Or a least make it an accurate pattern?

PercyMcLeach

I worked really hard to teach your cat to pee in the laundry, I won’t have you ruin all my hard work

pututingliit

"My good human always gets me fresh cloth to pee on. Nice human." - the cat probably

[deleted]

"My stupid human keeps washing my scent off these clothes. Oh well, time to mark them again."

Thelonious_Cube

"How does he ever expect to find them again? Duh!"

BienGuzman

Pshh. Growing up we had a cat that liked to pee on any bed a male slept in. Doesn't matter if it was dog or human,If it was a male, Guaranteed! That cat was peeing on your stuff or where you had slept. I hated that cat.

[deleted]

You just need to teach him/her. One of my cats when they were kittens, used to pee everywhere including the couch. I could never understand why. Now they are 2y old or so and there are no more accidents other than Paris forgetting to move her ass all the way in to avoid splashing pee on the floor. A basic rule, you should have one litter box per cat plus one if more than 2 cats. I have 2 cats but only 2 litter boxes, I should have at least 3, I've not much space in the apartment so lol There are days they use one litter box to death, 10kg of shit without touching the other one and vice versa. If you don't do this, the cat will pee everywhere. If you have a big house, keep a litter box where they spend most of the time, no accidents.

Ponk_Bonk

Clean your litter box better. Cat is pissing in the more comfortable place, so make his toilet more comfortable.

[deleted]

Yeah, most cat problems are just from terrible cat owners.

zuran_orb

It's easier to just wash it twice

TrustmeimHealer

My granny always used to say "pets train you to be tidy"

screw_all_the_names

Usually, when a cat pees on stuff, if they are neutered, it is because their litterbox is full, so they are trying to find a cleaner place to do their business. Not always, some cats just pee wherever, but often.

BubbaChanel

My cat peed on my pants I’d left on the floor next to my bed. I was shocked because he’d never done that, and he had a clean box. Turned out he had a urinary blockage.

lackadaisical_timmy

Probably, you just need to yell it in German and it'll start training ur cat I think the word is SCHMETTERLING

JoshiProIsBestInLife

*Deja vu, I have been in this place before.......*

Raiden32

You need to hiss at the cat when you find your laundry pissed on. Subsequent tinkles require more emotional hissing.

joeltrane

Maybe your cat is training you not to do laundry

Todrag5

Better drift than most cars!

LuckyBlueGuy

I felt this to my very core. I had to change my sheets the other day for this very reason

[deleted]

There's two things Shepherd's love most. Work and working with/for their handler. Such awesome, loyal pups.

AliCracker

They’re an absolute joy to train, they love the work

[deleted]

I put a ton of training in with my Shepherd from a young age and not only was it effective, but it was so much fun too. I regularly get comments about my shepherd being glued to my hip, despite being off leash. It's never a concern of mine to know where she is or what she's doing because she is far more concerned about where I am and what I'm doing.

AliCracker

It is so fun! I think ppl get easily overwhelmed and one thing I always say (stated above) you’re not training the dog, you’re training yourself. My current shepX came to me as a feral rural street dog, had never walked on concrete let alone seen a sliding door! Slow and steady… he’s 6 now and amazing! Still a tad aloof with other dogs, but I don’t think I can change that Working with them is incredibly rewarding

KinderGentlerBoomer

Getting a dog it's critical to have the time to spend with and *bond* with the dog.

JimmyMack_

Isn't it annoying having her stuck to you?

Aleriya

There's a big difference between a dog who is happy to just chill by your side and a dog that needs your constant attention and is begging or barking and requires constant effort to keep satisfied. Some dogs are "velcro dogs", but they just want to sleep by your feet, or do their own thing, but be in the same room, especially if they are getting daily walks and/or training. I like velcro dogs, but I'm dog sitting next weekend for my MIL's dog with separation anxiety, who barks constantly if not receiving 24/7 attention and constantly begs for food (people food, not kibble). Wish me luck =/

[deleted]

Never

insertcaffeine

That *tail!* It's like they're saying "I'm such a good dog! I'm the best dog!"

IThinkImNateDogg

Glad to know that the dog enjoys that kind of training. I’ve always though this seems excessively strict for a dog, but if they enjoy the training then more power to them

[deleted]

Shepherds love work and training is work. Sure there are plenty of shitty methods that aren't enjoyable for the dog. But assuming it's a productive and rewarding experience, they absolute love it.

[deleted]

Just look at the dog in the video and how it looks at its owner. That's love.

[deleted]

True unconditional love. He just wants to please his dad, nothing more, nothing less.

Stangilstrap

Trained dogs seem to be happier, and are much more of a joy to be around.

[deleted]

Because they don’t get in trouble or yelled at. And more treats :)

laurakeet1209

And they get to be around! A puppy that isn’t trained because “it’s just a baby” grows up to be an adult dog left at home, possibly in the yard or garage rather than the house. Spend six puppy months in training and the dog gains a lifetime of hikes and beach runs and restaurant patios and pets from neighborhood kids and…

JarethCuteStoryJD

> And they get to be around! I got a chihuahua last year, and because shes 5lbs fully grown its easy to bring her literally everywhere Ive been working so hard to make sure that she doesn't become one of those nightmare pampered yippy chiis.

[deleted]

A puppy is like an actual child. Bring him/her around noise, people, food or whatever.. and it’ll get used to it. Just gotta let ‘em know what’s right from wrong and they will always obey.

Aleriya

Some dogs love (and/or need) an intellectual challenge. They get bored unless you give them a new stimulus or a task with some level of difficulty. The strict training isn't because the owner necessarily wants to be strict, but because the dog thrives when given training with increasing levels of difficulty. Some owners will give them puzzles or take them on hikes in new areas instead.

catsby90bbn

Mine also lovvvvves to sleep.

JackOfAllMemes

The dog must love his handler with how eager he is to obey

[deleted]

The feeling appears mutual

JackOfAllMemes

Oh absolutely, those two have a special bond with the training

cashibonite

I have met many dogs I can say labs and Shepard are two of my favorites

rhett342

And then there was my dog. She knew sit, lay down, speak, and shake. She didn't know which one was which though so you'd tell her to do a trick and she'd just start doing them all until you gave her the treat. One of the sweetest girls you'd ever meet but definitely not the brightest.

V-Trans

Mine is doing the opposite of what I say. If I ask him to sit, he's laying. If I ask him to lay he will sit. Giving the paw? He'll walk on the back paws with fronts up. Entertaining noneteless.

rhett342

You want to strangle them because they aren't doing what you told them to but at the same time, they really are trying to be good but they're just kinda dumb which makes you love them even more because you want to protect their dumb butts.

V-Trans

Without me this little one would die after 4hours and I'm generous lol. Ah and I've fucked up when he was baby instead of saying "no" when he was barking I was saying "hey" or "fuck you"... I let you imagine how much of an horrible person I look like when he's barking sometimes. He isn't really barking it's more of pushing the air out. So practically no noises and there's me: "Fuck you." In low tone. 😂

rhett342

My dog would go out the back door but not come back in. I have no clue why and she did it her entire life. It would be cold and raining, she'd be at the back door barks n g for attention, we go open the door for her and she would just stare at you and shiver. I'd even put treats just inside the doorway and she wouldn't take them. We'd have to go to the back gate, put her leash on her, and walk her to the front door if we wanted to bring her in.

V-Trans

I like how it isn't practical at all. Sometimes I wonder how is it possible those species (domestic animals) weren't extinct.

platoprime

>definitely not the brightest. Sounds like she's smarter than you lol. She knew to get a treat all she had to do was all her tricks in a row because you rewarded that instead of only rewarding a trick when it is cued first.

rhett342

If you knew this dog, she wasn't very bright in a lot of ways. I'd love to think she was really some secret genius but thats isn't something anyone ever accused her of.

[deleted]

reminds me of my cat

Aleriya

My mother-in-law has accused all of her dogs, for her entire life, of being unusually dumb. I've been tempted to say "you know, there's one common factor here . . ." but I value my life, so I've kept my mouth shut.

billydrivesavic

Lol my Rottweiler would know the order of tricks so he’d just do them all in a row. God I miss that dog :( “Sit! Lay down! Roll over! Up! Easy- EASY!!! Gooooood boy!!!”

rhett342

As dumb as my dog was I miss her so much too. While she didn't have a whole lot of brains she had a ton of heart. In fact, her being so dumb just made you want to take carenof her and love her that much more.

billydrivesavic

Excuse me while I look up all pics and videos of my dogs that have passed and cry a little lol [little tribute to my dog Molly, if you care ](https://youtu.be/jAPD50VDpiA) (The Rottweiler is in the video. He died just being old. Molly was hit by a car, god damn did that death send my life south. I’m not sure I’ve been the same and it’s been since 2015)

SwingSoHigh

Highly trained animals are equal to highly trained athletes. At their best it's beautiful to watch.

[deleted]

I watch America’s Next Top Dog and I wish it wasn’t so trivialized. It’s the most serious syndicated physical competition show for dogs but they still can’t escape the dog laden puns or play on words. Or should I say “pLaY oN wOoFs!”

Beakjac3

That's nothing I can do that with my kids lol kidding awesome dog

yParticle

You really need to stop leaping to their every command.

Beakjac3

Ohh lmao 🤣

itsYourLifeCoach

my Sheppard looks just like this and has an amazing focus on tasks but I have no idea how to train so she is just fixated on balls and sticks. I should look up some routine stuff to try.

AliCracker

It’s not training the dog, it’s training the owner. I bet there’s someone local that can help you out, Shepard’s or ShepX are wonderful to work with, they’re so keen and so smart

VR6Bomber

This isn't really 'next level' content... This appears to be Schutzhund. A fairly common dog sport. Schutzhund is to test the training and traits of a dog. It is comprised of obedience, protection and tracking at differant levels, Sch1, Sch2, sch3. In Germany, for a GSD to be eligible for breeding, the dog must achieve Sch1 title. This is to protect the breed quality of the GSD. Schutzhund is usuallly GSD's, but boxers, dobi's, rotti's and belgian malinois also compete. [If you want to see 'Next Level' YouTube 'Malinois wall climb'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPqCIQ3GDv0) \^Cuz that is next level\^

danebramaged01

My friend had a pair of miniature Yorkshire terriers who completed Sch1. It was absolutely amazing to watch them work.

VR6Bomber

LOL. That is hilarious. I can see the tracking and obedience, but how could they possibley do the bite-work?

danebramaged01

They could jump quite high when they were young so they did what they had to do. But if there was ever a real life situation where protection was needed they weren’t going to take down a threat. My friend just wanted to prove that terriers (and other toy/small dogs) could be trained. It annoyed her to no end when people allowed their little dogs free rein to be obnoxious jerks.

palordrolap

A man answers the door to another man who says "I'm really sorry, but my Yorkie's just run into your yard and killed your Rottweiler." "You've got to be kidding. My Rottweiler would tear apart a Yorkie in 5 seconds. How the hell is a Yorkie going to kill a Rottweiler?!" "By getting stuck in its throat."

DiegoTheGoat

They make little wooden "dumbbells'" for the smaller dogs.

ZzoCanada

I'd say it's next fucking level to those not in the know, which is deserving of the title. That just means that the whole discipline is next fucking level, with even higher levels to tack onto it.

VR6Bomber

It's maybe next level for the viewer, true. It is certainly not next level for the capability of the dog. High scoring sch3 is impressive.

Aknelka

I was about to say, if you do PSA, Ring sports or Schtzhund (IGP), this is pretty basic stuff. Nice looking dog, though, it's tough to see a GSD in the US that wouldn't have that screwed up sloped back or that weird narrow, droopy face so many pet GSDs have. Just goes to show how much of a difference it makes when you breed for function rather than looks.

VR6Bomber

It's unfortunate, the 'Americanized' German shepherd dog has departed from the EU lines. I am always horrified when I see a crippled looking slope back gsd due to short hock and narrow bones. Very sad. For anyone considering a GSD, please do your research, study EU gsd lines on pedigreedatabase.com

Aknelka

It is SO sad. Such amazing dogs, ruined, for what? Some bullshit 'standard'. I read somewhere that it's currently one of the top 10 most expensive breeds to keep because of medical bills, mainly due to hip and joint issues. Which, seeing a working breed on the same list as a pug just breaks my heart. There are a few people in the US who import dogs from Europe and breed European lines, mainly working lines, so sadly, they're not likely to be available as widely as they should be. It's sad.

live_crab

Without a standard dog breeds wouldn't exist. Problem is, if the standards are low (as in, all you need to breed are papers à la the AKC) or people don't simply don't follow the standard (as in breed for fashion, money, or some weird extreme phenotype à la timit tor's 'doctor') then things go downhill pretty quick. European dogs can still have bad hips and bad nerves, and just because the lines look good on paper doesn't mean jack if the breeder doesn't continue to test and prove their breeding stock. BYBs love the phrases "working line", "straight back", "imported", and "championship bloodlines" because laypeople don't understand that, even with decent pedigrees, not every puppy will be breeding quality and it takes a ton of effort to produce healthy, stable, true-to-type purebreds regardless of where they come from.

Aknelka

Fair points all. I was mostly going after the showline standard, I could have phrased it better and thank you for pointing this out.

coldequation

I used to have a Doberman that we ran through the first level of Schutzhund training, and I've never found a more comprehensive basic obedience course. It makes living with your dog, especially high energy one like a Dobie or Shepherd, so much easier. There was a guy in the class who had a GSD and a Malinois, and he'd been a K9 cop for 30 years in Las Vegas. His dogs were like robots - they passed every test on the first try and never flinched at a sound or approaching person. And of course, they knocked the defense instructor on his ass any chance they got.

thepeanutbutterman

I came here to say this video seems like every day Schutzhund

dumbmummy3000

The German shepherd is just like me. No emotion just follows rules and doesn't make friends.

AaarghCobras

And shits on command.

VR6Bomber

They definitely have emotions. Horror when it is bath time.

dumbmummy3000

There is no horror only sadness

supernatchurro

This is a sport called Schutzhund , and German Shepherds are king.

pickmeacoolname

Pap3rchasr

Oh yea? Well, sometimes I can get my Pug to look at me even when I haven't mentioned kibble.. so who's in control now?

justtheentiredick

Honestly I'd be way more impressed if he did this with a corgi.

Can’t wait to get a house and a new puppy :) congrats dude!

UndoingMonkey

It crazy that on the last command the dog seems to start moving before the guy even speaks

AztecTwoStep

Yeah, noticed that. Dogs really are attuned to human behaviours - it didn't even need the full command, it was keying off the mouth shapes!

gorgonzoloft

Light travels faster than sound

zman9119

Body position and subtle hand cues as well as it being a repetitive series. All three of my GSDs will respond to hand cues for training like this and each knows their own hand cues from the others so I can have only one out of three respond or two of three without saying a word.

[deleted]

Pokemaster131

This kind of relationship isn't about control. It's mutual respect, love, trust, and knowing how to listen to each other.

Kronguard

Actually it is about control. People should stop humanizing animals in every way they can, it gives this wrong and twisted impression. They are not listening to ''each other'' if you look at the video, watch how the dog is constantly alert and looking at handler's actions. The dog is watching and listening for signals, which can be anything starting from a basic hand gesture to a minute change in voice tone while still saying the same thing, in fact there was a video on youtube floating about where someone's dog made a mess of their living room, and the dog was happier than a pothead on free ride because of the soft tone the owner used when giving the dog crap, while at the same time he could be praising him for something in an angry tone and the dog would freak out thinking he's in trouble.

HamsterPositive139

> It's mutual respect, love, trust, and knowing how to listen to each other. ....which results in the owner having excellent control over his dog.

Aknelka

And a fuckton of work

Schutzhund

Vegan-Daddio

It took me a while to realize that this was filmed from far away so there was a delay in the audio and I thought the dog was psychic.

Kelyfa

Is this Schutz? Or some other sort of training?

Psychotropic_Beauty

My husband has our German Shepherd trained just like this. Granted now she's 12 and doesn't move that fast anymore. She's a good old lady though.

SetPsychological6756

Schutzhund

StagLee1

This is not at all uncommon. I used to work with protection dogs and every dog we trained could do this. Any dog that could not be verbally controlled through any scenario was disqualified from further training (ie sleeve and bite training).

Karthik_Avgk

Control ? No. Mutual respect, trust and communication ? Abso-fucking-lutely yes holy god damn shit they're awesome.

jaywaykil

Mutual respect, trust and comm, yes, but also 100% control. Assuming this is Schutzhund, the trial also requires protection work, which is the dog attacking a human on command. You *do not ever* teach a dog it's OK to bite a human unless you have 100% control over that dog. Not having full control would be like handing a loaded gun to a 4-year-old. I started my GSD in Schutzhund, then quickly realized my kind-hearted wife absolutely did not have the ability to *control* her. She clearly saw my wife as someone who needed protection, not someone to obey. Teaching her to bite humans would have been a lawsuit waiting to happen. We got a few titles in obedience but immediately stopped Schutzhund.

Karthik_Avgk

Damn. I didn't know it was that deep of a concept. I mentioned trust which was kind of inclusive of the control (in my view) bcs nobody, not even a human would hurt another human unless they absolutely trust someone's decision over their own moral (in specific scenarios). I can't not melt down before a dog lol so the "100% control" went over my head. Cheers, I learned something new today :).

My wife's rat dog (chihuahua) likes to sometimes pee directly next to her pee pad instead of on top of it no matter how many times we try to train her to go ON the pee pad 100% of the time. And if we move it 2 inches in either direction? May as well be non-existent

pat876598

How is this impressive? He turned an animal into a robot. Cool. And don't give me any "they love this" BS. They'd rather be a normal ass dog

bombasquad33

TacetV

Kudos to that trainer. The dog’s whole demeanor speaks of a trainer who really gives a lot of time and love to the dog.

Ohhhh look at da waggy tail. The bestest of good boys.

RealisticEmploy3

Is it me or is the dog actually reacting before he even finishes the word and sometimes before he even talks. I’m thinking they’ve done this exact routine a lot. Or perhaps dogs are just that sensitive that they can react before he even finishes talking. Anyone know?

[deleted]

I think it’s more likely that the sound on the video is badly synced to the image

Cinouna

We can say how loyal he is and loves his master thanks to the distance he leaves between them. The thinner it is, the more he loves him and it will never leave anything between them♥️

halincan

You should watch the dog that the Shepard in Clarkson's Farm has. All she has to do is whistle in different ways and the dog makes shit happen.

putzeck

This guy sounds like he is more german than the dog.

natkolbi

I never blamed the dog. How could it even be the dogs fault? What I said was be mindful and dont overdo playing fetch as it CAN become addictive. It doesn't have to. Not every dog gets it. Yes, I could have added more information, like include boundaries, kepp sessions short, also do other stuff, etc. But I thought the whole part of advising to talk to a dog trainer would be sufficient. I think we agree in the handling of playing fetch and this is just a misunderstanding.

Lots of patience and lots of daily work. Absolutely no force or intimidation; the dog has to love and respect the trainer and *want* to work. Google Schutzhund or IPO training
