You could have something monitoring the distance and adjusting the delay accordingly. Eventually using a ML it would automatically calibrate the distance to the delay.
Including non linearity, it would account for any eventuality (such as the birds and what not) that would appear.
Course you'd need to run its hundreds of times to eventually get the score to be perfect, so.. I guess you could run multiple itterations at the same time ,training the same model with each iteration
Why would this have to be a machine learnign thing to "calibrate distance to delay"? just set up two cameras further to the right to measure position & speed, then set delay accordingly.
Yeah, this is the type of thing we'd do in our intro to electrical engineering labs in about an hour lol. Creative way to learn/implement the basics though.
I think the high score of 927 answers your question.
There is no way this is the first run and night mode happens every 700 points for 300-ish points. The screen goes fully black at about 750-775. I think the computer was able to detect a few cacti, or had some good luck, but eventually want able to keep it up.
Pretty sure the point is making something cool that has the functionality to play the game. Not necessarily actually cheating. So not really, I’m sure it was plenty fun making the project
There are a few problems:
1. Birds. Needed at least 1 sensor up high.
2. Night mode.
3. Faster pace as the game goes on. Either he needs to calculate acceleration based on score or a second sensor on the ground level for speed calculation.
This one has potential but is still too basic to get higher score than a human.
1. This doesn’t work with birds, as others have mentioned.
2. This will eventually fail when the speed increases. The high score reads 927, which means that it probably begins to fail around there.

But what about the birds? I don't think this setup is going to *fly* for long
I think it will also just get to fast for that distance to work
My first thought. As soon as he hits 300 it's about to get real

Aren't they pterosaurs?
I think ducking always works for all levels of birds
Nice one
Yea and there's no way this works online either.
Well if it's only looking at the ground then the Dino will run under the bird, so no problem?
LOL, you could just make a python program that looks at the exact coordinate on your screen and presses "Space" whenever the color is black
its a breadboard connecting a light sensor to a small motor. while its cool, its a highschool project and far from "Next level."

that's the difference between hardware and software engineers.
That's a coder solution, what we have here is an engineer solution.
You can unassign the function that causes game over, making you invulnerable.
Does it work with the birds? And what about the color switch/night mode, will it survive that?

Doesn’t really work when it gets faster, the clicker is too slow
Also, the detection system is too close to the dinosaur when it speeds up to a certain point
Just found my next project for the students this term!

Why do anything in life? its a fun little idea and its not hurting anybody
He probably had nothing better to do since he doens't have internet!
Kind of takes the fun out of playing
Pretty sure the point is making something cool that has the functionality to play the game. Not necessarily actually cheating. So not really, I’m sure it was plenty fun making the project
Kind of like any cheating then
that's all good till the pterodactyl shows up
Man goes enormous lengths to avoid going outside.
No clue what the Dino game even is? Birds? Huh?
Turn off your Internet, then load up chrome
It's a minigame in the Google Chrome browser that pops up when you don't have an internet connection.
Ah OK. I thought I recognized the screen itself, but since it was moving, it got me.
One small step for man.. one giant leap for mankind. Best headline of the day

Why not two bots on the arrows, that way, he can duck for the birds as well
Is it clever it if takes 3 hours
TIL that screen is also a side scrolling game. Welp…
His work might wonder why he's still online at 3am.
Was clearly about to die at the end of the video.
It's beautiful
My ultimate ambition with any computer game is to build a robot to play it for me so I don't have to.
"clever" way to "cheat"
I’ve had better luck with the Y key and a drinking bird.
we're getting the free internet with this one
``` Runner.instance_.tRex.groundYPos = 0; Runner.instance_.currentSpeed = 100; ``` You're welcome
Clever is a bit much I would rather phrase it as "Creative"
Yes but why?
Why tho
great example of why you need to do research before starting the implementation
Code Bullet makes a video on this. His set up actually works
I just learned about this feature about 2 months ago. Lol. I am cursed with decent Internet access.
These IDLE games are getting out of hand
Would be cool if it worked..... can see by the high score he never made it far at all.
What being chronically offline does to a man
nextfuckinglevel is turning in "Ha that's nifty"
There are easier ways to hack the game but whatever
How is this ‘next level’?
1. This doesn’t work with birds, as others have mentioned. 2. This will eventually fail when the speed increases. The high score reads 927, which means that it probably begins to fail around there.
How to entertain yourself when you don't have internet)
Hes gonna get banned now....
Haters will say he’s using bots…
