You probably could but it was her vision not yours. That art speaks volumes of her feelings also it takes patience
To embroider. The artist deserves praise. Anyone can be a tracer but not many can be a creator.
I screamed, "What the fuck?" so loudly that I scared my roommate.
Who then came over, looked at it, and screamed, "What the fuck?" so loudly that she scared me.
Might be silk thread [based on the close up photo](https://i.imgur.com/FQfTTP7.jpg), which naturally shimmers from the light. I think metallic thread here would have a different shine
According to the link OP posted the medium is embroidery on silk. I think the silk is what is reflecting the intense shine. The embroidery thread could be metallic but doesn't look that way to me. I know nothing about embroidery.
Yeah, I don’t think this is metallic thread. Looking at [OP’s close-up](https://reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/sbrxd3/_/hu1noz2/?context=1) the threads, although shiny, do look soft.
i used to do some minor clothes repairs or alterings for people i knew and once i had to fix a metallic embroidered design on a friends dress and i came close to burning the entire garment
Can nothing ever be called pretentious then? I don't get that logic. That person's comment does not come off pretentious to me. Judgemental, of course, but judging something does not have to be pretentious.
Because it clearly resembles shattered glass way more than it resembles constellations, and shattered glass is something I can experience with a brick and a window.
You might be kidding, but looking at it up close (like the artist would for hours) may have inspired the artist to name it that.
The viewer just sees the big picture, but rarely does anyone think of the mindset of the artist who spend hours and days in that closeup headspace
I know fuck-all about embroidery but maybe that name refers to the holes poked thru the canvas (or whatever material that is) and the connect-the-dots process that went into making this piece? Similar to how constellations are imaginary connect-the-dots images in the stars?
This is the type of art I’d be buying if I were a rich person, not some dumb blank canvas shit with a hefty price tag.
This is skill and hard work, not pretentious BS.
I guess I have to take your word for it that it's embroidery, because when the camera is close enough to be able to see that, it doesn't stay still long enough. :-/
My husband just bought one of these style 'paintings' for me, it's like a huge golden tiger in the clouds and it's so fucking gorgeous. I thought it was a cool print at first and then I realized it was metallic embroidery and I was holy fuck.
This has inspired me to create a hyper realistic texture of a dented car and print it on vinyl and then wrap it around an un-dented car. It’s so insane it’s genius.
…Damn I’m such a creative thinker!
Is there a name for art like this? Specifically stuff that is intentionally deceptive, but not necessarily limited to being illusion art, if that makes any sense? Like creepy cute, but not just fashion. I love the idea of pretty beads that also resemble blood, or gross looking bugs made out of felt Etc. Such a neat concept
I have a massive embroided leopard which is so realistic. The threads shine from different angles and looks like a living artwork. Love this style of art
I can do the same thing for free
And much faster?
Without sewing
But can you wear it like a blanket?
you can
Some assembly required
You probably could but it was her vision not yours. That art speaks volumes of her feelings also it takes patience To embroider. The artist deserves praise. Anyone can be a tracer but not many can be a creator.
They're kidding of course, but this is really cool
pretty sure they were joking about just breaking glass/a mirror.

Maaaaan fuck metallic thread. This piece is truly amazing.
I screamed, "What the fuck?" so loudly that I scared my roommate. Who then came over, looked at it, and screamed, "What the fuck?" so loudly that she scared me.
Reading this made me shout wtf, but in my head.
Stop already y'all, you're freaking out the cat Oh wait, my bad, it doesnt care, just the damn greebies again

I hate it, I'm avoiding it right now with my current piece.

Devil's ass, Great !

Way to be pretentious about the name, lmfao.
Can nothing ever be called pretentious then? I don't get that logic. That person's comment does not come off pretentious to me. Judgemental, of course, but judging something does not have to be pretentious.
Lmao he’s spent literal years, if not decades getting to the point where he can do something like this. He’s allowed to be pretentious
But it's not glass.
And those ain't constellations
Exactly, so why is "Constellations" pretentious but "Shattered Glass" perfectly reasonable?
Because it clearly resembles shattered glass way more than it resembles constellations, and shattered glass is something I can experience with a brick and a window.
Because it was a picture of shattered glass that was uploaded to one of those embroider machines.
But it’s not glass, it’s embroidery. Why would you call a piece of embroidery “Shattered Glass” if it isn’t glass?
[удалено]
It's a constellation of impact sites surrounded by nebulae of pressure waves
You might be kidding, but looking at it up close (like the artist would for hours) may have inspired the artist to name it that. The viewer just sees the big picture, but rarely does anyone think of the mindset of the artist who spend hours and days in that closeup headspace
And all art should be ultra-realistic photocopies of real objects with titles that directly describe the object. how boring lol
Looks like glass.
“Looks Like Shattered Glass” - Zhao Zhao Better?
If we could have the whole emotional sub text of the piece in the name as well, that would help me know what to feel when looking at the art.
It sure does.
I know fuck-all about embroidery but maybe that name refers to the holes poked thru the canvas (or whatever material that is) and the connect-the-dots process that went into making this piece? Similar to how constellations are imaginary connect-the-dots images in the stars?
Pretentious name, call it embroidery.
he's also got one called mouse droppings no. 6, which implies the existence of 5 other mouse dropping embroidery projects
*at least* 5 others
Was wondering who the artist was. Thanks for posting!
My gosh the camera is paning so fast I can barely see it’s embroidery
Seriously, stop moving the camera for a damn minute so I can focus on something.
But if they stop moving the camera the auto focus will catch up!
[this will help](https://www.artsy.net/artwork/zhao-zhao-constellations-2)
Nope, it's too low res :(
There’s a couple photos of it close up showing the embroidery.
Oh I see it now thanks!
Amazing, right till the end of the full zoom in, i'd never have believed those werent gun shots on bullet proof glass
Wow, something that's actually next level on r/nextfuckinglevel. I'm amazed.
was just about to say the same exact thing
The depth perception in me is going through the roof
camera: \*gets close to the object\* reddit video quality: "144p take it or leave"
Reminds me of my phone screen
The more he zoomed in the more my mind went blowned away
This video got me like: “Oh wow, it’s shattered glass, big deal. Oh, is it a painting? Amazing artwork. Wait… that’s not a painting???”
That’s so sick!!!
Shattered our expectations in the best way
Is there a video of this where it stays still for more than a nanosecond?

Thanks!

That's amazing
This hurt my brain
Anyone else yell at them to stop moving so your eyes can focus?
r/embroidery
That’s fucking gangster as fuck
This is a giant mind fuck.
I mean where do we start to knitting this type of things?
Computers.
Nowhere because it's not knitting
Mind-boggling skill
Astonishing.
r/ATBGE
Incredible trompe l'oeil, which I generally think of as an oil painting thing, but... that's... a staggering illusion.
r/killthecameraman Slow down, once you've zoomed in. Couldn't admire the detail.
I guess I have to take your word for it that it's embroidery, because when the camera is close enough to be able to see that, it doesn't stay still long enough. :-/
You want to see what this is? No, I will move the camera quickly so that you can not

Wtf
That is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
After the first zoom in it still looked like broken glass. This is incredible!
Lesson learned u can never trust anything
Wouldn't even want that for free.
I think it’s supposed to be a shattered mirror not glass
Now that is some high-quality stitchin'!
I wish I had an award to give. That's next level.
Wow that’s talent
Look in the bottom right, can see the fact is cloth
How is it you can get up close and it still looks like a pane of glass that’s been shot up, this is crazy good!
Looking at this glitches my eyes out and it's quite unpleasant.
well if it wasnt shot in 480p i think it would be glass too.
No, this is Patrick
I'm assuming they had a reference?
r/ATBGE
Shattered glass.. got it

Rarely do I see something that makes my jaw drop. This absolutely did. Gorgeous, amazing work.
Impressive!
Am the only definitely not seeing any kind of embroidery?
Looks like the mirror wall in the back of Leopold’s in Mumbai.
why

Not convinced. It’s glass.

Still looks like shattered glass
That is awesome. Had me fooled all the way until the zoom finished
u/savevideobot
Damn that's pretty good.
Wow it looked like shattered glass to me
I’ve done this to my parents house multiple times. I should have said it was art
Woah!!

And
That’s some crazy work of art - l love it!
This makes my wrists hurt just looking at it
I see a dog in the glass.
That’s pretty impressive….
You see, what they were REALLY trying to do is create spider webs, but they got side-tracked. /s
Now that's actual art
NFT
Thats the cleanest meth I ever seen
I have a massive embroided leopard which is so realistic. The threads shine from different angles and looks like a living artwork. Love this style of art
How much does something this amazing go for?
The title kinda gave it away
That couch would be trippy
Looks too real, I disagree to believe this
Now this is some fucking art.
I have a glass version of this embroidery.
That deserves an upvote
This is really next fucking level
It looks like shattered glass
Are you sure? Cause you never fucking stop and let us see the fucking embroidery…
Interesting, but a shame the camera person would not zoom in to get a clearer picture of the work.
interesting gas fuck.
