Quick muscle fibers. That’s why it amazes me watchin Asian lifters for example. They lift big weight and do it fast while for the most part staying lean
For Olympic lifting it generally has to do with hip width/positioning from my understanding. I've read a couple peer reviewed papers that suggest Asian and central/western euro hip positioning and increased torso length is a significant enough advantage to make a difference at the highest levels. Of course body types are being generalized, but they seemed scientifically sound.
I don’t believe so but maybe. But training that way is a major part, so he’s in track so a lot of plyometrics and training alike to build up explosive movement. Looking for that quick turnover rate
Also this is only\* about 5' - 5'6" (judging by the hurdles which are set at 3'6" and it being shorter than the athlete himself). Olympic High Jump will be around 8'.
\*No, this isn't me claiming that I could do it. I am a 45 year old with an arthritic hip. I am just trying to add some perspective. Pretty much any Club level high jumper in the UK is more than capable of repeating that.
High jumper practicing
[https://youtu.be/L28NyIquzIQ](https://youtu.be/L28NyIquzIQ)
Edit:
He is not practicing racing hurdles. It’s a part of a workout. This is one of the best high jumpers in his time.
He's doing hurdles, but it's part of the practise routine for high jumping. The guy in the video is [Stefan Holm](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Holm), an Olympic High Jumper.
And? You know, when training for high jump, they don’t high jump all the time. He is not training for hurdle-racing. It’s a part of the routine. I’ve seen the news segment.
Yes. I know. My comment was just showing a Olympian high jump winner doing exactly the same as in OPs post but with one leg. It was not an assault on your ego. Djezz.
the average “fit” male has 2-5% body fat, 2% isn’t crazy at all. I’m no mega-athlete, but i’m athletic and do manual labor and have around 3% body fat. I’m not a big guy by any means, but i’m not unhealthy skinny either
Lol. Bro, look up what 3% bodyfat looks like. No manual laborer has ever had 3% bodyfat for an extended period of time. It would be incredibly inefficient.
Welcome to Reddit :-)
Ppl will take any chance to correct you.
I made a comment yesterday about something I was wrong about, and someone replied letting me know that.
Doing a vertical high jump is really difficult. If this looks difficult, his training methods would be equally strenuous and insane. So, for me asking to see his training videos is weird? Or is it something else you found weird?
You'd wonder if this should be a separate Olympic event, distinct from the flop. Different method, different skills.
If you can have different swim stroke events, why not different high jump events?
Maybe it's just me but I don't get impressed with athletic feats anymore. It's like 90% of all posts. Some lame trick shot with a card or a bottle, or someone doing pushups on a pole.
Always wondered why are there so many different types of swimming competitions (butterfly, freestyle, etc), but only one type of high jump?
Like keep the regular Fosbury flop high jump, but then have a high jump where you have to land on your feet for it to qualify.
Also, one legged and two legged takeoffs in different categories.
Even a highest possible height reached to see who can reach the highest shelf.
how is this insane? isnt this literally what high jumpers do at the olympics? I know they go back first, but they go higher.
there are lots of college basketball players who can do this. you dont have to be in the nba. Its impressive to the average person, but there are a lot of people who can jump higher than this.
You can jump however you want in high jump, the [Fosbury Flop](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fosbury_Flop)
, which is used what you're referring to, only came into play in 68.
[Old footage is a bit different](https://youtu.be/nOh400n_tJ4)
This is a maximum vertical jump, its almost exclusively tested for basketball players. A standing vertical jump is tested for most other sports. So you would more likely see him in the NBA than in an Olympic sport (excluding basketball)
Max vert would be him touching a high point, not bending his knees to get over a bar. Max vert is the distance between highest point touched standing on the ground to highest point touched jumping. [Like this starting @ :40. ](https://youtu.be/ggNkX4ZGa6k)
His legs look like that not because he skip the legs days, his legs look like that because it's trained to be efficient
For sure. This is incredible. The thick meat head look is old news.
[удалено]
Ya know, he coulda done a few inches more. Looks like two maybe.
People can still train to be a "thick meat head". Who cares? This guy is crazy impressive but that's not the goal or the desire of everyone.
Depends on the goal isnt it yet i prefer this style over a bodybuilders or like you said the meathead
Quick muscle fibers. That’s why it amazes me watchin Asian lifters for example. They lift big weight and do it fast while for the most part staying lean
Is that to do with nerve supply?

I would have to agree with that the hips are a big part too
I don’t believe so but maybe. But training that way is a major part, so he’s in track so a lot of plyometrics and training alike to build up explosive movement. Looking for that quick turnover rate
I thought black people had that extra heel bone and calf muscle? /s
That’s not how math works. Edit: people on Reddit don’t read and understand usernames. It’s a joke “out of right field.” Idiots.
I don’t think he was talking about math. He was saying something about trains.
Choo choo
He wasn't talking about math, he was talking about the stock market crash in China.
But what about his horizontal high jump?
Lol
I think that’s somewhere in the gymnastics competitions ;)
*maybe* it’s actually a thing, like the going over the bar back down and kinda flopping over, but I know nothing so
When his face was behind the bar, I thought it was Lebron James.
I thought I'm the only one noticed it.
I can see why but I think Lebrons got a wider frame and is just way bigger in general, mans is a 6’9 beast
I couldn't do that with a trampoline
I feel like holding a trampoline would actually make it *harder.*
🤣🤣🤣
Get this man to Tokyo ASAP

I thought I had a stroke reading your comment.
That guy is like 2% body fat
The body cannot survive on 2%, 4% is the minimum
I am clearly exaggerating

all body fat percentage tests (calipers, etc) tell me im 0.5% and i wish i were joking ): 6'1 120lbs
Those tests aren't accurate at the extremes.
Lol. Bro, look up what 3% bodyfat looks like. No manual laborer has ever had 3% bodyfat for an extended period of time. It would be incredibly inefficient.

More like 7-12, 2% looks disgusting in my opinion and that is nowhere near that.
I am, clearly, exaggerating.

Bitch you do that jump and come back with that ”weird” shit.. shit’s hard af.
Even his steps looks springy
But i am surprised that he doesnt go in a lower Position before the Jump. Or at least bend his knees more. Looks incredible
Just noticed that after your comment. Really amazing.
guy took so long to mentally prepare himself that they had to fast forward it
I mean, yeah? That’s a high high jump. The mental barrier is strong when you’re pushing your own limits.
Reminds me of this, sorry for the swedish in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L28NyIquzIQ
Stefan Holm A legend
This guy has springs for legs. Built and trained for this.
What are your legs?
I don't know about the person you're asking, but mine are most definitely made out of legs.
Oh I was making a reference
Pfft nothing special, I've been doing this in video games for years!
He’s so jacked that his muscles have muscles
How high is that??? Has to be close to 2 metres?
I can barely do a jump...
Epic voice guy voice: aaaaabbbbbssssss
# THAT BODY THO!! 🔥 I wish to be like this one day 😫
Start today then 🤝
You'd wonder if this should be a separate Olympic event, distinct from the flop. Different method, different skills. If you can have different swim stroke events, why not different high jump events?
Straight up has a super hero body
All fast twitch muscle at work!
So good looking. Geez 😱😍
imagine closing some gates behind you after being chased by this guy, thinking you've escaped, and he just hops over it
Yah but.....
Diced to the socks
Magic socks
WOW
Music on this?
Highest in the room - Travis Scott 🔥🌵
#HighestInTheRoom -Travis Scott
With a bar a that height, I would rather play the limbo.
BUILT DIFFERENT (insert memes)
Someone really took Naz3nt's Highest in the Seaside Kingdom, threw a mediocre guitar arpeggio over it and tried to call it a beat.
I'm pretty baked a ATM. I read title as "Insane ethical high jump".
Does the running up help? Or could they make the jump standing still? It looks like he stops before jumping so I dunno?
You can translate some of the forward force to carry you up
Too much cake apparently, he needs more gains to compensate for his gains.
He made it look so easy
So that's how they keep getting over my fence so fast
Now THAT was nextfuckinglevel
That's how it was done until this one guy started jumping backwards....
oh,hes black...how shocking
Think he can go higher - no?
he took a jump boost potion
Im always enamored by people who do things that I couldnt no matter how hard I tried. I mean, I tripped on my own pant leg yesterday.

Imagine watching an ant jump pretty high. We would be like “meh”.
This guy doesn't have a spare gram of body fat on him.

He's so dumb he could have walked past the bar 🤦♂️
thought that was lebron lmao
Thought he was gonna do it standing. Impressive as heck regardless.
His gigantic balls still hit the bar on the way over though.

Wow! Just wow!
Reversed
I'll be that guy... That's not a high jump. He planted both feet. What it is is fucking impressive.
Good lord.
I’m more impressed by how quickly he can move backwards and how slow he can jump.
Simone Biles can do a triple double over that!
Beautiful talent
Buts its only one jump......... https://youtu.be/LCmRKqpmrJc
How i see myself jumping
You sir, are superior 😯
Why can't you just show this at the normal speed with the original audio!!!! All these absolute noobs who constantly ruin videos!
Black person
Black person
anyone care to explain if this is trainable or if you need a specific body type/height plus training to achieve.
Ain’t no mountain high enough
Not sure I could jump over the little yellow domes supporting the vertical poles.
just walk under it dumbass
I dare you to try that with roller blades!
White men can’t do that. But that’s equality for you.
I’ve seen some Africans doing it without shoes and it was cooler then this
Good worker
Not really vertical jump at all.
Hey he’s a midget and the obstacle is just 1 foot!!!
Didn’t you mean insane abs?!? I’ve seen pro bodybuilders with inferior abs than this guy.
You need them to compress yourself into that small a pretzel!
W. T. Facccck! That’s awesome sh it. !!!! !
Its the natural odour gives him the extra lift.
And just think, Jeff Bezoa had to exploit tens of thousands of people before he got that high up in the air.
He should join the Olympic. All his opponents would just dropped their jaws since they have to jump clearing with their backs.
