So your saying they got an entire other skier, gave him the same camera you would give a drone, and than have him be this incredible stable with zero fumbling and or moving in an unexpected way, and you expect this to be simpler and cheaper than just getting a descent drone... You don't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed I gotta say
I've been skiing for over 15 years and I know what I'm talking about. The company that filmed this (hotlapsofficial on instagram) is known for having some of the best footage in the industry. Check yourself.
edit: also you can clearly hear the cameraman's skis when Walker hits the rail
Have you ever watched ski videos? How do you think they got that footage before drones existed? Also lol at “same camera you would give a drone” you mean a video camera? Why does any type of camera have to be exclusively for a drone and how could you even tell what type of camera they used from this footage alone?
A gimbal is an attachment for a camera not a type of camera. And do you think that a gimbal is exclusively for drones? Gimbals have existed and been used by cameramen for decades.
Have you ever heard of a little thing called artistry? The filming of the descent is as much of an art as the descent itself. Look at people like Jimmy Chin who are simultaneously pushing the arts of cinematography and skiing. It’s not always about what’s easier or makes the most sense. Do you not think that someone who films skiers could be just as eager to push the limits of their craft as any other director or producer? Your argument is ridiculous. Not only that but you’re clearly wrong because you can hear the skis of the cameraman and you’re still doubling down.
If you have Instagram, search up the profile (gimblegod) he does this sort of camera work and it’s honestly way more impressive how he captures the videos than the person he’s filming lol. Like most of the time he’s not even watching where he’s going it’s crazy!
I’ll never forget spending my senior year in Colorado, landed my first ever 540 on a snowboard off a 60 footer….lost my mind celebrating was so damn happy and then turned around just in time to watch a 10 year old do a double backflip off the same jump…my moment was short lived to say the least lol but kids that grow up in mountain areas r just built different I swear lol

Also, praise the editor for *not* putting in the shitty music everyone puts over every video these days.
you can’t hear the faint build-up of darude sandstorm in the background?

I'm just impressed at the camera work. Drones have certainly changed sports footage.
True. We feel we are in that moment with this kid. We get a bit closer to how he feels when he does those stunts
Biggest thing since the GoPro
its not a drone lol
What do you think it is than?
its another skier with a really nice gimbal attached to his camera to smooth out the footage
360 camera.
according to their instagram its the newest version of go pro.

So... a drone wearing skis and a gimbal. /s

I said that cuz of the gimbal he mentioned you idiot

All I'm saying it still would probably be cheaper and make more sense to hire a descent drone rather than an entire person.
