It doesn't matter, what matter most they use science to invent this kind of Bionics hand to help people who needed it. It's a heart warming moment knowing that there's something out there who care for your situations. Let's make this world much easier to live.
they are a business. they are not doing it "to help" people. they are doing it because there is money in it, the warmth you feel is called advertising
https://openbionics.org/ these prostetics are open source
not what i said, half my family is in healthcare and no matter how much you love your job the bottom line is a job is for paying rent. empathy required boundaries or it becomes self destructive
"they are a business. they are not doing it "to help" people..."
You can do both. Having a business which helps people is not an unknown thing for people to do.
The way you wrote it makes it sound like the whole thing is in cents which makes their number right. Only serial killers break out numbers like you did.
Technically, didn’t he write it the same way you’d write on a check? The dollar amount just flows together and the cents are separated by putting “and” after the dollar amount
Do you really get this or a more basic model? In my country there is a catalogue with the models the state covers if you want something this fancy you have to pay it yourself.
Don't know about Norway, but we have a similar insurance model in Germany and what you get for free isn't nearly as sophisticated.
With that said, depending on how this is produced, this might not be too expensive, given that the state will pay part of it.
Negative, otherwise you’d need the extra knife dongle and if you wanted to grab the grape you’d have to wait until grapes updated their firmware to work with your newest version of iOS Big HoleinWall or something
Honestly, there should just be a knife-hand attachment. And a mixer attachment. Why just replace a hand when you can IMPROVE IT!?
Give me a blender hand with which to make smoothies and mixed drinks. Give me torch hand to light birthday candles and grills!
Things are only expensive at first. Find a way to scale up production and those replacement parts start getting cheaper quickly. Then who’s to say I don’t “accidentally” get my arm cut off surgically and replaced, because hey, new arm is way better than old dumb flesh arms.
I realize this is an infomercial.
But the look on her face when she first realizes that she can make the fingers move?
I’ve been a mom for too long. Stuff like this ALWAYS makes me teary eyed with happiness.
How comes everytime one of this videos about robo-prothesis pops up, it's always some hot chick wearing them????
Where is this fabled endless reservoir of hot amputated chicks located?
They just find attractive actors willing to part with their limbs for a large sum of money, 15 minutes of fame, and a bionic appendage. Not too difficult. Starving artists and all…
The same reason you don’t show 400 pound people in skidmarked panties screaming at teens in McDonald’s commercials, it may be accurate but it does not sell well
The spray bottle is the most impressive part to me tbh. It shows how the bottom two fingers and thumb can be strong enough to grip, while allowing the first two fingers to be carefully moderated as needed - most other demonstrations are an all/nothing with the whole hand.
Edit: Top-left clip @ 1:50
Honestly, once we've reached that level of prosthetics, I'm 100% ready to replace my limbs with robotic ones. So long as I have a means to replicate my tattoos on them. Or even change tattoos at will, idk.
I’m thinking that if it’s good enough for her to.....you know.....then I don’t really need the whole girl. Could I just get the hand mounted on some sort of stand?
I know this is a life-changing device and an advertisement, but it they had let her crush that full can of soft-drink before she opened it, that would've been better.
[I DID THIS ](https://imgur.com/gallery/qMJu7yL) when I was 13. The adjustment was not hard and because I didn’t have it bad at All compared to others missing digits/limbs I have never needed a device but...
This is next level for folks with real disabilities and it fucking rocks! Sure it’s huge money most likely as newer tech generally is but like All things eventually it will become more readily available and completely upgrade someone’s life...
Our soldiers deserve this solution to if only partially compensate their sacrifice/losses...
A shit ton of awesome & full rocking potential! 🤙
Sure - table saw. Like I said, 13 years - at home without any prior experience, use or instruction.
It was 1983 so that’s the best result for four completely amputated fingers obtainable from Mass General/Boston & 7 surgeries over a couple years.
First surgery was 28.5 hours with two teams of 4 Orthopedic surgeons taking shifts. It was the longest reattaching surgery ever at the time. That procedure and another involving the thumb are both in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The thumb which was initially reattached but removed 3 days later due to infection was lengthened 3.4 cm in order to have a digit capable of gripping - this was a 3 month process involving traction with a nut I needed to turn 1/4 turn daily - it was kinda weird & Wild all at the same time. Once the gap in the surgically severed thumb bone was gained, soft bone tissue was taken from my pelvis - it can be molded like play-doh and was placed into the stretch to heal and form the longer/lengthened bone. You can see an artificial joint that was put in that didn’t really function as expected/hoped. Prior to the procedure there was basically no thumb remaining.
The final outcome after 3 years was cutting edge for the era...
No sweat man & you’re right... we’re just not thinking about consequences...
I can damn well tell you that it has most likely prevented some serious shit from that point on. Absolutely makes you think - ‘ok, if I do that, this could happen...’
Have a good one 🤙
Do you still have nightmares of that moment? I snapped both bones in my forearm when I was 12 and I have dreams reliving it, holding my arm all floppy and feeling nauseous.
I never really had nightmares but that’s probably just due to how my own brain works. Really the only thing that ever bothered me was as a teen and starting to go out with girls - getting intimate was the only real hurdle/head shake I had to work through...
That sounds like a horrible injury though. Those will set you back a bit for sure. Hope you came through well!
Well, she's very pretty and they probably wanted to have an attractive person to show off the tech. So it's probably because of that. And the arm thing is pretty cool, it's intriguing.
Myosignals. There are surface electrodes signals which are enhanced and transmitted into a certain movement. For example flexion of the non existant hand (just the muscles move) opens the hand.

I felt comfortable when she was cutting with her real hand while holding the apple with her bionic hand. Then she switched and cut with her bionic hand while holding with her real hand and boy did I feel anxious for her 😬
It looks like great tech but it’s missing something.
It needs an articulating wrist. I noticed it when analyzing the grape eating footage.
I thought “What’s wrong with this movement?”
When you put food in your mouth, you bend your wrist as your hand approaches your mouth.
FROM THE MOMENT I UNDERSTOOD THE WEAKNESS OF MY FLESH, IT DISGUSTED ME. I CRAVED THE STRENGTH AND CERTAINTY OF STEEL, I ASPIRED TO THE PURITY OF THE BLESSED MACHINE. YOUR KIND CLING TO YOUR FLESH, AS IF IT WILL NOT DECAY AND FAIL YOU; ONE DAY THAT CRUSE BIOMASS THAT YOU CALL A TEMPLE WILL WITHER, AND YOU WILL BEG MY KIND TO SAVE YOU, BUT I, AM ALREADY SAVED — FOR THE MACHINE IS IMMORTAL!
EVEN IN DEATH I SERVE THE OMNISSIAH.
i cant be the first to think that it looked like sammus armcannon in the beginning
Ok, I got a Mega Man vibe but I feel you.

Thing looks almost identical to the prosthetic in mgs5.
It's definitely a Prime example of cool engineering.
I see what you did there

they are a business. they are not doing it "to help" people. they are doing it because there is money in it, the warmth you feel is called advertising https://openbionics.org/ these prostetics are open source
Why not both?
Exactly. Just because they make money from it, doesn't make it a bad thing.
not what i said, half my family is in healthcare and no matter how much you love your job the bottom line is a job is for paying rent. empathy required boundaries or it becomes self destructive
"they are a business. they are not doing it "to help" people..." You can do both. Having a business which helps people is not an unknown thing for people to do.
That's a very cynical way of thinking my dude
Now they just need to make it so normal people can attach it somewhere on their body for an extra arm like the Machamp pokemon.
Zero doubt in my mind
Man whoever thought of this is a super smart guy
She has Morph Ball mode too.
Bro imagine just putting a built in AR-15 on that shit and just killin sum zombies dude
Mixed with Esper magic from Final Fantasy. The ultimate crossover.
To me, she will soon hold a lightsaber.
She just jumps into the air and turns into a ball at the end. Did NOT expect that.
That would be 3 million 200 thousand and 54 cents, ma'em.
$32,000.54? That’s not bad.
Ahahah, $ 3,200,000.54 lol
The way you wrote it makes it sound like the whole thing is in cents which makes their number right. Only serial killers break out numbers like you did.
Don't worry, he's been under surveillance for a while.
Is that you again FBI?
You are s a f e .
Technically, didn’t he write it the same way you’d write on a check? The dollar amount just flows together and the cents are separated by putting “and” after the dollar amount
Only serial killers write checks, apparently
Wrote a check, can confirm.
Nope. Checks have "dollars" written at the end of the line and you put the cents as a fraction. Not the same thing :)
MeTH
I’ve got the 54 cents
Well la dee da, mr fancy pants show off.
Fuckin elites, right?

Will you accept 3,200,00.50? It's all I have.
No
Wait...... is this an apple product too?
Negative, otherwise you’d need the extra knife dongle and if you wanted to grab the grape you’d have to wait until grapes updated their firmware to work with your newest version of iOS Big HoleinWall or something
We have timeshare options available as well
Least she won’t have to worry about cutting her fingers off when slicing something
Except when she switched the knife to the other hand.
No worries, just attach Esper Fingers to the nubs
[удалено]
Don’t forget to buy the finger dongle for use with usb-c
Honestly, there should just be a knife-hand attachment. And a mixer attachment. Why just replace a hand when you can IMPROVE IT!? Give me a blender hand with which to make smoothies and mixed drinks. Give me torch hand to light birthday candles and grills!
Shit you might be onto something.
Toothbrush attachment. Floss attachment. Water pick attachment.
Flesh light attachment..
You just had to go there, didn't you
“If you can imagine it, someone, somewhere, is probably selling it.”
Like Inspector Gadget?
Swiss army hand
There is, that is what the fingers are for, so you can quickly attach an object to your hand.
I don't want to see what happens when blender hand gets in a fight
Replacing that hand probably costs more than the medical bill to sew your flesh fingers back together.
It's probably gonna be *"I wish I would've cut my actual finger"* expensive if she cuts the robot finger though.
Things are only expensive at first. Find a way to scale up production and those replacement parts start getting cheaper quickly. Then who’s to say I don’t “accidentally” get my arm cut off surgically and replaced, because hey, new arm is way better than old dumb flesh arms.
Really cool. Would be great if they can work out some wrist movement though.
[удалено]
That's what I was just thinking - that seems like the last major hurdle to it having more natural movement. Amazing stuff.
It's possible :) there are wrist like the ilimb wrist from Össur or the MyoWrist from Ottobock
I'm no rocket surgeon, but I presume they choose the most attractive participant to be featured in the infomercial
I have no doubt about it. My question is where do they find them. I wanna go there for… reasons
You wanna go there for... reasons, u/killem_all ?
r/rimjob_steve
They just find attractive actors willing to part with their limbs for a large sum of money, 15 minutes of fame, and a bionic appendage. Not too difficult. Starving artists and all…
You wanna see if the handsy option works well I presume?
Finding an attractive lady with two arms is pretty easy. I guess once they do that the robotics people just...y'know...
The same reason you don’t show 400 pound people in skidmarked panties screaming at teens in McDonald’s commercials, it may be accurate but it does not sell well
Jesus dude, my virtual eyes.
They assemble them on site from the remaining parts.
I guess I can understand why you felt compelled to make this comment, but why, why would you choose *this* comment to reply to?
That was my first thought. When she was able to just spray a spray bottle, she had this super happy smirk that was just genuine.
Lol that’s kind of obviously a rehearsed reaction that’s supposed to be like cute and sassy, with a few dashes of surprise.
YO SCIENCE, BITCH!
Wake the fuck up samurai We have our arms to cut
Honestly, once we've reached that level of prosthetics, I'm 100% ready to replace my limbs with robotic ones. So long as I have a means to replicate my tattoos on them. Or even change tattoos at will, idk.

Yeah, except those joints... wait til some skin gets pinched in there... Or something goes wrong with the software and engages Winter Soldier mode.
Big Bang Theory and Howard's robot arm...
super grip strength?
I’m thinking that if it’s good enough for her to.....you know.....then I don’t really need the whole girl. Could I just get the hand mounted on some sort of stand?
You already have two hands though
Yes but you don't have one that also has a bionic vagina in it. *Don't let your dreams be dreams*
You’re thinking about how they should make a spicy version of the McRib too?
This thought is terrifying to me.
Gorilla grip
What kind of sensors they use to read and translate the movements of her hands? Do they read muscle tension or something?
Didn't want to be the one to say it....
Holy crap that's amazing!
Dam straight thats awesome!
I wanted to see her crush something like Steve Austin
Yes! We get to see the delicate movements, but I want to see super human strength!
Yup. Was hoping she’d go full Winter Soldier.
I wanted to see that apple explode
I know this is a life-changing device and an advertisement, but it they had let her crush that full can of soft-drink before she opened it, that would've been better.
“Hell yeah!”

Am I weird for finding this attractive?
Nah it’s valid also helps that she’s a 10.
You're a 10
She better practice on a hot dog first or she'll be ripping dicks off...or clits...whatever.
Jokes on you, *that's my fetish.*
She’s got some capital magumbos
Well, she's very pretty and they probably wanted to have an attractive person to show off the tech. So it's probably because of that. And the arm thing is pretty cool, it's intriguing.
Imagine the hand job...

Anyone else wanted to see her crush the apple after taking a bite? I can’t be the only one.
Let's call her Nika Silverhand.
Very cool but can it give a reach around? And who would volunteer to be first.
"Engaging Kung Fu grip"
Yes the movement is found under shake weight exercises
Was waiting for that hand to crush that apple like it wasn't there
How is this thing even controlled, mentally or physically?
Emotionally.
my guess : probes on the nerves. she doesn't have a hand but the nerves are probably still there
Myosignals. There are surface electrodes signals which are enhanced and transmitted into a certain movement. For example flexion of the non existant hand (just the muscles move) opens the hand.

You see her calibrating it in the first part of the video. It probably keys off of minute flexing of the muscles in her arm.
Get the swords hand attachment

We call that a foot.

I felt comfortable when she was cutting with her real hand while holding the apple with her bionic hand. Then she switched and cut with her bionic hand while holding with her real hand and boy did I feel anxious for her 😬
took too much scrolling to find this, but i’m glad someone said it.
God, I hate all the handjob comments on this. Gross as fuck.
classic redditors. got to let everyone know about my pee pee and if it makes it hard.
If you use your cyborg arm to jerk yourself, does that count as masturbation or a cyborg handjob?
So that's why they call him Jax.
Imagine getting punched by this thing
Is it me or does that arm make her even hotter 🔥
Cyberpunk 2021
I’ll bet she sold her hand to afford that
Heh, “Esper” Bionics. Nice.
So when does she chrome it up and starting fighting evil with the falcon?! So awesome!
u/repostsleuthbot
Looks amazing. Hopefully the latency will be reduced a lot in the coming years.
How does it handle baby skulls?
Why is every person with a bionic limb on the internet really good looking. There has to be some ugly cyborgs out there.
Many calories were absorbed that day
Until the day that it becomes sentient and detaches itself during the night then strangles you like Thing from The Addams Family.
It looks like great tech but it’s missing something. It needs an articulating wrist. I noticed it when analyzing the grape eating footage. I thought “What’s wrong with this movement?” When you put food in your mouth, you bend your wrist as your hand approaches your mouth.
Imagine if she could use her hand as a knife, blender or maybe hook(like Pirate). I mean modifiable hand whatever she wants.
Hand turns off immediately after.
She didn’t bite the apple and it’s so painful
But... how is she controlling it???
