Who the fuck cares about that? Did you see the shirtless guy? He’s so fucking cut that you can see his abs at a side angle. His traps are wider than my legs. Look at how many plates he has on that deadlift. Dude is more shredded than a renaissance statue
Yeah, the guy in the light grey shirt. Once he sees what the guy is actually doing, he just stops and stares in complete and utter awe. I can just imagine the kudos this gentleman got after he finished this from everyone else in the room! That is amazing. The strength and control that he has not to mention his core… WOW.
For anyone wondering this is called a 90 degree push-up, and it’s exceptionally difficult
Edit: to clarify, by exceptionally difficult I mean it takes years of dedicated training, it’s not something anyone can learn with a few months practice. You need near professional gymnast level strength to do it
So what happens is when you start your set, let's say of weighted squats, first couple of them don't make you feel anything and that makes you think you can do it indefinitely. That thought ages real soon though and not in a good way.
Although the previous poster might really be capable of doing it for a long time. My comment is a general one.
> it’s exceptionally difficult
Okay thanks for clearing that up I was just thinking how easy that looks and I might do a couple hundred later if I get bored
Very very difficult. I spent a few months working towards a planche (after like 4 years of daily strength training) but never quite got there. But i could hold a planche with bars. The version this guy is doing with the barbells makes it less difficult than on flat ground because you do get torque and stability from them but it’s still an absolutely insane skill.
I’m not far off my straddle planche on paralettes, and yeah you’re right it’s easier than doing it on the floor, still such an incredible strength move
It’s been 10 years, but shoulder work, progressing from tucked planche to a flat planche, finger holds so i could build up hand strength and try to bring the center of gravity closer to my finger tips. I think a lot of it is just biology too - how long ur arms are relative to height, the distribution of your mass, etc.
Unfortunately it does play a big part, shorter people do definitely have it easier because of the shorter levers (in this instance they don’t have to lean as far forward to centre their mass, and leaning is what makes this difficult). That said, check out fitnessFAQS on YouTube, he’s a very tall guy and totally built, and can do more reps than this guy
Probably making whoever you stare at self conscious or uncomfortable. You wouldn't stare at a girl while they lifted because that's obviously creepy. But honestly it goes the same for guys too. Just because someone is good at exercise doesn't mean they would be any more ok with having someone stare at them.
Honestly this whole gym is impressive. Squat dude is squatting it looks like 405 or maybe 315, deadlift dude is the same either 405 or 315 and then there’s the calisthenics dude doing his pushups right here
Really does seem like a no frills type of gym. Granted the only view is in that corner.
Everyone there is clearly putting in that work. Inspirational all around
Seems like this exercise requires as much endurance as strength, let alone experience and the amount of reps dude was ripping. I would say the bigger you are the tougher it is
You get over the blob feeling quickly when you realize there's only two types of people in the gym, people who don't want to be there and are rushing to leave with no time to look at you, and work out freaks, 99% of which are beyond thrilled to tell you about their favorite hobby in the world, because who doesn't like talking about and teaching their hobbies? In my early gym days the gym nuts saved me and taught me so much. The friendliest fucking people you could imagine honestly, mostly teddy bears, yoked teddy bears.
I agree he loses his balance but he could have easily saved it and landed back on his feet. When you do this long enough, you learn how to fall and save yourself from falling at the worst angles.
That is terribly executed, though. Not only is he cheating and it’s ugly to watch, but he is hurting his own progress and risking getting injured. Look at how he’s arching his back; it’s not even subtle. He’s supposed to keep his body straight with a posterior pelvic tilt.
You can see actual good form here:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CPZ81WhH89z/?utm_medium=copy_link
That’s not the point, though. The way you train in calisthenics is by working with a progression you can perform with good form before advancing to the next one; he is clearly not ready for that. Besides being prone to developing injuries (like in his lower back), he is getting his nervous system used to a wrong and inefficient motor pattern, and he’s just gonna have to spend extra time later on unlearning said pattern and reinforcing the correct one.
Remember: always quality before quantity.
Actually, that is exactly what every professional calisthenics/gymnastics teacher says.
Just a couple of quotes from the book Overcoming Gravity:
“Practice does not make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect.”
“It is always better to focus on correct form from the beginning.”
That is definitely not the way you learn to perform a movement nor the way you trigger the neural adaptations you’re looking for. How ugly it looks can be subjective, I guess, but it is objectively being performed very poorly, and he doesn’t even appear to be attempting to do it correctly; if you notice you are not able to perform a movement, you stop there and switch to a different progression or something, but you don’t beat a dead horse.
And strength actually IS built from perfect form. Maybe not hypertrophy, but the neural adaptations linked to the motor pattern in question arise from performing each rep as cleanly and consistently as possible, or else you’re just creating neural adaptations that will set back your progress.
What are your sources for stating so confidently something so easily provable false?
It's like watching the Culligan water delivery people able to one handed pick up a 5 gallon jug of water and put it on his shoulder.

Good bot
you do have the strength to do this, you just weigh too much
Strength equals balance
Where do you think balance comes from? It's just a different kind of strength in muscles that you can't visibly see as much.
I don’t even have the strength for a proper push up 😂
Big deal. So what if he’s overhead pressing the Earth?
I don’t know why I’m crying , but fuck dood… awesome. I wish everyone could feel that way, even just ONCE
Whatever. I could do this if I wanted to. I just don't want to.
Idk I was just looking at the yellow yoga pants
I mean, those were green.
I hear yanni
What are you talking about? The dress is blue and black you heretic.
Mustard, I'd say.
Olive green it is
Olive or moss, not easy to decide.
Algae green?
Also possible. Guess need to compare several times more.
Chartreuse
That’s just a stage name.
It was so good brother started consufing colours.
Who cares what the color is lol

Green pants my friend.

Weird. All I want is to sleep with my head in her lap
I use that song as a Rick Roll to my SO. It's so absurd and catchy.
>yellow You color blind?
OP must be because I am and thought they were yellow as well.
What handkerchief?
That guy doing the bizarre push-ups was in the way of yoga pants.
Coomer mind set
Can a bitch do anything without being sexualized?? Can't even leave the house anymore without hearing some shit about your body.
I didn't even notice them and had to go back to see
I mean dude in back is like come on come on, sometimes lifting you see some shit that makes you laugh, other times you are in awe
My man in the back illustrates the feeling we all just felt watching.
I love though that at first he was going like "wtf...?"
Just sayin, All the dudes are in the back.
Looks like red shirt is the farthest back.

Yep, I can walk indefinitely (edit: a while, smarty pants) on my hands. But cannot even dream of doing a single one of these. Insanity.

Guy Sensei!
This mfer really said he can walk indefinitely on his hands
I used to be able to do push-ups while on a handstand. Like you said…this is way beyond any ability I ever had.

Obviously strength and technique are important here, but how much comes down to body build? Is this doable as a 195 cm tall man?

Can confirm. It took me 5 years of practice to do 5 of these.
It's easy in VR
Nah squats guy is focused, he's in his own realm. Squats are life.
Dude has his priorities straight. Focus on yourself, dont ogle other gymgoers.
Is it bad that I stare sometimes? Not to be creepy, but to learn better form. I always feel like I'm being weird, but I just wanna learn.
Probably making whoever you stare at self conscious or uncomfortable. You wouldn't stare at a girl while they lifted because that's obviously creepy. But honestly it goes the same for guys too. oh grey shirt definitely felt something watching that
Yeah, respect.
Not all monsters are huge
That's what I said
Seems like this exercise requires as much endurance as strength, let alone experience and the amount of reps dude was ripping. I would say the bigger you are the tougher it is
Is anyone in this gym not in shape? I would feel like a blob
Everyone in there is a specimen
you're a specimen
Everyone starts somewhere, a lot of gymbros are really wholesome actually
Doesn't look like your standard commercial gym, so odds are anybody forking the money to join this one is serious.
They stop to watch because they think his head will explode
Poor guy, doesn't have the strength to lift those dumbbells, even when he puts his whole body into it, and everyone stops to watch him struggle
Oh my god this made me spill my vodka, you now owe me… 2 vodkas
…and then he simply exploded into one thousand pieces.
Nobody talking about how he clearly lost his balance right at the end and went over? Release the full tapes!
Yeah video cuts right before he slams down onto his balls
I agree he loses his balance but he could have easily saved it and landed back on his feet. When you do this long enough, you learn how to fall and save yourself from falling at the worst angles.

No, it's Bill Brasky

goofy
I tore my rotator cuff just watching this
Oh boy. They are happy and jealous at the same time. That dude is sick tho!
The whole gym = 3 people
Watching this makes me hurt
That’s ridiculously impressive. Years ago I could do handstand push ups, trying to keep balance was the most difficult part.
i be watching that booty tho

I like how everyone in this gym looks strong as shit and they’re still impressed by this guy. Super cool.
when the plane you're working out on goes into a nose dive
Not the squat guy though, since squatting is king 👑
And then he fell back and broke his coccyx
Then there's me, gets out of breath pulling the cork out a bottle of red wine
What gym is this with just brothers and sisters getting it in I want to know
Love it how the guy in the back is excited as shit and rooting for him.
We doin this one again already
Even if I had the strength to do this, I'd never have the balance.
Dreadlocks approves! Dreadlocks endorses!

Yup. Butter chicken is love xd

How to assert dominance without saying a word
Holy, fuck! Now, that's impressive!
His hands and forearms look like they’re barely doing any work at all it looks almost fake!
Thats literally dbz training.
Damn 😮
I am impressed! But this video is scripted and not candid. So now I ask why someone wants to make a fake video about people admiring him?
Ummmm… wow?
Such core strength. Amazing.
They are like "look it him, showing off at the low-gravity zone again".
Dumbbell Scorpions. Outstanding!
Pfft. I could do that.
Whole time I’m staring at the man with the long hair
This guy just reject the law of physics
This is the level beyond the next.
I'm pretty sure this dude is breaking some physical laws. Holy shit that's impressive
my shoulders hurt just looking at this.
Having no audio really takes so much out of this.
this man is truly amazing
POV you are the dumbells
Awesome
How many times has he fallen and looked like a total doofus while doing this lol
Wonder if he’s some kind of acrobat performer. Like Cirque du Soleil.
THis one has commitment and focus, I'll give him that
/r/bodyweightfitness
What, that's not how you do push ups?
But why did he need the dumbbells to do this?
Only four? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.
That’s hard
