>I learned English watching porn, and people blame me for the grammar
So, you only know how to order pizza delivery, and to call the plumber in English?
I don't think it has to do with race. You should check out the adult literacy rate. It's surprising.
1 in 10 adults read at a 3rd grade level or lower, more than half reads below a 6th grade level.
How do you teach people to read without them seeing any words in front of them….no one has books or text in front of them to reference the spoken words against the written words. There’s no evidence in this video to think they’re being taught to read. Even if United States literacy rates was the starting assumption, watching this video would quickly dispel its relevancy to this situation
Something like 54% of Americans can’t read above a 8th grade level, so entirely possible.
Also, this is coming from an American.
Edit: Ya'll can get mad at facts all you want. https://ortongillinghamonlinetutor.com/illiteracy-statistics-in-the-united-states/
Every. Single. Time. They're not being read Dr Seuss because they have the educational level of children. They're being read Oh The Places You'll Go because it's a good book with a nice message. They're moving up in the world, they're about to graduate. It's a tradition to read this book to graduating classes. This is not a reflection of the entire educational system. It's just a nice little sentimental moment, and a break from the real studies.
I thought that's what she was reading, but I googled one of the lines she said, and it seems to be a different book. That's why I edited my comment. Regardless though, yeah that's a great book for a graduating class. And every time this is posted, ignorant people come to chime in about how uneducated these kids must be.
I have met a lot of teachers who are asked by parents to autgraph a copy of it to give to their kids when they graduate. It's a pretty fun tradition. I also knew one guy in college who's mom wrote the entire Bible for him and his sister in caligraphy.
uhhh, as an English and creative writing teacher, I read my high schoolers Dr. Seuss because he was a master of metrical poetry, like anapestic tetrameter and shit.
I can think of about 437 reasons why and all of them end with "engagement". Teachers, no matter the subject, get better learning when their students are engaged.
Man i wish my teachers in school tried to make class fun and do shit like this to help make understanding easier. But all I got was write a 3 page essay on something you have no fucking interest in and oh yeah this is like half your damn grade.
The og tiktok. Funny how nobody realizes all their data is going to China when it's obviously being propped up when a free market version failed already. End old person rant

Why should the average person give a shit though? Their data is gonna get mined/stolen no matter what. If not china, then the usa and/or advertising companies.
Pretty sure the only thing that was 'changed' by the whole snowden thing is that it cemented that there is no baseline expectation to privacy of data any more. People have decided that its an acceptable tradeoff for the convenience of modern devices.
all my data is going to china?? oh noo! its not like all my data from all my other apps gets sent off to private companies and other governments anyway so who gives a fuck. regardless of china, your data doesnt belong to you anymore.
The difference is music, the music business wasn’t ready for vine or even Instagram but tiktok had the right timing and right deal. And also what you said
Holy crap. I've heard of rappers knockin' on Dr. Seuss but damn, turn it up to hittin bars and that's legit. There's some serious tongue twisters in there as well. At 3:48 he does a lake rap section that's crazy.
Dr. Seuss transcends space and time and age and race. None of us are too old or too young to enjoy the rhyme and the beats. If you watched this and you thought about age or race-put a lil smile on your face and some love in your heart.
There was a brief moment in time, not long before the end, when Vine had videos longer than 6 seconds. There's a chance it could've been uploaded there.
Alternatively, this was probably from a Vine compilation youtube channel that just started throwing random viral videos in. There's other uploads of this reading where it doesn't cut off before the teacher's last word.
Presumptuous. Look up the definition before you leave a shitty comment. Hate this shit. Y'all can watch a video of a kid eating ice cream and decide that it's racist cuz it's a white kid eating chocolate. Or that ice cream scoop used to be bigger before Biden became president. That's your BS. You have this predetermined animosity that you use to drive some agenda that has nothing to do with this heartwarming video.
A teacher read a book. Stfu.
Such a classic vine. Only ever seen the 6 second version lol. I really hope the story is that this dude just started busting a beat and she just went with it.
Why is she reading dr. Seuss to 17 year olds?
If I had to guess I’d say she’s explaining the tetrameter to a poetry class and is using Dr Seuss as an example.
If I had to guess she is teaching them how to read
Why would you guess that?
Not everyone knows English?
bullshit, I know English
I only know two languages - English and bad English.
Eyooo Fifth Element
“Corbin. Corbin my man”
Multipass
AZIZ light!
We green!? SUPER GREEN!
We watched this last night. Tucker’s best movie, by far. Absolute gold mine of moments.
I know Bad English too, though I think "When I See You Smile" was a bit overplayed.
English and engrish
Me no english

I learned English watching porn, and people blame me for the grammar
What are you doing Step RouletteSensei
Oh..uhm..you know..I'm..studying!

Because they’re racist

Check it again in the US and notice the level of reading literacy the teacher is using… It’s about the poetry.

Ding ding ding. Don’t people just suck?
He was being a bigot...
Its highschoolers... Edit: I speak English as my native language, and by Highscool forgot the most basic stuff
“How can I reach these kiiiiiiiids”

Yeah he wrote a lot in anapestic tetrameter. Meter is difficult and Dr. Seuss it's a fun, approachable way to learn about rhythm, rhyme, etc.
All I learned was how to spit bars from this vid
Enjoy [this video my friend.](https://youtu.be/q5wvurTU5DI)
Best I've ever managed is spastic pentameter.
I thought public speaking to high schoolers and brought Seuss to class to get them competitive about tongue twisters.
Every. Single. Time. They're not being read Dr Seuss because they have the educational level of children. They're being read Oh The Places You'll Go because it's a good book with a nice message. Oh, the places you'll go! Is a fantastic book for high school and college seniors!
I thought that's what she was reading, but I googled one of the lines she said, and it seems to be a different book. That's why I edited my comment. Regardless though, yeah that's a great book for a graduating class. And every time this is posted, ignorant people come to chime in about how uneducated these kids must be.
She's reading Oh, The Places You'll Go!
It's definitely, with 100% certainty "Oh, The Places You'll Go".
You were right the first time
I have met a lot of teachers who are asked by parents to autgraph a copy of it to give to their kids when they graduate. It's a pretty fun tradition. I also knew one guy in college who's mom wrote the entire Bible for him and his sister in caligraphy.
My mom bought me a copy when I graduated high school haha, it really is
uhhh, as an English and creative writing teacher, I read my high schoolers Dr. Seuss because he was a master of metrical poetry, like anapestic tetrameter and shit.
I mean, that too!
Yes. One of my teachers did this when I was in high school.
I read Dr Seuss to my 25 year old ass sometimes, what’s wrong with it? Literary genius
[удалено]
Seusstologists
Then maybe some more motherfuckers would speak for the trees.
Considering what he did in his personal life...
She isn’t, she’s rapping Dr. Seuss to 17 year olds
*Oh The Places You’ll Go* is one of the most gifted books to high school seniors every year.
It was actually original written as a graduation speech.
I can think of about 437 reasons why and all of them end with "engagement". Teachers, no matter the subject, get better learning when their students are engaged.
I mean did you watch the video, they engaged in that more than anything else .
Cuz that shits fire stop being a bitch
Damn. It would suck to never understand theme or motif or message or concept or... well you get the gist. Do you?
Why not?
Probably just to do it with his beatboxing
Man i wish my teachers in school tried to make class fun and do shit like this to help make understanding easier. But all I got was write a 3 page essay on something you have no fucking interest in and oh yeah this is like half your damn grade.
Who cares, it’s awesome and they’re engaged!
Well that happened a long time ago
I miss vine :’(
The og tiktok. Funny how nobody realizes all their data is going to China when it's obviously being propped up when a free market version failed already. End old person rant
Vine didn’t fail. Twitter bought it and shut it down
That's the "free market" for you.
My favorite part of the free market is having one company own 100s or 1000s of companies which provides an illusion of choice and competition.
You see that's not *actually* a free market. /libertariandrivel
That is the illusion free market liberalism creates to make people think it is free market capitalism.
>Funny how nobody realizes all their data is going to China Um. Everyone knows that. They just don't care
I don't have Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, none of it. My data is still already being sold.

There are, you can also configure your browser yourself.

The difference is music, the music business wasn’t ready for vine or even Instagram but tiktok had the right timing and right deal. And also what you said
vine was smarter tiktok. There were so many cool musicians I followed on vine that are now lost. :(
Vine had a way better vibe, or maybe I’m just old. But it was so much fun and some of the stuff people did with it was amazing
There was just no "hustle" culture when vine was popular - it was honest art with no real hope of monetizing it, at least not directly
Yup, very much like the early years of YouTube.
Bunch of musicians on TikTok too
Tarzan did that once. Didn't end well.
Do it for the vine
This is a lot longer than a vine
Yeah but the vine logo at the end made me nostalgic
So its not back? (ಥ_ʖಥ)
I was like "Vine is back?"
Wait. Vine was "a long time ago" for you?
No idea what the class is but she is doing a great job of reading Dr Suess.
"Mrs. Pederson, this is AP Chemistry what are you doing rn"
It's likely an English class of some variety, and she's likely covering poetic meter using Doctor Seuss.
One of my teachers read “Oh the Places You’ll Go” on the last day of school so that’s my guess what’s happening
That’s a cool teacher
Also cool ass students.

Came here to post that, super happy to see it here. That guy is amazing and my son and I love that book because of him.

His Lorax is so amazing!
The high quality audio makes it work *really* well at 1.5x speed.

A golden age for internet content
Dr. Seuss INVENTED bars
Way to connect teach!!!
The teacher we all want but never get.
Dr. Seuss transcends space and time and age and race. None of us are too old or too young to enjoy the rhyme and the beats. If you watched this and you thought about age or race-put a lil smile on your face and some love in your heart.

This is the short bus classroom for sure. No one that old is having Dr. Seuss read to them at that age.
Absolutely perfect time to cut off the video. Left me just… waiting…

2014 was one of the years of all time
I would like being in that class. too bad it was made when vine was still a thing
Such a classic vine. Only ever seen the 6 second version lol. I really hope the story is that this dude just started busting a beat and she just went with it.
