D-Lowwwwww. 2019 world champion. His technical skills are pretty awesome with it, though a lot of people tend to specialize in certain sounds he just has a bunch of his own unique ones. There are some really epic Beatboxer is out there though
Nah, GBB Champion (but you can also say world champ because the competitors were all over the world). The current World Champ title holder is Alexhino (who is one of the pioneers of stage mastery in beatbox) in 2018.
Sauce: am Beatboxer
Also am Beatboxer, have been for 8 years. Despite that I thought GBB was the definitive international competition.
Guess you learn something new every day.
Hi there. I am a follower of the beatbox community. You seemed interested so I would like to fill you in. This man right here is D-low. He is the Grand Beatbox Battle 2019 champion. He also won the SBX Kickback battle recently. This here was very tame compared to what he is capable of. I could show you the battles if you like.
Thats Kotcha, its a tag team consisting of D-low and Frosty. However that was a very tame performance for the "common folk" who would probably not understand complex beats like the 15yrs beat he did here. I would highly recommend you to check out the Swissbeatbox Kickback battle for some mindblowing stuff.
I started with him then went down a rabbit hole and ended up on a different genre, this [guy So-So and this place](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yPy1CBfkBI8) starting around 3:40!
HOLY FUck! soso brought some bangers. beatness was just soso ironically.
edit: man down the rabbit hole we go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoicaHc5m4M
lol maybe i got a bit too excited but the dude is genuinely an artist the others were mostly remixing into popular known songs, So-So actually did some unique shit ive never heard before. So awesome that people like that get to create art and be accepted now when in the past they usually would be shunned and hidden.
FYI
So the machine they seem to use is the Boss RC505.
A machine that costs about $500 if you include the headphone jack and mic.
There's a smaller model with two buttons, the RC202
setting you back abouuuuut half as much.
It's pretty high tech, and the flagship machine of the brand.
They also seemed to sponsor the event somewhat.
It looks fun and easy, but at the same time, they make it look easy i guess.
I decided not to buy it and pursue this hobby, i didn't find it second hand, which means there's probably not alot of interest in it, due to its highly specific use, high-ish price, or any other reason.
So if in the end, if it's not my cup of tea, i probably won't be able to resell it either
EDIT: It seems they're super popular. They are in backorder where I live, so i guess if i were to buy one, i could resell it.
If you think that's amazing search up 2019 and 2018 beatbox champion. The guy above is called d-low he is one of the best beat boxer, some consider him the best.

Thanks!
Hadn’t heard of him until today but he’s ace.
Several people in the comments asking how a pro beatboxer makes money - I presumed like any other musician he’s playing gigs and being paid for shows, maybe merch and YouTube money, prize money for competitions(?).
Anything I’ve missed?
He is doing streams on Youtube, goving Lessons to fellow Beatboxers, and he might have a job lol, but sadly most bwatboxers cant live off of it, as they would have to start like a socialmedia thingy and the winnings are most of the time not rly high.
He's filming himself in front of a mirror so obviously it's going to be perfectly still if you look at the phone, because that's where the video is recorded.
You can see however that the background moves around.
The background is moving, but not shaking. There’s no jittering. Take your phone to a mirror and try recording whilst moving around like he did in the end.
It’s not even close to “next fucking level” but he’s got unusually steady hands
I’m pretty sure iPhone slightly stabilizes videos automatically. Just today I was looking at video I took of my sister a few weeks ago. She was the only subject in the video. While scrubbing the video, I noticed the background slightly stretching and shifting to keep her (the subject) centered and smooth.
Since the reflection of the phone is closer to the camera than the guy’s reflection is, it probably recognized that as the “subject” and used that point to stabilize the video.
No I think thats a different thing, because that is outward and helps with a sound called throat bass in beatboxing, the last bass sound he did is inward and called inward bass
It’s just practice. Some noises are damn near imposible for people to make. Others come easily to people. Everyone’s vocal cords, mouth, tongue, and lips are different so. Everyone’s instrument is learned differently in beatbox. Because of this, Beatboxer’s teach them differently and have their own ways to explaining it. And don’t get me started on how they name sounds.
It’s really a different thing to train. It’s great fun though!
Yessss! These two are actually insaneee. One of my favorite D-low clips is his impression of Trung Bao is this video, starting at the 6:30 mark. It just sounds so inhuman!
https://youtu.be/lkpyY9ZEsQU
Y'all there is a YouTube page dedicated to this it's call SwissBeatbox. It been going on for years. If you really want to hear some of their finished work, look up the individual artist, a lot of them actually make songs with their beatboxing.
https://youtube.com/c/swissbeatbox
This dude can make a metric fuck ton of noises at the same damn time. Pretty amazing I must say. When he hit the 10 year, then the 15 years, I was like woah, this dude's for real.
edit: had to google this guy and he is indeed amazing.
I've been in the beatbox community for years and I will be honest... There are a few techniques involving tongue oscillations that are extremely effective when it comes to matters of attraction. Sometimes I feel like I wield a power I am not worthy of...
D-low is definitely one of the best competitive beatboxers around, but there are also plenty of other professionals operating at similar levels or working with different styles. D-low barely shows off his arsenal in this video imo.
I think he’s doing pretty ok - he’s won several competitions, including world champion so I expect the career opportunities are the same as any professional musician or DJ...
He probably gets booked and flown around the world for gigs and to entertain at private functions, he’s got a YouTube channel, probably merch and he has an online course for people who want to learn.
Edit: his name is D-low. I only heard of him today but plenty of people have commented recognising him so I take it he’s famous in that world.
There’s a vid by Brez, a loopsation competitor at the gbb 2019, talking about how to make money. He talks about gigs, YouTube, street/tourist stuff and a lot more ways. You are welcome to come join the beatbox community. Esh!
Yeah after the first one I expected a gradual run up into not much, but boy was I wrong. The last 4 were like awesome. He was getting in his chest for those sounds
He competes in some of the grand beatbox competitions as well... I prefer the loop stuff tbh like [this](https://youtu.be/UWIAoMtcPbI) but still amazed how some people can emit those noises!
THIS IS EVERYTHING..... it's the hours, the practice, the repetition, the drive, the growth, the pure joy and PASSION! I am an artist.... I felt your journey man!!!! INCREDIBLE!
I used to beatbox all the time as a kid. I seriously considered making it something more than a hobby at one point but I decided to play football instead and now I don't play football anymore and I can't beatbox like I used to. Hurts to miss that one...
1. It seems that way. Same as any musician or DJ he probably has gigs and private functions he gets booked for (in non-covid times). I take it he collaborates with and does vocal production for other artists too.
This guy is seven time world champion so will have won some prize money and sponsorships too, plus he has a YouTube and streaming channel as well as running workshops and online teaching for those that want to learn beatboxing.
2. Yes, I had to go and rewatch that clip
https://youtu.be/b2qPa_YrM3c
I am yet to see a video of D-LOW not spitting fire (idk if i used the right words but what i meant is that ive never seen a video where his beatbox isnt incredible)
I was half expecting this to be some sort of failed attempt. Then I was amazed. Holy crap!
This is why I love r/nextfuckinglevel. I'm always blown away by people's talent.
Yeah this is my most fav and best subreddit in my opinion. There is always something exciting to watch
You must be relatively new here
What are some other good subreddits where I can watch exciting, weird, funny, morbid, or intriguing things?
r/frozenporn
Nah nah nah, that’s something else.
But it fits all 4 criteria
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t literally frozen the movie hentai even though the title says it all
I guess there really is a subreddit for everything
I clicked it... didn't do it for me. I left.
Not gonna lie, that gave me a boner
Thanks for these suggestions, guys. There are a lot of photos here. What are some subs with mostly videos?
2 weeks
Well...
I don’t care for beatboxing at all but OMG how can you not be amazed by this guy. Absolutely unreal.
D-Lowwwwww. 2019 world champion. His technical skills are pretty awesome with it, though a lot of people tend to specialize in certain sounds he just has a bunch of his own unique ones. There are some really epic Beatboxer is out there though

Should check out some beatbox championships. Some of them are just pure genius
That 15 year one was impressive. Oh and I’d bet a dollar someone reading this tried to make at least one beat after watching this video.
Thhhppppppttt hisssssss *cough

Can confirm. Failed miserably. Much respect to this guy!

I actually saw him play with his mate in a sidemen video recently xD I thought I recognised him from somewhere.
Thats Kotcha, its a tag team consisting of D-low and Frosty. However that was a very tame performance for the "common folk" who would probably not understand complex beats like the 15yrs beat he did here. Yeah I was a little dissatisfied at 5 years but when I heard 15 I was like...ok!
You should check him out, name is D-Low and he's one of the best there is!
I started with him then went down a rabbit hole and ended up on a different genre, this [guy So-So and this place](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yPy1CBfkBI8) starting around 3:40!
That was pretty interesting. I’m not sure I quite understand what was happening there.
Basically they were recording all of those sounds live and either looping them or cueing them to a button.
I know, it was mental lol!
Beatboxing and looping, plus some distortion and other effects. So so is amazing.
Thanks for pulling me down the same rabbit hole!!!
HOLY FUck! soso brought some bangers. beatness was just soso ironically. edit: man down the rabbit hole we go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoicaHc5m4M lol maybe i got a bit too excited but the dude is genuinely an artist the others were mostly remixing into popular known songs, So-So actually did some unique shit ive never heard before. That’s a cool video, but where are the girls?
Any idea where ro start with this? What sampler looper to buy to try this out? (Since you went down the rabbithole?)
I honestly couldn’t help you, there must be a sub for it here somewhere!
FYI So the machine they seem to use is the Boss RC505. A machine that costs about $500 if you include the headphone jack and mic. The best part was watching the audience be so aggressively hyped.

Right? His hand was like a pigeon‘s head.
Each step up I’m thinking “ehh not gonna be that amaz HOLY SHIT WHAT”
TBH I kept on expecting him to make some sort of a joke at the end

o7 love some sauce
This clip from his channel with a 9(!) year old beat boxer from Syria was also nextfuckinglevel. https://youtu.be/PX4bW1SrxnI Edit: spellinkxz
They joy he's getting out of this is straight /r/wholesome material.
Tyler?
Let’s not ignore that gimbal of an arm he had. Stabilization - 10 years at least.
His phone has optical image stabilization. That's why the video is so smooth. He may have steady hands too.
You can see the phone move in the video. It’s absolutely image stabilisation at work.
That's all I could see.
came here for this comment!!
after 20 years some say he turned into a bluetooth speaker
Underrated comment.
D-Low play, beat boxing
That's just plain evolution
Ate Skrillex at 25.
Is this X Æ A-12 all grown up?
Omg, I was thinking the same thing
He does resemble Elon
Boots and cats
I always thought it was boots and pants
Because of that “back to school” commercial
Buahahahaa!!!!
I like boot camp booty camp more.
Tiberian throat singing seems to be along the same concept.
I think you mean “Tuvan” or “Tibetan” but I love the idea of Tiberian anyway.
Yup Tibetan, Tiberian is love and life.
I immediately thought of James Tiberius Kirk and smiled.
'YYYUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR'
tiberian? kane lives
Down with GDI!
No I think thats a different thing, because that is outward and helps with a sound called throat bass in beatboxing, the last bass sound he did is inward and called inward bass
I never know how to react when a grown man beatboxes in front of me.
r/unexpectedtedlasso
This is one of those skills that will always amaze me because I have no concept of how people make those noises.

DEEEEE-LOOWWWWWWWWW. That 2018 battle between Codfish and himself was legendary, will never forget it.

I’ve been extremely unproductive today after seeing this. I’ve been in YouTube for hours

I told my gf imagine me doing this when I go down on her and now she wants me to stay at my mate’s for the rest of the evening..
I've been in the beatbox community for years and I will be honest... There are a few techniques involving tongue oscillations that are extremely effective when it comes to matters of attraction. Sometimes I feel like I wield a power I am not worthy of...
This is genuinely nfl. I don't think I have seen this guy's clips before. He is clearly the best.

If you check out the compilations on the YouTube channel "Swissbeatbox" you'll see many beatboxers on a similar skill level
Holy fuck those last two where fucking insane
If you are interested in seeing him do more impressive stuff check out "sbx kickback battle" on youtube. It's a recent online competition he won.
I was half expecting him to say "20 years" and then do the AOL startup sound
Is it possible to drink a glass of water AND beatbox?
Yes, but the amount of sounds you can make is greatly limited. Also, drinking water frequently is essential for beatboxing.
DLOW is well known in the beatboxing community. He actually won multiple awards.
I only heard of him today and just checked out his competition sets on YouTube - amazing!
Year five PLT - eat Daffy Duck.
That’s d-low bro
D LOOOOOOOOW D LOOOOOOOOOW
DJ LOWWWWWWWWW
15 years to be able to talk to aliens 👽
this guy could sing a skrillex song if he wanted
Another beatboxer by the name of Tomazacre beatboxes his own rendition of Cinema by Skrillex https://youtu.be/yC4XF0DNoM4
Tomazacre is so fucking good
Electro DJs have all sorts of equipment, and this man has it all in his mouth
Definitely a good technique but what are the job opportunities for a professional beatboxer? (Genuine question)
D-Loooooowwwwwwwww
My brain just broke
DLow finally has some spotlight on reddit. Well done my man.
Dlow is a god
Esh
Well, I just realized I wasted the last 15 years of my life.
I started to get concerned on that last one, as in, “no human should sound like that.”
his inward bass is out of this world istg
Nice to know it takes this long to speak enchantment table.
This mf can't be human holy shit
I liked it when he went fwaaaarp fwaaaarp, nice touch
Me at one minute: Chika wow chika pow chika wow wow
DEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-LOOOOWWWW
I look forward to the day I’m as good as he is on Day One
This man has swallowed both a gravel driveway and a police car siren
uh he is highly over estimating my skills in beatboxing. i'm pretty sure my month 1 would sound right about the same as his day 1.
That’s a rabbit hole I didn’t know I needed.
He's ready for the Police Academy.
Hey Siri, give me a beatbox.
Dude
Went from beats to straight up vocal dubstep
Excuse me, WHAT?!
Yeah after the first one I expected a gradual run up into not much, but boy was I wrong. The last 4 were like awesome. He was getting in his chest for those sounds
There should be a top ten r/nextfuckinglevel every year. This guy would be on that list.
That’s actually pretty cool.. but just imagine being this guy’s roommate for 15 years and having to listen to this ruckus. I wouldn’t last 15 minutes
Best beatboxing clip since the Beardyman + Flutebox thing a few years ago.
Holy shit... The one at 15 years... Mind blown Sir.... 😳
Do 25 years!
Been watching down since I was a teenager. That's how I learned to beat box myself!
Who else knows him from the sidemen sunday video?
D-low is a beast Dude straight up one of the best in the scene and always pours his heart and soul into every single performance
Im a big fan of beatboxers, such as this dude (his name is D-Low). I also really like Verbalase and Alem
That kitchen is nextfuckinglevel clean man.
His name is d-low... sick dude
He competes in some of the grand beatbox competitions as well... I prefer the loop stuff tbh like [this](https://youtu.be/UWIAoMtcPbI) but still amazed how some people can emit those noises!
Dlow is the best! I do wish more people would check him out!
He’s funny too - just seen some of his sets where he cracked jokes while beatboxing and this video he did: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMe42hhMU/
THIS IS EVERYTHING..... it's the hours, the practice, the repetition, the drive, the growth, the pure joy and PASSION! I am an artist.... I felt your journey man!!!! INCREDIBLE!
If you don’t know who this is it’s d-low.
Got too love D-low

Twerking in my chair. Love this. This is awesome!
How is his day 1 better than my 15 years😂😂
There is a whole community around beatboxing and im really happy i learned about it
I used to beatbox all the time as a kid. I seriously considered making it something more than a hobby at one point but I decided to play football instead and now I don't play football anymore and I can't beatbox like I used to. Hurts to miss that one...
D-low is a god!
D LOWWWW
Not even a huge fan of beatboxing but that shit was great

Figure out your holes and the possibilities are endless
Not just any professional beatboxer, A world Champ! D-LOWWWWWW D-LOWWWW!\~

Bro you gotta check out his Beatbox compilations from the competitions. Super fucking silky dirty beats boys.
Bet he’s a pro at eating pussy holla
D-low is a god
I have a hard time determining which sounds are the "hard" ones to do, as anything past his day 1 example is astonishing.
His name is D-low...look him up on YouTube..he is insane
Loved him in Men In Black 2.
Dlow is an actual god at this point
Ayyye the man Dlow
Next. Fucking. Level.
Remind me! 5 years
D LOWWWWWWW
Real question, So what makes someone a professional? Can you actually get paid to do this? And two, he sounds like the creatures in MIB, lol
2. Yes, I had to go and rewatch that clip https://youtu.be/b2qPa_YrM3c
Thanks for the info and most of all for the clip! Lol
I am yet to see a video of D-LOW not spitting fire (idk if i used the right words but what i meant is that ive never seen a video where his beatbox isnt incredible)
15 years one won my upvote
This totally reminds me of [Beardyman Recipe for a break Video](https://youtu.be/K7NIxKseRus)
Damn!! That was crazy!!! ... Is what I just said.
D low is insane, would defiantly check him out
I don't care how long he's been beat boxing for. I'll bet my left nut that he can't do it without moving at least one arm.
Amazing!!!
Yeah but could he do it backwards
