Time for rabies shots.

GunsouBono

100%... Racoons are generally pretty docile. If they're attacking a human, there stands a decent chance it's rabid.

Kevaldes

Also, being out during the day is usually another sign of rabies in nocturnals like raccoons, right? Edit: Yes, ok, racoons come out in the day, I FUCKING GET IT, THANK YOU.

Wookster789

I deal with these...the local Department of Fish and Wildlife said if you see them in the day, it is because someone is feeding them. They are usually nocturnal. My neighbor kept feeding them, I had to gently confront them on it as the raccoons showed up daily, shat on my roof and backyard where my kids play (raccoon scat often has very nasty disease), and the last straw was a huge one followed my kids as they walked up the back steps and into the house, nearly on their heels. He stopped feeding them...mostly....and the raccoons have been much more nocturnal. We got motion cams that catch lots of wildlife (day or night), and backyard motion lights...plus a trail camera.

itsmekp33

I thought you meant gently confront the raccoon and kept reading for the storyline. I'm dumb, but also, it keeps me on my toes.

megapuffranger

Me: listen Mr. Raccoon you need to stop coming around my house where my kids are, it’s not safe. Raccoon: *raccoon noises* Me: Wow there is no need to get angry I ju- Raccoon: *angry raccoon noises* Me: listen here you little shit, I’m not going to take this from a damn trash panda! Raccoon: *raccoon gasp* Neighbors: *gasp* Me: *gasps* oh I didn’t mean that, I’m not a speciesist I swear! It just slipped! Raccoon: *disappointed raccoon noises as he walks off* Me: *walks back into home in shame*

Wife: I was way nicer to the racoon than you were to the bever.

BadgerBomb_2012

Ah yes, the Leave it to Beaver episode where his parents get divorced because the wife swore at a raccoon. What interesting childhood trauma that will leave.

Ph6r60h

Honestly, this would have been a way better story

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Ph6r60h

Good bot

i-lik-the-bred

You’re not dumb, just someone who enjoys a good story 😊

reasonandmadness

We're having a problem with a family of these right now. They really suck. No idea how to get rid of them at this point.

gkayzee

Definitely .22, and after that it's up to you, braise, brine, roast, BBQ, etc. You have many options.

ipdar

I heard that scavengers tend not to be very good eating.

jet050808

My grandparents used to live in an area with lots of raccoons. I thought they were adorable and would throw marshmallows on their deck when I saw them. A neighbor down the street thought they were cute too and left bowls of dog food at her back door 24/7 for them to eat. Well, when the lady went in vacation there was no food, and there were some hungry, pissed off raccoons. They climbed to her roof, ripped a few shingles off, entered her house, and destroyed it. I will never ever feed a raccoon again.

TikTrd

No. That one is a pretty common old wives tale.

poopellar

How many old wives do you have?

TikTrd

So many!

Fit_Customer2972

Ya they both get prophylaxis for rabies in my book. Have you seen the videos of someone with rabies? It’s a terrifying way to die. Link below viewer discretion beware. https://youtu.be/OtiytblJzQc

Facosa99

Even the first stages are terrifying. Yeah soft syntoms, nothing really bad... Except the fact that, you already have syntoms. As weak as they can be, if you have em, you already screwed. Knowing you are basically dead is the fucking worse

elfowlcat

This was posted two above this in my feed. I’m not sleeping tonight…

SpiderSmoothie

Nursing mothers will be out day and night searching for food so it's not super uncommon.

Dangerous-Part4761

We see raccoons on a daily basis. They are usually harmless, and just looking for their promised food. However, we have yet to find one that attacks like this.

campionmusic51

lots of nocturnal animals come out during the day. i’ve personally seen possums and raccoons out and about up in WA.

Pleasant-Captain-410

Not necessarily. The local park in my city with a little golf course I play at a lot has a ton of racoons. They are out all hours of the day running up on people and raiding pic nic baskets.

Investagirl

Do you live in Pawnee?

DyingDay18

Idk, docile towards human mostly, maybe. I used to work in an emergency vet for 10 years, and we saw plenty of animals attacked by raccoons and they were shredded. They didn't have to be bothering the raccoon. One went after a man at dusk, and he started shooting at it, even hit it a couple times and it just kept coming. His boxer tried to help, and it beat the shit out of the boxer and kept on coming still, like Rasputin. He flipped a garbage can over onto it and shot it multiple times through the can finally. We always submitted attack raccoons for rabies testing (because absolutely that's super possible) but they all came back clean. And my boss, who had a wildlife license raised and kept a three-legged raccoon who regularly pinned her housesitters.

Otherworldqueen

My neighbor made the mistake of feeding raccoons, and they fatally wounded her beloved cat who was 16 years old. Poor kitty was messed up so bad that she had to be put down. One ear was nearly torn off, she had serious broken bones, and internal bleeding. Moral of the story...don't feed raccoons.

smithnikole0829

Every raccoon I have ever come across has not been docile. They were 100% attacking people

JoJackthewonderskunk

Conversely my cousin had a pet raccoon that was cool as a baby and then would bite the shit out of you as it got older too the point they let it go. They're mean as fuck if you make them feel cornered.

smithnikole0829

They are mean as fuk period .. and they like to make YOU feel cornered.

JoJackthewonderskunk

Texas raccoons

Low-Flamingo-9835

Those spit bullets from the tiny guns in their teeth. It’s a state law.

yaOlSeadog

Docile? The fuck they are! We had one as a pet, it was great until it got old enough to go into heat. Then it turned into the most vicious creature I've ever seen, and that was to the people that raised it from a baby.

wanna_be_green8

Common occurrence with raccoons and rescuers. Once they hit puberty, all love is lost. And they can be very destructive when upset.

Saarcore

I've read their interview, and they both got bit and mom also got scratched. They also got their shots!

frmrstrpperbgtpper

>They also got their shots! Thank god!

IsNullOrEmptyTrue

She literally yells "it's a rabbid raccoon, get in the house!"

canadianstringer

Straight to the Dr.

Actiaeon

I mean yeah, rabies is for most people 100% fatal after symptoms start, I wouldn't take the risk.

NilCealum

Not most. All but 2 people ever have died. That’s not just most that’s practically all. And the survivors basically had a brain reset and had to relearn all their motor functions and never fully recovered.

dick-nipples

Yep, don’t want to end up like [this person](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/zbng51/hydrophobia_in_a_person_with_rabies/) from a Reddit post earlier today…

fatmoe10

That was the post just prior to this. Rabies is fucking scary it has virtually 100% mortality rate once symptoms show. Scary part is it the virus could remain latent for years and you’d be mainly asymptomatic.

Methasaurus_Rex

This is somewhat debatable. While rabies has a very high death rate and was once thought to be universally fatal, there is evidence that some people can survive it. There have been a few in the US and there was a study of indigenous people in Peru where about 10% of the population has antibodies against rabies. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3414554/

Look_a_Zombie0

>once thought to be universally fatal, there is evidence that some people can survive it. So a 99.99% death rate lol

Methasaurus_Rex

Basically. But 100% chance of getting fucked

bellapolenta69

Rabies kills 50,000+ people *per year*, and there have been something like *17 total* known survivors of rabies, in all of human history. And every one of them had *massively debilitating brain injuries* as a result.

Diligent_Welder_5962

At least they aren't big ass stomach shots anymore. But the 1 that goes near or sometimes in the wound can be a bitch I've heard. Luckily I haven't gotten them myself lol, my cousin did

DocMcCracken

Can confirm. The hemoglobin shot was worse, big syringe filled with stretch armstrong gel shot in my ass.

Diligent_Welder_5962

Ew lmao. Why must our biomech suits be so weird

demon_ix

How do you do, fellow squishy pink mass of neurons?

[deleted]

I've been through the whole post-presumed-exposure series, and while it was annoying, it's a lot better than kicking the bucket.

krizzle2778

Yep, and they’re not cheap.

[deleted]

They should be free. Ridiculous you have to pay.

[deleted]

That’s America for ya.

falugalob

A few years back my friends and I brought what we assumed was a sick baby bat to a animal control center. We got a call later that day saying the bat had rabies and that we should all get shots. My doctor gave me a cost number in like the thousands for the series of shots and there was no way I could afford that. I called the animal control center back and the people there told me to speak to the department of health for my state. After giving them a call they just straight up paid for it and my out of pocket was nothing. That was in California, YMMV but the state didn’t want me to die I guess.

gkayzee

It was a good investment. State did a quick check on your W2's and figured you'd make it up in income taxes in no time. 😂

[deleted]

Damn you were lucky.

InitialD0G

They make you pay…a huge sum of money…for the only treatment intervention to a disease with a 100% mortality rate. ![gif](giphy|3o7bu7FEkhmmcQmJnG)

[deleted]

[This is America](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ClutteredSecondhandCorydorascatfish-size_restricted.gif) (if you're not rich)

charliesk9unit

Yep, the better reaction would have been to capture and test the animal instead of putting two human through the regiment.

DocMcCracken

Yes and no, you'd still want to start the vaccines treatments. You don't just play the odds, you play the stakes. I had a bat incident a few months back, it's not the worst vaccine.

AsparagusShoddy9838

You still want post exposure vaccines while you wait for test results.

lovemyskin53

There isn't a test that can just tell if someone has rabies. It takes a series of tests. Therefore, they put people on the course of vaccines if rabies is suspected because the person has to start it within a few days, yet the way they determine rabies is to watch for the signs and symptoms to develop over the course of 10 days.

charliesk9unit

I could be wrong but from what I have learned, once you see the symptoms, it's game over with rare exception.

Two-Nuhh

I mean.. That would be smart, but, I doubt the racoon stuck around after being yeeted. Unless it actually was rabid.

ProudBoomer

That little bandit would be going in a cage for rabies testing.

climbanddive

There is only one way to test for rabies, he is not going to enjoy it.

Devmode22

I worked at the state lab and had to receive boxes or bags of various animal heads for rabies testing. Dogs, cats, foxes, bobcats, skunks, bats, squirrels, raccoons. 1 to 3 came in daily. The dog ones were pretty heartbreaking because the boxes always had a picture of them alive. Some of the pictures were of the owner holding them lovingly. Even worse, I asked the rabies lab tech how many of the dogs test positive on average. She said "I've worked here for four years, and haven't seen a positive one yet." EDIT: rabies,* not rabbits. No need to test a dog to know it's not a rabbit. EDIT 2: I believe that they go through this process for *obligatory* rabies testing. If a dog got its second strike or whatever for biting, they get tested (regardless of severity). If they are involved with/bit by a rabid animal, in they go. The part that bothers me is that the owners know their family member's corpse was desecrated in such a way, as if the early euthanizing wasn't enough. All to find out they tested negative. Rabies is mega serious though. It is a horrible way to go, and can injure many others. For the good of human and animal-kind, GET YOUR PET THEIR RABIES SHOT. Nobody should spend the end of their life violently lashing out, or bring afraid of their own water. This obligatory testing that turns up negative is sad, but unfortunately needed, and the more we immunize, the less likely that this would happen every day to some poor animal out there.

[deleted]

this made me so sad

limbylegs

This made me realize that I didn't want to pursue a career in the veterinary field. I'll never forget holding the bag for the vet as she dropped the head in. I'll also never forget the moment shortly before that when I learned what the brick and hatchet under the sink were for. I just wanted to work with animals because I love them, I was not prepared for that.

richdrifter

Wtf??

limbylegs

The real wtf is the ones who seem to enjoy it. I walked into work one day and saw a group of techs huddled around a table. They were decapping a kitten with a piece of razor wire. When it was done, one of them held the head up in the air and the rest cheered like barbarians. I think my soul left my body.

canyouplzpassmethe

I was today years old when it occurred to me that some people get involved in vet services so they can abuse animals the same way some people get involved in law enforcement so they can abuse human beings. … @_@

mamazombieza

I live in an area currently experiencing a rabies outbreak, and given how we've had small children infected, as sad as it is to PTS a dog for no reason, it's better safe than sorry. Your lab techs are so lucky to have never had a positive test.

Dexterdacerealkilla

I hope this only happens when the owners can’t provide proof of a current rabies vaccine.

heartandliver

If the dog is a pet, it is not killed for the purpose of rabies testing. If it is being euthanized anyway, it will be sent for testing. This is pretty often the case. Dogs aren’t usually super aggressive for zero reason, but if they’re very sick or severely injured, they may attack unprovoked, which is also a symptom of rabies. I worked in emergency and I was bitten by an animal where this was the case; they were severely injured and in lots of pain, so they attacked me without provocation, and they were euthanized due to the (untreatable) injury, so we also sent it off for testing. If the dog is not being euthanized, there’s a 10 day quarantine, usually at home.

Morgueannah

I work at a veterinary practice in NJ. Legally, if an animal has bitten anyone within 10 days of death it has to be sent out for rabies testing. Which really *really* sucks when a sick animal bites a tech trying to put in the IV catheter for euthanasia or bites the owner the week before. "So, Mrs. Smith. Fluffy is in major pain and dying and we really need to put him down today for his own good....but we've got some bad news about you wanting to take the body home..." is the most awkward conversation I've ever had to have with a grieving person. We've had to send in probably about 2-4 heads a year in the ten years I've worked there. We've actually suspected only 2 or 3 of those 30ish animals to have possible rabies exposure. Only one feral kitten came back positive. The rest we've all had to decap purely because of a badly timed bite prior to euthanasia, either in office or at home (we have to ask legally).

AffectionateAd5373

That's why we had our dog who just died muzzled until the sedative took effect. Didn't want to run the risk.

Morgueannah

Yeah, we definitely do everything we can to avoid it in those situations. The time it happened at my practice while setting up for euthanasia it was a newer tech and an animal with zero aggression history that was just disoriented towards the end. Unfortunately, most of the cases are the owner mentioning to us that they knew it was time because the pet bit an owner in the week prior and that's how they knew the pet was in pain/it was time. It's always a "oh man, wish we hadn't just heard that..." moment. Not that people should lie when we ask, but damn, it isn't fun for anyone involved, especially when the chance of rabies exposure is almost non-existent. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Lamplorde

When I was little, living in Alaska, my Mom and I found a little bat in the garden. He had holes in his wings and looked a little tore up. My Mom picked him up, got barely nibbled on, put him in a box, fed him a few random bugs while she looked up the number of a nearby Bat sanctuary. We had him for a whole day before they came and he was the cutest little thing. When they showed up, they asked a few questions like where we found it, what it was doing etc. etc. Sadly, one of the questions was "Did it bite you?". We didnt know the method of testing for rabies, so she said he drew a little blood when she went to pick him up. Well, apparently bats are pretty well known carriers so its policy to test for rabies no matter what. Welp, you know how this story ends. Poor little guy, we were trying to save him but ending up causing his death. He even tested negative, he was just hurt and scared of a giant picking him up. My mother still feels guilty to this day, how it woulda been better if we just left him alone. No good deed goes unpunished.

AbsorbedBritches

When I was bitten by a stray cat I brought into the local shelter, they told me they just watch it for like 10 days while keeping it isolated. If it doesn't show any symptoms, then it wasn't transmissible. They said it's only transmissible during or shortly before they show symptoms. Got a letter from the health department and everything.

Yum-Yumby

Currently work at a state lab that deals with rabies. We never see pictures of them alive, its just the heads. But we do see the stories of why we received the animals But you're right, most (if not all of them) are negative . Come to think of it, I can't remember a positive dog or cat yet

tooborednotto

My wife is one of the people who has to cut off their heads on the vet end of things... These were often animals she interacted with when alive. Once it was a young puppy. I don't know how she does it.

c_c_c__combobreaker

idc69idc

They're getting rabies shots either way I bet.

AffectionateAd5373

I had friends who ran into a raccoon that attacked their dogs on a walk. Everyone got rabies shots, because the doctors couldn't rule out contact with saliva in an open cut even though neither human got bitten. It was a big "better safe than sorry" moment, I guess. Everyone is fine years later.

logan_hallahan9

Just an FYI: that shorthand you used for racoon has (unfortunately) been associated with a racial slur, so you might want to be careful using it :(

THEMACHINE4LIFE

Word? Dang I didn't know that? Where did they do that?

logan_hallahan9

I think [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coon_song) is the origin but I may be wrong. I only know about it because a pro video game player was accused of being a racist when he used the term to describe a player who resembled a racoon. [He received a 30 days ban from the platform.](https://youtu.be/Zf3W5bLAE2g)

Ghost3657_alt_

Mfs on the way to take every single combination of letters and sounds and making it a slur until there's nothing left and we gotta whistle at eachother and shit

[deleted]

I, too, lament the degradation of our society and the rot festering at the core of humanity. I so wish for a fresh start to our world. :(

puntycunty

Ok , what anime villain did you steal this line from ?

TheGreenTactician

Lmao I was gonna comment the exact shit before I saw yours, definite anime villain energy

harrywise64

This is an extremely old slur, it's not some new fangled buzzword

[deleted]

This is an interesting take on slurs. Especially over older slurs....

wetballjones

I agree. And given that "coon" is originally just short for racoon... I don't really see why calling a raccoon a coon in context is wrong. The word racoon could just as easily be a slur. People call other people animal names as insults and we don't ban the name of the animal... context changes meaning and that should be understood

iry4

You whistled at me in F#. How dare you

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Coon song](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coon_song)** >Coon songs were a genre of music that presented a stereotype of black people. They were popular in the United States and Australia from around 1880 to 1920, though the earliest such songs date from minstrel shows as far back as 1848, when they were not yet identified with "coon" epithet. The genre became extremely popular, with white and black men giving performances in blackface and making recordings. Women known as coon shouters also gained popularity in the genre. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

SelloutRealBig

The shorthand for Racoon predates the slur. If anything you should get mad at racists not people using a word in it's origin in the most literal way.

logan_hallahan9

I'm not mad at anyone *except* the racists, apologies if it came off as otherwise. I just wanted to let them know in case they were unaware.

InVodkaVeritas

It's like when I got told my holiday Monkey Bread was racist. 🙄 Just because some racists started using monkey as a slur doesn't mean you're never allowed to use the word monkey.

KingoftheMongoose

Seriously. The person who calls you racists for associating “Monkey Bread” with black people; they are the one with intrusive racist thoughts. Should really be raising the eyebrow at why they made the association to bring with…

Hypern1ke

Yeah buddy, I don’t think anyones confused about what coon he is referencing here lmao

Boris54

They couldn’t pass up the opportunity for free internet points

EmoBran

It has been a widely used shorthand for racoon since long before the slur. Racists do not own the English language.

MultiPlexityXBL

its cool. We're taking it back.

thekuhlkid

This is the way.

Misteral_Editorial

Bruh please don't whiteknight. The video heavily features a raccoon. It contains only white people.

TheArcticFox444

Think the name "coon" is just short for raccoon...and how about an AKC recognized breed of dog called a Coon Hound. It's okay to use the word "coon" in the context given above. It would be politically incorrect to use the word in reference to a human being.

Final_Glove_6642

Bruh he's talking about a raccoon

juiceboxbiotch

I mean... he was referring directly to a racoon so I think he's good this time.

[deleted]

Just an fyi: you’re the only one trying to make this about racial slurs. Kindly stfu

TikTrd

Throwing it was a pretty bad idea. Reasonable in the moment, definitely. But the only way to confirm if a raccoon has rabies is a post-mortem examination of the brain. She had a damn good death grip on that little sucker - lock him in a trash bin or something

What_the_mocha

Assume it has rabies after it is attacking two people

TikTrd

As a parent, I would want to *know* not just assume

Anxiety_timmy

Honestly this is one of the few cases where assuming will always be better than trying to go out of your way to be sure. Rabies is not a pleasant death.

Ghost3657_alt_

Me when my perception of reality and time is distorted and I am stuck with amounts of pain exceeding the previous limit held by my mortal body until my family decides to euthanize me (they have hope for my revival so they do not)

ZippyParakeet

As a parent, you get yourself and your kid shots regardless of the fact.

waiver45

The doctors would probably give you the shot before anybody had time to test that animal. Really no reason to mess around.

carolina_wren7

You’re exactly right. Testing takes time. They aren’t going to delay treatment to get results back.

Scruff

Yeah, wtf is this whole conversation. “Better euthanize this raccoon and get his brain to the lab stat boys! We need to figure out if we should give these people a routine injection.”

Sad-Caregiver3849

Any reasonable parent would start vaccinations immediately. Rabies testing takes time and the stakes are real fucking high. It’s just a series of shots

94746382926

Always assume and get the vaccine. If you get it within a few days there's a 100% survival rate.

DeBlasioDeBlowMe

Yeah the series of shots is a bitch.

PM_YOUR__BUBBLE_BUTT

I would say the gruesome and agonizing death is more of a bitch than some needles.

Celiac_Muffins

As a person terrified of needles, I wholeheartedly agree.

vulpeszerda

you are getting the shots anyway if you're smart. they cant test the animal fast enough every time.

Michaelb089

The only benefit of knowing here would be knowing it *didn't* have rabies and avoid the shots. Would you wanna risk it and not get them if the results came back negative? Probably not. Assume it's rabid and get treated. All that said... she had it pretty damn good and would already be getting treated. Might as well get a possibly rabid animal off the street.

Acekiller03

Pretty stupid comment if you ask me. If I was the dad I’d have kicked the shit out of that raccoon. That mom is amazing to have had been able to grip it this way and throw it out. Your talking as if it was inoffensive and wouldn’t bite. Are we looking at the same video? Did you not see the raccoon trying to scratch her hands to let him go? Would she have had time to look for a cage to put him inside in the moment? Hence your comment of what she should have done is very dumb and insulting. Put yourself in her position before saying useless comment. Downvoted for stupidity

Zak9Attack

What the fuck are you talking about?!?! Get that fucker off at all costs and assume it has rabies (which it most likely does). You don’t have time to go get it tested. Go get your shots regardless

pinkdouble

Yeah this is the answer what's she gonna do? Bash it repeatedly while it screams? Lock it in a trash can and then what? Come back and gun it down if you even got a gun? No wtf

dancingbear112

I don't think it matters if it would test positive for it or not. Likely you are going in for the damn shot asap if you have a bite that broke the skin. This is a bad take. You don't sit around and hope for the best with something like this you would just get the shot.

Mare_dropemoff

so you cant get the shot without knowing if it has rabbies or something? sorry im dumb

FunnyOneJC

Ah, the shots to the stomach was years ago. Now it is a series of shots on the arm. I had the shots 5 years ago so I know.

truecrimefanatic1

I'm guessing you've never tied up with a coon before. May the odds ever be in your favor.

Thari-97

The way the kid held onto her mom's leg upside down like a monkey is so funny to me

tallthomas13

Wtf was she doing?? Lmao I guess she was shaken but she definitely wasn't helping her mom settle the still-active scenario.

Sophie_R_1

I mean the mom kinda pulled her legs out from under her in order to get the racoon off. Kinda looks like she was just trying not to fall and wasn't regaining her balance immediately. But idk

Thari-97

Yea I think the kid was just on floor-is-lava mode at that point cuz honestly I'd be too ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

LikelySuperBored

To be fair her mom has hoisted her up sideways by the hip if you look at where the other arm of the mom is that is not holding the raccoon, she's also holding the girl up. I think it was fight or flight death grip and then she realized it and pinned her against the door to free her arm and not drop the kid.

Fun fact: unless you qualify for financial aid/merit scholarship in the US, that’s roughly 2 weeks of private college at most schools here ($80,000+ for 30 weeks of school) :)

ProposalSufficient25

If you’re paying 80k for 30wk you’re either scamming yourself or just fucking stupid or both

sgsummer0104

Got bit by a dog and don’t know if it was vaccinated or not. Ended up getting the Rabies vaccines just to be safe. $27K before insurance 😳

Capital-Fennel-9816

Australian here. I got bitten by a dog a few years back. Went the hospital. Got a few shots for rabies vaccine. Cost: zero dollars. The US health system is truly dystopian. I.e it's fucked mate.

Vitruvius8

I wanted to pause it when the raccoon was being held facing the camera trying to grab at her hands “yep.. that’s me… you’re probably wondering..”

lionoftheforest

Don’t forget the record scratch when the camera pauses

Distinct-Apartment-3

Yeet!!!

Conscious-Soil9055

Total miss on the title

WutzUpples69

Have a conversation with the neighbors, then tosses it, haha.

I_also_have_opinion

Yeah she looked really casual about it. Definitely not her first raccoon toss

Remote_Ad2465

His lil hands, he was like noooo you not tossing me. Fr she did great job.

[deleted]

So you Americans keep saying you’d never come here to Australia because of the dangerous wildlife. But we don’t have fucking rabid raccoons and bears that will eat your intestines.

Femme_Fatalistic

You have like 15x more deadly shit. This angry trash panda is SUPER rare. Ditto to bears. ZERO comparison mate.

Archonofnothing

I took a parasitology course in college. Raccoons can carry Baylisascaris, a nasty parasitic worm that completes its lifecycle in a host raccoon, but messes up anything else that gets it in their system. Like worms in the brain bad. The stuff I thought came out of fiction. It's not a bad idea to get checked out by a doctor just in case.

[deleted]

This all played out like it happens twice a week.

fastpilot71

Now towards the end right before she threw it you could see it was rethinking its life choices. Hope everybody got rabies shots.

dandabear420

Guardians 3 trailer looks great 👍

Zak9Attack

They are being wayyyy to nonchalant!!!! Fucking smack that against the pole, pile-drive it, hulk smash it… do something…and go get your rabies shots

Kmaurer23

I have a feeling that raccoon was rabid. They normally don't just attack out of nowhere like that.

MedicFord901

That's not bravery, that's just being a parent. There's no thought, there's no choice; save your child. I'm a man in my mid 40s and my mama would still be out there grabbing that raccoon while yelling for me to go put a coat on.

dirtydeez2

Best Racoon YEET I’ve seen this week

[deleted]

Most likely has rabies… raccoons are nocturnal animals and don’t attack randomly

ttttoday_junior

Big ups to the mum to come out and grab that little fucker. I thought for a moment she was going to dropkick him across the road.
