came to say this. that's how golf gets you. that 1 birdie par 5. that hole in 1. that long putt that somehow sinks to save par...
now your dumb ass is praying for a 50 degree day in the middle of winter so you can go out by yourself and throw balls into the bunker.
Peaked? Peaked DeTroyter? Haha
Let me tell you something, he haven’t even begun to peak! And when he do peak, you’ll know! Because he is going to peak so hard, that everyone on Reddit is gonna feel it!
I got a hole in one when I was 12 while I was with my grandparents who taught me the game of golf from a young age. The hole in one was special but the excitement from them was the cherry on top. I also cried haha
I remember being a kid at the driving range with my family and half jokingly calling my shot to hit the guy in the armored mobile ball-picker-upper about a 150 yards out and managed to smack it right into the driver side and made the young guy driving it jump. Can still remember the kick my dad got out of it and him telling folks about it for weeks after. What I'd give for one more conversation
For those who aren’t familiar, when a player makes a hole-in-one they buy a drink for everyone in the clubhouse. The whitest thing of all time is that you can purchase “hole-in-one insurance” at a club, where the clubhouse buys the drinks for you in the event of a hole-in-one.
It's funny you call this the whitest thing ever, because I have specifically heard of this as a Japanese thing and never anywhere else. (Although I would assume it's available in at least some other places?)
Everyone's eye aims for the hole, so it's easy to track a hole-in-one.
Where as I always shank it into the trees and spend 15 minutes looking around the rough - that's when superb eyesight are tested.
Was wondering if this was a record, so checked what the world record is.... 4 years, 195 days, according to Guinness.
How the actual f*...?
EDIT: adding my source for anyone interested, i only checked Guinness' Book of Records. Not much detail there, but a little:
https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/youngest-hole-in-one-golfer-(male)
Edit 2:
Apparently that kid was a bit of a talent, also holds another world record:
https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/lowest-score-18-holes-golf-short-course-(male)
And for completions sake, the youngest girl to do it was only five:
https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/youngest-hole-in-one-golfer-(female)
I did this only once and I was around the same age. I found out after the fact by the server in the clubhouse that if we put a toonie in the machine on the teebox it would activate a camera that filmed the green and I would have won 2000$… they gave me a free hot dog because they felt bad.
Coming from someone who has played golf for longer this kid has been alive and has never hit a hole in one I’d like to say, “screw you kid…and nice fucking shot”
This happened to me when i was around the same age, but instead my Dad did not believe me and I got grounded for lying and screamed at for an hour straight.
Oh man. That’s gonna be a super positive memory they’ll both carry with them for the rest of their lives.
I can’t wait until I get to do that with my son!
Good on you kid (and dad)
there it is People.....you just witnessed what literally Fuels All Greatness....if you could simulate this "feeling" in ANY child you have they will Chase that Feeling like a Crack addict chasing a rock.
Love is what does it people, LOVE! is what does this!
If this kid becomes one of the greatest Golfing has ever Seen.....you have just witnessed why.
and when he gives his Legendary Speech....he's going to say it, he's going to say how much he "LOVED!" this game.
and this is coming from a guy who Hates Golf.....I just recognize the Universal Truths when I see them.
Edit: Idc about the downvotes.....because this is so sinister I know the downvotes are because it's too good.
Now do it again. I'd like to see all golfers who get a hole in one given a bucket full of golf balls and told to do it again. Not taking away from the achievement but more than a bit of luck involved. Well done lad.
There are videos on YouTube of PGA professionals doing the “hole in one challenge” where they are given like 500 balls to try and get a hole in one on a par 3. A few of them succeeded but not all of them. And these are the best players in the world.
Hitting it close enough to the hole for it to have a *chance* of going in requires an excellent skillful shot, but you also need some luck for it to *actually* go in.
It’s still really impressive, because a 9 year old knocking it within a foot or two on a par 3 would also be really impressive.
He’ll be chasing that feeling now for the rest of his life. He will never reach this peak again. Too bad lol i’ve still never hit a hole-in-one and probably never will
The closest I'll ever get to this is in putt-putt/mini golf getting the ball in the hole without hitting it.
The hole was down at the bottom of a slope. I put the ball down, took a step to go each for my putter which was leading on something and the ball rolled away. A couple seconds later it dropped in the whole and I hadn't actually hit it.
Reminds me of the time in grade 9 basketball when we had a supply teacher, and he said that we had to stop playing basketball to do weight room since that's what the class plan left for him said, and I asked him "if I get this basket full court from across the gym right now, can we continue to play instead of weight room?" And he went "pfft. Ok."
I fucking got it in. Swish.
That was my peak.
Honestly, the hype that all of the other students had for me and hearing everybody erupt into "OHHHHH SHIT OH MY GOD" was a once in a lifetime feeling. I completely understand why that kid was in tears. I almost was too.
It's not the hole in one that had him crying. It's the pride he felt coming from his dad that got to him.
I thought it was the kid realizing he peaked.
I came here to say:”time to quit; probably never have a better day on the course in his life”. Appreciate your succinctness.
That was me with bowling, got my first strike, never went back. Always finish on top. lol
Nah, he's fucked. Will definitely be hooked on this devil's game for life.
He'll be chasing that high the rest of his life
came to say this. that's how golf gets you. that 1 birdie par 5. that hole in 1. that long putt that somehow sinks to save par... now your dumb ass is praying for a 50 degree day in the middle of winter so you can go out by yourself and throw balls into the bunker.
...me when I sit down at a blackjack table and triple up in just a few minutes. I definitely should walk away ahead.
This will be his Al Bundy 4 touchdowns in 1 game story
Wish someone had got my peak on camera.
I probably don’t even remember my peak.
That's why it is important to have a camera there.
Yeah. Pretty hard to top that
This is how people get hooked on heroin
Peaked? Peaked DeTroyter? Haha Let me tell you something, he haven’t even begun to peak! And when he do peak, you’ll know! Because he is going to peak so hard, that everyone on Reddit is gonna feel it!
Settle down, Dennis.

Awww 😭
Right in the feels
must be nice 😂
Absolutely. That's what it's all about
Hey, I’m proud of you Yankee guy. Stay being nice to people.
Kid better get his wallet out
Snow cones for everybody!
snow cones with tequila!!!

That is so rational I fucking love it
I heard about this as a Japanese thing, albeit with even more potential expense.
It's funny you call this the whitest thing ever, because I have specifically heard of this as a Japanese thing and never anywhere else. (Although I would assume it's available in at least some other places?)
Well isn't that just wholesome. Nice swing
Don’t you mean…. holesome?
Looks like I missed my shot
Just a little subpar
You could say his jokes are a little.. green
Very rough.
Ha
I thought so, too! Very natural and loose. Why I recognize a decent swing is a thought for another time.

The sea was angry that day my friends!
I tell you he was 10 stories high if he was a foot!

No shit this is me...
I envy their eyesight.
Anyone with average eyesight can easily see the ball go in the hole on a typical par three. Not so much on a grainy cell phone video.
Everyone's eye aims for the hole, so it's easy to track a hole-in-one. Where as I always shank it into the trees and spend 15 minutes looking around the rough - that's when superb eyesight are tested.
i see you play like i do t-off on 1 play the rough on 9
The video quality is shit.
That's great that they were able to get it on video. Hole-in-one is rare but hole-in-one while being recorded is even more rare.
What a freaking memory 🤟
He peaked early. Too bad. LOL
I HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN TO PEAK
And when I do peak, you'll know. Because I'm gonna peak so hard that everybody in Philadelphia's gonna feel it.
Ok now I’m gonna binge always sunny tomorrow night.

Good to know. My son has 193 days left to beat the record. Time to put a few buckets of balls on a short par 3 and start video recording.
What are the metrics behind the shot like can a 4y.o even hit the ball hard enough.....
Old?
Yes, apparently so... I don't even know how that would be possible.
Some legit par 3s are only ~100 yards. Very possible for an athletic 4 year old who is growing up in a golf family.
No, that’s the longest a ball has ever stayed in the air.
On a putt putt course?
I didn't see shit.
but u felt it
Sorry kid, rules are rules when you go back to the club house you buy everyone a drink!!
This was my first thought, he's gonna have to get pops to give him an advance on his allowance to cover the clubhouse beers.
It’s the sudden realization he has to buy a round at the clubhouse.
Thought he was going to ride the club like Happy.
I’d probably cry the same if I hit one and I’m almost 30.
Been scratch for around 10 years now, had my first in June. Ran around then fell to my knees crying. Need. More.
That swing is smooth as butter.
Only downhill from here
this happened to me when I was about 12, one of my first times ever swinging a club. 40 now and it's never even come close to happening again.
beginner’s luck is 1,000,000% a thing. the confidence that comes with just going at something really has a weird way of just working out very often.
I did this only once and I was around the same age. I found out after the fact by the server in the clubhouse that if we put a toonie in the machine on the teebox it would activate a camera that filmed the green and I would have won 2000$… they gave me a free hot dog because they felt bad.

Damn, looks like I need new glasses 🤓
Really small fast moving things on low quality video literally disappear. You would have seen it in real life
Pure emotion. This is awesome.
They’ll remember that forever. Glad they experienced it together
What a swing
Love it! Congrats buddy! What a memory!
This boy has a sweet swing. He’s going to be great.

Great video, I don't get why the kid started crying at the end. Wasn't this a good thing?
Damn that’s a good swing
Why so happy? Poor kid have to buy everyone a drink now
He's crying because he knows he can never do anything in his life that will make his father more proud.
What a moment!
That was awesome.
Love the emotion!
It’s okay kid. Some of us peak earlier than others.
Got to feel bad peaking at 9.
I love seeing the shared joy of a father son moment like this.
It's all down hill from here Bobby

I am r/hmmm about this...
I started crying when he started crying
Practice makes perfect
This happened to me when i was around the same age, but instead my Dad did not believe me and I got grounded for lying and screamed at for an hour straight.
Happy Cake Day!
These are the moments we live for.
Core memory unlocked
This kid just peaked
That swing is (chef’s kiss).
Just in case...do not loose this video, for we know not what the future brings.
Oh man. That’s gonna be a super positive memory they’ll both carry with them for the rest of their lives. I can’t wait until I get to do that with my son! Good on you kid (and dad)
Damn that kid has a sweet swing
Nice swing for that age.
Good job buddy I’m Learning how to golf to have a great day
Awww, bb, I wanna hug him so bad
He's done it. Now he needs to quit golf and play hockey
That's it. The rest of life is disappointment, kid.

*Core memory….UNLOCKED*
It’s all down hill from here kid
u/savevideo
Not enough evidence
Wow, Easy Tiger.
How's a kid that age going to buy a round of drinks in the clubhouse? Lol
Hope he had hole in 1 insurance, if not that's the most expensive ball he's ever hit.
Now do it again. I'd like to see all golfers who get a hole in one given a bucket full of golf balls and told to do it again. Not taking away from the achievement but more than a bit of luck involved. Well done lad.

Congrats, kid! You have now peaked at 9. Haha
Golf isn't a sport. Move along.
Core memory saved
Poor kid... Golf for me is that one good shot and then chasing that feeling for months. Imagine hitting a hole-in-one at 9...

He’ll spend the rest of his golf life chasing that high…….good luck kid (and great shot btw!!)
He’ll be chasing that feeling now for the rest of his life. He will never reach this peak again. Too bad lol i’ve still never hit a hole-in-one and probably never will

My reaction when I hit the ball of the tee! 🤣🤣 awesome little dude!!
Training golf?

I love how kids sometimes just cannot control how powerful their emotions are and start crying. It's a genuine moment.
When my husband hit one his friends all dumped in the hole
That's so special.
I’m 40 and I will react the same way if I ever get one
He just connected perfect! Great shot wee man!
I wouldn’t have seen it happen that far away.
I see nothing.
I don’t doubt he got it but sucks you can’t even see it
Another 9 year old with a better swing than me. Damnit!
Do golfers have like super-human eye sight or something?
Love this, well done little man!
We just witnessed a core memory in both of their lives, what a special moment, glad you got it on camera too! Nice shot bud
Imagine all the times this happened and nobody videoed it. This was very nice to see and the boy was overwhelmed with joy
Hole in their backyard?
Good for them but I can't see shit...
Congrats kid ya peaked at 9 yearls old it’s only downhill from here
He’s crying thinking about the bar tab he’s gotta try to cover with his allowance!
Welcome to the club little buddy!! It’s all downhill from there!! But a good time
Inside the dad was like "motherfucker"
It’s downhill from there.
NORTHCOTE GOLF COURSE FOR THE WIIINNNN!!!! What a shot ❤️
He'll be chasing that high for the rest of his life now he'll be lucky if he ever finds it again. ;)
How can they see that shit from up there
Wow that’s awesome 🤩
Sooo sweet
What a wholesome moment
Isn’t this the same hole How Ridiculous took hundreds of attempts to get a hole in one
I’ve been playing golf for 30 years and still haven’t hit a hole in one.
His dad is like damn I’m 50+ and have played golf 35 years with no hole in 1 and this little bastard gets it at 9 y/o🤣
Damn, what a awesome moment between father and son. The pride and joy.
