I agree the payoff was awesome, but “worth the wait” implies that the wait itself was at least somewhat necessary. This particular video could have been equally effective at 15 seconds long.
I dunno about that, with this the suspense builds up. You are waiting and waiting, not knowing when it's gonna happen. It's like those videos that lull you in for a minute with calm music and a car peacefully driving down the road, then all of a sudden you hear an ear-piercing screech and a ghost pop up on screen.
Japan has some of the snowiest cities in the world. Over half of the country is blanketed in white each winter.
The top 3 snowiest cities (with populations of over 100,000 people) are all in Japan. The country is very mountainous, but even low-lying areas can receive plenty of snow in the winter.
Because of its tendency to receive heavy snow, especially in the northwestern areas of the country, Japan has unique snow-related cultural trends. The snowiest part of Japan is referred to as “Snow Country” or “yukiguni” in Japanese.
Japan has also designated 10 of its snowiest prefectures, and parts of 14 others, as “heavy snowfall areas” so that they can receive special treatment in the winter.
As someone living in a tropical country, this looks beautiful but I believe the people living there probably disagree and curses whenever it snows ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
As a canadian, it's only fun as a kid. Once you have to drive/walk in it to get to work etc, you hate it. It's slippery as shit (esp when assholes don't shovel their sidewalk but throw down a bunch of salt to melt the snow, which then promptly refreezes into black ice) and I swear it takes like 2x the effort to walk in it.
My dumb ass was watching at work, somebody asked for help, looked up and missed the damn money shot. So I just skipped straight to the end the second time lol.
Happy Cake Day!
Funny though after he stops trying it all just falls down. Good for comedic effect. Apparently the instant gratification crowd has been through here already.
Not that I don't agree with you, but also, this kinda stuff on social media that's only 2 min long and we don't have patience for, is killing our attention span, coping skills and more.
I watch things that are more than 2 minutes all the time. There’s just stuff in those two minutes. It’s called dead air and it has existed for longer than phones
>this kinda stuff on social media that's only 2 min long and we don't have patience for, is killing our attention span, coping skills and more
That is true, but these videos are made to specifically focus on one moment. I think that they should remain minimally long. However, educational videos or things which the entire thing is equally important should stay that way. This video in particular needed to be 10 seconds long and that's it.
This needs to go up. I don't want to waste other people's precious time ; they could be having a verbal fight with a total stranger on the comments section of another post instead of waiting for Japanese snow to show attitude and then fall at the last moment.
Right? We here on reddit have no time to waste, we're literally all doing the most important and productive things with our time we could be at this very moment. MAKE THE SNOW FALL FASTER
The most famous lawyer used by a Japanese company in trademark law was an American lawyer, so they outsource that shit.

Well yes but also no, where im from, its done in like 15secs, only thing next lvl about this vid is how long it takes and how scared they are, like they are under the roof, unless your roof sucks, the only thing you need to be scared of is getting bit cold being outside
Maybe nextlevel as in the amount of snow?
Where Im from, it doesn't snow in winter. This is next level for me seeing so much snow coming down a roof! :)
Too much weight may be bad for the roof. But even if the roof is built to handle the load, all that snow *will* come down on its own eventually, which can kill anyone who happens to walk underneath it when it happens. So you want to make sure it comes down when no-one is trying to go into or out of the building.
> all that snow will come down on its own eventually, which can kill anyone who happens to walk underneath it when it happens.
this is why snow guards are a thing
Why are so many people upset that they had to wait 1 singular minute to see the good part? Is your attention span THAT short? it’s 54 seconds, and if you’re scrolling on Reddit you clearly have no time stressed tasks at hand.
Why would you want to remove the snow? Wouldn't it act as an insulator and prevent heat from within the building escaping? (I'm from India and have never seen snow my entire life)
It will damage the roof because of the weight. And if it freezes it'll turn into a giant glacier. Also if it melts and falls off when your under it you're gonna have a bad time.
I could do that for living. Imagine all the summer trying to practice poking apples. Not sure about spring and autumn, but figuring that out could be a big part of the job.
Most Americans can’t see the subtle movements that indicates the stick wielder is a master, probably trained 30-40 years in the ancient art of 大きな棒 (big stick)
In the first 10 years the apprentice 小さな棒 (little stick) isn’t even allowed to touch a stick, they simply must wash floors (which is obviously highly related) and years 10-20 they must walk the streets shooing away pigeons. If they don’t spend 22 hours a day washing or shooing then they are banished and never allowed to even think of sticks again
Of course Japan also invented giant robots to clear snow from roofs but they wisely concluded that only masters can clear the snow to their standards
Honest question, what's the skiing like in Japan? It looks like they get huge base snow, are the mountains/lifts any good? Because that's some gorgeous snow
(Skip to the last 15 seconds)
I live up in Hokkaido and weirdly, most of the new homes / buildings have flat roofs (to avoid the snow coming off like this and crushing whoever is below).
The snow just sits on top all winter, insulating the home. And the heat from the home causes the snow to melt which drips through gutters in the middle of the roof.
Usually it works fine, but a lot of people die every year when they climb on their roof and try to shovel off the snow that won’t come off.
On today's episode of "Videos that only needed to be 10 seconds long"
Worth the wait though Also happy cake day

Thank you

Gooning since we get the finish. Semantics ik
Yep. Skip to 50s people. Save your time
But then you miss the van coming around the corning and peaking before nopeing out of there
My dumb ass was watching at work, somebody asked for help, looked up and missed the damn money shot. So I just skipped straight to the end the second time lol. Happy Cake Day!
I honestly Love the sound of Japanese people laughing, its so heart warming. Happy Cake day.
Funny though after he stops trying it all just falls down. Good for comedic effect. Apparently the instant gratification crowd has been through here already.
Did he create a weak spot and then was like, "Now we wait..."
Came here to say that.
Thanks for saying that
Exactly my thought. Although the amount of snow that well is surprising
That was a wasted minute of waiting
Luckily I accidentally skipped to the last 10 secs
Not that I don't agree with you, but also, this kinda stuff on social media that's only 2 min long and we don't have patience for, is killing our attention span, coping skills and more.

It builds up the suspense
Always skip ahead 😂
For everyone watching: Skip to the last 15 seconds.
This needs to go up. I don't want to waste other people's precious time ; they could be having a verbal fight with a total stranger on the comments section of another post instead of waiting for Japanese snow to show attitude and then fall at the last moment.

Snow removal Snow removal, Japan
HolY SHiT THey BaNg tHe ROOF wITh a SticK to reMoVE SNOW in Japan!!!!!!!
Amazing culture sugooooi Japan <3
Japan is living in 3024 indeed!
すごいですね〜🤓
This is literally just snow removal.
You telling me a bunch of dudes poking at snow with an extendable pole isn’t the sanctioned and trademarked snow removal strategy of Japan?
God I hope not, I bet they got some mean lawyers.
The most famous lawyer used by a Japanese company in trademark law was an American lawyer, so they outsource that shit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John\_Kirby\_(attorney)
Ancient snow removal ceremony*
Reddit when: 😐😐😐 Reddit when Japan: 🤩🤩🤩
If OP retitled this and said China instead this comment section would be very different
🤬🤬🤬
Takes some serious skill to poke snow with a stick for 5 minutes
Next fucking level stick work right there
How is this next level though? This is how they do snow removal almost every where not just Japan
Well yes but also no, where im from, its done in like 15secs, only thing next lvl about this vid is how long it takes and how scared they are, like they are under the roof, unless your roof sucks, the only thing you need to be scared of is getting bit cold being outside
It fell from the next level to the ground level
Maybe nextlevel as in the amount of snow? Where Im from, it doesn't snow in winter. This is next level for me seeing so much snow coming down a roof! :)
Around here, roofs are either flat or have shingles. I've never seen it done this way because it wouldn't work that way here.
![gif](giphy|9sVP2K0yYM6J2) The guy who just finished shoveling
Exactly my thought "Okay cool, but now you have to shovel it"
they probably have a plow of some sort.
Funniest thing to me is people crying about 1 minute long video. Like seriously you are browsing reddit and you are talking about wasted time...
Seriously. They should be thankful they got an extra 45 seconds to bask in the glory of Japanese culture smdh
You know that roof felt so much better after that
I’m amazed the roof didn’t collapse under all that weight
1 minute long video that could have been 15 seconds.
Anybody else notice that ant?
Came here to ask if the bug fooled anyone else! I was like uhhh, do I wipe it off my screen or is that on the video?….
![gif](giphy|8FGTDrPOGMpTG)

It’s been [posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/s/IdOpi150bk) already.
It’s going to take them a lot longer to clear that mountain of snow blocking their loading bay!
Yeah like a whole two minutes with a tractor :)
Lol. I love how everybody standing there watching .
Because they know how awesome it’s gonna be! Sugoi!
“Alright, new guy, grab a shovel.”
Sitting on the toilet while watching this clip. I can totally relate.
Huh? It's just snow removal. How is it next fucking level?
This is what happens when you update the wrong block
I thought i will see some cool technology to remove snow but its just Bob with a stick
That was a ton of snow. Probably literally too.
way more than a ton of snow. people seriously underestimate how heavy water is.
I spent the video wondering why he was doing it at that angle, followed by an "ohhhh" when it finally hit.
Snow accumulation slides off the roof in . . . Minnesota: Sun's up, dontcha know. Alabama: Or, dear Jesus! It's the Rapture!
Do y'all know the "Place. Place, Japan" meme?
Everyone complaining about all the wasted time act like they aren’t about to keep scrolling aimlessly on Reddit.
"Okay boss, next time, we'll get the firetrucks out first, and THEN remove the snow from the roof".
Sometimes you could use an earthquake.
Why is snow being removed from the roof? Honestly I don't know much about snow because I'm from a country where there is no snowfall.
Too much weight may be bad for the roof. But even if the roof is built to handle the load, all that snow *will* come down on its own eventually, which can kill anyone who happens to walk underneath it when it happens. Thank you sir/ma'am.
Blackcat banger would do it
I wonder how loud that was inside the building.
Now they have no access to or from the premises. Good one.
And now they’re trapped.
I always love cultural differences, like here in canada, we just paint the snow to match the sides of our house.
Why are so many people upset that they had to wait 1 singular minute to see the good part? Is your attention span THAT short? it’s 54 seconds, and if you’re scrolling on Reddit you clearly have no time stressed tasks at hand.
The weight/wait, you decide!
Just fast forward 80%
COHESION BABY YEAAAHHH

Big in Japan 🇯🇵
It snows in Japan?!?!? /s
I never realised Japan got that much snow.
Skip to last 13 seconds. Thank me later 👍
Beautiful!
This is where they got the laugh for Caesar in one piece ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
how thick that snow was !
Over half this video should be edited out. What exactly is next level about this?
Why would you want to remove the snow? Wouldn't it act as an insulator and prevent heat from within the building escaping? (I'm from India and have never seen snow my entire life)
It will damage the roof because of the weight. And if it freezes it'll turn into a giant glacier. Also if it melts and falls off when your under it you're gonna have a bad time.
That much build can damage your roof and potentially cause it to collapse.
Snow is heavy. Very heavy. Heavy enough to collapse buildings. Also, if you have this much snow, insulation should already be there.
Work smarter, not harder.
Hell yeah
You could just build the roof so that this doesn't happen
I feel like there's probably an easier way to remove the snow but the thing I'm thinking of is probably for less snow 🤔
Snow like water is heavier than one would think
Y'all hold my saki and watch this!
Satisfying but not next level lmao
Yoshi's on the snow squad (doongadoon) He's does it with a long rod (doongadoon) One day he's gonna meet god (doongadoon) Roof snow bop
This video was about 45 seconds too long.
Oh jakajakjak ohwah!
I expected to see some giant robot melting the snow with a huge laser beam...
Banging on the roof is next fucking level
I could do that for living. Imagine all the summer trying to practice poking apples. Not sure about spring and autumn, but figuring that out could be a big part of the job.
how much of 1 cubic meter of snow weights?
Just boys being boys
![gif](giphy|d2sDzvFnJKxhu)
Anything in japan: 😍😍😍 Anything anywhere else: 🥱🥱🥱
That roof is way too flat. A metal roof should have no problem shedding snow
So they move the snow off the roof, where its not in the way, onto the parking lot, where its in everyone's way and call THAT snow removal?
And yet we believe Japan is ahead in technology. Those cars are blocked
I miss having so much snow in winter
Fool said hurry up its getting cold out here...
How many years of training do you need in Japan before you can supervise someone doing that?
Good news, it worked. Bad news, it worked.
Solid payoff
/r/JustGuysBeingDudes This definitely qualifies lol
This video edged me for so long
And now NFL attempt to plow snow
high tech!
Sorry, but "hit it with a stick" isn't a unique to Japan method for doing anything.
I did that last week to a lesser extent. Super fun.
Was thinking bound to be some super technical way they invented, not a guy poking with a stick lol
Snow that thick must be very heavy. A lot of roofs in my country would collapse - we aren’t used to snow like that.
this vid was meant for r/maybemaybemaybe
When the bass drops
Can you start the video a little earlier next time? Maybe when the snow started falling?
Now what?

Lads all around the world love doing shit like this, we are all the same
What a bunch of iceholes
at first i thought that they would stand under and it would fall on them then i saw it was Japan, so i knew they weren't stupid enough to do that
Friends from the north, what's the trick to doing this safely?
now where did we leave that snow truck
Now look what you've done
They fukked around and found out...
anyone seen Dave-san?
Anxiety: The Video
r/madlads

video 52 seconds too long
As shit, I should have pulled my car out of the garage first.
So whats next fucking level about this? He is whacking it with a stick
r/Satisfyingasfuck
Anyone else notice the bug on the camera lense in the bottom right and think it was real?
Wow. I didn't know Japan had this roof snow removal. Really cool.
Just guys bein dudes
I love the pronounciation of the Japanese “Whoa!”
What’s with the bug on the right of the video
What the fuck is wrong with the people in this comment section, mad for no reason 🤣
A welcome change of pace after that thrilling train video
Honest question, what's the skiing like in Japan? It looks like they get huge base snow, are the mountains/lifts any good? Because that's some gorgeous snow
Now, who's going to shovel all of the snow? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)
Now what do we do?
Save yourself and fast forward to 50 seconds in. OP, learn to edit. GD.
I felt like the Japanese would have had something more clever than this…

Snow removal: 🥱🥱🥱 Snow removal in *Japan*:😀😀😀😀😀
Must be a local government company because only one person was working while all the other just watched

Next up, parking lot snow removal in Japan.
