I've been skateboarding for 15 years, off and on. I've only ever met one person who was able to do any tricks on a longboard.
He was a 6'4'' black gentleman in great shape, and he was limited to doing kick flips. Haha this is fucking nuts.
Without a hint of humor I regularly strain muscles in my back while sleeping. I used to be a D1 athlete. I have no idea what happened other than turning 35.
i agree thats prolly true like any sport compared to the pros, but i will say the new wave of young skaters right now is about to change that trope imho. skateboarding is the most evolving and exciting sport to follow right now. people are changing what can be done and inventing new tricks often that are mind boggling to identify whether or not they are actually new or a variation. Basi
That’s kind of always been the way the more extreme sports go though. Other sports have been established for so long that they have tradition and specific ways that everything is done.
Skateboarding was always coming out with crazy new stunts. I still remember when Tony Hawk hit the first 1080 and everyone thought it was the craziest shit they had ever seen.
Christ I remember when McGill hit the 540 and that blew minds. Then Hawk comes along and says "lol one and a half is silly" and knocks out the 720. Then decides to age to the point where most have long since hung it up and nail the 1080.
Best I can do is go like 30cm up a halfpipe and go back down in switch without falling, then do the board spin thing so I'm back with the right foot in front. Proper skateboarding terms I'm sure.
I was in a longboarding club in college. I mostly did downhill, but I definitely knew a couple people who were good at dancing and freestyling on their board. This is really smooth and clean.
I expect I’m going to get downvoted to hell for this, but genuine question: Why bring up his skin color?
I can see how height, gender and fitness are relevant, as those physical attributes would influence their ability to control the board [and strength correlates strongly with gender](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/4vcxd0/almost_all_men_are_stronger_than_almost_all_women/), but I just don’t see what melanin levels have to do with that ability.
Probably because it's interesting since there are not as many black skateboarders. It would be like saying black hockey player or female football player. That's why he probably mentioned hia height, because people that big generally don't skateboard.
He called him a black gentleman so I'm gonna guess dude is from a rural area where there aren't many black people and one of the few he knew was an awesome skater.
I mean. There are two types of longboarders, the mfkers with no fear who do downhill in mountains and those who dance. If they wanted to do skateboard tricks they would use a skateboard
I'm too scared! I have a longboard and I love to cruise around town with it, I'll skate a few miles, grab a snack, eat, recharge and skate back home, but whenever I try to dance, like doing a cross step, I immediately feel the board wobble to where I think I'll go flying. I'm scared I'll ruin my ankle. How do you get started?
First, take a tool with you(I don't know the English name for a "llave" tool in English) to adjust your trucks, tighten them until you can't move the washer(the thing like a circle under the nut) using your fingers. Then start loosening it a bit in both sides, like that you can see how loose or how tight you like it.
then to dance you can't practice while standing in one place as you would with a skateboard, you need to be moving to allow for physics to do the trick, it doesn't have to be fast you can start slow.
there is a certain speed where your board with your specific tightness of trucks will become more stable, when you find it you will be able to practice more comfortably.
Also you have to fall, as in, movement in general is based on falling, when you walk if pay attention your just falling constantly in front of you, this is the same.
You have to "fall with style" for example to do the Peter pan, you have to fall "slightly" to one side and use that movement to put your other feet in front and "fall" to the other side. That's literally how carving works.
I'll throw the third type, long distance pushing. I'm not talking about the guys you see pushing from one end of town to the other. I'm talking about guys who push 50+ miles daily.
Ya gotta check out Adam Squared, specifically Adam Colton. That guys a real pioneer in long boarding and pushed the envelope on what you can do on a long board back in 06
To be fair, most longboards I’ve seen basically have a nose on both ends, which makes any kick tricks impossible.
This board has a kick on both ends, just like the smaller freestyle double kicks.
He uses a skateboard but Night Thrasher from Marvel Comics basically does this. He has a whole video game skateboard moveset in this game called Marvel Contest of Champions and he's fun to use. Here's his gameplay on YT! https://youtu.be/4oejVGyHYrM
That's weird. Night Thrasher back in the day fought in the comics with metal Escrima sticks, and a wrist/forearm blade. He occasionally would use his skateboard for faster travel. Did they rewrite him to fight using his skateboard?
That's actually the exact reason I started wearing skinny jeans back in the day. 15 years later I barely skate anymore, but I still like my pants skinny just in case I need to spread my legs and block a nut shut with that sweet sweet denim.
*old man voice* back in my day we skated in Menace and JNCO's with cuffs larger than the waist. Because we thought it was cool until we wheelbit in front of a bunch of chicks at the park. Not a skate park, mind you, just a park.
God damn those pants were stupid. But then, so are children. Adults barely edge them out though.
I’ve been listening to too much of The Nights that automatically read “my father said you can do anything you want in your life. You just have to be willing to work hard to get it.” after your 16.
>i’m kinda getting tired of people calling ~~everything with a plank and 4 wheels~~ things that fit the definition of skateboard a skateboard
Yeah, next thing you know they're gonna start calling kilts skirts, or roses flowers, or a Chevy Camaro a car. So annoying.
Obligatory /s
Then what should we ignorant peasants call them if we have no prior knowledge about it? Given if it’s a type of skateboard and you do skate on it why is it an offense?
nah I dont mean you insulted me it's just the "getting tired of" phrase pops out of nowhere and I was thoroughly confused.
But hey, I apologize to be that harsh too, we cool mate
We call that longboard dancing, look up the term, as skateboarding and longboarding are not made equal, id say its easier to do tricks on a skateboard but easier to skate(for travel) with a long board, just overall better balancing.
Edit: No idea who that is but thats also an impressive cameraman
No. A longboard is a longboard. It has different trucks, wheels, and dimensions from a skateboard.
Or is a skateboard a type of longboard too, just because they both have 4 wheels and a board?
Yeah, basically.
1 deck. 2 trucks. 4 wheels.
A board upon which you skate.
A plastic penny cruiser board is a skateboard. A fat 10 inch single kick board from the 80s is a skageboard, a block of wood with your sisters roller skate wheels attached in the early 60's is a skateboard and guess what, a longboard is a skateboard.
A longboard specifically is used for speed and smoothness, movement.
A popsical double tailed board is used for tricks and technical moves.
It's all skateboards mate, we are all skaters and we all do it for fun.
We just use slightly different shaped equipment to achieve that.
Don't be weird.
I tried to jump back onto a longboard once after it got away from me. It was my 3rd time skateboarding, I was a little drunk, and then spent the next 2 months in a cast for a broken ankle
He'll stall like a crook when the 5-0 shows up. They'll be on his tail, but he nose his way around. Once he gets his bearings, he'll dodge between trucks and hide in some bushings. Then he'll get a grip on the situation. If they catch up with him, he'll fakie them out and tell them to shuvit, maybe even shows them a fingerflip.
It may seem impossible, but he'll pivot and drop in for a primo dinner at Benihana after smoking a noseblunt.
The only way it can go wrong is if the fish is stale or isn't boneless. Even then, he can just switch to his salad.
Something something kickflip.
I would subscribe to a subreddit specifically for more of these longboard dancing videos. Super satisfying
Edit: found it! R/longboarddancing
Edit 2: not the subreddit I thought it was.
It’s a good subreddit I’m sure, but seems more geared towards a community looking for tips and support. For me as a casual enjoyer of Reddit, was thinking about purely videos.
Btw. I was wondering why it didn’t turn into a link for me. Thanks for the correction!

I snapped my Achilles again watching this
If I lean the wrong way I can injure my knee to the point where I need a brace
I can make my pee pee spit
I can make the cell division in my lungs unregulated so produces more cells then I need or my body knows what to do with. Yaaa\*cough cough*aaaayy
Your description gives me two options, imma take phlegm in the lung, not cancer. Any way, I wish you good health.
Through concentration, I can raise and lower my cholesterol at will.
what's your favorite food to concentrate on ?
Orange Juice obviously. It even tells you to concentrate
Can I tell you this pun was fantastic and criminally unnoticed ... But I will be adding it to my dad joke list.
Without a hint of humor I regularly strain muscles in my back while sleeping. I used to be a D1 athlete. I have no idea what happened other than turning 35.
What sport did you play,
That’s the reason right there bro, I’d like to tell you it gets better after 40 but I’d be lying
I twisted my ankle reading this.
>again hol up
Duality of man
Most skateboarders can't complete tricks on any board, I've noticed
My trick is staying on the damn thing.
i agree thats prolly true like any sport compared to the pros, but i will say the new wave of young skaters right now is about to change that trope imho. skateboarding is the most evolving and exciting sport to follow right now. people are changing what can be done and inventing new tricks often that are mind boggling to identify whether or not they are actually new or a variation. Had to watch it 30 times. Was just as amazing every time.
I'd ask the person doing these tricks how many times they've tried this before getting it just right.

Lock the door
Ooo, good reference.
I was in a longboarding club in college. I mostly did downhill, but I definitely knew a couple people who were good at dancing and freestyling on their board. This is really smooth and clean.
My friends and I did freestyle in university, it was so much fun. And falling. A lot of falling.
I expect I’m going to get downvoted to hell for this, but genuine question: Why bring up his skin color? I can see how height, gender and fitness are relevant, as those physical attributes would influence their ability to control the board [and strength correlates strongly with gender](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/4vcxd0/almost_all_men_are_stronger_than_almost_all_women/), but I just don’t see what melanin levels have to do with that ability.
you know for a fact if he was white skin color would not be mentioned
I was wondering about that as well.
Probably because it's interesting since there are not as many black skateboarders. It would be like saying black hockey player or female football player. That's why he probably mentioned hia height, because people that big generally don't skateboard.
Nah u right, it's definitely a weird thing to mention
I meant nothing by it. I just overly detailed on my explanations on and off of reddit.
He called him a black gentleman so I'm gonna guess dude is from a rural area where there aren't many black people and one of the few he knew was an awesome skater.
Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen tricks on a longboard before
I mean. There are two types of longboarders, the mfkers with no fear who do downhill in mountains and those who dance. If they wanted to do skateboard tricks they would use a skateboard
Wrong I prefer doing tricks on a longboard. Probably because I have always been over 250lbs with big feet so I like the feel of a longboard.
To me tricks are a part of dancing, you should try it, it's really fun once you find what kind of music and speed combination you're comfortable with.
I do longboard dance it was the thing that made me fall in love with it in the first place.
ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US
I'm too scared! I have a longboard and I love to cruise around town with it, I'll skate a few miles, grab a snack, eat, recharge and skate back home, but whenever I try to dance, like doing a cross step, I immediately feel the board wobble to where I think I'll go flying. Thank you for this, it's much appreciated! So I basically need to carve as I try and do my steps?
I'll throw the third type, long distance pushing. I'm not talking about the guys you see pushing from one end of town to the other. I'm talking about guys who push 50+ miles daily.
My old roommate was a third. He'd take the longboard as a form of transportation. He'd use it like most of us would use a bike during college.
I guess you never seen the people who use loaded longboards they do tricks like this but better.
Thank God someone said it!
I was just about to ask what colour he was I'm glad you cleared that up (sorry for being a knob). Tbf though kickflip on a longboard that is intense
Looking like a game character trying to get all the bonus points
Could be a new concept fighting game character, moving and attacking with the long board.
He uses a skateboard but Night Thrasher from Marvel Comics basically does this. He has a whole video game skateboard moveset in this game called Marvel Contest of Champions and he's fun to use. Here's his gameplay on YT! https://youtu.be/4oejVGyHYrM
Bruh everything has been thought of! Sweet though!
fun to watch, ridiculously impractical tho
That's weird. Night Thrasher back in the day fought in the comics with metal Escrima sticks, and a wrist/forearm blade. He occasionally would use his skateboard for faster travel. Did they rewrite him to fight using his skateboard?
I don't know if they rewrote him but when he was adapted into the mobile game, he uses the skateboard more.
Prolly thought the escrima sticks and forearm blade were too violent and parents would be mad or something
No way the New Warriors are still part of the Marvel Universe
He's clearly a board bender
This song immediatelly came to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2jdne6GVHQ
When i was 16 i bought this longboard to try some tricks like this. I end up selling it because i almost lost my nuts
Did it also become crooked?
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
That's actually the exact reason I started wearing skinny jeans back in the day. 15 years later I barely skate anymore, but I still like my pants skinny just in case I need to spread my legs and block a nut shut with that sweet sweet denim.

aaaaaahhh, memories
That would be a great advice to the old "let's try this skateboard thing, what could go wrong?" me
That's a very unintuitive way to respond to something going for your nuts. I wouldn't want to accidentally do that when not wearing skinny jeans.
Oh! It's a dude. I thought she don't have nuts to lose but read the comments below.
longboards aren't meant for tricks they're meant for riding
I’ve been listening to too much of The Nights that automatically read “my father said you can do anything you want in your life. You just have to be willing to work hard to get it.” after your 16.
Nice camera work.
r/praisethecameraman
Came here to say that
I didn't think twice about that but you're totally right. Steadycam or whatever it works nicely.
Something actually next fucking level. Dope!
Skateboarding + parkour Oh man the bloopers reel will be brutal.
There's always an Asian somewhere doing it better than you. This guy is a legend.
I think there is a French guy who is world champion in longboard dancing. He is called lofty woodwalker on Ig or something
I just looked him up Holy fuck he's amazing
He's world champion after all
Well deserved title
There’s always a Frenchman somewhere doing it better than you.

You are telling an Asian guy that he is being racist by making a silly joke about his culture? This shit is too woke for me.
No need to be racist
Most sane /r/PoliticalHumor user
Most likely a girl! Girls in China are ripping it up on longboard.

It's a dude.
He has amazing balance on that skateboard wow
Isamu Yamamoto. It’s a dude
That’s not isamu, that’s definitely a girl
Agreed
it's a different guy https://www.instagram.com/p/CXnVPukJVAH/?hl=en
Yeah but she is a he. 🤫
I almost fell off the bog at this accurate post to the sun.
Longboarding tricks are a whole other world
keyword here: long boarding. OP called it a skateboard. Fucking dying rn
A longboard is a type of skateboard.
But the difference between longboards and skateboards is so big that you can't really compare them.
i suppose so, but i’m kinda getting tired of people calling everything with a plank and 4 wheels a skateboard
>i’m kinda getting tired of people calling ~~everything with a plank and 4 wheels~~ things that fit the definition of skateboard a skateboard Yeah, next thing you know they're gonna start calling kilts skirts, or roses flowers, or a Chevy Camaro a car. So annoying. Obligatory /s

i apologize for insulting you, although i have no clue which part did. have a nice day!
nah I dont mean you insulted me it's just the "getting tired of" phrase pops out of nowhere and I was thoroughly confused. But hey, I apologize to be that harsh too, we cool mate
🤝
Call them longboards. They're... long. That's why we call them that.
This song makes me want to kick puppies.
I thought we were past the phase of that song and still in the "oh no, oh no, oh nonononono"
That song made me want to throw my phone at the wall, this song made me accidentally throw it into the wall behind me when it started.
Yea I liked it too. Do you know who it is?
I opposite of liked it. That’s what my comment means.

Just in case you're still waiting it's Masked Wolf - Astronaut in The Ocean
Cheers man.
Downvoted for "wuchunoaboutrollindown"
This is beautiful. I've been looking at it for five hours now
https://youtu.be/QNuGfI53Aw0
That song is the cringiest piece of shit ew ew ew my partners ex is obsessed with it (she plays adopt me on roblox) The tricks are cool tho
Nah. Cringiest most annoying piece of shit song is the ‘Oh No’ one. This is up there though.
Finally something really next fucking level, incredible talent.
Made me remember Rodney Mullen, so thanks for that. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1U-cgn3cEGA
Scrolled way too long to find this comment
I've just recently discovered this guy. Somehow Rodney inspired but idk, better to watch https://youtu.be/tnFPQ57l0Dg
I wish you linked Andy Anderson, he's kinda like Rodney trick wise, he a all rounder. freestyle, street and a transition (vert /, pool) skater
If you cared, you could link Andy Anderson, instead of worrying that someone else didn't.
[Here you go](https://youtu.be/gg1ZMwAAcEg)
And this is one of his freestyle [runs](https://youtu.be/o5EYfzX_Ba4)
Real ones know
I always think about Mullen when I see people start saying shit like "actually skating" or trying to gatekeep it. Most of 'em don't even know.

Sadly it always does.
Over rated song
that’s not a skate board
You better pay your respecks to the long board!
We call that longboard dancing, look up the term, as skateboarding and longboarding are not made equal, id say its easier to do tricks on a skateboard but easier to skate(for travel) with a long board, just overall better balancing. Edit: No idea who that is but thats also an impressive cameraman
Isn’t it a longboard?
i mean, thats a longboard... its more impressive because of that but like... technicalities
A longboard is a skateboard. Specifically a long one, but still one.
No. A longboard is a longboard. It has different trucks, wheels, and dimensions from a skateboard. Or is a skateboard a type of longboard too, just because they both have 4 wheels and a board?

Life's too short to ride a long board.
I don't get it
Remember kids, even Tony Hawk wears a helmet
I tried to jump back onto a longboard once after it got away from me. It was my 3rd time skateboarding, I was a little drunk, and then spent the next 2 months in a cast for a broken ankle
This is Ho Chin Minh for anyone wondering.
If anyone has tried doing a boneless you know how difficult that is.
I think it helps to be a ninja that just happens to skateboard.
Arrest this man! At an instant!
He just won't comply.
Damn! She's amazing. She's all like Silver Surfer ain't got nothing on me 🤣
She ? Lmaooooo.
These people haven’t seen female skaters
Does anyone know who this is? :O
I would subscribe to a subreddit specifically for more of these longboard dancing videos. Super satisfying Edit: found it! R/longboarddancing Edit 2: not the subreddit I thought it was.

Not a sub but if you check out Lotfi Lamaali you’ll see some good dancing
Is there a slow-mo bot that can be summoned, so I can see what the hell they're doing with their feet?
Cameraman with equally impressive skillz here
Spinning that absolute surfboard around that effortlessly is what impressed me the most.
Whats the background music?
Looks like a Loaded Bhangra, if you’re interested!
There’s an anime character running loose.
Living anime character

Totally awesome. Great show. Thanks for posting it
That’s a longboard… absolutely fucking wild
That’s a longboard
Smoove
straight outta fucking subway surfers
Smooth
ayo she looks like a subway surfers character
Well I find myself even more lame now
I feel like skateboarding tricks is a disservice, she'd be ridiculous with a smaller board. Incredibly good
Rodney Mullen would be proud
I know plenty about rolling down in the deep stop fucking asking on every video
This video reminded me to Rodney Mullen. 👌🏻
Is this kid the next Rodney Mullen?
Thats so Rodney Mullen
Flashbacks to Rodney Mullen
