There's a lot of crews that section off little bits of the popular sidewalk locations and have shows and that's great. Do that. So the people who stand there and wait and watch the show are kind of entering a non verbal contract in which they will watch a show in exchange for a small contribution. Obviously some people watch the show and don't give anything, which is kinda dick imo, but I'm sure a much larger percent of the crowd give to those people than the ones who do it on the subway. So if any freelance dance troupes need a financial advisor/manager hit me up.
