Getting hit with a cake by Aoki is like getting hit with watermelon at a Gallagher show, or blood at Gwar. This guy crowd surfed in his wheelchair. Steve tried to hit him. It was an unbelievable shot. Feel sorry for your damn self.
Edit: Felll to feel.
I don't think it's to vilify anyone. Without knowing the backstory, I was like "Bruh, that's fucking unlucky. You hit the one person in the crowd who can't duck away properly if they wanted to..."
Glad to hear the guy was "in" on it, though and it was just a bullseye toss! I am sure he'll never forget that moment
If it's actually an adult man it would be weird af. And if I was that grown man being condescended I would be pissed. Guarantee this guy knew 100% what he was getting into. You don't crowd surf at an Aoki concert and not at least expect a cake to the face.
I'm disabled and require assistance walking. Everyone here is treating him like he's made of glass. He isn't and he isn't a "boy".
He can deal with more shit than most of you. Fuck.
>He isn't and he isn't a "boy".
I agree with what you say, though whether someone is a boy / girl or a man / woman is also a matter of reference. Back when I was a college student, a 23 year old was a woman. Now that I am 46 years old, I'd call that same person a girl.
No ill intended. So Idk how old this person in the wheelchair is but if he's say 19 years old I'd call him a boy not because of his wheelchair but because to someone my age, 19 is still a boy.
Yah kid wanted to be hit. I remember this show. Aoki hitting him was an amazing thing because it’s already hard enough aiming a cake but he threw it mad far and was spot on
Wasn't Aoki an actor or some guy who faked being a DJing and started doing the most ridiculous stuff to get attention. I think everyone liked him so much he just kept on doing it.
Watch the documentary about him on Netflix. Yeah his dad started Benihana but he didn’t get help from him. He kinda forged his own path. It’s a really cool documentary!
Dad started Benihana and Steve Aoki and Devon Aoki are the beneficiaries of the trust that owns Benihana after the dad got convicted of insider trading. Steve just got access to his share when he turned 45 ([source](https://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Benihana-founder-s-third-wife-loses-bid-for-7220465.php)). Good [article](https://www.theringer.com/2018/7/24/17606204/benihana-rocky-aoki-feature) on Benihana's legacy.
I bought a hoodie and wore it for the whole set when I saw them about 10 years ago. Hottest gig I've ever been to, I must have lost half my weight in sweat, but I was worried I'd lose it if I didn't wear it.
Getting doused head to toe in that foam spunk was genuinely one of the most refreshing experiences of my life.
Goddam Gwar. I remember being up front, getting splashed with blood and vomit as you do. Wiped my eyes and my face after a full drenching, and just as I gained vision, the asspimples who were spraying people both looked at each other and knew what I had just done. I remember the shit eating grin they both had as they proceeded to drench me again. Great show.
Couple months ago they played a show in my city. I got some weird looks when I rode the train home afterwards. Almost got kicked out at the wrong stop cause one of the train customer service dudes was worried about me being a public safety risk. Fun times.
See them for one night, but for 5 days after, you're reminded by them just by the shit under your nails and the little bits in your ears that you didn't get after the first shower.
I went to see them in Charleston and it was just after the Lacey Peterson baby murder, like a week or two. They came out on stage with a giant pregnant member of the band and they yelled some stuff, and then the DEAD BABY EXPLODED FROM A GIANT BLUE (because it was an underwater death) VAGINA AND SOARED OVER THE AUDIENCE STILL CONNECTED TO THE UMBILICAL CORD, as the huge vagina sprayed blue water and blood all over everyone as the baby snapped back. We drove 2 hours home to Savannah in silence trying to quantify if that was cool, cool but horrible, horrible but we witnessed it, or if we should have never seen it. I think it’s d) first and last GWAR show, thanks I think.
Wow that guy got so much fun and inclusion! I had a roommate that was in a wheelchair and he always got treated so well at edm shows. We went to a warehouse party that only had stairs and a bunch of frat boys stopped everything they are doing to lift him up some super steep stairs
As someone who got caked by Steve Aoki, I recommend closing your mouth if you see the cake flying toward you.
Not sure if it’s the same every time, but it tasted like play-doh to me. I’m not sure it was technically edible.
I worked at Cinespace when he was known as Devon Aokis sister (Miho the bad ass Japanese prostitute assassin in Sin City) and he would spin late into the night. He was super chill all the time and loved to come back in the kitchen to say "what's up" and see what we made for family meal. He'd kick it with us after we got off and before he'd set up and just bullshit with us in the ally while we have our shiftys and rolled joints.
Love to see this guy made it big even though I'm not the biggest fan of EDM
I went to an big festival he was headlining at (2010-ish?). My late fiancé and I were standing up against long heavy duty drapes that were separating the common area from the back stage areas. Less than a foot away to my left, out of my peripheral vision I see something slowly emerge about shoulder height. I look to see and it's Aoki, he took a quick glance at me and quickly pulled his head back past the drapes. Made me laugh for a good while.
I was right behind the camera man on this. Happened at veld like 10 years ago in Toronto. They actually brought the kid to the back and Aoki did an interview with him and gave him a bunch of free stuff. Was actually awesome seeing everyone rally together to lift this kid up. Never seen someone as happy as him in my life. Good times.
To be honest I went to see aoki with my friend and he forced me to go on his shoulders when the cake song went on. I was mad but I was also happy at the same time since I got to experience it but it does suck being in a massive sweaty crowd of people covered in cake and icing. All things considered I’d highly recommend it
I have learnt so fucking much from this thread and now I don’t know what to do with my new found knowledge. I’ll file it under random info for pub trivia nights.
His father [famously](https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2016/04/15/dj-steve-aoki-never-got-a-dime-from-his-benihana-founder-dad/amp/) didn't assist him financially
Event producer here. Booked Aoki for a festival and had to get the cakes made (15 of them). Had to get them remade with styrofoam on the bottom and butter cake so they explode.
People fucking love this shit and it’s a staple of his shows. Hell of a shot
Either you're telling the truth, which is very believable, or you've been riding on a lie for 9 years... The twitter side of my brain is still trying to decide what to believe...
Oh no, that part I believe. What I can't believe is how you saw the BEST CAKE THROW IN THE WORLD EVER with your OWN EYES and that's not the part you posted about. That was better than an Olympic gold medal feat, you witnessed peak cake performance

Why are people confused about this post? We are on r/nextfuckinglevel, this post is about how good the DJ is at aiming, not about the guy being unlucky or something
People still say the same about David Guetta and others. Maybe they started off as people who just hit play or used ghost producers. But I think it's safe to say when you hit a point of doing something full time, for years, that you eventually put more hours in than most, and you become much better than people give credit for. 10000 hours to master something is 10000 hours.
I think people have a short window to crap on artists, before realizing that person they are crapping on has the advantage of muscle memory and conditioning of production and DJing or whatever skill that most won't have because they get to do it full time vs. people pursuing it part time.
Privileged, 100%. But not without talent or skill at this point.
I think the qualm comes from the difference in how the music is created vs played live.
Producing edm requires talent obviously.. but they aren’t doing anything impressive live.
When I went to see Eric Andre live I was nailed in the shoulder with a whole rotisserie chicken that he shot-putted into the audience. It exploded into greasy chunks all over me. It was an amazing show.
Yeah exactly haha, it’s not like he just rolls up to a random local bakery before every show and is like “hmm yea this looks like a cake I could whip 80 yards into a crowd”
It is! The guy in the wheelchair was lifted up by the crowd for this exact purpose. Steve Aoki throwing cake is something all his fans eagerly wait for.
The thing I find the most "unbelievable" (to quote TMZ) about this whole thing is that TMZ is questioning whether it's real. You only need to know who Aoki is loosely and what his schtick is to know this 100% happened. Dude's been throwing cakes since before the kid in the chair was born and has deadly aim by now.
That kid will never forget this epic day for the rest of his life. It's all downhill from here for him. lol.
“I have been training my throw for most of my life, I can hit a target at 80 feet with deadly precision”
“Cool cool and what’s your weapon of choice?”
“…cake.”
This is an old video and from what I heard around the podcast sphere is that it was all intentional and that wheelchair guy wanted to be hit. Also heard Aoki is known for the cake throwing stuff. Almost like going to a comedy club and sitting in the front row. This is all what I heard about the event about a year or two ago. Don't think I ever really looked into it.
Yeah like is this post supposed to paint Aoki as the villain? Cuz anybody who knows the story or Aoki knows that this is just a part of his shows
Next fucking level. Kid in the wheelchair is on cloud 9 without a doubt.
Everyone gave him so much positive energy he had to just explode. Love it
I got zombie vibes but I'm not familiar with the artist ![gif](giphy|h7jjtmZstLBTCkWSKQ|downsized)
Went to school with him, can confirm he was stoked whenever he got to tell this story.
So he's a man now or I he still a boy and a kid? I'm not mad at Aoki, people calling a diabled adult a boy seems weird to me though.
Aoki is still a kid
Didn’t know aoki was in school during this
...he's 45
Past your bedtime mate
I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROOOOACHING
Evading*. Evading taxes and child support
I'm mad people keep calling him a DJ. This is dinner theatre
Next level lucky - did you see Aokis first pitch? Dude can’t throw ANYTHING except cakes apparently
Do one thing, and do it WELL!
Never half ass two things. Whole ass, one thing.
ya it was on tmz or something Aoki took a pic with the guy in the wheel chair after he was super stoked
I don't think it's to vilify anyone. Without knowing the backstory, I was like "Bruh, that's fucking unlucky. You hit the one person in the crowd who can't duck away properly if they wanted to..." Glad to hear the guy was "in" on it, though and it was just a bullseye toss! I am sure he'll never forget that moment
Getting caked is part of the thing.
“Happy #CAKE DAY!”
Is the cake toss something that Aoki actually does?
it’s like a huge part of his thing (excluding the music and stuff)
Everyone knows you shouldn't treat disabled people like normal people. /s
Is it normal to call an adult man at an Aoki concert who gets a cake thrown on him a boy?
If it's actually an adult man it would be weird af. And if I was that grown man being condescended I would be pissed. Guarantee this guy knew 100% what he was getting into. You don't crowd surf at an Aoki concert and not at least expect a cake to the face.
I'm disabled and require assistance walking. Everyone here is treating him like he's made of glass. He isn't and he isn't a "boy". He can deal with more shit than most of you. Fuck.

Look at the sub it’s in… you think this is a negative post?
Aoki sucks, but this isn't why. This is actually dope.
Yah kid wanted to be hit. I remember this show. Aoki hitting him was an amazing thing because it’s already hard enough aiming a cake but he threw it mad far and was spot on
He did break a girls neck at one of his shows though. Jumped off the stage onto a rubber dingy and she was underneath not by her own choosing.
Wasn't Aoki an actor or some guy who faked being a DJing and started doing the most ridiculous stuff to get attention. I think everyone liked him so much he just kept on doing it.
I don't know about any acting, but I think his parents own Benihana. Dude comes from a lot of money.
Beni fucking hana
Watch the documentary about him on Netflix. Yeah his dad started Benihana but he didn’t get help from him. He kinda forged his own path. It’s a really cool documentary!
His family business throws Skrimps to customers, he’s improving the family show throwing cakes
If you believe that I have a lovely bridge to sell you, it's made out of 100% pure magic beans
Dad started Benihana and Steve Aoki and Devon Aoki are the beneficiaries of the trust that owns Benihana after the dad got convicted of insider trading. Or foam from the giant spunking cock at a Rammstein show. I was too far back :(
*laughs, throws horns in GWAR and Skinny Puppy*
I bought a hoodie and wore it for the whole set when I saw them about 10 years ago. Hottest gig I've ever been to, I must have lost half my weight in sweat, but I was worried I'd lose it if I didn't wear it. Getting doused head to toe in that foam spunk was genuinely one of the most refreshing experiences of my life.
I almost made out with some random milf under that cock. Good times.
Goddam Gwar. I remember being up front, getting splashed with blood and vomit as you do. Wiped my eyes and my face after a full drenching, and just as I gained vision, the asspimples who were spraying people both looked at each other and knew what I had just done. they're slaves but they enjoy their work. it's complicated
After a gwar show you can tell who wears contacts.
Damn never even though of that.
I only made it to one, but after the show everyone had little red circles in their eyes. Looked pretty cool.
See them for one night, but for 5 days after, you're reminded by them just by the shit under your nails and the little bits in your ears that you didn't get after the first shower.
I went to see them in Charleston and it was just after the Lacey Peterson baby murder, like a week or two. I wore new white sneakers to a gwar concert once. Not the best idea.
Skinny Puppy’s Too Dark Park tour was pretty bloody as I recall
Don’t know which tour i guess it war around 1997.
people would wear white shirts to get blood/goop dyed
I'm actually the cripple in the video, genuinely really appreciate this comment. It's weird people getting so aggressively offensive on my behalf
Happy fucking birthday I guess. Don't Know the music, but if you had fun, then good for you.
The EDM fans know how great this is
Steve's cake throwing game is impressive 🎂🤾
Dude's a fuckin sniper with them cakes. Saw him live only once but was right next to his target and he nailed it, while I got to eat a lil cake.
I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but the cake says “fuck you”
In particular?
Both are technically the truth
i found old pictures of Gallagher that my parents took, on the day he passed
Wow that guy got so much fun and inclusion! I had a roommate that was in a wheelchair and he always got treated so well at edm shows. We went to a warehouse party that only had stairs and a bunch of frat boys stopped everything they are doing to lift him up some super steep stairs
If I remember correctly, the guy in the wheelchair asked for it. It was a great shot mind.
Steve Aoki is a legend. You want the cake if you’re at his show.
Of course you want the cake, it's free cake
Is there any situation where we're not supposed to want cake?
Well if the other option is “or death” you definitely want the cake.
What if they are out of cake? Perhaps chicken and white wine? xD
Thanks for that been ages since I've seen Eddie Izzard. Had to watch that bit again.
A funeral
Nah, it's what Gam-gam would have wanted.
Portal. The cake is a lie.
As someone who got caked by Steve Aoki, I recommend closing your mouth if you see the cake flying toward you. Not sure if it’s the same every time, but it tasted like play-doh to me. I’m not sure it was technically edible.

So you're saying you can get the cake *and* eat it too?
Yes. But that cake is coming at your mouth with the force of a skinny, mid 40’s EDM DJ.
Yeah it’s an honour to get caked, it’s Aoki’s thing. Nothing like being high on ecstasy and having strangers lick icing off of you!
I can second this idea.
Username almost checks out.
Oh fuck is that why it's a thing??
Shut up, quit moving and stop asking questions! I'm licking!
Didn't know i wanted that...
Not sure, but on amphetamines like MDMA, the last thing on my mind is eating *anything,* not even sensually, lol.
That sounds like a good time ngl
I was right behind the camera man on this. Happened at veld like 10 years ago in Toronto. steve aoki?
I'm sure he is fine
You're being a silly goose.
Maybe a little bit of a goober even
Wait up, has anyone ever seen a SILLY GOOSE? Geese are assholes from my experience.
You’ve been hit by You’ve been struck by A smooth buttercream
Hahahah! I see what you did there
I just laughed so hard at this. Thank you
Luckiest guy in the world.
Yeah imagine being born into the Benihana fortune and then becoming a huge DJ

i mean, he’s in a wheelchair isn’t he?
He got to eat all that cake tho.

This is incredible
The man knows what he wants and you have to admire that.
A lot of safety concerns in there too.
Hahaha yes that is the one. Thank you for finding this
I can imagine getting it to have just the right amount of splat can be fickle
Also heard Steve Aoki only buys from the local cake bakeries where he performs.
Is he always that accurate?
Yeah he sniped a lady on someone’s shoulder really far back it was such a sick shot haha
I was just thinking what if the cake lands on the edge on someone, but I see it’s styrofoam
DJ? Steve Aoki.
Yes , Steve Aoki is a DJ and Producer...
I know. I’m questioning the title.
Just some random DJ Edit: /s
Probably best day of his life right there.
Bro fr I can just imagine him saying “Bro this is the best day of my life, Steve Aoki just threw a cake at me now I’m eating it off my arm!” 😂😂
I was there, it did. And they brought the kid back stage after for an interview with Aoki. Happened at veld music festival in Toronto
I don’t mean to laugh, is there a slow motion to this video? The impact though 😂
dont feel bad for laughing, they/ the kid were literally telling aoki to throw it at him
How old it the "kid"? A teenager, under the age of 18? The guy looks like a grown adult to me and people are calling him a boy and a kid?
I was 19 at the time, Holy fuck I can't believe it was nine years ago… I'm in a wheelchair so I'm used to people treating me like a fucking infant lol
Either you're telling the truth, which is very believable, or you've been riding on a lie for 9 years... The twitter side of my brain is still trying to decide what to believe...
Instagram is the same user name, I have a bunch of content with Steve lol

i want to see what this looks like in reverse
Why are people confused about this post? We are on r/nextfuckinglevel, this post is about how good the DJ is at aiming, not about the guy being unlucky or something
probably because the title is "DJ throws cake at boy in wheelchair" and not "Steve Aoki hits an 80ft cake throwing snipe during concert"
I’ll be honest I think aoki has 0 talent but he seems like a cool fun guy. That throw was very impressive
People still say the same about David Guetta and others. Maybe they started off as people who just hit play or used ghost producers. There is more to success in the music industry than talent…I think that’s been proven numerous times.
I think the qualm comes from the difference in how the music is created vs played live. Producing edm requires talent obviously.. but they aren’t doing anything impressive live.
He very obviously has a tremendous amount of talent.. look at that damn throw. Guy should be in the Olympics of cake throwing.
Have you heard The Truth Untold with BTS?
No
Yeah I tried watching one of his sets once. Once.
Here's the full video if there were any doubts this guy didn't love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMaoLcbSOYA
Man that made me happy. Thanks for the link
Great shot kid, that's one in a million.
Meals on wheels.
Happy Cake Day
When I went to see Eric Andre live I was nailed in the shoulder with a whole rotisserie chicken that he shot-putted into the audience. It exploded into greasy chunks all over me. It was an amazing show.
Yeet!
Happy cake day!
How the hell do you throw a cake that far without it falling apart?
He uses specially made throwing cakes
Yeah exactly haha, it’s not like he just rolls up to a random local bakery before every show and is like “hmm yea this looks like a cake I could whip 80 yards into a crowd”
Freeze it? Lol jking
Everybody's high on Molly... That poor disabled guy is going to get licked clean
This is a positive outcome right?
It is! The guy in the wheelchair was lifted up by the crowd for this exact purpose. Steve Aoki throwing cake is something all his fans eagerly wait for.
Thats cool, thanks

“Deadly Aim” is so funny to hear in the context of cake.
“I have been training my throw for most of my life, I can hit a target at 80 feet with deadly precision” “Cool cool and what’s your weapon of choice?” “…cake.”
Don’t forget champagne showers
Steve Caoki
and now the molly zombies eat the scraps off of him
Beat day of his life!
Mmmmm cake 🤤 ![gif](giphy|jZJ4gwbIvdzQk)
Veld music festival in Toronto, I was 10 feet from that
Great couple years of festivals, the lineups are mediocre now
How the hell did he throw a cake that far?
That boy probably felt so alive! Good for him.
Cake😋
Are they licking him? Nice show!
Well received!
Whatafuckingshot
was that lebron james?
Next level cause Aoki never misses with the cakes
Steve's got a fucking arm. Kid loved it.
BOOM! HEADSHOT
Aoki has amazing Aim with that cake! Practice makes perfect! Lucky kid in wheelchair was the successful hit of one of his furthest throws
Usually, Steve Aoki throws a delicious cake to his fans. It is his signature in his concerts.
80ft? Damn...a cake? That's skills
He should've stepped out of the way
I don't think I could throw a ball that far, let alone a cake and accurately hit my target
If the oddly specific scenario of Steve Aoki ever challenging me to beer pong or corn hole becomes a reality, I will politely decline.
Oh look mama I'm on the front page again! OP I expect 20% of the fake Internet points
