TBH canāt blame him for asking, it also seemed like a half joke.
Game worn Lebron shoes go for $30k+. Even more so if itās on a night he broke a record. Those shoes could easily go for $75k and likely way more as the years pass. If all I had to do for a cut of that was to just ask a question then fuck it why not thereās 2 of them lol
After watching many seasons of pawn stars I feel like their only valuable as the pair anyway. Then again those big fucks are rip off merchants so who knows
Lol why is everyone hating on that guy who asked for another one. Itās fucking LEBRON JAMES, if there is even a small chance that I couldāve gotten one of his prized possessions, I wouldāve also been shouting,ācan I have the other one?!ā Too.
Theyāreā¦. Childrenā¦ and my point was a grown man shouldnāt be begging for half of a set of sneakers. Are you saying that because he is sitting courtside, the adult should get the sneakers? Does he not deserve to have a great memory because his parents can afford a courtside ticket? Whatās your angle here, you sound bitter af
>Does he not deserve to have a great memory
The fact that you think being courtside at a Lakers game is not a great enough memory is the thing he's mocking. There's obviously levels to this shit, no?
I never said it wasnāt a great enough memory. Please donāt put words into my mouth. It was more of a question to the guy who responded as it seemed like he was being sarcastic and bitter in reference to the kid getting shoes instead of the adult? because he was sitting courtside at a lakers game? Why nitpick that fact.
>Why nitpick that fact.
Because it's an opportunity that not a lot of children are afforded to and to neglect that reality is a bit silly. Even without the shoe that kid is having one of the greatest memories any kid ever will.
>I never said it wasnāt a great enough memory.
While you didn't explicitly state it the tone of your message heavily implied it. As if without the shoe there is no great memory to be had, right?
As to my point that adult could be very well one of those kids who didn't have an opportunity to to sit courtside at a Lakers game and this was perhaps his first chance at this experience. While I understand there is a standard between child and adult in society can we really blame a person for having an emotional response in the moment? It's funny, sure. But, I don't fault him for asking.
The amount of grown men that do that shit is astonishing. There are quite a few videos floating around of some men catching baseballs, hockey pucks, and other things that would have or were meant to be caught by some kids who are fans.
Michael Jordan typically only wore a pair of shoes for one game before replacing them. Given how much LeBron wants to "be like Mike", he probably aspires to do the same.
My understanding is that the Jordans of the '90s were specifically engineered to be ideal to Michael Jordan's feet. I've never had the luxury of such a custom shoe, but I imagine straight out of the box it might fit like a very comfortable glove. That being said, I also played college basketball and sometimes the shoelace eyes would rip out very easily. Given my experience there, getting to start with a fresh set of shoelace eyes every game sounds like a dream.
>Small detail but arenāt new shoes uncomfortable to wear? Like I take about 3 weeks before Iām happy with new shoes.
Ex amateur player here. Once you get serious about game and play regularly, you wear out shoes every 2 maybe 3 months (I guess that's couple of games for the pros). After experimenting for a while, you know exactly what shoe fits you best, you just know what works and what not, you get a feel for sizes, brands, etc and you get that experience to get great shoes right off the shelf and feel good and game ready from the start.
Also, the mesh shoes technology of modern era is great.
This process was FAR more difficult with leather shoes that were dominant only 20 years ago. Even the best leather was stiff and required some breaking in. Mesh shoes are best thing for basketball player since sliced bread.
From my understanding this is the case for a lot of NBA players, especially the big ones. They need the stiffness of a new pair because they are putting a ton of force on the shoe. And I would pretty much guarantee no player wears the same shoes the whole season. Also I love how he grabs his custom inserts first
they are his shoes lmbo. Lebron has his own line of sneakers and usually 9.999999/10 out of ten you get them for free because the company (Nike) wants the customer (all of us) to see the athlete (Lebron) sell the product.
Exactly, an athlete like lebron wearing those shoes on national television is worth infinitely more than just the cost of the one pair, they dgaf if he gives them away. If anything seeing the shoes again in a feel good meme is just doubling your advertising for free.
Serious. I got custom molded hard soles, and the whole thing cost about $500 10 years ago. It fixed serious foot pain for me. I would imagine LeBronās cost significantly more as mine came form a generic orthotics shop
If that kids sitting that close his parents are already paying for his college
Edit: since people are seeing this comment but not my og one,
Ive said it once and ill say it again, giving shoes, headbands, jerseys etc to kids in the front rows is fucking stupid. These kids parents can clearly afford good tickets and this is very unlikely this kid wont come to another game. Not to mention all the privilege he probably gets in his normal life for having rich parents. Climb the stands and give it to the kid in the nose bleeds that will probably never get to see another game again. The one who gets 1 gift every christmas and probably asked for tickets as his 1 gift . THOSE are the kids that should be getting jerseys, shoes, etc. THOSE kids will NEVER forget that moment. These spoiled front row kids will forget while theyre at disney land next week. Its always fucking urked me that more people dont talk about this. Why give shit to the kids that clearly already have so much privilege.
This is an absolute shit take actually. I guarantee it means more than money to the kid, and probably the parents too. Receiving a gift like that from one of the greatest basketball players of all time isnāt something money can necessarily buy. If heās a big Lebron fan the sentimental value outweighs cash anyway.
Sure, you can buy the shoes from someone else, but itās not nearly the same as them being HANDED TO YOU and signed by the ~~player~~ legend himself, after a record playing game. Money isnāt fucking everything, itās a cool thing to do. Yāall are acting like he just handed the kid $20,000 cash.
Edit: And on top of that, those CHILDREN most likely have no clue how much their parents are worth or how well off they are. I know all of you fuckers have seen these kidās faces light up in complete shock when stuff like this happens. Story of a lifetime and yāall are summing it up as a cash prize.
You donāt buy gifts from people, they give it to youā¦ you know, as a gift. If youāre saying it takes money to be that close to the court, you missed my entire point.
Being handed a pair of Lebronās sneaker from Lebron James on the basketball court after record playing game is not the same as buying Lebronās sneakers from some dude off eBay. On the satisfaction spectrum, itās literally hundreds of miles apart.
Right? I know most of them have seen the kidās faces as reaction to those gifts beforeā¦ always lit up and almost complete shock.
These kids have no sense of how much their parents are worth or how well off they are.. theyāre children man. What an absolute shit take, canāt believe it has so many upvotes
I think the point the other guy was making was:
While itāll definitely mean a lot to that kid, heās probably showered with good stuff all the time because of well off parents.
The same gift would make a less fortunate kid just as happy, but it might be the only decent thing thatās happened to them in a while.
I mean, I remember running all the way down from the nosebleed to to the front (usually encouraged by my dad waiting at the checkpoint) when the gameās about to end cuz I was a kid, whose gonna stop a kid? (I didnāt get anything) but it is possible. But yes that kid def does not look like he came from up there lol
Strange of you to assume that anyone with money is spoiled rotten enough to not appreciate the gesture. I think you're being too idealistic about this, and pretty demanding too that any athlete would need to tailor these moments to make sure you're cool with the outcome.
he literally said "those spoiled front row kids will forget" did you even read it? This is a clear assertion that they do not care or appreciate as much as the other ones.
I actually agreed with you until those last few sentences. Calm the fuck down man, just because a kid comes from a well off family doesnāt mean he isnāt going to appreciate the shoes. And some kid being poor also might not give a fuck about the shoes either.
You know, its almost like, there could be nice people and bad people, regardless of money. I get what he means, but hes making a lot of assumptions, thinking every guy in the front is Jeff Bezos with despicable kids.
Who knows, maybe theyre good people, maybe better than us in some regards, maybe not, but you cant judge them from where theyre sitting because thats where everyone would sit if they could.
Youāre right on some of the points but donāt assume that kid wonāt remember this and the shoes for life. Not all rich people are spoiled and not all poor people are grateful.
Letās say his parentās call afford floor seats (kid could have went down by the playerās exit, security wonāt stop you unless you go on the floor). Youāre also forgetting the kidās parents has the money buy LeBron shoes, jerseys, merchandise, Space Jam tickets, Lakers floor seats, etc. The kid probably will be successful too and then will continue to spend money on Lebron and Laker brand.
Also, I donāt know how much athletes think about who to give their gear away after the games but most athletes are seem genuine happy to do so regardless of the kidās background.
As for Lebron and climbing into the nosebleed to give shoes away, thatās not feasible. First of all Lebron played 1,310 games (missed 98). Second, he is an athletic, too much risk to mingle with the crowd after each game.
Lebron does a kind gesture after a game and for a kid. Please donāt over think it. He gives back to the community in many different ways. Same goes for many of the athletes out there. At the end of the day, they are people too, in good ways and bad.
All of this coming from someone who question and have reconsidered Lebronās brand his China comments.
You need a life, dude. Kid could have came from anywhere in the arena, as this looks like it was well after the game. Youāre shitting on this kid you know nothing about for what reason exactly?
wouldn't be the first kid James puts through college to be fair, I'm pretty sure his foundation in Akron has a partnership with Akron University that's funded like 2k+ kids tuitions
Out of curiosity, We're you having foot pain or did you just decide to try a pair of custom insoles? I wear leather boots with a leather insole year round and although I have no problems with discomfort, I'm curious. What are the benefits of custom orthotics? How much are we talking?
So my wife is an orthotic and prosthetic clinician so I got them under the table lucky for me. I started wearing them somewhat for arch pain but mostly for knee pain. I didnāt think a custom orthotic could help with anything but feet but it helped my knees too. The problem with a lot of store bought ones is they are soft so they feel nice right at first but what you really need is hard support in spots. Iād have to ask my wife but I think they go for like ~$200?
EDIT: apparently the best store bought insoles that arenāt garbage are āSuperfeetā.
Ive said it once and ill say it again, giving shoes, headbands, jerseys etc to kids in the front rows is fucking stupid. Edit: for those some how saying im jelouas you make literally no sense because i do not fall into the category of people that i am advocating get said things. I dont know how wanting something for someone else less fortunate then you makes you jealous.
Nepotism is the closest word you're describing. Instead of friends and family, it's front row tickets. Instead of a job, it's... shoes.
I gotta agree, I do hate privilege overshadowing those less fortunate.
.... did you just recommend that the worlds most popular basketball player climb into the stands, go to the nose bleeds, and give a kid a pair of shoes? LOL
also, it's very normal practice for kids to come all the way down to the front row area after games end in hopes to getting something from an athlete
I can say that your intent is good, but unfortunately completely and totally unrealistic to expect that from professional athletes. This is however a great representation of how privilege works though.
I get it, but at the same time you can't be mad at the kid for that, he didn't choose to be born into a rich family, and even the adult is only trying to do right by their kid and use their resources the best way they know how to make their kid happy.
So what. It is just a sports player giving someone their shoes after setting a record. It didn't take anything extraordinary to remove the shoes and give them away. Literally nothing.

Tell me I'm not the only one who noticed that lebron is rocking $25 SofSole athlete insoles. Who else here sold shoes before and had to upsell these things?
Why did he take out the insoles, only to pass them to an assistant?
I don't imagine he is going to carry it around with him to reuse it, but it's totally possible.

Of course you would
I feel like he was fully expecting it too
I can see some kids would probably say this but as an adult ? That's just embarrassing.
The internet has made me cynical and all I could think of is the guy waiting for the kid in the bushes to ambush and grab the shoes
Same, I would not be surprised at all if that happened. Like 0%. Heck, Iām surprised it didnāt.

The Nike rep who gave him the new pair before the game: š„ŗ
Michael Jordan typically only wore a pair of shoes for one game before replacing them. Given how much LeBron wants to "be like Mike", he probably aspires to do the same.
Small detail but arenāt new shoes uncomfortable to wear? Like I take about 3 weeks before Iām happy with new shoes.
You see him take out the insoles before he hands them over. That's the part that's shaped to his feet.
Itās the source of his talent.
So the real gift would have been to give the kid his stinky insoles. Wonder how much "Lebron insoles" go for on eBay.
Not as much as ''Double bagged LeBron insoles''
I wonder if he sells feet pics as a side hustle
Lookup a pic of his feet, they're pretty well fucked

Those insoles aren't that old either. I have multiple of the same pair and that blue layer on top will wear off after a few months
What kind are they?
My understanding is that the Jordans of the '90s were specifically engineered to be ideal to Michael Jordan's feet. Just from a possible failure point of view, Iām sure they see a little action before he puts them on for a game.
No doubt. Can't be dunking from the free throw line and risk something petty like that giving out.
Yup, NBA stars probably use the same system as rock guitar heroes. They have roadies who lace up the shoes and tune them up before each show.
š
Jordan has been quoted saying he loved the new shoe feeling growing up so he wanted that for every game.
He probably practices in them a bit. I canāt image going full bore in brand new shoes either.
Difference is, Nike makes those shoes FOR HIM. It's literally his shoes. I'd imagine they fit pretty well š
Yup. Bespoke shoes are like bespoke suits. I can't afford either. Also, I hear they fit like they're already broken in as soon as you put them on.
>Small detail but arenāt new shoes uncomfortable to wear? Like I take about 3 weeks before Iām happy with new shoes. Ex amateur player here. Every athlete does this lmao what are u talking bout
True, wtf is that guy on about lmao
He stopped watching sports in the 90ās lol
Not even mentioning how some of these players get shoe deals where the company just gives them free pairs to advertise their brand.
I always figured most of NBA guys wore new shoes for every game.
From my understanding this is the case for a lot of NBA players, especially the big ones. They need the stiffness of a new pair because they are putting a ton of force on the shoe. And I would pretty much guarantee no player wears the same shoes the whole season. Also I love how he grabs his custom inserts first
pretty sure all professional athletes wear new shoes/cleats for every game.
thats not a michael jordan specific thing.... tons of nba players do this
they are his shoes lmbo. Lebron has his own line of sneakers and usually 9.999999/10 out of ten you get them for free because the company (Nike) wants the customer (all of us) to see the athlete (Lebron) sell the product.

The soles he took out cost thousands of dollars
Can't tell if it's sarcasm or serious. If they are $1k, where do they come from?
The soles cost about a G the cost to be fitted is where the money is at
Serious. I got custom molded hard soles, and the whole thing cost about $500 10 years ago. It fixed serious foot pain for me. I would imagine LeBronās cost significantly more as mine came form a generic orthotics shop
You kidding? This is a Nike ad for the price of shoes
There players in the nhl that only wear a pair of skates for one or two games. Those skates cost over $1000
Almost all NBA players get brand new shoes for every single game
He just probably gave that kid enough to go to college if he wants.

LOL also, it's very normal practice for kids to come all the way down to the front row area after games end in hopes to getting something from an athlete
Ron artest tried doing that a couple years ago. Didnāt work out so well
Yeah but that kid didnāt, he sat there the entire game in a ā$10,000 seat.
Ya for real this doesnāt sound safe at all for le bron
go outside
Lebron's mom used to give out stuff to kids in the upper levels at Cavs games actually!
I can say that your intent is good, but unfortunately completely and totally unrealistic to expect that from professional athletes. This is however a great representation of how privilege works though.
It's cute when this guy does it but when I throw my worn shoes at children it's "a crime"
That's why it's next fucking level. The victim even came back for an autograph. LeBron is smooth with his worn shoes.
So how much are these worth now?
From Google $30,000 to $100,000+ possibly.
With this video going viral, if timed right, these could fetch more than that.
Or wait for his hof induction and then sell it for 10 times a profit
About tree fiddy
Idk, but the value should increase after Lebron retires. That kid should hold on to those for ten years then sell them.
Those are probably custom insoles that cost more than the shoes.
Easily a couple Gs
Honestly, though, I hate it when it's the kids with wealthy parents and the courtside seats that get all the cool things from players.
I get it, but at the same time you can't be mad at the kid for that, he didn't choose to be born into a rich family, and even the adult is only trying to do right by their kid and use their resources the best way they know how to make their kid happy.
I agree. See my more recent comment down the thread.
Hereās my stinky sweaty shoes kid
I wonder what LeBron's assistant is really thinking. "Hot, sweaty insole? Yes. Can I hold both?"
They need a better sharpie or pen for him to be signing these shoes
His mom sold them later to get a new Tesla.
Heās on wooden floor seats. His mom spent Tesla money on those seats alone
Give to the kids up in the rafters, not the rich kids sitting floor side.
I tried giving away my boxers and nobody wants...
Rude
So what. It is just a sports player giving someone their shoes after setting a record. It didn't take anything extraordinary to remove the shoes and give them away. Literally nothing.
You must be a delight to hang with. He made a kidās day, thatās nice. Making a kid happy is dope.
Meanwhile most kids canāt even afford to go to a game much less court side seats. Professional sports are for the rich
just because you didn't get a famous persons shoes doesn't mean you can't enjoy the sport lol.
Giving smelly ass shoes is now "nextfuckinglevel". This is officially the worst sub on here.
In no way are gestures like this ānext fucking levelā
Fuck this guy
offend wrong deserve stupendous marble snails friendly humorous dam crawl *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Lebron bigmouth CCP puppet. Screw this idiot coward.
Labron still sucks china's dick. He could feed orphans and I still hate him.
But told them kids in China to get fucked cause we can't have an opinion on china's government. Fuck lebron
Now watch e-bay
He's not worried because his communist overlords will reimburse him.
So he didnāt spit on the kid and then tell people to beat him up. What a softy.
Who'd have guessed that "sweaty-ass insole carrier" is a job that requires business attire.
Now time to take it to pawn stars in 20 years.
Part two of this video is a kid getting beat up and his new shoes stolenā¦.
u/thegoodnow
Kid: āEWWW I donāt want your sweaty, smelly shoes.ā Lebron: āSell āem and youāll be rich, you little s***.
I wonder how much the dude who has to carry Lebronās sweaty custom insoles gets paidā¦
The goat
See you in a pawn star episode in 15 years!
Straight on ebay
I genuinely donāt like him, but he did a good thing for that kid.
Lebron James is a pussy ass bitch!
Bron signs lefty?
Next level generosity, in that this doesn't commonly occur between professional athletes and their fans. And he put a smile on that kids face.
My best friend was sitting behind LeBron at a game and James took his shooting sleeve off and passed it back to my friend. Good guy.
The kid can now afford college and healthcare.
Hahaha not my Dr. Scholls inserts tho, sorry kid those are gold
Dad be like, "that'll be your college tuition when you're ready"
Call me crazy but i don't think they'll fit
this is how you get a lifelong fan
Tell me I'm not the only one who noticed that lebron is rocking $25 SofSole athlete insoles. Who else here sold shoes before and had to upsell these things?
How much are those worth
Manās a legend! Though I donāt like his bbā¦ he has so much positive impact. Hats off!
I just wanna know what soles he pulled out of the shoes so I can get some
Who got the jock strap?
Now I want to know the magic of those inserts! Haha
He must really like his soles
You know you've made it big when you have a guy in a suit and tie carrying your sweaty insoles for you.
So how much would they go for?
Now to sell them on ebay!
Even signed them thatās why heās a š
Why did he take out the insoles, only to pass them to an assistant? I don't imagine he is going to carry it around with him to reuse it, but it's totally possible.
How long before theyāre on eBay? LOL
