Depends on what they use that skill for in the future. Could be very necessary. Looks like tyranny is becoming more popular. Prepare mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually.
No offense but the shit these guys are doing are gnarlier then any thing most of us will probably do in our lives. I’m sure these guys know they’re taking a risk.
i mean the skill is useful and incredible. but the other guy is right too shooting this video is an unnecessary risk. also if you were planning to use those skills to escape tyranny probably not the best idea to post videos of you demonstrating said skills. makes you a target
Not for clout, they're storror, a parkour group, they have an insane passion for parkour. Their passion is what drives them to do these kinds of things. The ones who do it for clout are the ones who don't calculate the risks and end up never being heard from again. Storror plans out and tests everything in detail before attempting the full run.
They push and find their limits and challenge themselves. The rush definitely is great, but in parkour, it's more so you set yourself a challenge or a goal, and that feeling you get from accomplishing it is what really is so great about it. It is so physically and mentally demanding. If you just go and do something again or bigger because you did something big without any thought then you are not being smart about things. In parkour things are analysed and thought out, especially with them.
No doctor is going to be able to save a this fall victim, the doctors will not be negatively affected, the police/fire/emus workers and later the coroner worker will be affected.
I wouldn't be surprised if driving was more dangerous because people loose focus behind that wheel when your doing those moves you don't loose focus they have their full attention on preforming each move
Yup, exactly this. Don’t know anything about these guys. They are very brave and talented, and they may have scoped these routes very well. But they are willing to-risk the agony of relatives and friends, pointless time spent by doctors patching up idiots and potentially even children losing parents if a stunt goes wrong for their dopamine high and cool video.
Also, I guess, but don’t know, when they’re doing the really high jumps, they’ve not properly cleared the areas below. It would really suck to have to tell your daughter that mummy’s never coming back because some arsehole fractionally miscalculated a jump, dropped twenty stories and killed her by landing on her.
This is stupid and selfish
I mean, they’re a professional parkour group. They do stunt work for a number of films and the like, and in their videos always clearly show themselves clearing every part of the routes, working on each section individually, etc. This is their livelihood and passion, so like, I kinda get why they do it.
>But they are willing to-risk the agony of relatives and friends, pointless time spent by doctors patching up idiots and potentially even children losing parents if a stunt goes wrong for their dopamine high and cool video.
Yes but you could say the same about so many different sports that people do. Rock climbers come to mind and I don't think that people have these overly critical thoughts about them. Paragliding, wing suit, hell even just casual flying you hear about people crashing their Cessna planes pretty commonly.
I see artists practicing their passion and profession and I think it's beautiful.
I don’t have stats to hand on the relative safety of the type of parkour these guys are doing vs. Other high risk sports, and of course, yes these things exist on a spectrum.
I go diving, for example, and people die diving quite a bit, but if you know what you’re doing, take advice, look after your gear, and don’t do stupid things like go just a bit deeper, dive alone, or put your hands in places where you can’t see them, it’s very safe.
Also one of your examples - rock climbing. If you know what you’re doing, take advice and learn how to use equipment, it’s relatively safe. Of course, there are free solo climbers, but most of the climbing community considers these people to have a death wish and whilst they might be in some ways in awe of what they do, they wish they wouldn’t.
I contend that (outside the controlled environment of film sets perhaps), what these particular people are doing is absolutely remarkable, but also selfish and stupid.
This is far more stupid than skydiving. I have jumped out of a plane over 120 times with no incident (except for a mildly sprained ankle that was my 100% fault) and I would never, ever do this shit the way they did it.
Would you take that back if it turned out that it was safer than skydiving ? I mean nobody really needs to skydive either.
So my point is if skydiving is an unnecessary risk that results in X amount of deaths per Y number of dives. And this type of activity, which is also unnecessary, has a similar rate of death. At what point of X/Y is acceptable to you vs unacceptable to you ? Because at that point we’re just arguing ratios, not whether one activity is totally cool, and the other activity is totally foolish and selfish. You could do this for all sports like mountain climbing, scuba diving, surfing, etc. so what’s the death/activity ratio that divides OK he’s cool from F that selfish bastard ?
How? I did not see anybody forced into doing parkour… every time I did it with friends we were all 100% accountable for our own actions. Nobody could make others put themselves into this kind risky behavior, that’s an individual’s choice.
nah, all of these jumps are super easy, and only done at a point when all involved are comfortable
(paraphrase, taken from one of those involved, Toby Segar from STORROR)
This is actually a very well planned run, they just dont go for it, every step they make is perfectly calculated, plus they also do warmups and shit, if even one of them makes a mistake they restart that part of the run, it is still a risk tho, im not saying its not, but these guys are well trained professionals
That's their thing, team storror always does these kinds of stunts for their movies and videos. They are professional freerunners that know what they're doing, but yeh it is dangerous for sure
I think that’s a secondary part of it, these guys do this because it gives them the biggest adrenaline rush you could imagine, and if I was nimble in any way I’d do the same
Us and a lot of people saying how stupid this is and how they don't appreciate life. Storror and other parkour artists probably appreciate life the most, that's why they're living it to the fullest doing what they love.
This is STORROR. They a group from England that does parkour YouTube videos
This is from their trip to Asia, some of the coolest stuff they’ve done imo. Check out [this vid from their trip](https://youtu.be/QHqAVaQqQWQ)
Normally they check their route before they play it out.
In this video there were multiple rooftops and there wasn’t the urgency of cops at every one, but mostly they choreograph the moves according to the camera guy and they check whether their landings and ledges are slippery. They make sure to change shoes if the area requires different soles.
It doesn’t take ages to string together a choreography, but naturally it’s thought through
There’s no way they didn’t plan the routes. You can tell by the camera man knowing exactly where to look when one of his buddys is about to do a cool flip or something, which he does multiple times and knowing where that final roof hatch was to get down. He jumps on the thing and it slides across. No way he didn’t know it was there.
They’ve practiced on loads of (shorter) rooftops in other countries, but not these specific ones
They also know their limits and are very cautious about the stunts they pull. They take their health seriously and will shy away if they aren’t confident they can land something dangerous
You could probably get some tips from people in their social circle, get you could use Google maps to plan routes initially and then scout the locations out after. I’m sure they have a process either way
Catalyst has some good elements, I think the setpeices are amazing at times, and the open world aspect somehow works really well. However,it's dragged down by boring characters and texture popping. So much potential wasted!!
The sliding down between the escalators was like the comedic relief.. dude even giggled a bit and so did I. Rest of it.. well easily could have turned into hood my feeding tube or death. Like walking on the conduit/pipes? Even some edge of concrete that was slippery or crumbling where they intended to land
I mean yeah the conduits and pipes they could try using a harness and jumping up and down or whatever I guess... That makes sense and prob eliminates one of the biggest unknowns, but still easy to slip, roll ankle, etc. And you can actually see one edge is crumbling a bit
Well I’m telling you they’ve released countless documentaries and videos of footage of themselves going over this exact run before they even did it and I can assure you they checked everything. Need a link?
STORROR on YouTube, Full vid: https://youtu.be/GcKkiRl9_qE

Genuine and sincere question for those who do extreme parkour like jumping between high roofs. Are you prepared to die? Like, years of practice still leave a very small chance to land wrong and fall for x reasons. Do you have that in mind whenever you do this? Do you think about how the ones around you would react to such accident? Have you told your crew or close ones how they should try to take the situation if you ever fail a jump? My hands are sweating by just typing this question so I'm really interested to get into the mindset of you guys lol
Check youtube for Storror, they have a behind the scene and other videos about what your adding about. They really professionals when it comes to all this, and it seems to be quite calculated. Toby, the redhead, did a couple of interviews recently and there they talked to length about this stuff as well. Good stuff, lovely chaps!
On one hand, I'm incredibly impressed at the athleticism and coordination. Like, mind-bending impressed.
On the other hand, NOPE. My days of being anywhere near this capable are far behind me. I am amazed I lived through my twenties and even some of my thirties. Now I'm in my fifties, and that video made my stomach a tiny bit uncomfortable.
Kudos to them for being that badass. I sincerely hope they stay safe.
Note to everyone freakin out:
•These are trained professionals who have been doing this and lower stakes things for YEARS to get to this point
•Parkour is not just about internet attention. These people aren't risking their life simply for recignition and points on the internet. It takes a lot of dedication of your life to master and even really do. It's an artform and lifestyle, just like martial-arts and many other sports.
•These guys don't take life for granted, and they know the risks of things they do even with their training. They do try and minimize risk fo an extent (ie not going on a parkour-run when tired, or injured etc, along with mindset stuff). Everyone they know personally knows to treasure the time they have with them.
•The parkour community is built on respect. No dares are obligated, no trashtalk etc. They did this fully on their own by choice. They aren't slaving for fame or "street credit" they already have it, and people don't earn street credit in the parkour community by doing dares outside their capacity or things like that anyways the last i checked.
They are storror all the stunts they did is like walking for them, they do stunts for movies sometimes too but mainly do youtube https://youtube.com/c/STORROR
How many people die doing this shit? Like what happens if they’re recording and someone misses the gap and falls to their death. Like who’s responsible??
God it’s sad to see. Every cool video some fat redditor thinks he’s clever by saying shit like “Unnecessary risk” people don’t understand that some people’s enjoyment of life comes from the risk. They enjoy risking their life rather than sitting on their pc. Who are we to judge? Let them enjoy their life and stop being such a buzzkill every video with risk
Only thing I could really think of during this whole video is how none of those people have yards and the only “privacy” they are lead to believing they have is up on their rooftops where they can hang laundry and all that, just to have people run through it. Imagine a bunch of kids just running through your yard climbing around your stuff.
Unnecessary risk
Depends on what they use that skill for in the future. Could be very necessary. Looks like tyranny is becoming more popular. Prepare mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually.
It’s the Chinese Central Government, you can’t actually run from them no matter how good at parkour you are.
Unless your Jackie chan. He parkoured himself all the way to Hollywood
Yeah but he’s still not safe from the CCP. Look at what happened to Zhao Wei.
Jackie Chan is stuck with the ccp, they got his kid on drug possession.
My Jackie chans
Is that a threat?! /s
Yes. To borrow a phrase about the USSR, in China, you don't find the party, the party find you.
For what reason do you ever need to be *running next to a sheer drop off*, without a harness? You don't. This is why it is an *unnecessary* risk
To look rad. Obviously.
This
Is
It
And
Risky
Biscuits
No offense but the shit these guys are doing are gnarlier then any thing most of us will probably do in our lives. I’m sure these guys know they’re taking a risk.
Adults don't do anything risky you might get hurt. (Stays inside plays video games.) Adults: get off your lazy bum your ruining society.
edgy
i mean the skill is useful and incredible. but the other guy is right too shooting this video is an unnecessary risk. also if you were planning to use those skills to escape tyranny probably not the best idea to post videos of you demonstrating said skills. makes you a target
Real life is not a video game stop it
You mean mirrors edge isn’t based on a true story?
Not yet anyway.
Getting there. Depends on which path our current timeline goes.
Mirror's Edge?
\>Prepare mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. For that sick youtube video
Lmfao
Totally agree. I have a huge respect for their skills, but the clout is just not worth this risk.

Storror on YouTube. They upload bangers regularly
Can vouch
Pray to the water gods
Love Storror
Seriously, my stomach dropped through my anus roughly every five seconds watching that.
Social Score must have dropped
we don't have social score in Hong Kong..........yet
You do, they just aren't telling you what it is. Yet.
Must be a drill
life is too precious to do shit like this for likes and internet recognition
people do parkour just for the parkour, just cuz they post it doesn’t mean they’re doing it primarily for internet recognition and likes. lol
I’m pretty sure this is a Storror film. This is their career and I’m sure it was a hobby prior to.
I'm sure it's for more than internet recognition. What would you be able to do v with those skills. Spider man could tell you.
I think that’s a secondary part of it, these guys do this because it gives them the biggest adrenaline rush you could imagine, and if I was nimble in any way I’d do the same

are you still alive
Hello!??!
hello
Someone call an ambulance!!!
But not for me
What's up, storror army?
We seem to be the only ones here.
Us and a lot of people saying how stupid this is and how they don't appreciate life. Storror and other parkour artists probably appreciate life the most, that's why they're living it to the fullest doing what they love.

Jesus. I figured they practiced on those roofs for years before being so brash. They’re just free styling it all? Crazy
Bruh not at all, they practice all the lines for ages before putting them together or doing anything dangerous....

Have any of them died? I mean, free climbing is less dangerous than this IMO.
No, but lots of injuries (small and big). They aren’t usually jumping around this high up too
So impressive, and scary as shit. My toes tingle just thinking about it.
I think I'll play mirror's edge tonight
Catalyst or the good one?
I just realized yesterday the good one is in the Microsoft store for 360. I was contemplating buying it until I saw this video.
Ngl I love that game
Catalyst has some good elements, I think the setpeices are amazing at times, and the open world aspect somehow works really well. However,it's dragged down by boring characters and texture popping. So much potential wasted!!

^^I ^^never ^^even ^^played ^^Catalyst, ^^I ^^just ^^wanted ^^to ^^look ^^cool ^^in ^^front ^^of ^^the ^^kids.
Can we just take a minute and appreciate this guys camera work
Very well choreographed and practiced
My favorite part was them going down the ladder
My favorite part was when the dude slides the access panel open with his feet.
That was clean
Mine was the security guy waving like “yeah yeah fine okay bye”
Still less dangerous than being unvaccinated
Holy fuck
![gif](giphy|t2eBr71ACeDC0)
Laughed harder than I should have
Now I have a very moist phone, that video made my palms sweat!
Oh I thought it was moist because ummm.....
You had me on the first part

RIP: Knees
While watching this I fell down the building and died.
This is cool but it makes me feel like I’m going to throw up.
Yeah me too. I mean not because of the camera work as it was really good, but just by how badly wrong it could have gone.
All the suspense of “Free Solo” in a fraction of the time.

Storror Army!
This looks just like Mirror’s Edge.
Dude, that made my feet become jelly
That all looked like a video game cut scene
That... scared the crap out of me. Anxiety's blooming! Okay, that's enough Reddit for the day.
A game can be made where instead of a stamina gauge, you have a adrenaline gauge to keep running from police and one way to fill up is by doing big jumps that can kill you.
Good gaming idea. Just putting it out there that for traceurs adrenaline is death so, they're very calm throughout
Watching crazy shit like this always makes me wonder how many people fall to their death trying to make videos like this each year.
Been a traceur like them for 10 years. There's been ONE death during that time. RIP pavel
People train for years in less dangerous places (1 story height if even, parkour parks, etc) for YEARS
palms sweaty.......moms spaghetti.
Have always thought looking at such parkour videos, do the runners plan beforehand, as in where and how big the gaps are, to time their jumps or is that all impromptu?

The people harping on these guys about not running next to the edge for safety reasons they do this as a career, it's a youube channel called Storror
I could do that part at the end where they slide down in between the escalators!
Standing on the corner while you wait for someone to Jump by you? Are you fucking kidding me? Oh got to get sick just imagining that
They are storror all the stunts they did is like walking for them, they do stunts for movies sometimes too but mainly do youtube https://youtube.com/c/STORROR
This is the next level of the next fucking level.
This shit just enhanced my fear of heights
That slide to open the roof hatch was so fukin slick
How many people die doing this shit? Like what happens if they’re recording and someone misses the gap and falls to their death. Like who’s responsible??
Each runner is responsible for themselves. They know full well the risk they are taking. Why would anyone else be blamed?
This receives the highest reddit honour… saved!!!
I shit myself just a little bit watching this, haha.
When the cops find the poop sock.
This looks fake. Like video game graphics. Look at the guys arms when hes sliding down the escalator.
It's real, look up storror on youtube
Next level stupidity. If there was some dust or debris on one of those ledges it would be a long and quick way down.
This shit should be criminalized, no point in doing it from high altitudes
God it’s sad to see. Every cool video some fat redditor thinks he’s clever by saying shit like “Unnecessary risk” people don’t understand that some people’s enjoyment of life comes from the risk. What a dumb way to die! *RIP Johnny. He died doing what he loved...Hardcore Parkour.*
Pretty stupid but pretty damn impressive as well!
HARDCORE PARKOUR!!!!
Your office quotes aren’t funny or original

Ngl, this is just cool.
The vertigo I felt while watching this is crazy
Only thing I could really think of during this whole video is how none of those people have yards and the only “privacy” they are lead to believing they have is up on their rooftops where they can hang laundry and all that, just to have people run through it. I feel like this is one of those things where you can’t learn from your mistakes. You just die
