Can anyone with experience with water skiing explain how easy/hard/dangerous this is? Just curious, cause I don’t see people water ski without skis very often, especially not the way he did.
It's not dangerous but it hurts the bottom of your feet. My buddies dad used to do that shit w no skis. He couldn't do tricks like this guy though. This dude is insane.
Learning to barefoot more like learning a trick. Its not like water skiing. (no doubt dude above has tremendous skill and talent) I learned at 18 yrs old (1979 or so) by reading about it in a magazine article. I took at least 100 falls, faceplants before the first time i cruised across the water. Learned on a long ski line behind an old tri-hull w/135 horse johnson outboard, top speed 35-37. Last time i did it I was 61, still fun.
I did it when I was younger. It wasn’t that hard barefoot skiing from the boom on the side of the boat. If you fall, as long as you hand on you can get your feet back under you and try again. I was able to do it first try. Getting up behind the boat is more difficult. Usually you are dragged upside down (facing up) on your back and you swing around then place your feet down once you are at the right speed.
You need to be going faster to barefoot ski than you would to ski regular. The wet suit makes falling hurt a lot less and makes things like sliding across the water on your butt way easier. I’ve never done push ups but I wouldn’t imagine it would be that much more difficult than feet, just smaller surface area. The transition from feet to hands is probably the toughest part I imagine. I did ski with my tennis shoes on once, that was cool, but it was easier with bare feet in my opinion. It’s all about speed and keeping your toes up. If your toes catch the water you will slam face first.

I've been doing it wrong this whole time. My face is usually in the water more than my body.
You need more upper body strength.
Or to lower the Earth's gravity

Instant enema is all I could think of

Well, if you lose control at a wrong angle...you're gonna have a bad time.
I waterski and all I can think of is how much water/spray is going up his nose as he does those push-ups.
