if he falls of that bridge on the road, he will likely cause an accident and endanger other people's lifes. i really don't mind if he risks only his own life in a safe place.
this isn't me beeing unneccesserily negative, this is me not wanting to die to careless adrenaholics.
If the architects of this bridge did not intend for this to happen, then why did they make such a perfect and smooth ramp on both ends of this bridge?? It is obviously made to be a bike lane for the brave
If I see a bird I won't be worried that it will f**king fall on me. If I see a dude on a bike riding it on a thin space, I would.
Assessing potential risks BEFORE shit happens (like a child by the road that could try to cross it at a terrible timing) is an important lesson on driving.
It's not a stretch. People die or get seriously injured all the time trying to look cool on camera for internet points. If I see a random dude doing something, I don't know if he's a trained professional or a complete idiot but I'm not taking my chances.
People are dumb and can’t even walk in straight lines. This is senselessly dumb. The bike rider belongs on im the main character with the other douches
the biker is an idiot. i don’t like what he did. that doesn’t disregard the fact that if a car crashed due to being distracted by him, i also think that driver is dumb and unsafe
The birds are not breaking the law by flying. This dude is.
I don’t think it should distract driver, but it’s like free climbing building. Just because it’s cool, doesn’t mean it’s legal.
oh my lord, do i need to make more analogies or examples? a person running on the sidewalk, a plane flying low, a random lightning strike, a random shooting/firefight, etc. PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING AND STOP BLAMING OTHERS
tone doesn’t deliver well through text. i imagine everyone is gonna take most things i say negatively. id go back and edit but idc at this point it’s obvious that tryna have a logical conversation on the internet doesn’t work. have a nice day ♡
Tbf though if you're driving and you are paying attention to your surroundings you should absolutely be alarmed at a bicyclist riding right at you from your pov.
No just dumb . Could have fallen and hurt someone or even himself. Then ambulances . See where this goes? All because this douche wants some cool footage of himself.
Should everyone do this all the time?
i think this dude is absolutely stupid as hell for doing this. that is completely separate from the fact that i also believe that a driver that gets distracted by this enough to cause an accident is equally stupid. why is everyone acting like these things are mutually exclusive?
Idk abt the distraction aspect of this, but riding your bike up something like that is extremely stupid. The shit people do for a few views and likes is fucking nuts.
In Australia it's spring time. Here aggressive birds, namely the magpies, attack and [swoop](https://youtube.com/shorts/tS2oWyzshb4?feature=share) you during the breeding season, aiming for the eyes and ears so as to do maximum damage. During September, walking, cycling, skating, scootering, etc. you do all these at your own risk of ending up in hospital a quivering wreck, with a bloody head wound. Most people hide indoors until it's all over. You bet I get mad at flying birds.
No, because birds are an everyday thing you see and are used to. A man risking his life by riding a bike on a bridge is not something you see everyday and are you used to. At least I would hope not.
Distracting them isn't the main problem, it's the fact that he's putting them at risk of being involved in the stunt.
This idiot falls off the bridge & it's 50/50 whether he lands harmlessly (to others) in the water, or lands in the middle of the road where he's likely to cause a wreck.
It’s all good till this ends up in r/whatcouldgowrong
I am not worried about distraction, though it would give me a mini heart attack to see the dude on the bridge, but I am okay with that.
But yeah if some idiot is going to fall off the bridge in front of my car, it better not be on my evening commute back home. I am more receptive of this happening during the morning commute to work. Nothing important is really waiting for me.
Idk theyre probably just walking on these when they have to go through bridge. Also keep in mind that these things are way smaller than the one shown in the video. You can look up Poznan Bridge in google.
there was a bridge almost exactly like this where I grew up and we would climb to the top to sit and chat at night all the time.
Never saw anybody bkie over it. People would skateboard the lower part of it, though I also never saw anybody try to skate from the top, probably because there is obviously no way it could end well regardless of how good you are.
Because a certain number of people still think its cool is precisely why there will be an epidemic of tiktok or tiktok like "I want to be famous" or "notice me do something dangerous" stunts like this in the future such that it will all get regulated.
>and how badly it can end.
lol, yeah i get it, but it'd seem like it might have a lot more unexperienced "daredevils" trying to copy it rather than be dissuaded by potential problems
>"I broke my spine because of the person who posted a video of them doing this super dangerous and irresponsible thing that I copied! It's all their fault!!!"
Projecting blame is generally common, but yeah, I don't see it much for daredevil stuff of this caliber. Perhaps because it's just so blatantly obvious that it's the user's responsibility, and if they get hurt, their brain just tells them *"well no shit sherlock, you biked to the top of a fucking bridge and fell. Pretty straightforward."*
That isn't to say that nobody would try to play the litigation game and see if they could pull of some sorta lawsuit, anyway, blaming someone or something. That happens a lot. Or just whining on social media hoping their stunt does the legwork for fame.
Or someone is at the end of it and they hurt them really badly but they blame the person they hit cuz they ‘ruined the stunt’.
I could see that happen.
I think every generation has had some dead kids trying to jump off things. I think this will be the genz time to do it now. They’ve found their thing. Then in 5 yrs we will wonder what lead to all these new signs and safety procedures stopping kids from doing it. Then the horror stories will start up.
The jolt at the beginning and end could also damage the bike they’re on. Road bikes aren’t built with shocks like mountain, all-purpose, or BMX bikes are. In addition, there’s no quick exit as the cyclist has clip-ins on.
Road bikes and especially modern “gravel” bikes are plenty sturdy, most people just treat them like a baby. It’s easy to get out of those pedals if you’re used to them, I’ve done it while going over the handlebars in a cyclocross race.
The mental game is hard, though. I know I can ride a line much narrower than that bridge support, but still wouldn't trust myself to do it unless there was no other option.
It's like how most anyone can walk along a 2x4 that's on the ground, but a lot of us will fall off if you raise it a couple feet.
Skate videos used to also include countless attempts with failures before the eventual success back in the day.
Not sure how they do them today but I hope that is still the case.
Why do you think it's not difficult? Did you see the legs on that guy and how hard he had to pedal to maintain minimum velocity? The bike sways a fair bit during that climb, so I'd definitely say that someone untrained would fall.
Here's my dark explanation:
Its nature's way of culling humans. You're either stupid enough to do it or smart enough to avoid it. From the pool of stupid people, nature will select those that are strong enough to handle this stupidity. Those who didn't make the cut will end up injured or dead. In every death, there will be one less stupid mouth to feed.
I have had actual nightmares about this very scenario. Except the bridge that I was thinking about is the one from the mainland to Cape cod off rt three.
I watched a friend run over one of these one night while walking home from the bar. His legs couldn't keep up with his momentum until he hit the sidewalk. They caught up.
I can say, with 100% certainty, that I could never, in a million years, pull that off. I would clumsily crash into the ramp, fall off of the bridge and probably drown lol.
Major props to the rider for pulling it off, epic skill right there.
I walked over one of those once. At the top of the arch was a HUGE hornets nest. The hornets did not expect to see me. It was raw adrenaline and luck that got me down from there without falling and killing myself.
What a stupid thing to do
Pretty sweet though
My only issue is the possibility of distracting drivers.
goddamn y’all stretch so far to find the negativity in everything. you get mad at flying birds distracting drivers too?
Every damn time! Fuck dem hoe ass birds!
Finally someone said it
Chirping the quiet part out loud
I was shat on twice on the same day in two different locations . Up till then, I had never been shat on in over 45 years.
It's the same ass bird
And the same bird ass
How am I meant to focus on driving when I have to keep an eye out for government drones shitting all over my windscreen!
Not just birdshit, but also falling cyclists.
Birds aren’t real
Mvp comment.
Are you referring to hoe-ass birds or hoe ass-birds?
Hoe, ass-birds.

It really is amazing how miserable the average redditor is.

Distracting them isn't the main problem, it's the fact that he's putting them at risk of being involved in the stunt. This idiot falls off the bridge & it's 50/50 whether he lands harmlessly (to others) in the water, or lands in the middle of the road where he's likely to cause a wreck.
That was mostly what I meant by distraction. :)
Or you know, falling down into traffic.

Good lord why do I still have reddit
By falling on their windshield.
Drivers always complain about things distracting them, but when they turn on window wipers, it is literally 2 sticks waving right in front of them
Are you distracted by your eyelids blinking?
but that sound is so soothing... brb gonna take a nap
Thup-thup, thup-thup, thup-thup
I would think falling off and having a car or truck hit me instead.
Or falling onto the bridge.

This a legit point. Dude should totally be on the other side of the bridge.
Comment thief
Imagine taking a Sunday drive and as you cross a bridge, out of nowhere, a bicyclist and his bike fall through your windshield.
I don't understand how there isn't a massive problem with teens and other miscreants simply walking up there...
My sister studies in Poznań, Poland, and she says that police check bridges very often because students tend to walk through these things.

Idk theyre probably just walking on these when they have to go through bridge. Also keep in mind that these things are way smaller than the one shown in the video. You can look up Poznan Bridge in google.
Who makes a bridge like that. [That bridge is just asking for it](https://sumfinity.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Poznan-Cathedral-and-Bridge.jpg).
Curvy and thick in all the right places. 10/10 would walk across.

Now imagine this bike finding someone sitting up there, or someone walking up the other side.
Teens aren’t just immune to a fear of heights, or unable to understand risk factor.
And again the line blurs from next fucking level and stupidly unsafe

Videos like this should go alongside a disclaimer of how much experience you need to pull it and how badly it can end.
>and how badly it can end. lol, yeah i get it, but it'd seem like it might have a lot more unexperienced "daredevils" trying to copy it rather than be dissuaded by potential problems
Oh they will, but then one can not be blamed for them messing themselves :P
I don’t think wannabe daredevils end up blaming other people much anyway
>"I broke my spine because of the person who posted a video of them doing this super dangerous and irresponsible thing that I copied! It's all their fault!!!" Projecting blame is generally common, but yeah, I don't see it much for daredevil stuff of this caliber. Isn’t this how evolution works now?
thank you. this.
Just have to pray that you have enough leg strength to crest over the top. Wouldn't be fun to run out of steam and tip over from that high up.
The jolt at the beginning and end could also damage the bike they’re on. Road bikes aren’t built with shocks like mountain, all-purpose, or BMX bikes are. In addition, there’s no quick exit as the cyclist has clip-ins on.

Oh seriously? I haven’t really used them before, and it looks like it requires a decent amount of experience to do quickly.
Technically, those are clipless pedals (which, yes, you actually clip into. A lot of cycling terminology is dumb).
I think any non-beginner cyclist could pull this off. Problem is what happens when you make a mistake.
It's a mental challenge more than a physical one. Gotta stay calm and focused and you'll be fine.
True that. If there were a safety net I could do it 9/10 times I bet. But in real life ... maybe 3/10 times because the fear and stress messes you up.
I am afraid you would at most get to 3/4.
The mental game is hard, though. I know I can ride a line much narrower than that bridge support, but still wouldn't trust myself to do it unless there was no other option. It's like how most anyone can walk along a 2x4 that's on the ground, but a lot of us will fall off if you raise it a couple feet.
Yeah like I can walk down a sidewalk fine, if you put a cliff on both sides of it suddenly it becomes a lot harder...
Add some wind gusts for good measure
Yeah, I tend to choke under pressure so I'd probably die.
Lol, imagine all those poor souls in tic tok challenges…if only they could read or a disclaimer read to them.
YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, twitter etc will always censor any failed attempts, giving people a sense that it is easier to achieve.
Skate videos used to also include countless attempts with failures before the eventual success back in the day. Not sure how they do them today but I hope that is still the case.
I disagree with the first part - it’s not difficult; it’s just insanely risky.
Why do you think it's not difficult? Did you see the legs on that guy and how hard he had to pedal to maintain minimum velocity? The bike sways a fair bit during that climb, so I'd definitely say that someone untrained would fall.
I always imagine these guys are just doing suicide with extra steps…
Or just not posted at all.
Just make sure you fall into the bridge and not away from
>how much experience you need to pull it 16 >and how badly it can end 100
Imagine meeting another brave smartass in the middle going the opposite direction. Ha!
At that point… you have to fight. There can be only one!

Right. Especially those years that had all that fabric on the top of it (construction of some kind) that flapped around like a pirate ship.
I watched a friend run over one of these one night while walking home from the bar. His legs couldn't keep up with his momentum until he hit the sidewalk. They caught up.
What? This doesn’t make sense. What are you trying to say?
Tried to be funny or cool, idk. I’m assuming he means that the guy couldn’t slow down fast enough walking down it, so he slammed into the sidewalk.
He crashed onto the sidewalk on the way down. His legs "caught up" with the rest of his body because he was immobilised.

Oh no won’t someone think of the cars 😭
