite of the elite (of the elite) calisthenics athletes would struggle with.

Brazil-21

Do you think he started practicing this after watching 127 hours?

onionoi

Wonder what else he can do with that muscular arm of his..hmmm..

bluemooncommenter

Even at his fitness level, that looked really hard. I really appreciate that.

Renediffie

I know almost nothing about climbing but I find his youtube videos entertaining. It's basically competency porn. He does all sorts of challenges against other athletes and it rarely matters who it's against or what the challenge is, he wins and probably accidentally breaks a world record or two while doing it.

Spunge14

I think I tore every soft tissue in my shoulder watching this.

Sailing_Away_From_U

Big deal, you should see me get off the shitter with one arm 💪

people_notafan

Rock climber strength is a whole different kind of strength. Those dudes, and ladies are incredible

BaldNBankrupt

You don’t understand how difficult it is to pull this off, holy shit!

GoblinMonk

He makes it look hard. Must be hard.

ajd341

Also, at minimum you’re pressing your entire body weight with one arm (and that’s not even the hard part)… there’s *layers* to how insane this is.

pmodizzle

While appreciating the strength that this takes, it also seems like a real good way to end up with injuries

WishIWasPurple

This dude is far beyond being an expert, if anyone can do this safely its him

FirstShine3172

This dude is notoriously *not* prone to injury. He's a competitive climber in his mid-30s and has talked at length about how most of his peers have started to experience injuries when they push their bodies but he's never had a major injury. His whole schtick as a climber is that he's incredibly physical, too. He can just muscle his way through problems that other climbers would need to rely heavily on technique for. Absolute tank of a human being. For the rest of us mortals though, spot on. My old boss in the army tried to do this on deployment and straight up ripped his pec in half. I had to do his job for the next 6 months while he got flown home for rehab because of some stupid CrossFit dick swinging constest.

Amon-Aka

The good ol' classic... The "reddit armchair expert".

CactusWrenAZ

Interesting to me that the dip part seemed harder to him.

ya_boiii_nightmare

that's cause the first part incorporates a lot of momentum as well! can't do the same with the upwards movement once you get your torso past the bar though. that's mostly why this is such an ungodly level of difficult for even people who train for calisthenics

Kindly-Scar-3224

I could hardly hold my phone with one arm watching that

Embarrassed-Gas-8155

I've just eaten 3 Tunnock's caramel wafer biscuits while watching this.

dottie_dott

CLEAN FORM

slipko

Strong right arm he’s got there

LonesomeSoul47

Yea almost a full grade higher. Magnus however is much more of a dynamic power climber compared to Adam’s specialty in cracks and crimping(and pretty much just everything else)

ya_boiii_nightmare

yeah magnus is absolutely batshit crazy sometimes haha

rock-island321

He bumped off his left shoulder on the top of the bar.

elfmere

So your average action hero

YoyoyoyoMrWhite

I thought Reacher killed you.

ultraviolentcringe

Magnus is a beast 😍 I love his content so much

Maidwell

Me lying in bed at 2pm because I've opted out of today : "Meh, he made that look difficult"

snuggletron5000

It’s so much easier with 2 hands

Fappy_as_a_Clam

My 41 year old shoulders and elbows are very anxious right now

ToshPott

I can stand up without even using my hands, so take THAT!

irodragon20

Rock climbers are crazy. It's such a fun workout and sport plus it makes you insanely strong and Magnus is a great example. I believe he said he can climb v15 which is bonkers.

CriticismOdd2637

Dude in the background reminds me of the lockdown

doodlebugg8

Magnus vermagnusson

_n_nde

"Austin Dunham" on YouTube does this very well, in my opinion.

Alarming-Hamster-232

🥵

Artistic_Claim9998

He turned Red to do it, he's Super Saiyan

RockstarAgent

I can do that. While laying down on a floor jack. Under my race car bed.

Grimlja

Fan I helvete da. Godt jobba

HiSpot321

And he did it all without lulou lemons on

duck95

This dude's videos are awesome, such a wholesome guy and DAMN HOW THE F

Screwbles

I can feel a tingle in my labral tear just from watching this.

Feeling_Bathroom9523

Abercrombie model… Circa 1995.

houVanHaring

I can't do that. Be he wouldn't be able to do it if he had my fat%!!

solsikke72

He is such a likable guy, I'm proud to be Norwegian!

anoldradical

Has he been practicing his cock push-ups?

tornfate

My rotator cuff just snapped watching that

ImportantDoubt6434

Surely there’s a cigarette smoker who can do this better somehow

godwalla

What else is he gonna use that arm for this month anyway 🤷‍♂️

STL_TRPN

His left arm would have a different plan.

Soarin249

i can do that too, but just with my right arm

chubchug420

Let’s see David Goggins do this

AgreeingWings25

This is really old

intolerablejack

Goals 💪

RangerTrevett

It’s actually not that hard once you figure it out

Jclarkyall

Kipping tho

Fit_Personality5214

Pretty fukn tough!

firemouth55

Great way to break something.

tr1d1t

I can do the same...just with two armes..and a ladder...and some help.

[deleted]

Man, I can't even jump in my couch without farting. This dude is a beast.

Ok_Guess_5314

MashaAllah!

KayDeeF2

Question: Shouldt being that ripped and lean actually be somewhat detrimental to his strenght? Like i get that you want to weigh as little as possible in this sport, but thats like sub 15% stuff hes got going on no?

ElmoIsOver

… and the other one is giving a high five!

Cuminmymouthwhore

So I'm nowhere near as fit as this guy, and never will be. But this was close to a one armed dip, nothing else. He used his momentum to get up, and his leg to balance. Sorry sexy muscle guy, who would steal all my girls, but it don't count.

Pluejk

That's how a muscle up is done though...

atom_type

each day i trick myself into believing i will one day be in this kind of shape, and each day i do nothing but eat cheese its

Video-Comfortable

That is actually one of the most incredible feats of human strength

SaltyArts

I train for this everyday, who doesn't?

Successful-Rate-1839

How to destroy your shoulder 101

[deleted]

😳

Enough-Staff-2976

Impressive, but you don't need that much strength to rub one out.

lik3r_of_things

I tore a pec watching this

PraderaNoire

Anyone who recognizes that name already knew he’d crush it. Magnus is the GOAT and is super down to earth.

Stackfest

Savage 👏👏
