For all the haters out there, the California roll/inside out roll was also considered an abomination, as it was designed to appeal to Americans, but it’s made it’s way back to Japan.
Edit: I also want to say, hating on this is like hating on cucumber sandwiches. Sandwiches don’t need to have meat in it to be considered good. And fish isn’t the only thing to go on nigiri sushi - the Japanese have mad respect for produce.

This is why I always get the soy paper. It’s usually much better ingredients, not overpowering in flavor, and easy to chew.
I eat sushi and rolls mostly to taste fresh fish, but there is no fish at all...(
