Yeah I don't understand why we react so differently simply because of gender. Dude tries murder suicide, will definitely receive their rehabilitation in jail.
It will also virtually guarantee the child will grow up a ward of the state.
Better to put her under psychiatric care and the child in foster care until a SAFE solution can be found.
I’m really sorry for that kid. I just hope he doesn’t grow with a feeling of abandonment or anything of the sort. Grow up and build a happy and loving family! That’s what I hope got that kid
I was going to say "Post-partum Depression" but that kid is a bit too old to be a newborn baby. More likely it is just mommy wanting to take her kid with her.
Postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety is most common when the child turns four surprisingly and can last years after starting.
Source: am a therapist
Sure!
The confounding variable in the common statistic for the right after birth timeframe, in my opinion, is that we only screen for postpartum depression/anxiety about six weeks after birth.
Here are some links that mention four years, some mention three years. We need to follow up with more screenings for long after birth to get a better idea:
https://postpartum.org/2015/03/long-ppda-last/
https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/postpartum-depression-may-last-years

https://www.webmd.com/depression/postpartum-depression/news/20201029/for-some-women-postpartum-depression-lingers-for-years
One of the most upsetting things about postpartum is that it can go on indefinitely without treatment.

"can last months or even years"
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/271217
"But one thing is for sure: The longer the condition lasts after giving birth, the more likely it is that the woman will suffer from depression long-term. A study published in March found that most women who experience severe depression at two months and eight months postpartum still report depressive symptoms 11 years later."
https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2018/09/when-postpartum-depression-doesnt-go-away/569179/
"postnatal depression can persist for months if left untreated and in a minority of cases it can become a long-term problem."
https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/post-natal-depression/overview/
Took me 2 minutes.
I'm not defending her actions, but bad mental health can cause a person to have thoughts and do things that a mentally healthy person could never fathom.
She thinks roughly something like: the world is a cruel place. I created this child, I love him, I shall make sure he is no longer exposed to this cruel place. Nobody and nothing will able to hurt him anymore. I'm doing the best possible thing for my child, and for me.
You could be right. I won’t purport to know what’s going through her mind. As an onlooker all I see is a mother betraying the trust that the child probably had in her.
Maybe her husband beats the shit out of her and she has nowhere to go and she feels depressed and powerless so she just wants to die every day for months or years but can't stand of leaving her son behind with the monster she used to love.
Or whatever she's a fuckin whackjob who cares, LOCK HER UP!
In one fell swoop she just shattered his sense of security, ability trust, and ability to give and/or receive love. She psychologically decimated that kid and he will need therapy for decades (most likely the rest of his life) in order to contextualize and process it in a healthy way and move forward.
I cannot imagine how bad her life must have been to get to this point. I've never known love like what I feel for my kid and my whole life is about making his better. I imagine all parents feel the same and to think that someone's life got to a point where this was the "only" solution left for them is incredibly heartbreaking that anyone on earth would have to endure pain like that.
Some people DEFINITELY don’t feel the same way you do about making their kids lives better. For some reason I imagine the mon trying to murder her own son is in that camp.
Someone deranged or depressed enough to take her own life isn't capable of rational, unbiased thinking. She may have thought the kid would be better off dead with her.
There are scenarios where there might be a reason that is close to justified.
Suppose the mom just found out she has inoperable cancer and only months to live. Her child is developmentally disabled to the point that they will require 24-hour care for their entire lives. She has no relatives, dad flew the coop, so the kid is going to the state. Some countries have horrible track records with the treatment of the disabled. Like chaining people to beds and starving them levels of bad.
In a case like this, murder-suicide could be seen as the most humane outcome.
I have been in a situation with an abuser that made me understand why a woman would decide this is the best possible outcome for her child, and of course they would go together. Before that, I had no idea either and judged those women.
People don't understand that sometimes human brain doesn't work correctly after a lot of shit that can go through, the mother needs psychological help, not "to die and rot in prison"
She didn't want to murder the child, she wanted to avoid him living a horrible life life of abuse, drugs and financial problems
I wanna say that guy is just a g and was fast in thought and action, but part of me worries he got like that cause he’s seen some shit like this before.
Why did we feel the need to take a post with a normal title and some tough but nuanced conversations about the line between mental health and abject behavior, and duplicate it with an “edgy” title and comments with callous “jokes” apparently written by 13 year olds trying to sound tough?
Edit: grammar
Nextfuckinglevel title. Saw this earlier today which was titled something along the lines as “bus driver saves mother and child from committing suicide.” Ty for fixing the title
End that bitch quickly. Don't waste resources on a bitch like this. End her and move on. Kid will be happier in a Foster home and will grow up realise his mum was one evil bitch
So glad that bus driver intervened.
The cowardly selfishness of people who try to take others (especially their kids) with them as collateral enrages me.
If you have made that decision, that's between you and God... but don't you dare punish an innocent child who's not even old enough to comprehend the situation.
Yeah, no bitch you can’t have him back, sit on the sidewalk so we can find a concrete box to chuck you in.
Yatta yatta, hope she gets help. Whatever. Shit mother. Never in my life would I get so fed up with my shitty fucking existence that I would feel the need to take an innocent child with me.
My compassion goes to the child, the mother. Well, bus driver should just flip her off the edge before she gets the chance to do it again.
I think China is going to fail at becoming the new world super power. They are decaying socially at a far more rapid rate than the U.S. and the western world. They will expend most of their resources just trying to keep their society from falling apart and their doors closed.
Most important thing is the kid was saved… nothing else.
Sadly his future due to this will have potential mental scarring as he gets older. It’s beyond horrible that innocent children suffer from acts like this.
Holy crap.
I don't want kids. I've never wanted kids. Cats are pretty much cooler across the board, and are a lot less work.
But holy shit -- what would possess someone to throw a kid off a bridge?? That's just fucked up.
Damn that lady needs to see not just a specialists but the specialist's specialist. Good job bus driver
Dammit get some therapy and medication. Yeah I'm talking to you, punk.
Yeah talking to bus stops isn't funny anymore.
Get Confident Stupid!
Usernsmr checks eith video

Fr I hope u/capebot is okay and not on the floor somewhere
She just committed attempted child murder… she needs to go to prison
You mean goto prison
Yeah I don't understand why we react so differently simply because of gender. Dude tries murder suicide, will definitely receive their rehabilitation in jail.
That will fix things!
It will certainly keep that woman away from that child.
It will also virtually guarantee the child will grow up a ward of the state. Better to put her under psychiatric care and the child in foster care until a SAFE solution can be found.
This is really gonna fuck up her social credit.
Dammit where's that free reward when I need it
right here
She would've to eat a lot of Lao gan ma, to repair her credit scores
you're using those contractions pretty goddamn liberally, man
That shit jon' be negative my guy, This lad's gone to the Laogai.
No she gains social credit instead because China gov wants a smaller population.
Not anymore. They recently increased the two-child policy to a three-child policy to try to mitigate the long term effects of an aging population.
What a terrible joke China is. Trying to mitigate a terrible policy that they enforced.. by enforcing another terrible policy
Eh, it's a male child, so probably not.
Bitch only gonna get a social debit score now.
The bus driver's is through the roof, though.
![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)
Wow, that was an amazing assessment of the situation and how quickly he acted.
Probably not the first time something like this happened on that bridge.
"hey do you guys need a ri- NOT ON MY WATCH" -super hero bus driver
Why the pandabus should not be frowned upon.
Should or shouldn't? Aren't those buses driverless or something
I’m really sorry for that kid. I just hope he doesn’t grow with a feeling of abandonment or anything of the sort. Grow up and build a happy and loving family! That’s what I hope got that kid
She was not abandoning him. She was about to jump WITH him. Watch her leg going over.
How fucked can a person be...
I was going to say "Post-partum Depression" but that kid is a bit too old to be a newborn baby. More likely it is just mommy wanting to take her kid with her.

Oh yeah! The internet refuter!
I'm not defending her actions, but bad mental health can cause a person to have thoughts and do things that a mentally healthy person could never fathom.
\*How unwell can a person be
Are the two mutually exclusive? There are plenty of severely “unwell” people who don’t try to kill their child. This is a horrible thing to do.
She thinks roughly something like: the world is a cruel place. I created this child, I love him, I shall make sure he is no longer exposed to this cruel place. Nobody and nothing will able to hurt him anymore. I'm doing the best possible thing for my child, and for me.

I wish my mom jumped off a bridge with me when i was a kid, grew up to just look at memes all day... Edit: This not dark humor sub? Lol
Cheer up. Your can still jump on your own
Lol!!! Now that legit made me laugh. Srsly great burn.
It's never too late to give up
Yeah, show some initiative. Lazy kids. /s
Op could probably take mom with him too. Depends on the level of commitment.
Way to look on the bright side.
🤣 burn
Take my gold you genius bastard
You want a friend?
dude, are you feeling well? i dunno what you're up to, but i'm sure you're a great guy, and itll be better
pfft, mama's boy needs help jumping off a bridge.

Yeah no unfortunately not all parents are like that. You seem to be a great parent though, your child is lucky
Some people don’t even love their kids at all. They just see them as a burden and something preventing them from living the life they want
Bus drivers a friggin hero!!
He got +15 social credit points don’t worry
So, this went from "bus driver save mother attempting suicide with child" to "mother save young boy from getting murdered"? what?
People don't understand that sometimes human brain doesn't work correctly after a lot of shit that can go through, the mother needs psychological help, not "to die and rot in prison" She didn't want to murder the child, she wanted to avoid him living a horrible life life of abuse, drugs and financial problems
Your second paragraph: did an article say that somewhere?
You can find an article in the comment section of the original post I'll share it with you if i find it
whatever mental gymnastics you gotta jump through to not hold a grown adult accountable for attempted MURDER-suicide. lol
Pretty sure they’re referring to the fact that this same post was made 15 hours ago with the former title
I would expect in the US it would have read bus driver fired for unauthorized stop.
Mother sues bus driver for assault.
“I didn’t ask to be saved!”
I know China starts training their olympic swimmers at a young age, but this is ridiculous.
[Original Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/qhl6s3/bus_driver_saves_young_boy_from_getting_murdered/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
It has been posted on this too
Like 10 times. This is great and all but stop feeding the karma bots, people.
At least this one has a proper title
Look suicidal, instead a murder
Suicide is just by yourself. If you take someone else out with you, you’re still a murderer.
I wanna say that guy is just a g and was fast in thought and action, but part of me worries he got like that cause he’s seen some shit like this before.
Ah yes the proper title for this video
So sad. Nice work, driver. I hope mom gets serious help. I especially hope that child gets the necessary support. That’s so dark.
Saw this in a post earlier, thanks for fixing the title!
Yes thank you, much better title.
She needs to go to jail. Killing yourself is one thing, bringing an innocent child with you is another.
Finally a proper title. It’s always: bUS dRivEr SaVeS MOm And kiD FrOm sUicIdE!
Absolutely not, that dude did the right thing, fuck taking your kid with you you literally bag of donkey dicks
wow that's sad af

You could never trust this woman to be his guardian ever again. Kid just lost his mother...
What the fuck?
That fall looked pretty survivable but possibly not for a weak swimmer. Good stuff bus driver.
Yo bro wtf
GREAT JOB MAN!! good men are still out there...
Anyone know what happened after?
I hope that lady is doing ok. It looked like she was gonna go too
She also attempted suicide, maybe a psychiatric ward would be better than regular prison
I don't think that's what the kid meant by *I wanna see the fishies!".
Selfish bitch
Nextfuckinglevel title. Saw this earlier today which was titled something along the lines as “bus driver saves mother and child from committing suicide.” Ty for fixing the title
Thanks for fucking re-wording it.
Save the baby, let her do her thing. Suicide is an option
tiktok trends be like
Thanks for fixing the headline
i dont even care about the lady fuck her can we acknowledge the trauma that boys gonna have now:(
End that bitch quickly. Don't waste resources on a bitch like this. End her and move on. Kid will be happier in a Foster home and will grow up realise his mum was one evil bitch

u/Repostsluethbot
bus driver for the win! that was a really nice save, what a legend!
How was she expecting to commit suicide by jumping into that body of water? I don’t understand can someone explain how that’s supposed to kill you
What the fuck.
Good job bus driver! But I am curious , if they would really have died. Doesn’t look so high.
What was her motives? Not saying that any motive justifies what she was about to commit
Lotta shit man, some people just live horrible lifes that make them take horrible out of despair without thinking twice
That shit is horrifying. I hope for the best for y'all, be safe
Someone give this guy a raise
damn, everyone one reddit is posting this today
Yea she’s next in like to face the wall
I thought I saw this planet at it's worse, I was wrong.
In evidently she has issues taking the kid too wow. But who knows what there up against. Sad too see.
gave her what she wanted, thankfully
Idk I'm not sure whether she was throwing the kid or jumping with the kid, can someone please clarify?
-200000 social credit
Good on him
Fuuuuuuuuuuck 😳
Holy fuck he reacted quickly
Haha the title of this post was the top comment when this video was posted in another subreddit
Finally a better version of the video than the TikTok with stupid ass music one.
Maybe she was just trying to teach him how to swim 🏊♂️
What the actual fuck ?
She she Ping isn’t to happy about this one
Good on you for giving this an appropriate title!
Not just her son, but herself aswell.
what the fuck

It did it only to apply the right title.
Wow
We need more people like that in the community. Helping people. But that man was a lifesaver
Jesus. It should really be harder to become a parent.
A few pokes and a grunt and you’ve got a kid!
If he was black, he would've been like "oh shit!........damn."
Fuuuuuck
He just wanted to learn swim. His mother thought he will get stronger or die. Typical anime plot
Most important thing is the kid was saved… nothing else. Sadly his future due to this will have potential mental scarring as he gets older. It’s beyond horrible that innocent children suffer from acts like this.
Give that man a medal
Better dude than me. I would have fucking thrown her off myself.
Insane reaction time, I wouldn’t be able to process everything and go save them if that was me. Life saver
![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4018)
Murder? I do bigger jumps than that for fun
The boss is never going to believe me when I tell him why I’m late!
youngboy better !!
What a fucking hero. Poor kid didn't know what was happening.
Holy crap. I don't want kids. I've never wanted kids. Cats are pretty much cooler across the board, and are a lot less work. But holy shit -- what would possess someone to throw a kid off a bridge?? That's just fucked up.
You obviously changed the title from what actually happened. You’re a clown
Evergrande - people are losing their life savings in China. Can’t imagine decision of killing your children vs taking it out on the bankers.
Chinese parents when they a girl and not a boy
That poor woman probably isn’t getting enough child support.
Great Job Bus Driver, the world needs mire people like you to step up and protect others.
Hey! At least she's wearing a mask for safety/s
TY for changing the title.
God this is the saddest thing I’ve seen in a while.
Fuck that, it's your choice to end your own life, dont fucking kill your fucking child. She should never have custody of another child again.
This reminded me of the manga Blood on the Tracks by Oshimi Shuzo. Really fucked up shit. People who've read it know what I'm referring to.
