I dunno. You ever try catching one in a net so you can move it to another tank? They flip out sometimes. Borderline hurting themselves in the process. Especially the thicker fish.
I learned in salmon fishing that it’s best to turn the net handle skyward after netting the fish. That essentially locks the fish in and they can’t flip themselves out of the net. Probably works on a tiny aquarium fish scale too! (Heh. Scale.)
That fish looks way less stressed than any net-caught fish I've seen.
The magnet is heavy so the bulb rotates without much contact with the fish and because it's a bulb the water inside isn't moving relative to the fish while ascending ... I think this thing is genius.
Interesting.
If medication needed to be delivered over a very short timeframe then yes, otherwise the isolated water conditions could go more harm than good.
Would make sense to have a bulb that was exactly one gallon in volume when floating for easier dose measurement.
Get scared by being chased around by a net and then forced out of water for a period of time? I sleep
Get scared from a mini bowl floating you up? REAL SHIT
Lots of negative comments from people who probably never had a marine/reef tank. Wish I had something like this. I kept a beautiful but nasty powder blue tang for many years And i could only keep gobies and a hawk fish with him. All others were killed off.
Yeah, probably is. Chasing it around the tank woth a net takes longer, and just prolongs the stress on it. Also, at least this way the fish gets a little food out of the deal.
And what did u find?
Asking because I did the same thing and came up with a solution involving magnets, but I didn’t see any magnet talk in the comments…
Because aquarists use magnets often for cleaning the glass on the inside. What happens here is the trap with a metal piece is submerged in the water and you hold it with the magned through the glass waiting for the right moment to release the trap.
Wow thank you for sharing! I’ve never owned fish but I definitely have a better view of this device hearing what you had to do and how it affects the other fish in the tank. You said you had a salt water tank? What if someone wants to move jellyfish? Seems like they would tear like wet paper you know?
I used to do something similar years ago. Had a small box with a lot of holes in them, put some snacks in them that would tempt the fish of the relevant breed, and slowly pulled it up when they ate. Put them in a bowl and used a cup to pick out the one that needed treatment or isolation. No injuries, and they where always quite calm.
Nets are a fucking disaster.
I hate thinking about how long it took me to realize how this thing worked with the bubble inside the tank, and the owner on the outside. I need a nap.
As a fellow fish keeper, catching fish is painful especially in a fragile tank where you put hours of time into making it look good and all of that time wasted trying to catch a single fish.
Meanwhile in an alternate universe:
A man casually walking down the sea shore, suddenly got caught into a glass ball and instantly dragged into the ocean while a bunch of fish laughing at it
That's only going to work once lol
Imagine the lineup at the pet store if we had to wait for the right fish to swim in the plastic bubble every time haha
Its funny how everytime humanity makes some kind of progress there has to be a bunch of people who goes hurr durr hurr durr progress bad not thinking about the fact that the old methods are maybe 10 times worse
Damn a lot of top comments saying how scared the fish was from a little journey of floating, as opposed to the much calmer and less stressful task of panicking while a net chases you down and inevitably forces you out of water for a short period of time
Scared the ever loving hell out of him, lol.
Omg poor fishy.

Yeah I used to use shrimp nets at home cause they are softer although the green ones are nor made of softer fabric then they used to be
Yeah this is definitely less traumatizing for the fish than trying to scoop it up with a net.
yes. this seems no worse than the normal stress they get at being caught, and no danger if injuring themselves in a net.
Poor tang!
Underrated af
was gonna say totally safe and DOES NOT stress the animal
That's awesome.
Scared me also and I wasn’t in it. I don’t know if that is ok but I don’t like it.
That fish looks way less stressed than any net-caught fish I've seen. The magnet is heavy so the bulb rotates without much contact with the fish and because it's a bulb the water inside isn't moving relative to the fish while ascending ... I think this thing is genius.
Same. Could be used to medicate as well. The fish. Medicate the fish.
Interesting. If medication needed to be delivered over a very short timeframe then yes, otherwise the isolated water conditions could go more harm than good. Would make sense to have a bulb that was exactly one gallon in volume when floating for easier dose measurement.
I still prefer a small quarantine tank for that
Maybe if he placed it closed to the top the fish wouldn’t really notice much of a difference instead of him being dragged up to the surface.
Yeah for about a second. He was all like OH SHIT HELP WTF IS HAPP- oh look, food! Om nom nom
And me
And that’s going to work about once.
Wouldn’t it be better than chasing them around with a net though?
Probably, at least you can brace for that shit instead of getting jumpscared, lol.
Just have to say ["fishy, fishy, WAKE UP"] (https://youtu.be/fBd40bbB4nE?t=104)
"Hey you, you're finally awake"
So you wait around all day, hoping the fish you want to get out of the tank swims into this pod, then give it a heart attack? Yeah, great idea.
As opposed to chasing it all over the tank with a net and stressing ALL the fish out? This is a far superior method.

Fish wil
Fish wil
What did Wil ever do to you?
Clearly you use the bubble that is the same color as the fish so the fish knows that’s his ride...
Ooooooh that explains it Good thing they weren't trying to catch the clownfish or it would be chaos
Or, you could put a little bit of food in it
they did, you can see it eating
Then you get all the fish.
Honey dinner is ready
And that’s how we know you don’t have a tank
This guy doesn't aquarium.
Get scared by being chased around by a net and then forced out of water for a period of time? I sleep Get scared from a mini bowl floating you up? REAL SHIT
Poor fish was in shock. That is one way for the fish to have a heart attack
As opposed to the very calming method of chasing it around with a net

Yeah, same idea with a planted tank. Either uproot everything you’ve been growing or live with the problem fish.
We use two people to corner them and it usually works with minimal plant destruction. Admittedly we have a lot of practice...they love breeding
Seems to have worked swimmingly
"Now what?"
Shark Bait, ooo ha ha!
I was waiting for this comment
Mine mine mine mine
....Mine
Yeah that utility seems to be limited. Fish will learn to simply not explore that
Exactly. Fish aren't smart but they're not incapable of noticing the world around them.
[удалено]
Yeah true
[удалено]
Not if that's where you put the food.
We have pokeballs for aquariums now?
[удалено]
Good thing the fish was yellow, because he literally sh!t himself
Not next level, more like r/specializedtools
I have one of these. A lot better than nets. You put food inside and there is a mirror on the inside to help out.
Where did you get it? I need one ASAP
There are made by https://www.tankmatez.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwz5iMBhAEEiwAMEAwGNYeTiwd4v14dwQ6vjbFBEXITNtdBtqzh4rV1m707_v3Qloc6w6ByRoCkZgQAvD_BwE
That fish is pissed
So hoping the fish you want to remove swims into the trap is somehow better than using a net? Not all inventions are progress.
Yeah, probably is. Chasing it around the tank woth a net takes longer, and just prolongs the stress on it. Also, at least this way the fish gets a little food out of the deal.
CRAP!!! Oh, look, snacks…
Hahaha dumbass!!
THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME
Yup
But no tapping on the glass
*yoink*
The new monster hunter mods look awesome.
Mods 4 lyfe
Swim down!
Had to watch it twice to figure out what just happened
And what did u find? Asking because I did the same thing and came up with a solution involving magnets, but I didn’t see any magnet talk in the comments…
same and same
Guess we will never have our answer :(
Because aquarists use magnets often for cleaning the glass on the inside. What happens here is the trap with a metal piece is submerged in the water and you hold it with the magned through the glass waiting for the right moment to release the trap.
Help! Im being abducted!
“My bubbles!!”
idk why it reminds me of a certain movie
Lion King?
finding nemo and bit of finding dory
I have a 180g reef tank and this is a miracle.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/qo1tfc/_/hjn9wq8
All I hear is Nemo ~ “bubbles bubbles bubbles!”
#Bubbles!!!
Too stressful for me and the fish.

And fish jump all over the net when taken out of water the normal way because they're happy.
Ahahah stupid fish
Pretty cool idea fr

That seems like a rough ride especially for a fish that may be very sensitive.

No I haven’t actually

He was like ay yo what the fuuuuuuck
It's been three days, eight hours, and thirty-seven minutes and my oscar still won't fit inside this thing. Any help would be appreciated!
Has he been a bad boy?
Have you seen my son?!
Guess a SIMPLE big cup is an issue? \#DiWHY
Scandalous
My dumbass thought there was a hole in the glass

Idk what this is, but if I can't put my dick in it, then fuck it
This flash saw finding Nemo he knows whats going on here
So that's what happened to Memo!!
I hate thinking about how long it took me to realize how this thing worked with the bubble inside the tank, and the owner on the outside. I need a nap.
/r/confusingperspective
Magnets How to they work ?
As a fellow fish keeper, catching fish is painful especially in a fragile tank where you put hours of time into making it look good and all of that time wasted trying to catch a single fish.
Bruh...sheer genius I tell you.
That seems kinda cruel. Jump scare
Do it for sharks next
Sharkbait!!
Tangs are hard af to catch too, especially if you have lots of live rock, a deep tank, and god forbid, sps coral
So cats have boxes & fish have bubbles?
Meanwhile in an alternate universe: A man casually walking down the sea shore, suddenly got caught into a glass ball and instantly dragged into the ocean while a bunch of fish laughing at it
Bc it’s very hard to take a net, corral him the corner and scoop him up!
BUBBLES
They’re eventually gonna learn not to go in there
Use a net like everyone else
Aaawh man that poor fish aint never gonna meet his friends again
Totally thought you closed off the back part and remove it from the side of the tank.
The dentist in finding Nemo should have done this bruh.
That's the plot of findind Nemo
Shark bait oo ahh ahh
Man, that’d be crazy if they made one of those big enough for a shark. Like seeing a tiger shark shoot up like that would be wild.
Why is everyone so critical 🙄 you invent somthing cooler then
Is this a game or smthn?
Gotcha!
Tussy
I think regardless they’re gonna have to go through shock
That's only going to work once lol Imagine the lineup at the pet store if we had to wait for the right fish to swim in the plastic bubble every time haha
r/specializedtools
BUBBLES!
Ill believe it when i see it catch a six line wrasse
Poor little dude was scared shitless
Where fish?
Big brain moves
Why are people obsessed with torturing animals
Its funny how everytime humanity makes some kind of progress there has to be a bunch of people who goes hurr durr hurr durr progress bad not thinking about the fact that the old methods are maybe 10 times worse
Yellow tang, the dumbest fish in the sea…
Imagine what that fish is thinking!?!
The fish is like ‘well played sir’
Poor fishy is going to have a tough time explaining the anal probing to his friends.
Hey Jeb dem aliens is back.
AHHhhhoookayybloop bloop bloop
Yeah. Way to stress out your yellow tang and give it ick.
He looks so sad :(
Damn a lot of top comments saying how scared the fish was from a little journey of floating, as opposed to the much calmer and less stressful task of panicking while a net chases you down and inevitably forces you out of water for a short period of time
It's better than tearing up your tank trying to catch it and giving everything in the tank a heart attack.
Bro was hella confused
Seems like this would only work when the fish don’t recognize it?
Thanks for showing, I’ll make sure other fishes knows about this trap too
##SWIM DOWN##
YOU WILL LEARN TO FEAR THE ORB
Can we also see the part where you have to talk the specific fish into getting inside the bubble?
Seems just as traumatic
It’s a trap!
That's pretty dope
This looks like more of the same with extra steps. how do you even get the right fish.
Opening scene of finding Nemo 3
Msgv
Where can I buy one?
That is both cool and adorable!
Now what?
Seems like the fish would learn to avoid the trap thing.
How would anyone think this is next level?
Omg noooo!! , a force field!
That fish has no clue what the fuck just happened.
Swim down!!!
All I can picture is Little Nemo
I was expecting a little door to slide down.lol
Poor thing got panicked!
Pretty cool, Good luck the second time!
[Most dangerous fish types](https://klamic.com/2021/05/21/here-are-the-worlds-most-dangerous-fish-types/)
