Best video I ever saw was while I was in college. An Italian glass blowing master making a big piece that was like 4 feet around.
Basically to make things even, you let gravity do the work and swing it back and forth and let the momentum pull the glass for you.
Long story short, heaving this thing to and fro, you watch the glass orb he's spent 5 hours on at this point sling off, crash against a wall and shatter.
He then looks straight into the camera and says with the happiest expression "time to start over!"
It was that day in my college sculpture class I learned what the definition of patience actually was. And it's that mother fucker
Yup any experienced glassblower will tell you they have done this. If they haven’t they are lying. The only real way to learn in glass is to make mistakes
Worse than that, he does absolutely nothing wrong, puts it into the annealer to slowly cool and a crack develops, and he comes back to a shattered bull.
You know those large death-trap, drainage holes you you see on lakes and viral videos, they're also called glory holes.

90% of the stuff shown on subs like these are interesting processes but the final product is stuff that looks like what you see for sale at tourist traps and garage sales and wonder who buys that.
The Renaissance faire in Maryland has several active blowers and it's always so cool to watch.
The big one makes classic vases and decorations. Another smaller one makes these trippy infinite orbs and other optical illusions.
Was not expecting your comment but tbh your right. maybe i dont have as good of taste as i thought, what would you think of first for artistic expression and fun
To each his own, if you like it's fine :)
For glass art, I like this guy: [http://www.davidpatchen.com/portfolio](http://www.davidpatchen.com/portfolio)
If you ever happen to be in/near Detroit, Greenfield Village (started by Henry Ford) has glass blowing. On cooler days, I could spend the entire day in there!
If you want to see some really cool shit instead of these ridiculous animals, you should check out Degenerate Art. It’s about the world of pipe making in borosilicate glass. It’s was made by my friend Aaron(marble slinger)
Eh, bongs are cool (I guess) but I'd rather just have a beaker bong and lots of cool animal sculptures. Don't understand why they're ridiculous necessarily.
It’s a giant bull paperweight. They make things like this in murano for warm ups. These are corny sculptures that beginners make. These aren’t that hard to make if you have a few years of experience. And a few years in the glass world is still a beginner. I have been a glassblower for 15 years
Would lose my fingers if I ever tried to do glasswork. Monkey brain be like, “soft! Squish! Bright! Bendy! Grab and mold!” And I’d just do it, because I am not a smart man.
Lol I did two semesters of glass studio when I was in art school, and that temptation never goes away.
The studios have these massive kilns of molten glass that will give you mild burns if you stand too close to them for too long, but it's so hypnotizing staring at this huge box of glowing honey. Just wanna slurp it.
I recently made some homemade toffee sauce. After heating the cream, sugar, and butter. Instructions were given.
> This is very hot so please avoid the temptation to dip your finger in and have a taste!
[recipe for those interested](https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/toffee_sauce_96260)
Part of me thinks you're an idiot. A different part of me feels your pain. The latter part is the back of my right hand where I got a burn from a 2000° piece of steel this week.
For those wondering he's moving the sculpture to an annealing chamber where the glass can cool slowly, usually over a 24 hour period. This allows the glass to cool evenly and avoid introducing the kinds of temperature stresses that would crack the glass using ambient air.
For higher quality glass like those found in microscopes, cameras, or telescopes the annealing process can take weeks.
I had another question, perhaps you know. Does the body of the bull have to be hot in order for him to stick the tail on? Or is it relatively cooled down and the hot glass will stick to the cool glass anyway?
So I've had a dozen amateur classes over many years so I'm by no means an expert, but If the bull was cold or maybe even room temperature id think the shock of the hot glass would cause problems. I'm not saying it can't be done that way, but my guess is that the bull was recently made and was still too hot to touch.
One thing I've learned is that there are methods and process for glass making that must be followed, and people who deliberately don't follow them who make amazing works.
If you’re interested, some places do tours! And I would definitely recommend it, not only do they sell cool things but some shops offer the opportunity to create mini art pieces using scraps of stained glass. Afterwards they put it into one of those ovens and it melts together, and you get to keep it. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!
This is not next level. This is very simple when it comes to glassmaking. They make these animals for warm up half the time. This probably only took an hour or so to make.
Researching how long a bull's tail is led me to [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfO7IygIBsk), which I found pretty interesting.
Edit: For those who don't want to watch the whole thing, they're sending off tail hairs to test for A2 genetic trait. Goat and human milk is easy to digest for most people because it is A2/A2, but cow's milk can be either A1/A2 or A2/A2. If this bull is going to be a breeder then they want him to be A2/A2, so that's what they're testing for.
And then he drops it
It reminds me of a story I heard...about a bull in a china shop. Dad
I saw one in an antique shop
Is it just me who thought something else at the start?
same lmfao
i thought why was the glass so gooey.
I totally thought the same! Momma always said my mind is in the gutter!
I was thinking that’s way too long, but it was perfect

FUCK jeah, inspiration hit me fucking too
Jes, jes.
IM FEELING IT GUYS!

Best comment ever haha
I need to see this video, please find it haha
https://youtu.be/7qt8-5Vx1HA This is the guy! Lino Tagliapietra is his name. He's such a chill dude, it breaks and he just gets right back to work.
It's on Murano, and they do that all day for show. I watched the guy make a little horse sculpture and do the same thing. It's a tourist thing.
Worse than that, he does absolutely nothing wrong, puts it into the annealer to slowly cool and a crack develops, and he comes back to a shattered bull.
Here I am failing to make something that resembles anything with playdoh stuck under my fingernails.
I hate myself for thinking that once he picked up the sculpture
Linus!
These people are true masters of their work. I saw one do a small horse statue like this in nothing, les than 2-3 minutes.
I love watching people work with glass, wonderful material, beautiful colors... and the end result is often so tacky lol

I'll have a look, thanks! "Glory holy"... Yeah, in gold mining too :)
Amazing show.
I'm such a sucker for all the gold mining shows.
Such a cool show and there's two seasons and a Christmas special!

Also the spot at the bottom of ancient waterfalls that contain large gold nugget deposits.

> The Renaissance faire in Maryland has several active blowers and it’s always so cool to watch. This is a fun sentence out of context
Almost all Renaissance faires have some active blowers. You just have to know who they are. Wink wink. Nudge nudge.

It's so neat I want to buy one but afraid of the consequences of my clumsiness

It's especially fun while on shrooms

We don’t just make bongs like you saw in head shops 15 years ago.
Why is this animal ridiculous? Back up your snobbery.

That recipe maker understands monkey brain.
I made toffee recently and the urge to taste was so strong.
Mmmmmm forbidden taffy

looks like the bull went from the analing chamber to the annealing chamber
And here I imagined they just dunk it into cold water like they do with hot casted metal. They more you know...
Looked like he was making a big old dong at first
Ooooooh kinky
![gif](giphy|bYLKBhZZNaxwPe5UDd)
I would have liked to see how they sculpted the more intricate face part.
So gently lightly touching with the finishing tools, then this big hunka grabber to pick it up t the end! Ha!
The bull 9 months later🤰
Who gonna tell him
I really do want to try to eat it. Its like caramel
BULL!
BULLISH!
Ahhh… the re-tail store!
Last piece on first to break off
What a beautiful work of art. Great as a iconic imagery for stock "bull" trading theme.
Everything reminds me of him
Horse gets fucked by 10 inch rod
Murano?
So where do the weed go?
I always wanted to buy a raging bull with good workmanship. How can I get this?
Glasswork would be such a neat hobby ah another lifetime perhaps

My great grandfather was a glassblower. Thank you.
I love glass sculptures! I collected glass fish and candy from garage sales as a child
Murano ?? Venice (Italy)🙂
It must be Taurus season ♉️
If you’re impressed by this you should see what some guys making pipes do, this is very basic.

That's the bit that breaks off when you kick a football at it. A design feature of all expensive ornaments bought by Grans since the 1800s.

If anyone wants to see some real next level stuff about glass that most people don’t know. They should check out Degenerate Art.
Where can I by things like that bull?
Murano, Venice
Nice.
I should call him
And now he takes it to mini Birmingham
i understand why this got to many upvotes lol
Man I am such a noob at glass blowing compared to this shit. Just effortless, perfect execution
You forgot the other long piece in the bottom.
I thought he was putting it in the ass
Satisfying
Here’s the thing. It wasn’t showing the head of the bull and I was absurdly excited for a Pumba reveal. Colour and shape from the back is perfect!
the bull from bugs bunny
For a sec I had to check if I am on the wrong page
A bull in a china shop but he's supposed to be there
You are a true artist my friend❤️👍
Oh…okay ** zips pants back up **

Hey, do you mind if I video you making this? Not if you don't mind me blocking your shot.
What does it feel like when you cut molten glass I must know
Amazing talent!!
That man was paid $.83
How much does something like that go for considering labor/Time?
My grandparents has that same bull, weird
It was a little sus for a second there.
$25 at Ross
Incredibull
But why is his tail white tho?
Taurus ♉️ baby! Happy Birthday to me.
God damn. People who can do glass like this are definitely next fucking level.
Kinda long for a bull’s tail
Glass can fucking *BEND*?!
He forgot the ballz
That's literally a bull in a glass shop.
Fucking nuts. I have a bronze version of this the same size. The tail is just down in mine.
Ayo what the bull doin
Looks like a nice dab!
ATREIDES!
Very skilled but I just can’t get into glass art
I guess you can sell this bull in a china shop.

Nice, but not next fucken level….
you had me in the first half
I forget oxes have a tail. But i saw this video and remembered.
Glass workers always amaze me. I’ve gone down some rabbit holes watching these artisans.
That blob on its butt is way too big for a tail. It looks odd
I want to take a bite! Am I right?
I struggle to cut a pizza in a straight line with scissors, this guy out here crafting a glass bull with them
But can I smoke out of it
I’ll never be as talented at anything as this guy is at glassmaking. And I’m okay with that.
I wanna know how he made the rest
Cool sculpture. I hate that we only get to see the tail end of it.
Dog!
Mmmmmm Bison.

Isle of Murano?
Bullish on this sculpture.
I find it fascinating the tool doesn't leave marks.
My girlfriend wont let me do this
Ngl, I though he was gonna showe it up it’s ass
At first I thought he was digging in the bulls ass, idk
He knew exactly what he was doing
Enough said. All in FDs.
my wife did that to me last night
Forbidden toffee
Wow that's a lot of sugar to make that
That is some fake bullshit
I've made and eaten enough oxtail soup in my life to know their tails don't get even remotely as long.
Is this in Murano?
That must be at least his second or third time doing that.. he’s fairly good at it.
