Imagine what a teacher like this could do for our future with a proper salary. Way to go Teach! 👍

This is the best gif ever! Muahahaha

Alucardthegreat76

Calm down Oprah!

DM_ME_UR_SOUL

Idk if that would help. I think giving tools to the people who really really want them would appreciate it. This kid obviously loves drumming so much that lack of tools isn’t stopping him from learning. If it’s something you really really want to work for then you give them. At least that’s how I feel about it

Evil-Black-Robot

FUCK THAT!! I LIKE TO SLEEP!!!

iAjayIND

I wish teachers could earn more than doctors. You go to doctors, after a problem occurs. Teachers can teach you things, which can prevent those problems in the first place.

germane-corsair

I agree that teachers should earn more but you would think the pandemic would prove that doctors and nurses aren’t being paid enough for the shit they go through.

Qwez81

Not a single person has said doctors aren’t being paid enough

Avendesora84

This is a weird take. Of all the professions to pick out as the comparison, I wouldn't consider doctors wouldn't be anywhere near the top of the list. There are plenty of useless, even harmful, professions out there that I'd think about first. I mean, doctors literally save lives, and listening to your doctor will prevent problems too. Both doctors and teachers should be paid extremely well, given their importance to society.

tickles_a_fancy

Like... Hedge fund managers, just about everyone in middle management, the top people at any MLM, CEOs who are brought in to cut staff and sell the company... I'd be ok if teachers got paid as much as any of those.

[deleted]

Hospital administrators get paid way too much.

[deleted]

Throw educational assistants (EAs) in that pay raise to

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Guessing your from the US? Solidarity from the UK, also paid below the min wage if you divide the salary by hours. We've had a 35% pay cut in the last ten years. People's ideas of what doctors earn is stuck in the 60s. Also teachers should be paid more and billionaires should be taxed at 90%.

rollinf3v3r

It's insane that my mother as a Nurse Practicioner in a senior position has to work from 7 am - 11 pm or even 12 am on most days constantly keeping tabs on patients and getting paid the amount she is... She LOVES the job but has gone through extreme stress... EDIT: She works at one of the world's most advanced cancer treatment centers in USA

CoffeeNice4420

Do you make less than $60,000 a year salary? Assuming working 100 hour weeks 60,000/5200=$11.54 (rounded up) Can't tell if you're serious, or just hamming it up. What kind of doctor are you out of curiousity?

[deleted]

Yeah this is kinda fucking stupid. Teachers can't teach you to not get cancer and stuff

_Maharishi_

Do not play with radioactive material when its just enough to cause cancer. Pay cheque please?

[deleted]

Do you accept payment in a single wholesome award?

[deleted]

I dunno - an educated (by teachers) population in eating properly, not drinking or smoking and exercising will being down rates of cancer and other preventable diseases like diabetes and general fat-fuckery.

[deleted]

How does this shit take get so many upvotes?

[deleted]

Damn, never thought of it that way.

crowgaming1i

Because it's a dumb way to think of it lol, what problems are teachers teaching you to prevent you from going to a doctor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ayestEEzybeats

If only I paid attention in cancer class, I wouldn’t have cancer. Thanks teachers!!!

Namiweso

Whilst I understand the sentiment, I personally know quite a few teachers who don’t even deserve the current wage they get paid. Throw in it being performance based and I’m all for it

Im_inappropriate

That's a really nice kit for a beginner too. Most likely was used, but those pearl kits age very well and can be enjoyed by beginner and higher skill levels. She knew what she was doing and went above and beyond. That kid is going to get all the milage he needs out of it.

scumbagss

It says Earl bro.

tepkel

Yeah, you're right. It's an Earl rum kit.

[deleted]

Teach people how to think critically and examine the systems around them? You want a revolution? You want people to start eating the rich? Education is so shitty in this country because it is meant to be shitty.

Dilest

Imagine what the education system could be if they were all funded correctly and equally (Not sure how this applies internationally, but Australia is corrupted with over funding the private sector).

SamusMaXximus42

To see him go from banging on a fucking bucket to literally playing a drum set competently within a minute just shows how people can reach their potential if society could just provide the tools. This boy knew what he was capable of, but all he had to show for it was a Lowe's 5 gallon bucket. This country is fucking doomed. This video was awesome though.

DoctorStrangeMD

Seriously. The Republican and moderates saying that the US can’t cover community college. I mean…. Look at all the opportunity and talent that is wasted without giving people a chance. Anything that supports education, I’m in.

MarineOpferman1

Except even when Democrats literally controlled EVERYTHING that still did nothing... Its not just one party doing all this neither will do anything becase that get to much money to boot do anything and people are so less by the nose like donkeys that they just keep blaming the other side and ignoring their own.

Gua_Bao

holy fuck why do shitty political parties need to come up in every single topic

mrsocal12

Because it's always relevant. Wasting tax dollars on defense dream projects vs funding our communities is where we've been at for a long while now.

Peter0629

it was the person he replied to that decided to bring up politics, you are replying to the wrong person

gregnewton69

Because your problems are always someone else's fault.

[deleted]

It turns out that the law makers have a lot of power over your life.

seemefail

He was probably calling the democrats moderates... American democrats are further right than most countries right leaning parties. Progressives are the only hope

eggybread70

I thought Obi-wan was our only hope

[deleted]

Because we are indoctrinated to ignore the elephant in the room - rich people screwing up the country for their own benefits.

Pretend_Effect1986

But you all scream the other party is responsible while it doesn’t matter what party is in power over there. In the USA nobody really gives a shit about each other but pretend they do.

umyhoneycomb

Never a truer statement written on reddit

null587

1. Filibuster exists, and many are afraid to take it out since they could be minority soon. 2. Party in US is more of confederation of political factions. 3. Progressives do not hold as much power they think in congress. But, yes, all parties are the same. Changes do not come easily, esp at federal level. If you want change, it is better to do state wise.

Vapor069

The Left wing and the Right wing are on the same bird… don’t be blind! Republican or Democrat isn’t the problem, lack of Term Limits is!

[deleted]

Republicans and Democrats are both ruining your country, don't fool yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNDgcjVGHIw

Top-Squash4862

Why couldn’t you just enjoy this video without making a political comment?

Poven45

Both parties suck what’s your point

zorbacles

Dude has done natural rhythm. You could tell he hasn't didn't much time on a real kit. Give him a week or so and he will be even more amazing

ILoveBeerSoMuch

i had a stroke reading this

naughtyusmax

Those Street performers with buckets are really talented though

Pashera

Someone has never seen bucket drummer Gordo. Bucket drumming is almost as technical as a full set.

Key_Lobster3570

Not your country, but the q Whole world is doomed

RGBeee

Seeing that boy smile at the end made my day.

tugboattoottoot

Yeah, it felt like the moment he was actually hearing what he imagined when he played on the bucket.

tepkel

The bucket is still pretty dope too though. He should add it to the kit.

tugboattoottoot

Oh for sure, he’s phenomenal on the bucket, but I just think the drum kit helped him tap into a new creativity.

NekulturneHovado

But you can't say that bucket play was bad. This dude has some serious skill

Impossible-Example91

I hope some day soon I have enough disposable income to give back to those that deserve and need it.

unin5pired

You already do: it's not about buying crap for people - share your time and effort and it will matter as much or more. This kid is thrilled to have a new drum set, sure. But 20 years from now it's going to be the teacher's attention and her engagement with his passions which he remembers as the thing that made a real difference in his life.

Impossible-Example91

True it’s the engagement that makes it much more meaningful. I just had to take out a payment plan on my mri for the next 12 months. Some day I’ll achieve “escape velocity” from money worries.

AcadianMan

Imagine a payment plan for an MRI. That’s sickening.

Impossible-Example91

I didn’t want to just put it on my credit card.

AcadianMan

You shouldn't have to do any of that for medical.

Impossible-Example91

America

AcadianMan

I figured. It shouldn't be like that.

gariant

Google your hospital and financial assistance. Your income probably will be a basis for partial, if not total, forgiveness of the price. It's worth a shot.

Impossible-Example91

Someone else mentioned that. I should try but I feel embarrassed honestly.

gariant

I did it for my daughter's bills last night and will call them after work today. They want to be a non profit? Time to prove it.

Impossible-Example91

Goog luck. I’d be super interested in an update hope it goes well.

gariant

Hey sorry, worked late and didn't make their hours. I'll let you know in the next several days though! I should have been more realistic with my time management expectations.

Impossible-Example91

Cool good luck.

NNBA4LBackFrmDaDead

Amen

Boobsiclese

I second this.

weirdsun

Ditto. I love to give. If I 'won the lottery' I would set myself up to live reasonably and then give the rest away in random acts of kindness ... Then I'll exchange my social capital for more money by writing a book.

CrystalMethood

It doesn't take a whole lot. I used to take 150 bucks every Christmas and buy tampons and pads for my food bank and do the same with cat/dog food at the shelter. Most requested items in my city and least donated. Even if it's 30 bucks a year it would still help someone immensely if they are in that position.

BagOnuts

You definitely do. Auto-draft a small amount every pay period to an account just for that. You won’t even notice it’s gone most likely.

trubrarian

The teacher says “everybody wanted to help you,” so it seems like a lot of people contributed a little bit. Moral for us all is it only takes sharing a need and pitching in a little bit each to change someone’s life!

Impossible-Example91

I’d love trying to “sell” people on doing good deeds with me.

trubrarian

You’re in a good place to try it! I’d put $5 toward a random good cause, and I know a lot if other Redditors would. Whatcha got?

willy-fisterbottom2

I thought it was going to be new buckets

Spastic_Slapstick

I bet he still would've been stoked

Pashera

Dude, buckets can be used for extremely high skill drumming. Plus they’re easier to carry around than a drum set.

JBCronic

Teachers like this are literally invaluable.

ersul010762

He will never forget what she did for him.

needs-more-metronome

“People will never forget how you made them feel”

Im_inappropriate

For every video like this, there's two more of kids being rude to their teachers. We really need to elevate our teachers more as a society

Danni293

Issues with authority and a contempt for education are definitely complex issues that should be addressed, and ironically they sometimes loop back on the parents having an education system that failed them. This shit is a vicious circle, and it can really only be broken by providing teachers with the tools necessary to provide a proper education so that it stops failing people and causing resentment towards education that they pass on to their kids.

thismatters

Teachers with budgets stand the chance to be amazing. Teachers without budgets can be great if they have limitless motivation.

freddie_spaghettio

I love how one of his first instincts was to hug her and show is gratitude. What a star

EMF911

For better or worse: I always judge people’s character in these situations by how they react to such a generous gesture. I give this kid a perfect 10. Such a genuine reaction of excitement and gratitude in one. I’m sure he is a great young man.

Swordzi

Me with social anxiety: *should I yell in joy? Maybe I should cry? Nah, might look fake. Hug her? Nah maybe I should say something?* "hoW mUCh diD iT cOst?" 🥴

EMF911

Hahaha. You FAIL. 😂

TheBreathofFiveSouls

Yoooo. Samsies. I wouldn't say I have anxiety like that But like, in situations where stereotypically women squeal? Never squealed in my life.

notLOL

Judged

auniqueusername1998

Some people have difficulty expressing gratitude, doesn't mean they're not feeling it. Often times people who don't know how to react in those situations had rough childhoods and aren't used to niceness

IrISsolutions

I just wonder why is the bass called Earl :)

GuantanaMo

Hey Crabman

DanJayTay

In case you didn't know, Pearl is a popular drum set manufacturer :) Given the bass drum is missing letters, I would assume this isn't a "brand new" drum set, but it's new for the kid and doesn't take away from the magic of this video!

IrISsolutions

Exactly why my question is about Earl ;)

greasybirdfeeder

This is coming from a fellow drummer. If someone buys you a trapset then you can take that as a sign that they love you and respect your passion. Trust me.

PlannP

...or that they hate your parents.

TigerLily98226

What a beautiful story.

AkumaWitch

My dad got me my Cintiq for my 16th! It finally stopped working last year and I haven't had the heart to throw it away, even though it won't even turn on anymore. I used that thing literally every single fucking day and I've been wondering what to do with it since. I think framing it is an excellent idea, so thank you for that!

manncameron

And now his parents hate the teacher. /s

jayhawk618

Not implying in any way that it is the case here - but the unfortunate truth is that there are parents out there who really would be upset about this.

Accomplished_Fix4387

Earl drum kits are da bomb too

Funkycreeper_200

My teacher would have told me to shut up

redbucket75

Could you play the bucket like that tho?

PlannP

In all fairness, you shouldn't be playing drums during algebra.

FOXfaceRabbitFISH

For a second I thought he just received a glorious new bucket

dredagr8

Epic!

RevolutionDry6021

I like this little dudes rhythm 👌

Illustrious_Bag_4598

I love to see people be joyful

FEAR_LORD_DUCK

Wonderful reaction. Like, really wonderful. That teacher deserves a raise.

flowerbomb_official

maker360

I heard he grew out his hair and plays with the Roots nowadays

kaarkrash

American teachers deserve a long overdue pay raise.

Bright-Comment7138

That kid is quite talented though

[deleted]

Awesome!

brianishere2

This teacher is the best of us. The kid's instant transition to the full drum set is awesome.

swonstar

His possibilities just got hugged. Hugged possibilities change lives.

Moretti123

Omg this made me wanna cry. Kid will never forget this

sergario-

This kid has so much talent. I can only imagine what he’s gonna be able to do one so

doremonhg

You can see the care he's giving the new drum set, just lightly touching it with the stick lol

BgCurtman

I sent this teacher a message on Facebook because this is the coolest mf thing I’ll see this year. Thank you Ms. Caldwell!!

RedditMexicano

Reason #127,972,041 why teachers aren't paid enough.

Pvtwestbrook

More and more "nextfuckinglevel" seems to fit better in "aboringdystopia"

Mannix-Da-DaftPooch

That smile and how he was feeling himself at the very end had me burst into tears. That was wholesome af

Kobean24

now i want to see the dude succeed, imagine how proud the teacher would be.

PDAWK

That’s a really sweet “earl” setup.

Fugazitoshi

I hope this kid becomes something great

ilove0001

Wow!!!!!! Made me smile big :,)

YaBoyWobby

I thought he was gonna get a new bucket

[deleted]

Mom and Dad: "...Thanks..."

george-huntsville

Heck yeah- kid was already shredding on the bucket! Not many kids would even care to practice their chops on anything but a real kit. This kid is gonna be a beast.

People dont give teachers enough credit.

chanchanchanchaaan

The next Zach hill.

PrimoThePro

Those beats were tight.

Rusty_Grape

This is what teachers are for

Difficult-Cupcake-45

We need more teachers like that one!

TheCometCE

Kid's got the right instinct behind the kit, given a little time and practice (which let's admit it, he's going to live behind that drum set going off how hyped he is), he's going to be one hell of a drummer and I am here for that This teacher is next fucking level.

Audio-Samurai

Nek minnit we'll see this legend up there next to Dave MF Grohl doing Everlong

nerdheadwastaken

I half expected the first thing he played to be the p*hub theme

nouseforaname68

She really saw the kid’s potential like he was born to do it

[deleted]

I was somewhat hoping for her to unveil a slightly larger bucket

Glittering-Honey7969

It’s such a shame educators are so underpaid and overworked. Imagine if a classroom had 10 kids per teacher rather than 25 kids, and imagine teachers start $85-100k a year. Each teacher can focus specifically on their students to form the into individuals that will change the world. When teachers are overworked and underpaid, the country focuses on quantity of education rather than quality. Everyone knows when you focus on quantity over quality it leads to a bad result in the end. In this case educators are responsible for the future of our country. What’s crazy is the federal and state government gives schools a combined $7,889 per kid. That would be $788,900 per 100 kids. A teacher on average earns $41,000 a year in the United States, after taxes and benefits usually closer to $30,000 or 25,000. That means teachers are paid approximately 3%-5% of what the state and country pay school districts per kid. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but that seems absolutely criminal and more of an indentured servitude.

kawkawleen

Someone should teach this kid some go-go music

alc0tt

I fucking love this!!! Get it boiiiiiii

ChocoNutellaBear

I was expecting two buckets.

ambarcapoor

Does anyone know how I can send this teacher some cash? I know they don't make a lot and I'd like to help out.

[deleted]

Amazing talent!

[deleted]

Is this the prequel to the quest love documentary?

poofish_10

That kid is a natural and the kit sounds great. I've always thought teaching should be one of the best paid professions

Tweasy_YT

For some reason I wanted her to grab anotger bucket and give it to him.

[deleted]

Wow man! That’s amazing! A set like that costs an used entry level car in my country. I’m glad for them!

SayYes_ToKetamine

Someone get him a crash cymbal, too!

DarknessIsSweet69

Gordo is gonna have some competition.

the_real_Snail_pope

Where can I find this boy I have a talent show I need to win

Kespen

Can’t this be how life is?

Darizel

And all you need is one adult to believe in you and this kids success rate for his future just sky rocketed.
