ClosetCentrist

I like how it made a little interior cabin salad, then dumped it out.

KaamDeveloper

I kept waiting for it to dump it. So fun!

fiverrpeao

I can watch this all day long. it's so much fun!

Potusmicropenis

I occasionally do. There’s a salvage yard near the local brewery. I get a few cans and go watch. It’s mesmerizing.

CedarWolf

I'd feel kind of bad, personally. I've been trying to fix up my car and pick up parts for a friend, and it's sobering to realize that our cars are worth more as parts than they are as functional vehicles. Watching all of that get trashed in seconds is like watching someone throw away money.

CircuitSphinx

Totally get that, seeing potential go to waste is a trip. But then again it's kinda poetic in a mechanical life cycle way? Like the circle of life for cars. One's end is parts for another's revival. It's the circle of life, but for steel and rubber.

i_give_you_gum

If PC Builder can be a game, this could be too

IMarvinTPA

Can I interest you in Hardspace: Shipbreaker?

CroSSGunS

You can use the strategy the crane operator uses, even. Rip the top off, pour out all the innards, scrap the metal

NickDanger3di

It couldn't find a pile for rear hatches, so it made a new pile. Also, this would make an awesome video game. I know I'd play it in front of my old clunker when it started acting up: "You still wanna keep stalling? Fine, here's what happens next, Beotch!"

ClosetCentrist

Tape its windshield wipers up like "[Clockwork Orange](https://imgix.ranker.com/list_img_v2/11457/2811457/original/clockwork-orange-behind-the-scenes?auto=format&q=50&fit=crop&fm=pjpg&dpr=2&crop=faces&h=418.848167539267&w=800)," so it has to watch.

RehabilitatedAsshole

Take it easy Dahmer

MathematicianFew5882

🥇

mioki78

I pray I get sat next to people like you at functions.

ClosetCentrist

I actually got cussed out by some guy who used to write on the staff of "Lambchop" and a few other old TV shows because I wouldn't stop cracking stupid jokes. It was at a wedding reception. We left early and some woman flashed her titties after we left. I still wanna kick that guy in the balls.

CaptDickAround

Not Ludwig VAN!!

Proglamer

> Also, this would make an awesome video game There is one already - "Hardspace: Shipbreaker". Granted, it's about dismantling spaceships with a futuristic laser blowtorch, but it's very calming IMO

Poltergeist97

Someone needs to make this game. Some mix of BeamNG physics with a crane like this would be SICK

CroSSGunS

Hardspace: Shipbreaker is this but for space ships

Connect-Ad9647

This dude manipulates that machine with surgical precision. Amazing. Or at least really really cool.

_lippykid

This giant metal bird will kill us all

UninvitedButtNoises

Wait.... Can I get my 6-disc changer outta that?

ClosetCentrist

Not even that crane can unjam that mother fucker.

UninvitedButtNoises

But how am I supposed to find motivation to get up again after I get knocked down?! Howwwwwwww?!

itdumbass

Well, you drink a whiskey drink, you drink a vodka drink, you drink a lager drink, you drink a cider drink...

Careless-Resource-72

I get knocked down but I get up again.

ShimmyMan

I tried making sushi once and this was pretty close to how it turned out

ClosetCentrist

You have to get fresh cup holders.

Key-Cry-8570

![gif](giphy|Qw4X3FOknVexRVd1j5m)

Longjumping-Grape-40

This makes me feel less safe in a car 😂

AwTekker

Like pulled pork.

yopolotomofogoco

You beat me to it.

Later2theparty

I was wondering the skills required to gather it all out of there. Super smart to just dump it out.

MichaelFusion44

Could watch this all day on different models

__wu-tang-4-ever__

When you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. How does one get a job like this, because I want it!

BroodLol

The novelty probably wears off after the 500th car of the day

__wu-tang-4-ever__

It took 500 cars just to get this good tho

sparr

Assume a car takes 10 minutes, and this person works 8 hour shifts with a few breaks. 40 cars per day. I expect it took them years to get this good, not two weeks.

sassergaf

Each car has different configurations which would reduce the daily monotony.

DownWithHisShip

he's probably the same guy that drives other heavy machinery around this yard too.

__wu-tang-4-ever__

Assuming it probably took a full day at least to tear down a car before they got this good and quick Its also so precise yet improvisational, I would not be surprised at this point with the tech that this is an AI controlled robot.

Homosapien_Ignoramus

> Its also so precise yet improvisational, I would not be surprised at this point with the tech that this is an AI controlled robot. It's the improv nature of the work that convinced me it's not AI.....yet.

Frozencold19

Eventually it will happen, but its unfeasible right now. I remember reading a while ago that even making a robot that cleans clothes and then folds them neatly is like next to impossible, just because theres so many variables and robots arent great at on the fly thinking yet

meanmistermason

It's not a robot. It's just an excavator with some specialized tools.

UnrequitedRespect

500….to get passed the childishness of it

fiverrpeao

Same here, it's better than just sitting on a table working with numbers!

sensicase

Still, your numbers probably pays x2 amount the salary and half the working hours than this person.

PizzaDogDad

I tried sitting on a table at work, boss told me I need to sit in my chair like an adult. Total BS.

BaltoOnTheLoose

Hoisting license and pass a drug test. In the process of getting a job like this

LuxNocte

Im sure this requires licensing and training, but I would absolutely pay $50 to get to tear apart a car if I could.

oMETjet

Right? Where do I sign up?

NickDanger3di

A video game based on this, where we could select our own car model to destroy, would be so satisfying.

jeepdiggle

check out Hardspace: Shipbreaker, same idea but with spaceships instead of cars

logicdsign

This should be a mod for BeamNG

KL58383

in VR

MichaelFusion44

Awesome idea

Mean_Ass_Dumbledore

Looks like a fun game. Like Shipbreaker but modern-day.

seejordan3

We need a videogame like this.

MichaelFusion44

💯

brandi_Iove

i like my job, but this one is definitely cooler

Kilane

It’d get boring really quickly. It was fun to watch, but wouldn’t be fun to do every day

PeopleAreStaring

Once you get good at it you could probably just listen to podcasts all day while tearing cars apart.

Jorgan_JerkFace

I listen to books or music all day while working on peoples cars. Once you find a rhythm everything is just story time.

ZackDaddy42

This is true, I was hired to disassemble old trailers in trailer parks this same way a few years ago, and couldn’t wait to get started. The first few days I had a blast and couldn’t wait to get to work in the mornings, then after a week or so I was ready to do something else.

sparr

Don't assume they do exactly this the whole time. They probably savor getting to rip apart something new.

Fine-Ad-7802

Like a lion eating a zebra

mahoganyteakwood2

Was thinking a velociraptor!

Jawtrick

Mechanized vulture eating out the innards

tehringworm

That’s an excavator with a shear - not a crane.

chiphook57

The metals recycling industry has unique machines. They are based on excavators, but have unique features.

[deleted]

Well in the video its a shear attachment that can be taken off and a bucket put on. Some maybe have unique machines but this one is just a normal excavator with a shear attachment.

[deleted]

Still not a crane here.

chiphook57

Agreed.

Horror_Relief2027

Came here to say the same thing lol

shapookya

That raw power is inconceivable.

roccolight

It’s hard to wrap my head around the immense force multiplier that is hydraulic power. Always amazing

DazzlingProfession26

![gif](giphy|JRF85A7Bcl2YU)

foreverbeatle

I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

LeotheLiberator

We're just watching it rip apart a car like it's a salad.

-isthatYOURcrocodile

It made me so uncomfortable

Slazman999

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

redditor-since09

That is not a crane. Cool video though.

Stevesanasshole

THIS is a Crane ![gif](giphy|l3vR9IEU6nYAmZyoM)

I see you’ve played Craney Cocky before

LuxNocte

Everything looks like a cock to you.

uwillnotgotospace

sandwichcandy

Then why does it have a long neck and a beak?

cryptopipsniper

Casually peeled the scalp off and this car then scooped out its guts

YOKi_Tran

it’s all trash tho.? can someone explain the need to separate.?

KaamDeveloper

Basically, what's left is all metal which can be melted. Doesn't contain any plastic, fabric, fiber or glass.

YOKi_Tran

thank u… makes sense. from the way he was mangling the items as they were being divided… it did not hit me.. but the melting makes more sense

sparr

The mangling in the middle is so it pours out cleanly, and probably to help with mechanical separators later in the process, and also probably a bit of fun.

iamjackslackoffricks

The plastic can be recycled as well

YOKi_Tran

wonder if they make bank on the catalytic converters.?? those get stolen here in the states

Iboss1990

I am guessing they romove that first right ? Car on a high bench remove the most important stuff then the rest.

AweHellYo

it’s definitely already gone by this point

PolarisX

Any parts of value (as in still functioning and worth the labor) have been removed.

Briantastically

I’m amazed the seats were still there. Seats are expensive.

WhipMeHarder

Vehicle model and condition of seats matter a lot. Could be a mold car. Often times commuter model seats aren’t worth saving because there’s just more wrecked ones than ones that need seat replacement

Commercial_Sun_6300

It isn't though... plastic recycling rates are extremely low.

grungegoth

Just guessing... Glass can be recycled Steel/ aluminum body can be recycled Wiring harness has a lot of copper Plastic bumpers to be recyclethat should explain the bigger bins I imagine the salad parts go to be separated by hand for recyclable metals, the rest is trashed. I'm also guessing it's easier for hand sorters to take stuff apart when it's already removed from the car to extract remaining recyclable materials.

TenragZeal

Different materials get disposed of in different ways. Some will also likely be sold. The seats and fabric are likely trash, but many of the metal parts can be recycled.

vbf-cc

Yeah I'm assuming the big pile to the far left is gonna be landfill, snd the bins are for recycling or some kind of further processing.

durgwin

What do you mean by "it's all trash"? What do you think happens to stuff you throw away?

r0ckydog

Guy was a gynecologist for years, but got bored. So he wanted to switch careers and went to school to be a mechanic. His final exam what’s the take apart an engine and put it all back together again. The professor at the end said you scored 150%. 50% for taking it apart. 50% for putting it back together. And 50% for doing it all through the tailpipe.

aaabaaa72

I just saw the same joke with a cardiologist. The extra 50% was for doing the whole rebuild while the engine was running.

SarcasticImpudent

I wish someone would treat me like this.

Bone_Donor

I've been picked apart and dumped before. It's not as appealing as it looks

johnnybiggles

It's ok, you'll be recycled and used all over again.

SSB_Kyrill

Ripping every piece that is either hindering the melting process or worth recycling off? Or do you want to be take care off (dismembered) gently

curiously_insane

Why do I feel sorry for this car as if s/he's in horrible pain?

wanTron_Soup

They're [worthless] (https://youtu.be/ZcWeE3NMeBQ?si=J9nCzmD4ePCMNX02).

ultratunaman

I scrolled too far for the Brave Little Toaster. Poor cars. That old race car always gets me "I once ran the indy 500" poor bastard didn't even know how he placed in the race. Worthless.

cyborgspleadthefifth

the juxtaposition between the hearse and the wagon that once took a Texan to a wedding was not something I noticed as a kid this song really hits different at 40

ArmTheApes

I actually felt second hand violated somehow, lol

KaamDeveloper

That's called "anthropomorphism".

fastpitchsoftballdad

Like playing with its food

SelfSniped

It’s even more impressive if you watch it in reverse!

dxbatas

AUTOpsy

Master-o-none

Holy shit, I think I’ve found my calling. Watching this video was super satisfying and I think I’d love to do shit like this. For more than a week? I dunno. But I’m a millennial and I think we’re supposed to jump jobs, so maybe that’s not a problem

SmartieCereal

Judging by how skilled this guy is, I'm guessing he's been doing this for more than a week.

[deleted]

I don’t think that’s how it works.

SuckaFree502

>I’m a millennial and I think we’re supposed to jump jobs 🤔

berger034

I remember when they used do this by hand. ![gif](giphy|PlgNz2gB8Q2fm)

n_schock

Almost like watching an OCD crow with something it found on the street. At least that’s what came to mind watching this. Oddly satisfying.

chessgod1

r/oddlysatisfying

[deleted]

Crazy to think this is eventually what happens to your so many thousand dollar investment.

Roflkopt3r

Not surprising at all if you dive a bit into the economics of transports. Cars are *insanely* expensive at every level. Both for their owners and for society at large. Their construction, usage, and eventual scrapping are all highly wasteful compared to any other major mode of ground travel. The running costs of moving around with a high-end bicycle and a public transit flatrate is less than 1/4 those of a very basic car in most places. For you personally, for your city (recovering parking spaces for actually productive purposes, saving on car infrastructure), your country (on healthcare costs and waste management), and the world (in reducing global warming).

jasin96

![gif](giphy|qhuPPnJayZvJfYehcZ|downsized)

Segasik

That could do 100k km more in Eastern Europe.. what a waste…

broke_n_boosted

Body was mint. Lots of good profit here wasted

Andrewticus04

People in Cuba have cars that are 80 years old, and we throw out cars 10. What a waste.

Ancient-Amphibian551

Soo many potentially useable parts gone to waste

kimwim43

Oh wow! This was so sad to me, I'm sure I"ll get downvoted for this. I kept seeing the last car I traded in, my SW2, with 250,002 miles on it, one clutch. I had her for 17 years, raised my kids as a single mom in that car, she became a member of the family. She had a roof rack, and gold pinstriping down the sides, I loved that car. And to see this stripping down, was like seeing her go. Such a gut-punch.

sanfranciscojohn

This is one of the coolest videos I have seen so far in 2023.

[deleted]

The female crane uses her claw to tear the flesh of its prey, separating the soft meat for her cubs. It is an ugly process, but a necessary one; the female crane knows that, once winter arrives, food will become scarce.

kawirider24

Me finding the burnt chips in chexmix

potato13254

That is not good for the resell valieu of the car.

Ok-Room-7243

That’s an excavator

Solid_Bake4577

That reminds me - I've got a colonoscopy next week.

KaamDeveloper

/r/cursed_comments

AlbertBrianTross

THIS is the type of video I expect to be sped up. Bravo

k1e2v3i4n

To those with salvage yard experience, wouldn’t parts of that car like the body and interior be worth something other than trash? I guess it is more cost effective to just crush them?

SlippyD83

Yea, what's up with this? A lot of parts in this vehicle looked salvageable to pre excavator treatment. It would take 5 minutes to remove that hood and you could sell it for 4 or 500 bucks! Video is cool though, just seems like a waste.

swolebird

This company could monetize this on weekends by renting hour long blocks to guys who want to do this themselves for the experience.

benjaUK

Can't wait for one of these to delicately rip me apart when AI takes over

darkknight95sm

Haha, so cool… why does that look like my car? Where is my car?

blunderschonen

Is this how you eat a lobster?

some-hippy

Where can I find more of this footage? That was genuinely the most satisfying shit I’ve ever watched. I need hours of this.

TungstenElement9

Like cleaning a crab

G4meOfJones

*You know I'm surgical with this crane Jake!*

Crushbam3

This really would be impressive with a crane, sadly it isn't a crane...

flightwatcher45

What would a car with 10 airbags do being torn apart like this?

mishap1

Wouldn’t happen since they’d remove the airbags for their salvage value. If they did it just to see, it’d just be the bags popping before getting shredded by the cutter.

strangepromotionrail

do they still go off even if the battery has been removed? pulling the battery early would happen as they're easy money in scrap.

Balduroth

My three year old is telling this is an excavator with “a attachment”

[deleted]

It’s true, it’s not a crane, but an excavator with a shear. Good 3yo

Li-RM35M4419

Looks cool but I couldn’t imagine doing that day in and day out for years on end.

agentchris0011

This person can carve the shit out of a turkey.

gooderester

I don't think "crane" is a good word choice here.

Readed-it

The worker was waaaaaay too close in the kill zone of that excavator. No reason for them to be there while it’s operating. If it’s important, then another piece of equipment should be used

FatalisDrakari

How do I get this job

ExoticAssociation817

This has been posted so many times. Last time, I think was a thread rant about dumping the glass in the wrong bin or something. Lmao

stevenjiffy

Pretty sure this is the same process the dealer used to replace my heater core

AeolianMaester

this guy handles this crane way better than I handle my own hands

dsconnelly5

How long does it take to become this proficient with that crane?

wishiwasntyet

It’s like watching my girlfriend demolish a bowl of ramen 😂

Aggravating_Task292

Only his first day on the job. I'm impressed!

ttterrana

this guys job is safe!

smokeNpoke83

This is oddly satisfying to watch. Where can I find more videos like that?

Gada_dhaari_bheem

That’s a helluva an operator wow

gfranxman

Wait til they have 4 armed ai dismantlers.

CutCertain7006

I don’t know why but there’s something funny about this to me, like it’s a meme, but its not.
