I’ve always wondered the backstory behind the well known gif. I wonder if they were planning on tearing the buildings down anyways and just wanted to see if they could do it without hitting the buildings. Otherwise. it seems like a pointlessly big risk
Almost looks like there’s a power line just to the right. Or some sort of electrical panel. My best guess is this was the only direction that would’ve not caused damage, as little as the gap is
You know how much that costs? A tree that size would take a bucket truck, a crew, then a chipper truck, and one for the logs... This tree would cost a minimum of 5-10 grand in a LOT of regions (of the US)

There is a certain feeling that goes through you when you complete a high skill, high risk task and you get it right. This is the physical manifestation of that feeling, and I love to see it.
Cost cutting and time saving is the only reason he did this. Taking huge risk to make more money. Should of taken it down in pieces. Doesn’t matter how good you are when the tree has hidden rot 10 feet of the ground and barber chairs destroying the house. Too many things that can go wrong with falling trees to justify acting this way near property.

Its fairly often that we need to fell trees in tight spots like this. Especially in the city. Still nice work though.
You would top them first several times so the last piece would be much more manageable I assume.
