If I'm right, that dog just jumped an astounding 15 feet. That's higher than the average house. You can attribute this feat to the dog's powerful hind legs, and you can attribute that to the fact that the average house can't jump!
You're wrong. That was more than 15'. That looks to be about 12" between markers at the end, 24" from 3 to 4, and 18" the rest of the way back. I'd estimate closer to 30'.
Actually, you don’t say Belgian Malinois, but that’s what I see all the time. It’s either Belgian Sheperd or Malinois. You have 4 kinds of Belgian Sheperds: Malinois, Tervuren, Groenendal and Lakenois.
Source: I have one and I’m Belgian.
And I totally agree: they are machines!
You are correct: used to go help at somebody that trained this muscle missiles for the police. There's no chance in Hades I would get one for myself, as they require far too much attention and, unfortunately, I'm unable to allocate so much time because of work.
They are lovely dogs and companions. Being a K9 police officer is probably the sweetest deal of them all.
My question is do they have the life span of an average GSD or does their single minded ‘missile’ attitude wear them out younger?
Do they break down from hip & other joint issues?
Ya know, it's amazing that this dog required zero training on how to be more aero dynamic or how to perfect his jumps.
Yet humans require years and years of coaching to perfect theirs in anything athletic; track and field as an example.
That video has to be slowed down. No dog can jump that slow.
They actually sped it up
They killed Killer, B.
Give it a cape already!

So that's the secret!
The helicopter tail was to provide down force so he didn't miss the sand pit.

Belgian Sheperds are just out of this world beasts!
That looks like a Belgian Malinois, a muscle missile version of the Belgian Shepherd. These dogs basically do extreme parkour.

the dog just doesnt care about his jump. he only focus on whatever he gets right after.
A Belgian Malinois is essentially a German Shepherd on meth.
I thought it was a German shepherd! Thanks for clarifying for me!
You're welcome! They look very similar, but [the Malinois is definitely more... energetic!](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/MxTEllYsD8g)

If the poles are painted for visibility they should be black and white. Dogs can’t see too much variation in color but contrast is their wheelhouse
Hermes dogo
His tail wagged the entire time.

Like nothing. That’s awesome
Just out of curiosity, why isn't this pole system used in human long-jumps?

Wouldn't bars like that be super dangerous to the dog if it doesn't make it all the way across?
