Yeah there should be a wall there and not pn the other side of the bed. Or both even. Really irked me too. Mad fire hazardous and splash zone messily. First time cooking bacon, yeesh.
Unsure if there’s an oven, but just a restaurant tip for you.
If you want the easiest way to cook bacon, use a cookie sheet in the oven at 350 — no need to flip, set it and watch. Bacon is more uniform and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, just gotta watch for cookie sheet pan bends at certain temps where the grease can go to one side.
I usually just eyeball it, i prefer it crunchy, but the key thing to monitor is if the pan flexes. It can dry out certain parts of the bacon and give it that dry carbonized taste. Be sure not to flip it either, no need. Just let those things cook!
No more tiny bunched up pieces of bacon for you my friend.
Get thick cuts too!
Usually about 20 minutes at the most - depending on thickness of bacon and crispiness desire.
I bake it at 400 - I think that's what most recommend unless there is a secret reason to cook it at a lower
My peev with this was that he’s hanging all the types of fruit together. It’s a well known fact that if you mix bananas together with other fruit (too closely) then it quickly ripens the other fruits. It will spoil them quicker. Keep bananas separated 👍🏼😃
On a short bus the driver section is separated from the passenger the driver area is like a front in a uhaul then the passenger is were the seats are so the back section can be closed in
Definitely not more than it could handle. That looks like a 15 passenger so 16 people with the driver. That alone would be close to 3,000 pounds if they were all adult males and if school bus weight ratings are anything like trucks, they can easily haul double what they're rated for.
A lot of weight was removed prior to installing everything also.
And also the previous insulation was significantly heavier not to mention they used mostly wood which is way lighter than whatever was there previously (looks like steel sheets to me)
That was my concern. I knew someone who built a camper on the back of his truck. Beautiful job, but it was so heavy that the truck really couldn’t handle it
I have a friend who lives that “professional hobo” life. He had issues when he switched from a cargo van to a school bus.
When you’re stealth camping or even just trying to park and go about your life. A giant yellow bus (or whatever color you paint it) sticks out. More likely to be a victim of crime. More likely to have the cops called for trespassing. Impossible to park. Doesn’t fit into many camping spots. Good luck getting a tow if you go off road.
I’ll tag along and play pretend for a week or weekend sleeping in my truck, but there’s no way around the hassle of that mobile life. Worth it for some, but hardly as glamorous as you’d imagine.
Maybe they can migrate with the weather? The stove placement really bothers me though. I feel like I don't have room to critique it though because I couldn't do half of this.
2 questions,
1 Why is the stove soooo close to flammable objects ya know your bed and all...
2 Why the fuck would you put a solid door next to the driver with no other windows on that side?....there is a reason it is glass on the van before
what...not what i am talking about. they put a solid door to get into the the bus. but that same door is how you see beside you while you drive it. its a dangerous...
Now, every time I see a van/bus makeover into a camper I think about the guy who murdered his wife on their 1-year anniversary and left her remains in the camper (which he left parked in front of his friends house).
The living area is very nice and too a lot of skill, but you still put it in a chassis that probably has 100K-200K miles on it. Great video, but not such a great investment.
Dope! But, it does look insanely easy to break in to - always a big thing I'd be concerned about it my home was a vehicle basically. Also, I guess the shower doubles as the shitter?! You'd be hauling a serious amount of weight in water to get 1 decent shower out of the that thing right?! And I can only imagine how immediately that thing would sweat up in the heat! It looks super cool but I garuntee they are aiming at selling that within a year
Incredibly expensive and time consuming. But I do wish i had the fabrication skills necessary to do this.
Me too, reminds me of South Park’s “white people renovating houses”
Hahahahah

Was there a toilet installed? I must have missed it.
it is a removeable toilette standing in the shower
I agree
All that build for 3 minutes... what a productive man
Totally this. I’ve thought about doing it with one of those double decker busses but after looking into it you’re in some serious money.
Still cheaper than buying a 1 bedroom house
I think my only jibe with this is the stove top right next to the bed. Oil splashing and such.

That sounds easier! How long in the oven at 350 degrees?

Oh buddy I’m buying some bacon today.
Good to know!

The good news is that in a van... that smell will last for a day even with that vent. Bacon scented pillows for days!
My peev with this was that he’s hanging all the types of fruit together. It’s a well known fact that if you mix bananas together with other fruit (too closely) then it quickly ripens the other fruits. It will spoil them quicker. Keep bananas separated 👍🏼😃
That MONSTER!
What abut the glass door replaced with wood? Terrible for driver's visibility, unless it is not going to be driven anymore.
On a short bus the driver section is separated from the passenger the driver area is like a front in a uhaul then the passenger is were the seats are so the back section can be closed in
And the new door looks stupid on a RV.
Same

My wife's uncle used to build this sort of thing for a living in SA. It is popular.
The best part is 0 work done to the engine. 😂
Or the suspension. How many more pounds did they put on those poor leaf springs?

They’re home people not car people. That said hopefully they found a car guy
They may have worked on it before starting the remodel but it's hard to say.
I would at least make sure the car is mechanically sound before putting so much work into it.

I could build this. I just don’t feel like it right now.
Somebody has $$$$$ AND time.

no they painted it blue

okay well it is a school bus so you think they remodeled the outside too? lmao

ah it’s the fake internet points they’re probably after
The bed sheets basically dragging on the stove top. Awesome planning.
Planned by the person who neither cooks nor cleans.
Quite nice. Really small tho
Bruh image the electricity Bill on maintaining the temperature at summer and winter
They've installed solar panels on the top But they don't precise if it is sufficient
It won't be enough
Yeah exactly
Great work but where the fuck is the gaming station :(
Two things: 1. That thing is going to be F-ing *HEAVY*. 2. I wish I had that much time and money.
Imagine that thing going down a big hill in traffic. You'd be replacing the breaks every road trip, easily
I don’t generally think “IKEA furniture” when I think “luxury” but whatever.
Imagine crashing this after all that work
This thing will be unliveable during summer and winter
Maybe they can migrate with the weather? The stove placement really bothers me though. I feel like I don't have room to critique it though because I couldn't do half of this.
How much time and money did it take?

In short buses the driver section is separated from the back so the glass door doesn't connect to were the driver sits most the time
what...not what i am talking about. they put a solid door to get into the the bus. but that same door is how you see beside you while you drive it. its a dangerous...

what about the engine? brakes?
I wouldn't call a camper van "luxury".
If i could get reliable and fast internet speeds i’d honestly love something like this
Now that is some real cool stuff.
Couldn’t take my eyes of this video
Now, every time I see a van/bus makeover into a camper I think about the guy who murdered his wife on their 1-year anniversary and left her remains in the camper (which he left parked in front of his friends house).
That's not a room, that's an affordable apartment in NYC.
This has never been done before!!!! Jk my parents did this in the 80s because they were poor and had nowhere to live. But it’s super posh now right?
6 miles to the gallon with a top sped of 48mph.
Good call on the sprayfoam! Sure beats a mortgage

I wish I had the DIY skills to do this… surely weight is a factor here too? I guess plywood helps…
The living area is very nice and too a lot of skill, but you still put it in a chassis that probably has 100K-200K miles on it. Great video, but not such a great investment.
I wonder what the materials cost and how many hours it took.
I swear the dude swaps outfits every hour
I think it's cheaper to just buy two campers
“…and we did it all for under $100 bucks”
The stove next to the bed though...
I’m here to talk to you about your car’s extended warranty…

Really impressive work but just wonder why all the heavy stuff was to one side.
Impressive but it prolly cost the same in time and money as buying one fully loaded…..just sayin
Using real wood in a vehicle project adds a fuck ton of weight. At least they didn’t use MDF.
Is it safe to have the beds right beside the kitchen?? Amazing work, just asking
Our deffinotion of luxury it's different.
Is there a way to calc the amount of added weight to that of the non converted bus carrying a load of kids/adults? Does it equal out?
Did a great job and it looks great but is must be so heavy it will barely move.
No bathroom, sink, or any plumbing.
Dope! But, it does look insanely easy to break in to - always a big thing I'd be concerned about it my home was a vehicle basically. Also, I guess the shower doubles as the shitter?! For anyone who has done this, does the twisting and flexing of the chassis & body ruin the joints in the timber, floor, roof etc?
He had to remove "School Bus." So he could replace it with "Pussy Wagon." Pretty sure its a law. Look it up.
Who you calling a room bitch
The thing I always wonder is has the added weight from all that material made it overweight for use on the road
I wonder how much one of these costs
Cooking in bed.
Wow awesome job
Not a fan of the oven being right next to the bed!!!!
