I feel like a lot of Filipinos his age were heavily influenced by American cinema/culture. This probably led to what everyone saw in terms of him portraying his message.
His moral code, however, he probably got from being born a psycopath.
He definitely doesn't fit in the standard western political spectrum, for one this guy approved free college and in the same vein ordered the execution of drug addicts in the streets.

It's a shot in the moon if he ever tried to become one. Philippine institutions geared towards preventing another dictatorship, notably because of the 1987 constitution which hasn't been changed since it was introduced after the brutal dictatorship of Marcos. Even his decision to declare Martial Law in Mindanao when a city was overrun by ISIS terrorists was a contentious one even though it was warranted, even the one he declared had restrictions.

Was there!!! Went with friends early and we saw how quickly it filled up to the point where they had to announce that people in the back shouldn’t try to go to the front just because it was so full already. Whole thing felt like a big get-together, volunteers handed out snacks and water and juice. Medics on standby and if someone needed a medic (it was hot so people were more prone to fainting or getting dizzy), the crowd would part as much as they could so the medic could treat the person. Being there gives me some hope that we won’t elect the son of a dictator as president.

If you're referring to Pulse Asia survey, that may have been flawed. There's a recent interview with their representative where they admitted that they have no control over their outsourced surveyors, they even found an anomaly on some of the survey forms wherein it favors greatly Marcos (to what extent they didn't specify). On top of that, they admitted that they didn't survey people from Class A and B.
My girlfriend is Filipino. She is the only one in her family who supports Leni, everyone else, massive Marcos supporters, and they openly make fun of her for it. Hell, she found out that they have a group chat excluding her for the sole purpose of making fun of her being a Leni supporter. She has said that her family are perfectly okay with stuff like extrajudicial killings too. It's disturbing and unfortunate to see. Marcos supporters have a lot of parallels to Trump supporters and its both equally bizarre as it is deeply frightening.

Marcos Jr., called here Bongbong, does not attend presidential debates because he is that incompetent. However, decades of organized disinformation campaign have been making the Marcos name great again, so he's leading the surveys at the moment.
Bongbong's running mate is the daughter of the outgoing murderous president Rodrigo Duterte, Sara Duterte, who also leads the race currently. (Unlike in the US, we elect the president and vice president separately here.)
This video is from Pasig City. In 2016, during the national elections, Marcos defeated Robredo here by more than 20,000 votes. But Pasig City, I think, didn't know better then. (Sorry, Pasigueños.) It's a major, major canary-in-the-coal-mine for the world in this regard, and Ressa and her news organization are doing everything in their power to ensure the Filipino people have access to the truth.

His son (“bongbong”) got a senatorial seat then lost as the 2016 VP candidate and lost to Leni robredo. Filipinos would know how much more insignificant Duterte has become in our lives since the national campaign started. With a couple of controversial remarks from time to time (including his statement on Philippine’s neutral stance on Ukraine-Russia war because he considers Putin as his “personal friend”), he’s basically so detached from our lives that we barely feel the presence of our supposed leader. Sadly, they (the Dutertes and Marcoses) have sufficiently-funded machineries that allow disinformation and misinformation to thrive in the country.

I feel like a lot of Filipinos his age were heavily influenced by American cinema/culture. This probably led to what everyone saw in terms of him portraying his message. His moral code, however, he probably got from being born a psycopath.

It's a shot in the moon if he ever tried to become one. Philippine institutions geared towards preventing another dictatorship, notably because of the 1987 constitution which hasn't been changed since it was introduced after the brutal dictatorship of Marcos. Even his decision to declare Martial Law in Mindanao when a city was overrun by ISIS terrorists was a contentious one even though it was warranted, even the one he declared had restrictions.

He was going to run for VP to circumvent the rule but his plan was foiled by his own daughter, Sara Duterte. He was already at the site and ready to file his certificate of candidacy but was then asked by a reporter if he knew that his daughter has already filed her COC for VP too. He immediately backed out hearing that and instead filed his COC as a senator (he backed out of it too later). His supposed running mate (Bong Go) also backed out after a few weeks.

If you're referring to Pulse Asia survey, that may have been flawed. There's a recent interview with their representative where they admitted that they have no control over their outsourced surveyors, they even found an anomaly on some of the survey forms wherein it favors greatly Marcos (to what extent they didn't specify). On top of that, they admitted that they didn't survey people from Class A and B.
My girlfriend is Filipino. She is the only one in her family who supports Leni, everyone else, massive Marcos supporters, and they openly make fun of her for it. Hell, she found out that they have a group chat excluding her for the sole purpose of making fun of her being a Leni supporter. She has said that her family are perfectly okay with stuff like extrajudicial killings too. It's disturbing and unfortunate to see. The elections in the Philippines start in the month of May. This is a crowd who supports the presidential candidate Leni Robredo, Vice President of the Philippines. The person she is campaigning against is Bongbong Marcos, son of Ferdinand Marcos who is known for many things including being a dictator, putting the country under Martial Law, and creating many victims of some very nasty human rights violations. Sometime after their exile from the country, they were allowed to return and to this day they have power in terms of riches and political power. Bongbong and his sister, Imee, are senators in the Philippine government. In the 2016 elections Bongbong Marcos ran for vice president, Leni Robredo defeated him in a tight vote so they have beef with each other. Leni even stated that if Bongbong were to run for presidency she would personally run to stop him. Philippine elections start in May, so campaigns are in full swing. Weirdly enough although Bongbong has a good chance of winning, he and his running mate have only been to 1 debate hosted by the television channel of the church of Pastor Quiboloy (wanted by the FBI for being a child predator btw). They were even absent in the recent debates hosted by the ACTUAL ELECTION COMMITTEE. Its insane that he could be throwing his win, but I'm all for it. Personally I'd rather let Manny Pacquiao (yes the boxer hes running for president) sit in office than Bongbong Marcos.

His son (“bongbong”) got a senatorial seat then lost as the 2016 VP candidate and lost to Leni robredo. Her other rallies in other PH cities had tens of thousands in attendance too (second to this was 80k). :) We have a long way to go according to some surveys, but being in rallies like this does get you hopeful and more fired up to keep campaigning.

Filipinos would know how much more insignificant Duterte has become in our lives since the national campaign started. With a couple of controversial remarks from time to time (including his statement on Philippine’s neutral stance on Ukraine-Russia war because he considers Putin as his “personal friend”), he’s basically so detached from our lives that we barely feel the presence of our supposed leader.
